Or are you just fishing for Merit?

I think it is obvious he is. There are every now and then posts like this trying to, not only in this section, I am sure you have seen them. I guess it was just a rethorical question.
5782  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Stimulus has passed - law of the land. on: March 16, 2021, 11:31:12 AM
It’s starting to feel like the government is paying my bills at this point. I give it 2 more presidents at the most before we’re all getting monthly checks. Everything feels like we’ve moving towards universal income, it’s just a matter of time.

Good luck with going in the direction of Venezuela. They have kind of universal income there with 26 minimum wage increases in the past few years which leave a minimum wage of less than $1 (like 0,5M bolivares). So everybody is equally hungry.

This is not stimulus. It is government handouts to people that largely do not need the money. More importantly, and not mentioned in the OP, it is pork funding democrat special interests.

This.
5783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Signal app accepts Bitcoin Donations on: March 16, 2021, 11:14:59 AM
Good news but what would be the bomb would be for Facebook to announce something similar for Whatsapp, as Saylor recommended. I understand that Signal is a minority app, as I had not heard of it (but I had heard of others like Viber or Telegram).
5784  Economy / Speculation / Re: The effect of the expected stimulus package on Btc. on: March 16, 2021, 11:12:20 AM
Simply put, this debate shows what a piece of garbage stimulus checks are. They are stimulus to inflate financial assets. In the stock market there is the same debate: how much of the checks will end up in it. I heard on CNBC that 60% (of the total going to speculation) is expected to go to Bitcoin and the other 40% to the stock market.
5785  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Internet connectivity - Gambling wins/losses on: March 16, 2021, 04:14:48 AM
Yes, it has happened to me, I think it has happened to all of us at some time to lose the connection when you are playing a game. Normally in poker they give you some time to reconnect, but many times when you lose the connection you have to restart the site and you lose the hand you were playing. It's annoying, but I've learned over time that it's something that will happen from time to time and you have to accept it, tilting can only be negative.
5786  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could be in for a very long sustained bull market on: March 16, 2021, 04:07:43 AM
It is clear that institutions are not characterized by selling en masse at the first of FUD and neither are they characterized by compulsive buying due to FOMO. If we continue with relatively steady and spaced out buying by institutions, which is what it looks like, we may enter a supercycle, although it need not be as exaggerated as Dan Held predicts, with a price cap between $800k and $1M, but volatility has to slowly moderate.

5787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sold my first Bitcoin and am happy on: March 16, 2021, 03:57:16 AM
Just sold 5% of my Bitcoin that I've been holding for 3 years and I feel satisfied doing so.

Congratulations. It was time to enjoy a little of the benefits, I follow a similar strategy.

It's okay to sell 5% of your Bitcoin. Think you can do this when the price reaches certain milestones without affecting your position. For example, you can sell 5% more when it reaches $100k, another 5% when it reaches $150k, etc. That way you enjoy some of the profits while staying mostly invested and have more and more equivalent in fiat (as long as the price keeps going up and we don't enter bear market).

5788  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ... Vitamin-D Rollout following 82% reduction in COVID-19 deaths in Spain on: March 15, 2021, 01:50:09 PM
This is one thing I did at the start of the pandemic, especially as I came from night work, I bought a bottle of max strength Vit D (5000IU) and I take one everyday with my eggs in the morning.

5K is not bad. Ideally you should had your blood tested but with 5k daily is not so necesarry. Try to take some sun if you can, short exposures with no sunscreen and with large amounts of your body exposed. The combination will surely give you decent levels and an strengthened immune system.
5789  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Why do people forget their passwords? on: March 15, 2021, 01:46:33 PM
I don't think it is so common nowadays to lose their seed, although it is inevitable that little by little some of them will continue to be lost. But I think it was more typical years ago, when Bitcoin was just starting and people didn't know if it was going to become a thing yet. Back then people were more careless. Today, however, even if you have only $1k, you try to have the seeds well guarded, not just because of the current value, but because in the future that $1k may be worth $10k or $50k. That wasn't so clear in 2010 for example.

5790  Economy / Speculation / Re: We are going to lose 20% today on: March 15, 2021, 01:42:53 PM
I like speculation topics but you never get anything clear. You would like to know the future price but there is no algorithm to determine it, so you can only speculate and speculate.

Regarding the price drop, I don't care. I'm still holding and yawning. If you go long term, small fluctuations like this are no big deal.
5791  Other / Off-topic / Re: How is life fair? on: March 15, 2021, 12:21:35 PM
That is simply because those measures are not aimed at helping at those who need it. What they aim at is getting votes. It's called populism. Then they also fail to tell the other side of the story: the inflation that these measures entail. I feel sorry for you, now you know that daddy state is not going to come and save you and that you have to make a living for yourself.
5792  Economy / Speculation / Re: Think before investing, the moon has limits on: March 15, 2021, 12:17:13 PM
Yeah, well the moon has limits but the point is, what are those?

Many people expect Bitcoin to overtake gold as the best store of value in the world, that would mean a 10x from now, not bad. I don't agree with the general view that because the price is constantly rising and breaking ATHs, it has to crash soon. In fact there is a trading strategy (in the stock market) consisting in buying precisely when there is that tendency, because that means the asset is strong. We can't just get a general rule here, we have to consider the particularities of this precise asset and everything points to Bitcoin keeping rising during at least the following months.

As for diversification, if that means outside the crypto world, I agree. Having almost 100% of your net worth in Bitcoin is very risky. Probably very profitable also but very risky.

BTW I've just seen that the token tab has disappeared. Is that temporary? I suppose FB is modifying the settings.
5794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Longtime bitcoin holder starting to question the future on: March 15, 2021, 08:01:54 AM
I just can't wrap my head around "the utility IS as a store of value", it does not make sense to me. At least before when people would ask "why does it have value", my answer was always, its super easy to transfer to anyone in the world, no middle man, nobody can stop you, its relatively fast (10-15 min), and FINALLY it has a limited supply, no central bank can print it.

I can. I don't know what the problem is. What is clear is that for day to day payments, in the end it will be used either LN, if it ends up succeeding, or some shitcoin, but Bitcoin as it is is succeeding as the best store of value in the world. For the same reason you say. Try sending $1M of gold in 15 minutes to Japan.

BTW: you've said you saw that but you haven't quoted: https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/m562vm/longtime_bitcoin_holder_starting_to_question_the/
5795  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fate or lack of control - Gambling on: March 15, 2021, 07:58:44 AM
It is lack of control and lack of understanding of the concept of expected value or mathematical expectation. There is no such thing as luck, betting results are pure mathematics. Another thing is that gambling has a high emotional component and many times people lose control.

Is there any possibility of dip after withdrawal and trade option is enabled on the site.
Should i sale right after that and rebuy the dip or should i keep hodl

Of course there is a possibility. Whether or not to sell depends. Are you a gambler? If you are, you better not sell because you can take advantage of the rewards program. But I see that what you want to do is to trade in the short term and that is a crytal-ball game. Nobody really knows what is going to happen with the price in the short term.

Vitamin D Is More Effective Than Flu Vaccine, Study Says
https://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk/?p=147900

People who have adequate Vitamin D levels, I am talking about a minimum of 60ng/ml, report that they either do not get colds and do not catch the flu, or if they do, they get over it quickly and with few symptoms. I myself have experienced that. Regarding COVID-19 there are similar studies but they don't make Big Pharma any money,
5798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need some suggestions regarding Bitcoin on: March 14, 2021, 05:56:27 PM
I'm someone who's very new to btc. I started investing last week. Last week I purchased some amount of BTC at $49k and sold them this week at $57k. I was planning to do the same thing for this week. What I really did, was that I checked the trends, and the price of btc used to go up during the weekdays and go down during the weekends, so I bought it when it was at its lowest (in the week), and sold them  on Friday (a considerably higher price).
But the price of a btc at the moment is $59500. I wanted to ask you all for suggestions here. Should I purchase some btc now or should I wait for the price to drop? I want to hold for cycles of 1-2 weeks at a time.
Will btc go up from what it is at the moment in the next 1-2 weeks? If yes, what price would it be (just make a guess/prediction) by the end of the week/2 weeks?

I go along the same lines as you have already been told, you are trying to time the market. In other words, you are playing with fire, and you are going to get burned. It's a matter of pure mathematics that the more you play that game the more likely you are to lose money.

The best strategy with a first-class pristine asset, such as Bitcoin, is to buy and hold. Do nothing else. In a few years you can sell some of it if it has gone up a lot and you want to realize profits. Now that is a conclusion you should come to for yourself.

5799  Economy / Economics / Re: Can the average buying of some companies be considered a sign of the bottom? on: March 14, 2021, 03:00:38 PM
All companies that have bought Bitcoin will sell it at some point, and this point will mostly be this year.

But do you have any rational argument to support that or is it just a hunch?

If we heed Saylor, who's who talked Musk into buying Bitcoin, the companies buying now are not going to sell in at least 10 years and some are never going to sell. In any case, they will take loans using Bitcoin as collateral. Why are you going to sell the world's best store of value if it has not yet exceeded the market cap of gold? If you told me they want to sell when Bitcoin reaches $10 trillion market cap I could still see the logic in it but the way you put it, either you argue it or I don't see the point.
5800  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: HSBC canada not allowing to buy any crypto related instrument on: March 14, 2021, 02:56:24 PM
Every bank has its own rules when it comes to cryptocurrencies, some explicitly forbid it, others keep it in a gray zone, for others only profit is important and they do not create problems for their clients.

As for HSBC, I’m honestly surprised that they’ve become so careful about where clients ’money comes from and even more where it goes - since a few years ago they laundered money for drug cartels and received loads of money in trucks. The bank that was established as a source of funding for the giant trade of opium into the Chinese markets in the nineteeth century, should no longer even exist if there was law and justice.

My advice is to change the bank, but first send an official letter and find out what is allowed and what is not.

Man, what they don't want is to be challenged. As they are dedicated to money laundering, they are terrified of cryptocurrencies, because they can take clients away from them, and that is why they try to prevent them from being used, in vain, of course.
