4861  Other / Meta / Re: suggest to disable changes the email address!!! on: March 17, 2018, 11:30:38 PM
There is no confirmation email upon registration, so you can use whatever address you want. This should be fixed first I think.
4862  Other / Meta / Re: The reality is 99.9% members can never rank up with the new merit system. on: March 17, 2018, 09:01:34 PM
If people are complaining then the system is working.
One way or another this forum is going in the right direction. If there's a rule to filter users without merit from joining any campaign / or remove the campaigns in general/, here will be just the perfect place to learn and develop yourself. Blockchain is the technology of the future Smiley

Great man, just started like you before Christmas.
After the market collapsed I'm still hodling what I bought.
Here's a tip from me.
You loose only if you sell. So have some patience and never act based on feelings but pure analysis.

I don't have the time anymore since I bought an old house and started renovating. The best thing is no strings attached to any banks.
The 2 cars and the house, we bought with our savings.
I have invested a little in BTC for a very long term investment.
Good luck man, read and learn along the way... knowledge  is the best investment so far Smiley
4864  Local / Other languages/locations / Re: Danh sách không chính thức của các quy tắc, nguyên tắc, câu hỏi thường gặp on: March 17, 2018, 07:03:33 AM
Looks like a good work but move the topic to your local forum. Vietnamese I think.
4865  Other / Meta / Re: Over-replied topics on: March 16, 2018, 12:34:20 PM
Well this is the side effect from the signature campaign.
In order to fulfill the requirements of the campaign most of the users that are here to "feed their families" or "provide them with better life" or just "sir"-ing around like they are in the military / no offence but can be really annoying sometimes/, cannot contribute to the forum in any way. They are not here to discuss something, learn or even try to understand basic principle of blockchain, they just post all their week limit with mindless comments in such treads and all of a sudden the Bitcoin Discussion section in almost useless.

The merit system is one of the cures, soon most of the shitposters will give up, because of the lack of merit so by the time such long threads will be slightly reduced.
4866  Other / Meta / Re: Any indicators to show that someone is banned? on: March 16, 2018, 08:52:40 AM
Since I already opened this thread and I don't want to bump old threads I'll just post some here.
I guess there are many like me, wondering why there are no ban indications, here is a good read regarding about the ban status and /maybe/ all the pros and cons.
I suggest to read troughs all the comments to build your own opinion based on facts.

[Interest Check] - User Rank 'Banned'
I just wonder why theymos did not gave any opinion there.

Many things that and seems logical at first are missing here, but reading deeper along the posts you find interesting reasons why those are not implemented. You can find many "flaws" and you think "why the hell this is not done yet for so many years?" but then you look deeper you find a reasons you never thought about because you forget the idea behind the bitcoin, the anonymity and right of freedom of every individual.
This is not an ordinary forum.

Lets move on to the other interesting read, this is rather long one, so everyone can browse for a while, but you can find quite interesting info there too.

Account farming. Allowed?

I'm sure there are more interesting reads but this is what I found for now.

I had made a list of banned accounts previously over here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1735965.0

It is no longer relevant because Vod's site collates the data in automated way, but you can find old information there.  Smiley

This is really useful list you have done. I just admire your effort.

You are probably right.

I track active users of this forum (inactive have no sign on for 90 days, no posts and no trust) and over the past week that number has been steadily going down... :/

This is a good news, and is what we are trying to achieve. Your site is one of the best tools for fighting the spammers, thanks for sharing.
4867  Other / Meta / Re: Any indicators to show that someone is banned? on: March 15, 2018, 09:15:23 PM
Thanks to Vod now I can search for similar names, when I find a ico pumper.
But what to do with those single post account which are all-over the place?  I guess they are bot-generated and they won't be used anymore, just piling up.
4868  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is Æternity? on: March 15, 2018, 07:48:57 PM
I don't think this is the correct section to promote the coin, better move the thread to the Altcoin section.

Anyway, as a Bulgarian myself I salute you and wishing all the best to my fellow countrymen Smiley

Good luck with the project but post all your info in the Altcoin section as I said earlier.

4869  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Maximum activity points per day? on: March 15, 2018, 07:45:01 PM
Unfortunately you can only get 1 point per day, doesnt matter if you post more than 1 post a day or not you will still receive 1 activity point.

You are very wrong my friend, you can get 14 points in just a minute /technically yes, but please don't try it, we have enough spam already/. Actually if you have 28 posts per last 14 day circle, with the first post on the day 15 you will get all the activity points for the new circle. With one post you get all 14 ponts at once Smiley

Hope this is clear enough.
4870  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Comprehensive guide to Bitcointalk. Newbie friendly + calculator and infographic on: March 15, 2018, 07:37:34 PM
I love the information. I understood that we need 10 merit to jump from Jr to Member. right?

Yes, you need to collect 10 merits in order to rank up to member. By learning and helping the community you will achieve those points in no time, so avoid spam and one line posts and you are on the right way Smiley
4871  Economy / Economics / Re: Choosing the one | What I think! - Real Job or Full Time Crypto! on: March 15, 2018, 02:35:30 PM
Quoting the OP should be punishable with a week ban. I got a headache just trying to read through the comments.

Please use this snip instead, it's soooo f# easy

Code:
[quote author=aoihs00 link=topic=2827486.msg28973074#msg28973074 date=1516976665]
~snip~
[/quote]

Apologies for the off topic but it's just not right what ppl are doing here.
4872  Other / Meta / Re: The ICO pumpers problem. on: March 15, 2018, 02:19:57 PM

You can put anything down. I think email confirmation should be required as it would stop a lot of bots or at the very least slow them down.

Well this is a bit disappointing, I suggested some time ago that we have to have at least 2FA, now I understand that we do not even have a confirmation email. No doubt that the wave of shitposters and ico pumpers is huge.

Well they don't really count for much now you need merit. I still wouldn't be against discounting that board from activity/post-count though. I have also suggested lower-ranks shouldn't even be allowed to post in there because there's no good reason why people would sign up just to post in there. Maybe it should be limited to Full Members and up or something.

There are still campaigns for jr. members and there is no requirement for merit, so..I hope with the time the things will be better and this madness now will settle down a little, but we'll see.
4873  Other / Meta / Re: The ICO pumpers problem. on: March 15, 2018, 12:19:36 PM
~snip~

This seems useful and neat at a glance but you need to remember that unless you make it like once per account for lifetime it'll be again endless cycle of alts since it's not like making alts is particularly hard given there's no email checks, no rules on multi accounting unless it's ban evasion of a spam/plagiarism ban

Really, is there no email checks when you register? I have registered quite some time ago and I don't remember this option, but this explains why there are so many new accounts created on a daily basis.
Well then I'm really looking forward to the new forum. Many things will be changed for good.

Something really needs to be done about this stuff. The forum is just getting overrun with both sig campaign spammers and scumbags using bots to promote their own scams and it's only going to get worse. Maybe it might be worth looking into requiring some amount of merit before you can post in certain sections. That would probably kill most of these bots. I have also previously suggested that all new users are essentially shadowbanned until a moderator checks their posts and then either whitelists or nukes them. Obvious bot accounts like this would probably be very easy to spot and most wouldn't make it past whitelisting.

I cannot agree with you more.
Maybe the posts in off topic should not be counted as activity posts and reduce the shitload of garbage there.
4874  Other / Meta / The ICO pumpers problem. on: March 15, 2018, 10:05:14 AM
After some time researching the ico pumpers and reporting quite some profiles already, I see a new strategy in this profitable business.
Creating new account only for one bump. This generates thousands of new accounts per day only for to bump one thread one time.
Here are some examples>

https://archive.fo/tXK6Y#selection-2859.0-2859.11

Profiles with only one post which is a quote of the Ann post.

Thanks to Vod, now I can search more efficient for ICO abusers:
See here >
http://dev.martinlawrence.ca/bpip/search.aspx?q=hoanglong
http://dev.martinlawrence.ca/bpip/search.aspx?q=haidang

Note. Some accounts show that they have 0 post count but this is because the last profile database update on the bpip was done before the account had any activity.

This is just a brief example of the current situation. If I go deeper I guess I'll find more and more abusers.

I hope the admins can find a solution also to this problem, like restricting brand new accounts to post on the Ann section or having at 15 activity in order to post there, and make it more difficult for those shitposters.

4875  Other / Meta / Re: [Tips] Guide for forum search on: March 15, 2018, 08:35:35 AM
Really good guide.
While searching for something specific with the forum search engine I often get server errors so I gave up using it, but the google search is pretty accurate.
I'll list your guide in my Comprehensive guide to Bitcointalk if you don't mind.
4876  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Risers on: March 15, 2018, 08:11:20 AM
I hate repeating myself but if it is useful why not, my earlier comment applies here too.
I cannot answer but what I can suggest is to move your post into the Mining section, there is a bigger chance get the info you want.I have posted earlier institution how to move your topic, see below:

Better move your topic to the Mining section or the Pool section. You gonna get answers there.
Mining section > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=160.0
Pool section > https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=199.0

You can move your topic by scrolling to the bottom on the page and clicking the "move topic" located in the bottom left corner.
4877  Other / Meta / Re: Earning merit points by being a cry baby! on: March 14, 2018, 11:25:29 PM
Merit has indeed fucked up the ranking system here, but if you are here a year ago you are in a good position only these new folks are suffering including me i am 5days away to rank up for a full member i am too unlucky because i didnt rushed to rank up while there are no merit system. Now we dont have any chance of getting rankup because those merit source wont give any if are posting quality contents.

OK, let me tell you something, I'm in the same position like you and I'm not here like you for more than a year but just a few months. For those few months I learned so much, found so many interesting people and now see the forum with different eyes than before. It was a place to get me some coins to gamble with, now I'm enjoying every minute spend here. I'm really spending time here, more than 16 day shows the counter at the moment.

You are the after merit, well merit is everywhere just look around. The real people here are fighting a good fight against the spam here and if you join the force you may be rewarded with some merit as well.

There are many ways to contribute and there is really no need to be nullius, to be successful.

Farewell from an ordinary user Wink
4878  Other / Meta / Re: Any indicators to show that someone is banned? on: March 14, 2018, 05:32:15 PM
Thank you people, it will be really useful to have something like this.

Maybe it can be noted on the trust page (or elsewhere) as a neutral comment when and why the account was temporary/permanent banned. This will be very helpful to be able to browse the history of someone.

I guess those trading accounts now can easily fool people to buy banned account, because you can't check it.

Anyway, I'll just keep reporting them as I do now.. poor Mods I can almost feel their struggle..

@Vod  I will go through your link as soon as I get back on my PC.

Thanks again,  I think we are winning the war against the spam, finally Smiley
4879  Other / Meta / Any indicators to show that someone is banned? on: March 14, 2018, 03:00:50 PM
Hello folks,

Is there a way to check if someone is banned? I'm reporting some ICO pumpers but I don't know if they are already banned.
Don't want to waste time on already reported accounts.
TY.
4880  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One (1) Merit point to Rank-up Service, Jr. to Hero Members Are Welcome. on: March 14, 2018, 09:49:03 AM
Fist of all, If you participate in the service, please don't reward me with Merit because if I reward you back, it will be considered as a Merit trade and we both will be punishes for such action. Exchanging Merit is against the rules.

This is good statement as I agree with it.

This is a No from me, you have copied the from Cointelegraph without posting the sources or quoting the text, so it appears that you have written it, which you haven't done.
Refer to the rules, copy-pasting is not allowed.

Same as the previous NO, copied from here: Cointelegraph

Another NO, making a similar threads, in different sections and begging for merit are also against the rules.

Objective Conclusion:

You will not receive merit from me this time but here are some tips to improve your posting:
  • Don't copy-paste and fool people that you have written it. Always cite/quote your sources.
  • Don't beg for merit.
  • Do not post same thread in different sections.
  • Avoid the one line meaningless posts.

I give merit for another people need this. Don't exchange for you.

This approach can be subject of speculations, it can also be interpreted as a arranged "You give me, I'll give you back" deal.

My thread start with: "I read in newspaper, i think it will hopeful for newbie. Let enjoy it ^^"

As I said earlier mention your sources with links, quote. After I noted this you could have edited your previous posts till now in the way it should be.

I have my own opinion in this thread, don't copy all of this thread.

My previous comment apples here too.

The first thread, i make in wrong section. But i don't have right to delete it.

There is an option to move your thread from one section to another. You should have asked how to either delete or move your thread.
