4941  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Some problems with Electrum wallet on: March 18, 2019, 06:21:07 PM
If you have your seed words you will definitely be able to restore your wallet.  You will not need to remember your password.  The only way this will not work is if you added an extension to your seed words, and did not include that extension in your backup, or you forgot that extension.

Here's the step by step to restore your wallet using the seed words:

Open Electrum and click File>New/Restore, then click Next.
Select "Standard Wallet" and click Next.
Select "I already have a seed" and click Next.

On the "Enter Seed" page enter your seed phrase, then click on the Options button:

When the Options dialog comes up, select BIP39 seed (and Extend if applicable.)

And last, choose one of these three options.  If it doesn't work at first, repeat the above steps, and choose a different option, keep trying until you've tried all three options.  One is bound to work.

There are so many acronyms in life, and in the crypto sphere with new altcoins popping up all the time, and all the bitcoin forks and forks of forks...  Things get confusing.  I'm resigned to typing out the whole thing: bitcointalk.org.
4943  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Grin | PoW Mining | Electronic transactions for all. Community driven. on: March 18, 2019, 05:49:00 PM
Anyone still mining this GRIN shit ?

Boring AF I tell you !

I have regerts.

HODLing.

My electricity is too expensive.  I have a set of solar panels that are not hooked up yet, so I'm going to hold off on Grin until that's settled.  I can still earn a little bit while mining ETH, so that's where my rig is pointing now.

Thule vs. the world, with CH as the top cheerleader.  I think I just visualized the next Bitcointalk feature length movie trilogy.  Just don't turn the dark side.
4945  Other / Meta / Re: Account banned - Limx Dev - Reason is a one-year-old message on: March 18, 2019, 04:56:11 PM
Making one post in an airdrop thread won't get you banned, I know because I've made that mistake myself.  I could see that account being banned for spamming the forum, but odds are it's because the account continued to promote the airdrop.

4946  Other / Meta / Re: Account banned on: March 18, 2019, 03:51:21 PM
I only spent a little time looking, but I didn't see any plagiarism.  If he was banned for that post linked above, I think it should be reversed.  I think we'll have to wait for the moderator that banned him to know for sure.
4947  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump Tweet: SNL is colluding with Russians on: March 18, 2019, 03:40:47 PM
I got a kick out of a couple of Tweets that the US President tweeted earlier this morning and waned to share:
Quote from: realDonaldTrump
It’s truly incredible that shows like Saturday Night Live, not funny/no talent, can spend all of their time knocking the same person (me), over & over, without so much of a mention of “the other side.” Like an advertisement without consequences. Same with Late Night Shows...Should Federal Election Commission and/or FCC look into this? There must be Collusion with the Democrats and, of course, Russia! Such one sided media coverage, most of it Fake News. Hard to believe I won and am winning. Approval Rating 52%, 93% with Republicans. Sorry!  #MAGA

I found it hilarious that he is claiming SNL is colluding with Russia, which is obviously not true. He is clearly making fun of the conspiracy theory being pushed by mainstream media outlets that he and his campaign colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.

The MSM has been the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party for decades, and it's never been more obvious than it is now.  Trump is exposing all the corruption in that industry.

One of the most hilarious and ironic events of recent days: Jeff Zucker winning the First Amendment Award.  Nobody even watches CNN anymore, they have zero credibility and would be the fist to squash dissenting points of view.

4948  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How does shapeshift/changelly work? on: March 18, 2019, 03:27:08 PM
I've never used changelly, but ShapeShift used to be anonymous.  Now ShapeShift requires some KYC information.  Since they are merely middle-men between you and the full-blown exchanges, charging you middle-men fees as well as the fees the exchange is charging, I don't know why anybody would use them.

If you have to submit KYC anyway might as well register to a full featured exchange, control your buy and sell orders yourself, and save money on fees.
4949  Other / Meta / Re: Bug in the trust system? on: March 17, 2019, 04:30:08 PM
Custom Trust lists have large recursive implications because the ones you trust directly (Depth 0) make you trust the ones they trust (Depth 1), and the users they trust (Depth 2).

I thought I found the one, but I was wrong. I got to go now, if you don't find it I'll look deeper. It could also be someone changed his Trust list after yesterday's trust data dump.

I'll keep looking for a connection between someone I'm trusting the account in question.  I realize you compile your list manually and there's some delay.  I've found it very helpful, it's much appreciated.

ETA:
I found the connection, I guess I didn't realize the depth of trusted users.
4950  Other / Meta / Bug in the trust system? on: March 17, 2019, 04:04:59 PM
I've been keeping up my custom trust list, using LoyceV's list to assess the entries, and selectively modify my list to keep it trim yet effective.  I recently removed some of my ~distrusted entries because I realized their inclusion has no effect on my desired results.  However, I noticed an anomaly, specifically with one user account: MoneypakTrader.com.

If I'm understanding the new trust system correctly MoneypakTrader.com should not be DT2, however it appears that he is.  My list does not include any users who have included MoneypakTrader.com in their custom list, and MoneypakTrader.com is not included by any DT1 members that I know of, yet if I remove <~MoneypakTrader.com> from my list the accounts review show as trusted reviews.

Am I the only one with this issue?  I might be mistaken about how the system is supposed to work, and missing something.  Any thoughts?

4951  Economy / Reputation / Re: mdayonliner - Are you the new owner of this account? on: March 17, 2019, 03:41:34 PM
I remember the thread where you earned your first red tag from hilariousandco, and at the time I thought you were pushing a little hard to be accepted by this community.  I didn't think anything of it, because I wasn't aware how scrutinous one really needed to be to avoid being scammed on this forum.  At first I thought hilariousandco was being a bit harsh, but now I realize he was trying to warn the community to be careful, extremely careful.

Since that thread, I've come to believe that you are an attention seeker.  Not in the way of a troll, but more in the way of a jealous child.  Starting yet another self-reputation thread doesn't shake that belief.  It's been my observation that those who complain about all the drama they have in their lives are directly responsible for the existence of that drama.

Just out of curiosity, which account did TalkStar accuse you of owning?

4952  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum and VPN on: March 16, 2019, 04:42:47 PM
Hi.
I´m a lucky user of Electrum. But I don´t know, why Electrum keeps disconnected when I run Electrum with VPN connected? Tried several servers and nothing. After disconnecting from VPN and using my real IP, Electrum connects and works without any issue.
Is there a workaround to fix it?
Thanks for any help. I´m using PureVPN.

It would help to know the OS you're using and the version of Electrum.   I've had the same issue with Ubuntu in the past, but it's been a while.  I've never had the issue come up on windows.

This is the resolution I used to fix the problem on Ubuntu.
4953  Other / Meta / Re: Users should be notified when being put on DT on: March 16, 2019, 01:24:52 PM
I only have around 150 posts to my name. I am still relatively new. I had no idea whatsoever I was on DT so I was a little more liberal when I left negative feedback - I thought my opinion didn't matter. I found out I WAS DT after I left false feedback (my mistake I removed it). since I am only a member I think it was a little unfair gmaxwell didn't inform me he was putting me on DT, and in the future, people should be informed via PM that they have been put on the list.

Thoughts?

Whether you're on DT or not, be confident and accurate in the feedback you leave for others.  If you are unsure it's better to not leave the feedback at all.  If you're going to call someone a scammer, be prepared to defend your accusation.  Pretend you're the one who will be put on trial to prove the accusation.  If you aren't 100% confident the evidence that you or others have presented supports your claims then don't make those claims.

The amount of posts you have should have nothing to do with it, use better judgement and you'll be fine.
4954  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum clients older than 3.3 can no longer connect to public electrum servers on: March 16, 2019, 01:14:16 PM
edit: the upgrade is not automatic. you have to download and install the latest version from electrum.org.

Wouldn't it be more secure to process updates through the software it's self, rather than rely on users going to the right website for download checking signatures?  Is that something the dev team is planning for future releases?

@everyone monitoring this thread:

If you want this terrorist to fail in his attempt to destroy the gains we've made in the realm of racism and bigotry, then do the exact opposite of what he wishes for.

If you're Christian, go to Mosque on Friday, and a Synagogue on Saturday.  If you're Muslim, go to a Synagogue on Saturday, and a Church on Sunday.  If you're Jewish go to a Mosque on Friday and Church on Sunday.  Introduce yourself to the congregation, tell them how you're presence is a protest to the hatred and bigotry some would have us cultivate as a result of this tragedy.
4956  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: What is "Animazing" and why does it come up with ThomasV's pub key? on: March 15, 2019, 08:01:38 PM
C&P into notepad and save as .asc, import.  Right?

The sig file has to have the exact same name as the executable file with .asc as the final extension.
So, just like this:
Code:
electrum-3.3.4-setup.exe.asc

Import that key and it comes up as "Animazing@gmail.com" signed 1/15/2013 with the wrong fingerprint.

If you go to the download page on electrum.org, near the top of the page there's link to ThomasV's public key hosted on gnupg.net.
Look for the text "Sources and executables are signed by ThomasV," and click on the link.  It'll take you to this page:
http://keys.gnupg.net/pks/lookup?search=0x6694D8DE7BE8EE5631BED9502BD5824B7F9470E6&fingerprint=on&op=index

I've seen Animazing@gmail.com included in ThomasV's public key, so I don't think there's anything wrong there.

It's also fair to point out the OP has an outstanding loan.

500 Merit Hero, sounds like the name of a mediocre emo band.

I've heard their music and its slightly better than the One Merit Juniors.

I prefer Metal Meritocrocy, they've got that grungy beat thing going, and you can dance to it.

If this startup is approved by the forum, then probably everything I will become an investor of this project. The idea of the project has all the chances to exist.

It certainly has all the chances to exist, yet it never really did.

Have patience, it's only two more weeks of waiting.  Wink

Am waiting for your dumbfucks merit whores proof that i'm wrong

You don't need my help, you seem to have no trouble proving yourself wrong.  You're a proven liar, hypocrite, and now you can add attempted extortionist to the list of character traits.  Here you are attempting to tarnish the reputation of a campaign manager as retaliation for denying you a spot on one of his campaigns.

If you have trouble with a casino operating without license, why are attacking one their employees?  Why don't you contact the authorities to investigate the legality of their operation?
