This is just plain wrong, and censorship. I think if this continues this should be called the "unofficial bitcoin forum".
Is this the official bitcoin forum? I mean, I'm pretty sure bitcoin is about as decentralized as it gets. This forum in no way governs Bitcoin. It's more like a fanboy site that got popular. As for it's "censorship", anyone is welcome to go someplace else. It's just run by a few guys with some spare time on their hands. Hell, go make your own site if you want and call it the official bitcoin forum. This forum is no different than Facebook, 4chan, Reddit, or any other website and forum.

People consider this the official bitcoin forum since Satoshi was using it, is that not a valid conclusion?
Ehh.. not really. He stopped using this forum a long time ago. And Satoshi isn't Bitcoin. If Bill Gates used Facebook, does that make Facebook Microsoft's (Windows) official social media website? The dude didn't even operate this website as far as I am aware of. He's probably posted on many other websites as well. That doesn't make this site, or any others more or less special than another. Let alone official.

I think the forums URL was forum.bitcoin.com. If seems pretty official.

on the factoids slot, how did that get there? I thought those were interesting factoids not ads, do they stay there?  Also, there are some duplicates like

There are many Bitcoin clients, but so far only Satoshi's original Bitcoin client (Bitcoin-Qt) is capable of acting as a full node. Full nodes follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks
484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: ATTN: Unconfirmed Transactions (read before posting!) on: August 14, 2013, 01:33:08 PM
Does it require more fees when more transactions are behind it? I used to use faucets a lot, and I just sent a transaction, and it has a bunch of faucet transactions. That makes the transaction bigger, which requires more fees, right?
485  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: When Bitcoin ASICs are outdated, how'll we use them to mine SHA256 alt coins? on: August 14, 2013, 01:12:09 PM
Companies will let you exchange them for newer versions, for a price.

People. People. Calm down. The bitcoin hash rate is big, and that car is on steroids.  Smiley
487  Other / Off-topic / Re: Lavabit.com and Tormail Email Alternatives... on: August 14, 2013, 01:04:01 PM
I assume someone has already mentioned bitmessage.org (even though it's not email) it could replace email someday as a secure alternative.
Unless it becomes possible to send and receive messages to non-bitmessage users I highly doubt it will gain much acceptance. There's too much network effect to overcome.

It is already possible to configure Thunderbird mail client to route mail through the bitmessage network ... it will become just another protocol layer option like POP, IMAP, SMTP, etc.

Is there a tutorial? If so, I would love to do this.
488  Other / Off-topic / What security/privacy plugins do you use? on: August 13, 2013, 06:00:00 PM
I am trying to be as secure when browsing as possible with all the NSA surveillance. So I am trying to find some good privacy plugins. I currently use NoScript, DNTme, and sometimes a VPN/Proxy. Are there any others you would suggest? I am using Firefox Beta. Thanks!

This reminded me to go and check on my Pyramining account. I had a %400 bonus.  Shocked Thanks for the reminder, and good idea BTW.

Join under my referral link and you will get a larger bonus, too! Link is in my sig.

492  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [INTEREST-CHECK] A Minecraft server where you get BTC for killing mobs / mining on: August 13, 2013, 03:25:03 PM
Yes, but make it so you get a small amount of satoshi for every block, not just ores. Also, can you PLEASE release the plugin you use to the public? Even if it is closed source, I would love to use it. Let me know if you need a tester / Admin! I go on minecraft a lot.  Plus, I am good with YMLs and I run my own server.

495  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [PREORDER] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: August 13, 2013, 02:28:52 AM
Nice, once it is released, will it be cheaper? $100 is a lot.
496  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Looking For Feedback/Request] Secure Email server on: August 13, 2013, 02:26:19 AM
I would use if it came out, but only for free. Who knows? Snowden may use it someday.  Roll Eyes

PGP encryption built in would be nice.
497  Economy / Speculation / Re: POLL: Android exploit found and fixed (?), Bullish or Bearish? on: August 13, 2013, 02:10:36 AM
It is certainly a large stir, but not large enough to fluctuate the price.

So, this is NOT a alternative coinchat client, it is an alternative to coinchat itself?
