4861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Aug 2021] Mempool empty! Use this opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs! on: August 20, 2021, 04:22:56 AM
Do you have any rule of thumb to know when to consolidate?

Let me explain. Until now I was in a signature campaign that paid me every six or eight weeks but with a payment for each week. In other words, after two months I received 8 payments, or inputs, of about $40 and I consolidated them immediately, especially because the mempool has been empty recently. Now I will receive weekly payments and I doubt until when to wait to consolidate. I suppose consolidating every week would be silly as LoyceV in the OP talks about "many small inputs".

Should I wait until I have 8-10 inputs? If I wait that long maybe the fees have skyrocketed.
4862  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you be able to take an additional work if required? on: August 19, 2021, 08:43:45 AM
Not really. I have got a job and I think I could say I have two side hustles by playing poker and by writing here for signature campains. Apart from that I have to live.

To get a second job would mean to have absolutely no time for me and/or have to give up side hustles, which I would only do if I was very well paid because poker and writing here do not pay me as if it were a second full-time job but I do those activities comfortably from my computer, and with freedom of schedule. I can write/play poker more or less depending on how I am feeling, if I have a more busy social life that week etc.
4863  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your betting budget on: August 19, 2021, 08:38:40 AM
For me, a reasonable gambling budget is 3 to 5% of my income, although I may allow more if I have some extraordinary income that month. How do you plan your gambling or fun budget?

Lol. In my case, I include gambling in my monthly budget, but on the income side, coming from poker. It is an estimate, because not every month is the same.

What I did before is that the money I earned from poker I put in a fund to the S&P 500. Now take it and invest it in Bitcoin instead. It's between 5 to 15% of my income.

When I discovered the crypto world I deposited and played a bit in a crypto casino to see what it was like and also occasionally I've been to land-based casinos with friends and played a bit there but I don't have a monthly budget to spend.
4864  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will not be able to stay above 45k for ten days in a row ever again. on: August 19, 2021, 05:51:09 AM
What I mean is that it's the proven max price bitcoin can sustain under the most optimistic assumption. The real value is zero, as I have proven.

You have not proven anything. The objective value theories, which can also be applied to the stock market, are based on the difference between the real value and the price assigned by the market to the financial asset at that moment. Good analysts who know how to make good appraisals of objective values, give predictions in which the objective value and the market price tend to get closer and closer in the long term.

In your case, it is only moving away.
4865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is more Marxist Incline on: August 19, 2021, 05:16:25 AM
I certainly don't see any marxism here.

I agree with @cr1776, you’re mixing things up here.

Decentralization has nothing to do with Marxism...
In a marxist society you wouldn't own any bitcoins. All your coins would be seized by the communist party or the big brother. Wake up!

I agree, he is wrong and mixes things up. For example:

a capitalist state is more tax oriented

No, in reality pure capitalism, has few taxes, and ancap would tell you that it should tend to 0 taxes. So check your notions because it seems to me that what happens here is that you are a Marxist and then you tend to see everything in your prism, but try to see things from an objective point of view.
4866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin instant transactions are less secure on: August 19, 2021, 05:10:25 AM
I think the OP is speaking more from hearsay than from his own experiences doing Bitcoin transactions:

As you know, each Bitcoin transaction usually takes a few seconds, and confirmation of the same transaction starts ten minutes after that.

If you pay the highest fee, it might start 10 minutes on average but it is not strange to have to wait for more than an hour for the next block confirmation. To talk about instant transactions, however much they are immediately transmitted to the blockchain, I would say is inaccurate. If we were talking about LN, like Jack Maller's Strike, as you can see in the following 1-minute video, I think we could talk about instant transactions, but not about normal transactions on the blockchain, even if you pay a high fee to make them go fast.
4867  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It takes years to build a reputation and seconds to break it on: August 19, 2021, 05:01:22 AM
Even if the support works perfectly in the casino, there will be people who, frustrated with failure, will accuse them of cheating. Of course, anyone who plays for a long time knows that such things happen, but remember that the gambling industry is a very large and ruthless market.

I wouldn't generalize things here. The fact that there are many gambling sites trying to scam their customer doesn't mean that the whole market is ruthless. Honest sites struggle for years to build up a good reputation, and they should not be treated as one gang with scammers.

I would not generalize either. And I add, a casino that works is one of the most profitable businesses there can be, and even more if it is online, so it has lower costs. Another thing is that it does not get much clientele, for example, and that is where some casino owners instead of thinking how to improve their business think about scamming, but a casino that makes money does not even think about it, because they are money making machines and the owners will earn much more and will have less headaches for running a honest business than trying to scam people.
4868  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are NFT games also another way to gamble your money? on: August 19, 2021, 04:54:26 AM
Taking that into account mostly when we deal with investment, we are risking our money. But the fact remains that in investing you are betting with your knowledge and the way you foreseen the future of certain assets, while when you are into classic gambling you are more into luck though there are also basis or some info that you can use but most of the time luck is the one that influenced the outcome.

Opinion probably base from how you understand what you are doing and how you interpret or believe the difference and similarities of the two venues.

That is the key. In knowledge. That difference you mention can be applied to many areas. Someone who buys shares, if he does so without knowledge, relying on the latest tip he has seen in a blog, is gambling. If he does it with great knowledge about the company and the market, he is investing. The same could be applied to poker, for example. If you play poker like you play roulette, you are gambling. So, yes, in NFT games it is perfectly possible to gamble.
4869  Economy / Services / Re: [Open] ▄■▀■▄ 🌟Bitvest.io🌟 - Plinko Sign Camp (Member-Hero Accepted)(New2) on: August 19, 2021, 04:48:09 AM
I'm going to write this farewell post, thanking Lightlord and Brainboss for giving me the opportunity to participate in the campaign for almost a year.

I also want to express my disagreement of the very negative opinion expressed by Marvelman.

In the time I've been here, the rates if you complete the maximum number of posts have been similar to those of other campaigns, the only thing is that in this one you have to write more. As there is no fiat equivalence, and the rates are changed only from time to time, it can be unfavorable if the Bitcoin price goes down, but also favorable if it goes up. I think when Bitcoin went up to over $65k I got to $60 for a week and I hadn't even reached tier B or Sr member slot.

It has its positives and negatives that everyone has to weigh. Low tiers pay little, yes, but because the campaign wants to encourage people to stay for a long time. I want to remind people who go through these slots to consolidate fees.

I have left, partly because of the drop in rates but partly also because it was a challenge to be accepted in another campaign, with other post requirements. I made an attempt, and if I had not been accepted I would have happily stayed here.

To those of you who are staying, or have joined now, congratulations because you are staying with one of the longest campaigns with Brainboss as manager, who is always attentive and available for anything you can ask him.

Keep up the good work.

I'll see you around.

I just discovered this thread and it does nothing but motivate me. Yesterday I realized that of the merits I have earned, more than half have been in the last 120 days.

I doubt I'll ever reach half of fillippone's level, who if it weren't for the fact that he registered three years later than LoyceV, would probably be competing with him to be number 1 in terms of merit earned, but I do believe I can do better and better.
4872  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: What if there was Crypto credit as a way to legally avoid capital gain taxes on: August 18, 2021, 12:53:57 PM
You are not expressing yourself very clearly but I get the idea. There is some There is something that is already invented, that some people use and that allows you to enjoy your profits without selling, and therefore without incurring a taxable event: it's borrowing against your Bitcoin, or crypto.

This is what millionaires have long done with other types of assets, and what Saylor has now popularized with his videos. I'll leave you with two (which are not Saylot's) that explain it:

Michael Saylor's Strategy to Retire Off of Bitcoin | Tax-Free Wealth

Using Bitcoin Loans To Buy Anything

This should be done carefully, with a good debt to equity ratio and making sure you have cash flow to spare for payments.
4873  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why can forums cultivate the ability to think independently? on: August 18, 2021, 12:47:17 PM
A bit of an optimistic view of the forums, I think. You can find diamonds in them, but they are hidden among a lot of junk. Just as they can make you rethink things, you can learn about the more outlandish conspiracy theories out there.

But if I had to make a balance, it would be more positive than negative. In the forums you can learn how to make money, like playing poker, there are economics and finance forums, and then there is this forum. So yes, they can help us but all that glitters is not gold.

4874  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Economic Costs of Gambling on: August 18, 2021, 05:03:49 AM
As long as the adrenaline is focus in gambling I don't think there will be a cure, the excitement of playing in a gambling venue online or offline create an adrenaline rush and this is something that makes the gambler alive, the professional can cure by giving the gambler an alternative to focusing the energy, it could be anything like playing basketball or painting there are many things to redirect the energy.

Agreed, it's the same with carnival rides that give you an adrenaline rush and make you want to try again, as well as games that make you feel the rush and make you want to try again and again in the hopes of winning. The feeling of winning in gambling is unlike any other that I can describe, and it is extremely addictive, unlike playing games or any physical games. It makes you feel extremely happy and amazed in ways that no words can express, but it will make the gambler addicted to it.

That is the problem. Many times problem gamblers know that what they are doing is wrong, that they should stop, that they are losing more than they can. But it's not a question of rationality, it's an emotional question. For someone who has had serious problems with gambling the only solution is to quit completely, in the same way that for an alcoholic the solution is not to drink another drop. Never. A single beer usually leads to the above pattern of self-destruction and for a problem gambler who has recovered, a single gamble usually triggers disaster.

4875  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What lie did you tell? on: August 18, 2021, 04:59:33 AM
This is not good, and this could lead to a more serious gambling problem.
Better not to lie to your parents and tell the real story, they’ll be mad yes but after that they will give you a good lesson and maybe guide you on the right way, gambling is not good at all.

If you have no extra money better not to gamble at all because you are being greedy and that is not healthy if you continue doing that kind of activities, its fine to lie sometimes but with regards to this one, its not ok because that money was meant for your basic needs.

I was thinking exactly the same. Losing more money than you can afford to, even money that you were supposed to use to buy food and then having to lie sounds a lot like someone who has a problem with gambling.

The OP does not mention if he has lost too much on subsequent occasions but I take it he is a gambler.

In my case, I am quite in control of the game, so I have never had to lie. Fingers crossed that this will continue to be the case.
4876  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: With all your assets, Investing in Bitcoin is really a madness or beneficial ? on: August 18, 2021, 04:53:48 AM
What do you want us to tell you in a Bitcoin forum? You don't have to be a fortune teller to find out.

The level of exposure to risk is another matter. If you sell everything you own to invest in Bitcoin, you are risking a lot. If you do well, you're going to make a lot of money, but it's better to be diversified. If you have your house, don't sell it, if you have stocks or other assets, don't sell them, but from there, the more you invest in Bitcoin, the richer you will get.

4878  Other / Meta / Re: Are useful links allowed or are they categorically excluded? on: August 17, 2021, 07:27:57 AM
Without knowing more specifically about the case, we can't say more, but as you have been told, the most normal thing is that he was spamming. I don't think that a simple referral link will get you banned.

You can tell your "friend" to look in the email inbox, where there is usually a quote of the deleted post to post it here so we can analyze it better.

I usually post a lot of links too and I've never been banned for that.

This leads me to think that the use of links can be an excuse to be banned at any time, depending on how the moderator on duty at that moment thinks! (not necessarily with malice but only for the rush to act!)

No way.
4879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WALMART is hiring a cryptocurrency product lead ! on: August 17, 2021, 07:21:26 AM
With news like this, anyone who thinks they are too late to buy Bitcoin should think twice. It is true that:

After reading this Walmart job listing all I can see is that they want to make something similar like Amazon is doing with making their own centralized walmart coin product,
instead of using already proven and tested and decentralized thing called Bitcoin.

But all these big companies are going to help popularize and normalize cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, which is No. 1. It will no longer be something weird, linked to scam or ponzi scheme when you can pay at Walmart using their shitcoin or with Bitcoin directly.
4880  Other / Off-topic / Re: No one knows when our time will be up on: August 17, 2021, 06:17:46 AM
Yes, it's one thing you become more and more aware of as the years go by. Little by little people you know are dying, and the alternative would have been worse. I think you have to live trying to enjoy yourself and doing things that make you feel good at the time of your death when you look back, things that you don't regret having done.

Another thing is not to get too catastrophic and live as if you were going to die tomorrow.
