Bumping this thread because I like Armory's fragmented backup, but I just cannot devote 80 Gb of disk for blockchain + Armory cache. I tried Electrum's multisig, but I don't understand it: I need to add other signers' master key.

Hello, I'd like to create my wallets and manage them (including moving funds from one to the other, like here with Armory. Then I'd like to have one of the wallet I created on Armory on my Android phone. That way, I can refill my mobile wallet from Armory, at home. For that to be possible, I need to be able to import an Armory wallet into an mobile wallet like mycelium, blocktrail, greenaddress... But I can't find a way to do it. Is it even possible to import an Armory wallet to Android? Thank you.

The main reason why I am not sure it is a double top is because there have three months between each top. My personal belief is that we are experiencing a double top which will start a bull bear trap followed by either a pump (pessimistic) or a bull market (optimistic) in September (Martin Armstrong predicted a financial crisis worse than 2008 and starting in Q4 2015). This article goes to the same direction of a bull trap: that the recent events are misleading: While it seems awareness of bitcoin has increased in [Greece], Liapi isn't convinced this is behind the recent increase in the price of bitcoin. Thoughts? Edit: typo (bull trap changed to bear trap)

I propose here to the core devs to use this opportunity to create a "Monero constitution", we'll have the current Monero developers as our "founding fathers" and a GPG document signed by them laying the principles of Monero and what can and cannot be changed ever (like emission). Not exactly what you are thinking about, but The Three Pillars of Monero (which originated on bitcointalk) is pretty close to it.

Why is David Latapie considered as a gangster ? White collar gangster. He really puts the "white" back in white collar.... More like Pale Collar Crime. Melanin-free crime? Because he's another sociopathic pumper who does a good job of convincing people he is a normal human being with a fully-functional brain. I finally decided to stop trying to look normal. I am one-eyed, I am a gangsta and I love Monero. Yo!

Monero tshirts or sweatshirts would look "cool". A dark black with white lining and the monero logo, name, and a catchy slogan: "Don't hate cause I'm anonymous", would be interesting.

Not sure you read his post carefully. Say monero goes to $25. Is $250 worth the risk to recover 534x$25? That's a question for you to answer. But how much does it cost to put the broken hard drive on a shelf until monero is worth $.00003 or $25.00?
ATM, Monero is around 30 cents. Spend 260 dollars and you get your moneroj back, in a way. If later on, one monero is worth 250 dollars, so much the better, but right now, it is not. It would be like saying that the 10 000 BTC pizza guy lost millions. Crap, he did not lose a thing if he bought back (and I am pretty certain he did, at least partially).

Updated my letter to an investor with #6. In contrast, Bitcoin technology is getting easier and easier to track - #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6. I might consider starting Monero meetup in Paris. Might.

David is actually probably a rather qualified individual to talk with BFX. Aside from great character and proficiency of this space's nuances, it probably helps that Raphael and David are fellow Frenchmen. Lol. I wish I had saved the logfile of the conversation I had with him. I strung him along for like 30 minutes. I shall have them. PM me if interested.
(many post about me asking information regarding mining hardware) 1. I needed SOTA data regarding mining hardware. My latest data were several months old and I wanted an update. Case (and troller's mouth) closed. 2. Read my editorials and you'll see I know a thing or two about technology. BTW, I hold a master's degree in IT management and have several years of experience on IT management ( linkedin profile). 3. As Hueristic mentioned, Monero was a part of my moving to Linux, in April-May 2014 (I already used Linux several times in the past, but was never convinced). I installed Linux (Arch Linux then, because of many incompatibilities, Ubuntu). I recently physically crashed my laptop and decided, for business reasons, to move to Macbook Air hardware (OS X+Ubuntu and Windows on Parallels).
It might offend the solipsists. Little do solipsists know, Socrates was the OG of solipsism Edit: “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” Descartes is usually credited for popularizing solipsism with his famous " cogito ergo sum" ("I think therefore I am").
Regarding the "kill-switch" for mining hardware, the answer is 3D printing with open-source blueprints, such as physible. I can even imagine using maelstrom to download an open-source blueprints. Using a decentralised technology (bitorrent) to create decentralised devices (3D printed miners) for obtaining decentralised cryptocurrency (Monero). Neat.

The only info on the viewkey I can find is on the MEW site--is there more info available yet? Or did I miss something on the main site? A good ELI2.5 would be good to counter attack xdrkdashians. http://fr.slideshare.net/getmonero/monero-next-step-en-46579074/6 may help.
The "glitch" in the obfuscated miner was fixed extremely fast (by NoodleDoodle, one of the core team members), a lot faster than most people remember. At the time it was a pretty big deal.[...] I updated History of Monero accordingly (still a lot of work to do on this one). I remember that NoodleDoodle was hesitant to release what had become "his" miner (just a couple of parenthesis to be removed) because he was not sure this tweak did not have unintended consequences - we eventually decided to release what maybe was a broken miner (turns out it was the opposite, a better miner). This shows how naive we still were about the possibility of a crippled miner .
so the question is at what point does any cryptocurrency become a stable store of value to begin attracting those that are trying to avoid the negative interest rates that are besetting contemporary finance? I'm assuming its merely a measure of time - but how much time? and how much stability?
And it will be interesting if bitcoin can maintain its value as this fungibility thing plays out. I recently read on IRC that chances are good that Bitcoin will stay in the 200 dollars range for one more year. This would be exactly what we need (and for Monero too, by the way - volatility is for parasitic traders, stability is for those who actually do something with money). Fluffypony recently said that he believes that since it is fairly distributed and dev do not have a large stash, the way to make money with Monero is by developing services around it. And this is exactly what I am doing (and why I am not that present recently - setting up a company takes times, money and energy).
don't quote. Exactly. I ignored blockafett and primer- but still have to suffer the replies.
I really feel for this community in the same ways I do for the human beans that help build Ubuntu, etc. Thank you (again) After reading this post, I stumbled upon a French text ( English version) which blew my mind regarding how great ubuntu (the philosophical notion) is.
in a week price down of 40% - why?
Not as much growth in the "posable gmaxwell doll" sector as we expected. Someone should fire the VP of Marketing and replace him with someone with a man like Primer- who really knows what this industry needs. Speaking of... haven´t seen David in a while, is he off on vacation? I suppose "Speaking of" relates to "VP of Marketing" I'm setting up a company focusing on increasing usefulness of cryptocurrency (and particularly Monero) for legal persons (companies, NGO...) worldwide. It takes a lot of time, as you can imagine. This is also one of the few things I know that evolves faster than a cryptocurrency. And for Monero birthday, I was presenting cryptocurrencies at a French event. Expect more to happen later. If you own a company or hold an position of influence in one and are curious about what we offer, you can PM me. Also, I'm preparing a Monero meetup in Paris, in partership with... https://forum.getmonero.org/14/events/277/monero-meetup-paris-france-may-21th-2015Google+ Event: https://plus.google.com/events/cv85079ug4ijrc0o6uc46b1i3jgJeudi 21 mai 2015 dans les somptueux bureaux de Mozilla, situés au 16 bis rue Montmartre, de 19h30 to 22h (approximativement).
On verra. Après, nous irons probablement au fameux Sof's Bar (le point de chute des Bitcoiners franciliens) ou dans un bar à côté de Mozilla.

Bonjour !

I contacted Bitfinex some days ago and I received a (non-automatic) reply about them looking into adding Monero. Methinks this is a good opportunity for other to propose it to.

XMR have the same problem from a legal point of view
Monero is completely fungible, its the only crypto that doesnt have this problem. Technically, other CryptoNote coins don't have this problem either (but they have a lot other, starting with ridiculous volume, since Monero is leader in CryptoNote, by far)

... People who are motivated by solving a problem or creating something new usually achieve wealth as a byproduct not as a intended goal. And people who pursue wealth without merit usually get neither.
Well-said and exactly what S. Sinek gets at in this TED Talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sioZd3AxmnE (Seek to 8:15 to hear the story I am mentioning) He uses the example of the Wright Brothers versus Samuel Pierpont Langley in the race to achieve the first powered flight. Langley was well-funded, sponsored, and was basically in it for the fame and money. Orville and Wilbur, pn the other hand, were passionate about flying and their fame and wealth came as a result of their acheivements. https://youtu.be/sioZd3AxmnE?t=8m18s And also this great Apple speech by Sinek too: https://youtu.be/qp0HIF3SfI4?t=4m7sEverything we do we believe in challenging the status quo, we believe in thinking differently The way we challenge the status quo is by making our product beautifully designed, simple to use and user-friendly We just happen to make great computers - wanna buy one?
"People don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it" I am doing Monero because I believe in net neutrality, I believe in fairness (of distribution but also of transaction - forcing people to be private or to be transparent means being unfair to some parties), I believe in decentralisation, I believe in future-proof (scalable, well-written) code. And I believe that placing our why before our how is the right things to do. fluffypony recently said on IRC: 9:03 AM <crocket> fluffypony, Why are you doing monero? 9:05 AM <•fluffypony> Three reasons: 9:07 AM <•fluffypony> 1. Bitcoin has reached a point where they're stuck with inefficiencies and stumbling blocks (eg. block size) that they can't change without massively politicizing the decision. I wanted to contribute to something not so...precarious 9:08 AM <•fluffypony> 2. Monero is the first truly interesting and noteworthy altcoin I've found, and I believe that advancing it is akin to advancing science or art, without being overly self-important. 9:10 AM <•fluffypony> 3. I of course want to make money, but I believe the best way to do so is to build peripheral services that can profit as the economy builds out.
These are our whys. What are yours (whether you are a dev or a supporter)? (I'm not implying no DASH developers have other goal; actually, I do not imply anything about DASH or any other crypto than Monero, so don't quote me out of context)
