481  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will Cassino Continue With Wagering Requirements, If Abuse is Eliminated? on: January 08, 2023, 12:26:06 AM
the reality is, there will always be abusers. i don't think it can be eliminated especially if the casino is not requiring kyc to its customers. even some licensed casinos are still not requiring kyc for their small time bettors. so it is far from happening that abuse will be eliminated in my opinion.
the possibility is - they may lower their wagering requirements but they will keep certain conditions to avoid rampant abuse of their bonuses or rewards.

I have the same opinion.

I have nothing against the wagering requirement. Bonuses are optional and you shouldn't choose a casino only for their bonus. Play like you would and if you happen to get the bonus and do all the wagers it's good for you, free money!

The requirement has become a standard in the industry and It's not going away. It can get lower but it won't disappear. One of the reasons for it is you cannot get rid of abuse in full. There will always be innovative people who will find ways to do it and there's a lot of poor gamblers who'd do a lot for a few dollars. The wagering requirement is the easiest way to stop the abuse. It's that or full KYC on registration and nobody has time to do that.
482  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Store your seed phrase offline on: January 08, 2023, 12:13:31 AM
LastPass has a terrible reputation. The last story is still not fully understood. On December 22, the team admitted that the leak was more serious than they expected. And yes, we also remember that the team did not immediately react to warn users. There is an explanation of what happened; you can follow the link.
https://blog.lastpass.com/2022/12/notice-of-recent-security-incident/

But by trusting third parties with our seed phrases or passwords, we are tacitly signing a disclaimer. Therefore, in order not to blame ourselves for any incidents, such as theft or leakage, we must rely only on ourselves. In addition, we all exaggerate the complexity of storing important data. There is always a place in your personal space where you can store things away from prying eyes, be it paper with a seed phrase, a flash drive, or something else. And it is better that there are several archives, but in reasonable quantities.

Everything should be approached with caution and limited trust. I use last pass, it's a great tool. It should not be used to store the most important information like all of your important email addresses, bank accounts, anything that has to do with money or private information.

I use it for burner spam emails, sites that require registration to access but it's nothing important. I've downloaded software a few times that wouldn't allow me to use all features without registration. I don't need to remember my password to such sites in case I ever need them. Also, as long as the data is encrypted and they inform users about a breach you have a lot of time to change your leaked passwords before someone cracks the encryption.

Seed phrases, private keys, everything of this sort should be kept offline, preferably engraved on something that doesn't burn and well hidden.
483  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Banking is more reliable and faster on: January 07, 2023, 09:15:45 PM
The problem with this thinking is you're trying to choose one or the other.
Bankers and politicians are doing the same thing when they say that bitcoin cannot be used for this or for that and will never be a reserve currency when it's not trying to be!

Bitcoin is the ideal money for emergencies. It's also the ideal money for fighting unethical and unlawful government. Do you remember what happened in Canada during the protests? Trudeau started blocking people's accounts to make them freeze and starve. This was an abuse that wouldn't happen with bitcoin.

Bitcoin has its benefits and it's a great tool that people never had before but it won't be the death of fiat money. Even if one day the world goes digital it will be centralized currencies vs decentralized ones and most lazy people will continue to choose centralized because it's easy and you don't have to read anything.

484  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the maximum number of loosing streak possible in dice with 20%/5x win? on: January 07, 2023, 08:58:45 PM
There is no maximum number and any number of losses in a row is possible. Take note that every time you wager, you play a new game which is independent from previous games and everything is possible.
If you are looking for a method to get rich, that's not possible. House will defeat you in the long run.

Unfortunately, that's it.

At 50% if it was just math your probability of rolling a win in dice should go up with every loss and after a few thousand rolls you should be at around 50% of wins. That's not the case with online dice though because you're not physically throwing it like in a real casino but you're running the same algorithm along 100  users or more at the same time.

The algo is going to be at 50% win but one of you can be getting more wins than the other. It's possible someone who plays at the same time is getting 5 wins and you're getting 5 losses in a row and the total stats of the game remain at 50%.

Probably every single person who plays dice had a streak of 10 or more losses in a row at 49% even though in a real game of dice you'd have to try very hard to achieve that.
485  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If Luck Was Measured In Percentage, Rate Your Luck In 2022 From 0-100 on: January 07, 2023, 08:43:48 PM
I had some lucky days really but some were really bad if i was gonna go from 0-100 i would say 20 or 25 maybe. Could have been a lot better but there was more L days then W ones. Some unlucky days hitted at the end of the year, even now at the start of the year i didnt have luck at all.

I feel the same at times but I don't consider myself unlucky in life, just in gambling.

My gambling luck might be at 25% but my total luck in life is at least 50%.
486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin developer @lukedashjr's wallet was hacked on: January 04, 2023, 06:12:51 PM
I wonder if it will be possible to cash those BTC in. There is a digital footprint now and every crypto exchange will be watching for this closely.

I wouldn't be so sure.

You assume that every exchange is in the same league, playing the good game.

Some exchanges in the past were known to be money launderers like the once popular BTCe. There are exchanges that tried some shady things in the past and don't care much about their reputation like Yobit. Many exchanges situated in poor countries will agree to exchange stolen for you for a fee.
487  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies do not be fooled by developers on: January 04, 2023, 05:28:25 PM
I have read series of posts advising us to do our research very well before investing in any project but as newbie, most of us don't even know what to research. What are we to look into before getting to know if a project is cool or scam?
The help needed by the cryptocurrency newbies is not to be caution but how to be cautious of what to invest into.

Why do you want to invest in the space?

It's an important question because if you're a newbie with a lot of money but 0 experience, you should not be getting in just like that. It's reckless to put a lot of money on the line.

A newbie with no experience and little money should look to dollar cost average into bitcoin first. It's the safest route that won't get you scammed.

If you really want to get into altcoins get some bitcoin first and buy yourself some time to think about your next moves. Maybe you'll find out that altcoin market is too volatile for you or that you don't have time to watch all these projects.
488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Factors that contribute to form addictive gambling. on: January 04, 2023, 04:50:59 PM
Real casinos are inviting with their looks, dimmed lights, the atmosphere, sounds of coins and chips, they want you to stay as long as possible and feel comfortable. They'll give you free drinks, even send women your way to watch your game, be cheerful and keep you in good mood. It all depends on how much you're spending.

Online casinos make money by offering easy access 24/7. Everything is fast, anonymous, can be done without exchanging a word with anyone. You register and play. This is really important in many Asian countries where people are more into technology and less into human interactions.

Well, I my self getting addicted with slots because of my first "Max-Win", i never play slots before, but since last year starting from try a game, and get max-win, and from here i getting play more and more. But, in total I lose a lot, because I can't control myself from playing. And now, time for me to play wisely, or even getting away from slots, because I getting more addicted in slots than playing dice  Angry

That's why they make big wins, jackpots so visible in real casinos. They want you to feel like a king and for everybody to notice you.

They know you'll be looking for this feeling and it will will bring you back to them.
489  Economy / Gambling / Re: Coinballer - An open-source multi-player Bitcoin gambling game. on: January 04, 2023, 04:34:45 PM
The platform still takes 2%. I can configure this to take out only a withdrawal fee, I guess.

You should also arrange with the players in the game to play before the game starts.

IMO this is going to extremely limit the amount of players you'll get on the site. It's just too much of a hassle to gather a group of people willing to play this game with you and then make them join the same game and deposit coins.

Nobody is going to start empty games knowing that he'll be charged anyway, regardless of whether the game takes place. I know this is a beta stage of the game and it's how the system works, but the whole point of playing a PvP betting game is getting a random opponent.

I just know that if I try to explain to a friend that if he goes to that site he can win money if he wagers more than me, but loses if it's less than me, and then we all pay a fee on the win, I'm going to get that "are you trying to scam me?" look. Cheesy
490  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can offline wallets ever be hacked? on: January 03, 2023, 07:23:49 PM
Can offline wallet be hacked the answer is yes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dT9y-KQbqi4

So what are the risks of using offline wallets? there is always the risk the biggest risk is we sometimes forget about the pin  Grin like the video I showed you above and offline wallet is pretty much safe than online wallet since online hack its happen all the time

This is not a normal situation where someone spends days soldering and probing your hardware wallet to get your coins out.

When your wallet gets stolen you should use the seed to gain access and move the coins to another address. Judging by the amount of hardware and software that is needed to perform this attack you should have more than enough time.

You could say it's possible to guess someone's password, but how much time is this going to take? Many people have simple wallet passwords so if you get their wallet file you can try a bruteforce attack.
The same can be said about a wallet that belongs to a dev. It's important to keep wallets with as much money as he had offline or at least on a separate machine that has its own firewall.

Ity's easy to compromise your computer by downloading stuff from the Internet especially from hacking forums. Game cheats and cracked software are often spiked with malware.
491  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin survived the Christmas market pressure on: January 03, 2023, 07:12:44 PM
The price of bitcoin is unrelated to its performance. In the now famous covid crash of 2020 bitcoin went down by a lot and this had nothing to do with it but with how the US stock market reacted to the announced lockdown.

Bitcoin was doing fine, there was no bad news and it crashed from 9000 to 3000. What's happening now is a very similar situation where bitcoin is doing ok but the US stocks are going down and putting pressure on companies who are invested in both stocks and bitcoin and those who borrowed money to invest in bitcoin.

This is why you shouldn't care about the price. Bitcoin can be worth 10000 dollars tomorrow and 20 thousand next week. It doesn't matter unless you think you know what the next move will be and will try to capitalize on that.
492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you a lone Sports Bettor or a Team Sports Bettor? on: January 03, 2023, 06:29:29 PM
Like so many posters in this thread I'm both. It depends on the mood, the type of bet, the sport that I'm betting on... Sometimes I have a gut feeling about something or I follow a team and I know they can do well without asking anyone. Sometimes I'm not that sure and need to consult statistics and predictions.

Most peole are expected to be like that unless they're experts in the field and bet on their own all the time.
493  Economy / Gambling / Re: What sort of Weekly & Monthly Bonuses do Bitcointalk members want? on: January 03, 2023, 05:59:35 PM

Active players who wager promising amounts deserve a weekly and monthly bonus. I think there should be a certain target wager amount for them to reach to be qualified for the bonus scheme.
A random rain would be enough to keep more players stay even the new members. This is the strategy of well-established casinos where they always make their players and members feel valued and excited every time they interact with their community.

Depends on the rain amount. I've been to casinos where they had rains that were getting divided among so many people that what you ended up getting was dust. Literally cents if you were to exchange the money.

While the feeling of seeing you on the list of people who got credited is nice people aren't dumb and they realize that after a day of gambling all the summed up rains aren't even 0.1% of their wagered money and this is not going to make them stay.

Levels of account that ultimately give you bigger prizes aren't a bad idea or weekly bonuses based on total wagered amount.
494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are We Being Fucked? The centralization of Bitcoin on: January 03, 2023, 05:46:07 PM
That's in fact what decentralization is. It's not controlled by a single pool. 2 pools may together have 51% but not a single one can and it's in their best interest to keep it that way because to have 30% of mining you need to be heavily invested and by messing around trying to launch a 51% attack you're throwing that investment away.

That's not a sure thing if you think about how fiat economies are built. Putin didn't care about the economy when he launched an attack against Ukraine. If you were a wealthy Russian investor in 2021, you probably stopped being wealthy in 2022, or even like some of them you stopped being alive.
495  Economy / Gambling / Re: making 500-1000usd daily in poker must read i need a partner! on: January 02, 2023, 03:17:08 PM
A good question would be how much does OP need to make those 500-1000usd daily. That's complex to get starting from low amounts like $10. Just think about the all-ins $20, $40, $80, $160, $320, $640... to win 6 all-ins in one run isn't easy.

It would be better if you offer a service like double op the investment with poker, but still a risky move to the users because you can lose all or walk away with the money in your pockets.

There's no way someone with a good strategy will go into debt and ask random people on a forum for money.

If you're good and have a working strategy you should be able to play low stakes until you get enough money to go high stake again and start earning big. Out of money? If you're good it should be no problem to get one of your friends in the game. You're not making them risk anything because you "know" how to make 500 a day. You can even take a fast loan. Banks will give you 1k just like that.

OP took all the loans he can and cannot do more and is a compulsive gambler who will try anything to get money even borrowing from strangers.
496  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to know when money start flowing into crypto, any tools? on: January 02, 2023, 03:04:50 PM
From my experience the market is so illiquid that a big move can happen overnight, while you sleep. That's why people recommend to do DCA because your risk is very low, you're putting some money aside and you're always in.

There are 2 most popular ways how people approach investment in bitcoin. One is to DCA and keep adding to it without looking at the price. The other is to wait for a 50 % correction from the high and then start buying. At the moment we're down 70%. If you're still afraid to buy than I doubt you'll ever be confident enough.
497  Economy / Economics / Re: Every passing year seems progressively worse on: January 02, 2023, 01:51:14 PM
Living in interesting times is a curse, according to the Chinese.
What makes life interesting is the amount of problems we solve and the obstacles we overcome along the way. Life would've been way more boring and pointless, if everything was just fine and there weren't any difficulties.
There were wars, natural disasters and economic downturns since the dawn of the human civilization. It would be really stupid and naive to think that there won't be any wars, natural disasters and economic downturns in the future.
Maybe we should develop a stoic mindset and learn not to be preoccupied by the negative news, because the bad news are what drives the mainstream media. You know the saying "good news isn't news".
I agree with you here. The years don't seem to be worse if you do some critical thinking.

2020 was really bad we had that covid scare and lockdowns. 2021 was great, bull market on bitcoin, lockdowns being lifted, 2022 was much worse, but mostly because the governments are trying to manipulate the prices of their fiat currencies and stop inflation that they themselves caused by printing money in 2021. I'm positive about 2023 though. As we approac bitcoin halving and they won't be able to increase rates anymore, we should do ok, at least if you're smart enough to accumulate bitcoin.
498  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you guys bet on sports or casinos more? on: January 02, 2023, 01:35:07 PM
For me it's also mostly sports. I don't mind to play something else like crash for a minute but I don't enjoy these fast paced games like I used to.

I also rarely have time to keep playing things that bore me like dice and I have such a bad luck at slots that I don't even try.
Probably most of my successes in this came from sports betting, especially football.
499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My First Bitcoin on the New Year Day 2023. on: January 01, 2023, 05:58:16 PM
Great to see this OP! You didn't spend a whole lot, more like the value of a burger or something, but the investment has to start somewhere.

I hope your first buy brings you joy and becomes something you remember for a long time as the day you've got into the world of decentralized money.

My advice for you at the start of your journey is to curb your expectations and not check the price every day.
500  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers that don't understand basic gambling concepts. on: January 01, 2023, 05:48:00 PM
I use EV in my investments but totally not in gambling. I just assess whether the investment is good or not by using expected value, but I will not have any time doing this mathematical calculation just for a single roll in dice. Besides, I'm here to enjoy the games, not try to win with every chance that I can get. If I am going for the money, I'd turn to my investments and my full-time job, not gambling—especially not dice. I can do EV in sports betting and get some good returns by choosing which events to play on and which events to pass (even if it's an inviting one due to it being highly probable to be a win) but there's a lot of work that needs to be done and I'm mainly there to watch the games and have fun.

Nobody does the calculation for a single roll, but I guess what OP is trying to say is that people who know the theory know what to expect from their game and don't come crying to ask "what happened to my money?" after a loss.
Knowing the theory allows you to at least know if someone's advice is good or completely useless. Know that a casino makes money from your wins and losses and you're never doubling your money when you win. Understand that some strategies like martingale look good in theory but when you do the math you know they suck because after 20 losses if you finally get a win you're not back to your starting money. The game doesn't reset, but you've lost money.
