Some new calculations. My point is that having 100% fail at 71200 means either very bad luck or that 71200 has a somehow low probability of staking (keep in mind that the population is onlt 2 blocks, so not statistically significant, though). Although, I have daily stakes of lower block (the power of randomness/nonce)
So, I'm heading to a higher block size and try with 4000, which should give 115491 weight, 60% more weight than a 2400 block. FYI, a block of 3000 would give 20% more weight. The table below shows which values are verified and which are extrapolated

 Size   Days   Weight
 2000      9    17341 (verified)
 2400     30    71200 (verified, 2 out of 2 did not stake after 3 days)
 3000      9    26011 (extrapolated)
 3000     30    86616 (extrapolated)
 4000      9    34682 (extrapolated)
4000     30   115491 (extrapolated, if no 71200 block stake after 3 days, either particularly bad luck or low probability with 71200, thus trying 115491)

Update1:
David, since your concern is the security of the network I imagine you have a minimum diff as a target.  With that parameter you can then play with the others.
I don't have a diff target, I just speculate on the variation of diff.

Update2: due to present low diff, I have an unusually lot of blocks staking now. I don't expect this (relatively) low diff to last, though, so it should not impact my considerations.

We'll all probably get away with it (staking small'ish blocks) for another month or so, but I'm guesstimating that soon enough, we'll stop worrying about hitting the cap, and start worrying about having enough size/weight to stake before reaching 30 days maturity.
Personally, my block sizes are anything between 2K ~ 4K at the moment, but by the end of the month I'll be aiming at 3K+ blocks.
I just realised this could prove bad for network security, since bigger blocks => less block => less security.

I'd like your input on this. Extending max age or removing it altogether (like Blackcoin was the first to do, I think) would alleviate this issue and would lead to ever-diminishing blocks (and would require a hard fork). Difficulty would rise exponentially.
OTOH, after a transition phase from small blocks to large blocks during which network security would be reduced, we would again gain network security because inflation would lead to more block. Security/Difficulty would increase smaller, though (the larger the blocks, the smaller the difficulty rise).

Opinions?

Selling "at market" is a stupid plan. I'd like everyone reading this to read that again. Hell, I'll repeat it. Selling "at market" is a stupid plan. If everyone who has a sell order up would take it down RIGHT NOW and relist at 2K satoshis or higher, do you really think no one would buy?
Easy tactic: Place a sell order at the second topmost price.
Why?
- Sell order for not dumping and what Biomech said
- Second topmost instead of topmost because topmost is used by bot. Second topmost may be used by bots too but less of a risk. You can sell at third topmost too (or even farther away from spread) but I doubt most people have the required patience (like for selling at 2K). Plus, selling consistently reduces volatility.

Update: if you sell order is not processed, don't close your sell order to place a sell order at a lower price. Just wait for you next stake.

Could you populate this reference? This is not something to be done in one day, as it is pretty long. Thank you.

Well, its official.. 2400 blocks are gonna max out... Time to move to 2k.. Smiley
I did it 9 days ago. Since I already have 36 block maxed out (and more by the day), I wil start moving my new blocks to 1800.

The lower the blocks, the more numerous the block, the faster the diff rise - without even accounting for more HYP being available for more blocks. Expect exponential rise.

I also moved the chart to open access, so you will not have to request access anymore, sorry about that.

One of these days, you guys will be finding out that making the blocks too tiny, will eventually cause them to not stake for over 30 days, at which point they stop gaining weight. With everyone moving to smaller blocks, and with difficulty continuing its rise, it will not be too long before 2K blocks become "to small to stake".

Interesting times ahead!  Wink
Happy Staking,
You're right, I did not notice that two of my 2400 block already are more than 30 days old. I will start some 3000 blocks, then. The "lesser blocks means more block even if they take longer to stake" consideration is heavily affected by the 30 days limit.

Update:
The stake calculator is planned to be updated with "wasted coins" (how much I would have gotten if there was no 1000 HYP limit). I propose the stake calculator is further improved by outputting not only the stake, but also the weight - this value being particularly important at 30 days, when reaching max age (and not gaining more weight). Hence a "stake and weight calculator".

Also, could the block browser show the block weight? "Block network stake weight" is something different than weight in coin control.

FYI, at 2400 HYP per block, 30 days is 71200 of weight. A rule of three gives me this:
Size   Weight @30days
 2400   71200
 1000   29667
 3000   89000
 3033   90000
10000  296667

Since I have already two blocks at 30+ days, I believe that 71200 of weight (and so, 2400 of size) does not give enough chance to stake. Granted, I only have two of them stuck here, but I have a total of 44 blocks at 1000 (all with 2400 of blocksize). I will head to 89000 of weight (a nice round number of 3000).

The previous Church's architect, Quicken, had to resign from his position, due to personal matters. We looked after someone to replace him and we are happy to announce that Febo Urso Mortiginto is more than up to the task. His glorious ancestry lives well in him.
As is the rule, the Church's architect will have exclusivity on any Church's building, except if he gets overloaded. Signore Mortiginto is allowed to accept third-party requests and his reputation as the architect for most spiritual buildings will certainly attract attention and may in turn increase awareness on buildings he will be the designer of ("it's a Mortiginto"). Think about it when choosing an architect.

I would like to purchase, and then donate the two lots next to the proposed site for the 'Sunrise Club', T23 & T24, to be used to further the aims of this project. It can be used for any purpose the Marquess d'Armagnac sees fit. Maybe a park, maybe a retreat centre for overnight 'slumber parties'; anything that might make the 'Sunrise Club' more enjoyable for younger players and their IRL parents/guardians. I would also like to donate 200M towards building costs and other expenses.
I am grateful and pleased the Prince of OZ gifts the Youth Center in such a way.

True to the spirit of empowerment that I wish to instill in the Youth Center and its members, I propose the land itself will be left vacant until the members themselves decide what to build on it. The Youth Center had been inaugurated recently and so there is no immediate need to build more terrain - which mean more time to make it something that matters.

Regarding the Youth Center:
This is a building like no other. Since it was meant for a particular type of population, creative youngsters who will evolve in a way senior citizen may not anticipate, we decided to build what I like to call a modular building. The two first floors have almost no inside walls, making the building one giant room per storey (iwth the exception of one separate room at each storey, to accomodate sound-isolation). The rest of the huge room is meant to be redesigned on the fly with wall-panels similar to oriental fusumas or sliding wall, so that youngsters can adapt the building to their needs, instead of them adapting to the building. This is a massive departure from regular architectural designs, somehing we believe youngsters are the most apt at embracing, thanks to their young minds. We call this design "open space with panels" Panels themselves are located in giant closets to be used at will to create rooms of any size: 1*1, 2*7, 3*4... Similary, mobile furniture (chairs, tables...) is available aplenty to be moved easily from one room to another.
Originally there was supposed to be a central "well of light" in the middle, to ensure maximum illumination everywhere. As the design progressed, we move the well of light on the side (so it is not technically a well of light anymore), so that it is possible to create particularly large arrangements (7*7 room). No effort have been spared to accompany the creativity of youngsters
In the same idea, several anchor points have been placed on the external wall to accomodate impromptu mezzanines supported by large chains So a room is now modular in the three dimensions: height, width and depth. There are also several hatches in the ceiling to accomadate items of exceptional size or to allow some other creative uses.

Many thanks to Febo for his skill, patience ahd proactive help.

We updated the OP to clarify that the "tail emission" (minimum subsidy after the ~18.4 millions are mined) is less than 1% per year (not "weekly", "monthly"...).

[2] Actual number of atomic units is M = 264 - 1. A minimum subsidy may be implemented in the future with <1% annual inflation to preserve mining incentives.

It had always been clear in our mind, but we got feedback that that was not the case for anyone. The danger of assumption Smiley

And now 4 giga fucking byte is considered short...
Valid point, but I'd just say that at 4 GB you are pretty close to a critical point where even a small increase would have a disproportionately large benefit.
This was more a general consideration about loss of efficiency in computer at large, loss itself encouraged by ever-increasing hardware, ever-diminishing time-to-release and dare I say less proficient coders (which on the plus side lowers the barrier to entry). Granted, this also allows long filename and ubiquitous use of Unicode, but still... Wirth's law.

The last entry on the document is block 173045 at 7,49593. The last ATH is way before half the current lifetime of HYP, so chances are low the ATH is here to say quite some time.

See bolded above. SSD helps a lot if you are already short of RAM (which at 4 GB, you are). Bump up the RAM on there and a dozen minutes will be down to a minute or two (more or less regardless of drive).
* David Latapie remembers working on a 486DX maxed out in RAM (64MB) and playing Baldur's Gate with an indecent amount of RAM (24 MB - would work, but slowly, at a mere 8 MB).
And now 4 giga fucking byte is considered short...

I'll pastiche Warren Buffet and say the memory footprint has gone up a thousandfold but the producitvity has not gone up thousandfold.

Anyway, just a (not-so-old) grumpy man rambling...

I'm pretty sure that most of these scam ICOs, if not all of them, involve the scammers running their own BTC through the ICO and ending up with both the BTC and the coin. So a disguised premine, with some extra BTC (but a much smaller unknowable amount) from idiots as a bonus.
I confirm from acquaintances: ICO are faked.

On a particular machine, sure. For example, if you are swapping lot, that will indeed happen on lot faster on a SSD, so it will speed up, but the underlying cause of the bigger slow down is the lack of RAM. People were talking about many minutes to an hour for a save. That is not pushing the limits of any HDD sequential speed, at all.
Old machine: Mintbox, 4Gb, 5400 RPM HDD, 4Gb. More than one hour
New machine: Laptop, 4Gb, SSD. A dozen minute top.

So tell how the HDD is not related? Both machines where running Linux. Mintbox is Arch + Xfce, which takes up less RAM than the new one (Ubuntu + Gnome 3).

I'd like to announce the first alpha release of my unofficial lightweight GUI simplewallet wrapper, lightWallet. Using this program, you don't need to run the bitmonerod daemon on your own computer or do anything on the command line. By default it uses hegemoOn's (a long time Monero supporter) open node, although you can change it to use a different node (Atrides recently announced another one, for instance), or you can set it up to use a local daemon.
Added to OP.

This is the alpha version of MoneroClub, I'd like to post today.

This is the reason i suggested giving a private key instead of sending the coins. Don't pay us back?? We yank it back anyways.
Back then, I expressed the opinion that people could just transfer the coin and that would be over, but after all, we can notice it and more importantly, they would have to learn something more about HYP.
But the main reason I was not that enthusiastic about it is that by then is that I did not completely understood the export and dump priv key thing. And was concerned it would be difficult to explain to others. These issues are over now so I could implement it.
Still, I'd prefer to wait for triggers to be implemented, so we could have a time-based trigger. This is not as great as a real smart contract, since the trigger will have to be created by the receiver and we have no technical way to enforce it (contrary to a real smart contract), but that would be a great way to advance in the direction of smart contracts - we would need multisig, at a minimum. Time-lock and enforceable, and we may even prevent transfer of money to another address. Think Bitcoin Halo, ethereum/aethereum and BitBay (except the scam) here. HyperLoan toward smart contract?

(escrow = bloating - I could as well be the escrow, then, no one would doubt my reputation - but I'd rather have something as automated as possible)

Then again, this requires more dev and we don't have enough at the moment. Especially if we want to deliver webwallet - which is a higher priority than smart contracts, although a lower priority than multisend + trigger, since presstab is already on it.

But the main issue about HyperLoan is not technical. As I said, the main reason I postponed this week's HyperLoan is that people did not even care to win. Winners did not contact me to give me an addrress and I suggest that in one month, those who gave me an address back then will not send the money back because they do not even know they have some HYP they won.

Wall of shame was populated for a short while, then I realised PM crossed so I removed freedom from the WoS - but if in two day he did not pay, I will have to add him again.

Several people were late for paying, but I think they all acted in good well. Thus the need for an automated solution.
