4981  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump calls for $2.7 trillion in budget cuts over 10 years on: March 11, 2019, 05:40:31 PM
Actually you are really agreeing with me. I'm stating that California is almost a country in its own right, but it is being exploited and abused by its overlords in Washington.

The exploitation I'm living with is not coming from Washington, but rather from Sacramento.  As a firearms owner, every night I go to sleep a law abiding citizen, yet I risk waking up as a felon through no action of my own.  This is how they treat citizens who value independence and accountability.

The state has blown $77 billion worth of taxpayers' money on a train project they cannot finish.  They refuse to cut their losses and insist on spending another $3 billion (of Federal funds) on this doomed project, just so the money doesn't go towards something that will actually help Americans, like Trumps wall.

Several times in recent posts you've used the term "regime change" and you're so close to pointing out the root of the problem, but you always fail to see it as it truly is.  The most despondent areas of our country all have one thing in common; Democrats have had a monopoly on power for decades.  California is the prime example, and quite ripe for a regime change.

It is sad too, because all the people who fucked that state up are now fleeing the results of that failing state and moving to others then immediately trying to change the government into the system they just fled. It is terrifying.

This is so true, it's mind boggling.  A decade ago Idaho was one of those sanctuaries for people who love freedom, and now it is struggling with it's abundance of Californication.

4982  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Recovering BTC from Electrum phishing hack?? PLEASE HELP on: March 11, 2019, 05:12:07 PM
Thank you, verify signature?

Proving you own the address that the funds were stripped from doesn't help you at this point.

If the authorities get involved and happen to find the culprit, and (eventually) proceed to returning the bitcoin to it's rightful owners, then maybe they'll ask for a signature verification.  But the odds of that happening are slim to none.

Like Lucius said, you're not likely to ever see that money again, unfortunately.  Hopefully you didn't lose much and will be able to recover from your loss.  Think of it as paying for an education, and knowledge is priceless.

Could someone please share their .bat file setting for grin29 on grinmint?  I tried to run it last night, but it wouldn't run.  Thanks in advance.

4984  Other / Meta / Re: Ban on: March 11, 2019, 03:38:42 PM
Wow, I stand corrected. I suppose the monkeys would be better put to use brute forcing private keys.

There's a scammer somewhere that's going to your advice to heart.  Oh, the humanity!  Just the thought of all those monkeys in a Private-Key-Brute-Forcing-Chain-Gang makes me squeamish.
4985  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump calls for $2.7 trillion in budget cuts over 10 years on: March 11, 2019, 03:32:06 PM
But his offence budget, and the wall budget are to be increased. When will Washington start to give it's colonies like the bankrupt California some support, and stop wasting the American tax payers' money on regime changes and banking and pharma profit increases?

That is an incredible amount of misinformation for such few words.  Trump is trying to end the occupation of Afghanistan, which has been the most expensive war in US history, and he's getting nothing but resistance from the globalists in DC.

The cost of the wall is a drop in the bucket compared to costs of dealing with a porous border.

California is the 7th largest economy in the world, yet we are a leach on the system, bankrupt by our politicians' socialist tendencies and complete ignorance of financial matters.
4986  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Adulthood is a scam, wish I could stay young forever on: March 11, 2019, 03:09:32 PM
This thread reminds me of a quote from Mark Twain:

Quote from: Mark Twain
When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years.

I think the point Mr. Twain is trying to make is that what we believe we know is often wrong, and as we learn we start to realize how ignorant we really are.

Your past life, including childhood and adolescence, contain the experiences that you draw on to maximise on the pleasures and benefits of your current life. I'm just hitting middle age ( I'm 77 ), and I've learnt that there are 3 things to avoid in life - debt, ill health, and bad neighbours. You can even arrange your affairs to minimise the effects of a rubbish and dishonest government such as the current one in the UK.

In order to remain debt free, there are only two options - increase your income, and/or reduce your expenditure. I'm a great believer in hedgerow cuisine. It's much healthier, and it's free. Nettles, dandelions, ground elder and wild garlic are great sources of minerals. The odd road kill pheasant or deer can make a real gourmet meal as well.

I'm reminded of the old schoolboy joke - What is the definition of adultery? - The state of being grown up.  Smiley

The difference between knowledge and wisdom is often lost on youth.  If you're middle aged, can I still refer to myself as an adolescent at 47?

4987  Other / Meta / Re: Ban on: March 11, 2019, 02:49:28 PM
Assuming each monkey is fed high-grade cocaine and can type 10 characters per second you'd need...

Can you please do the calculation for War and Peace without the high-grade cocaine?  I've always wondered what "long enough" means in reference to that metaphor, and giving all that cocaine to a monkey seems like such a waste.
4988  Other / Meta / Re: Zero To Hero in under 4 months. (My Merit Journey). on: March 11, 2019, 02:39:09 PM
i started to like the forum

Hey look, mikey likes it!

Congrats on earning all those merit points, good work.  You and I joined the forum right around the same time, but what's funny is you have more activity points than I do, even though I joined 10 days before you did.  I wonder why that is.

PS; two more posts and you'll be one of the eleets.
4989  Economy / Lending / Re: [Urgent] Loan 0.01btc, repayment in 7 days on: March 11, 2019, 02:16:21 PM
Lol!  100% interest in 5 days...  No, that's not a red flag in any way.  Seems totally legit.  Roll Eyes

[/sarcasm]
4990  Other / Meta / Re: [PERMABAN APPEAL] ChiBitCTy on: March 11, 2019, 02:13:35 PM
He is unbanned by the way.  Wink

Oh I did not know that either, that is good news.  He definately is a net positive for the forum, good to hear this  Smiley

I am happy this case has been reconsidered too.
As for the net positive, only future will tell. If not, swinging the ban hammer again remains possible anyway. Not like this was a risky move!

I think the bees are convinced he's a net positive.  Grin

No, not much risk in this move, and I'm glad he's been given a second chance.

@ChiBitCTy, welcome back.  Don't fuck it up.
4991  Other / Meta / Re: DT members - ethical to sell DT services? on: March 11, 2019, 05:42:48 AM
seems like an obvious attempt to gain some green trust himself.
How so?

I have seen numerous times where people where selling techniques or other stuff, where said good was provided for free to a DT to assess it. Can't find the thread again right now.

Some DT's did vouch for the digital good in question. This is no different.

There was also no trust feedback left.

Ah, just my skeptical nature getting the getting the better of me, I guess.  I see your point, but I'm not 100% sure "there is no difference."  In one case, a free sample of a product is offered, and in the other a bounty is offered for testing a service.  Again, I see your argument and tend to agree in the big picture they are similar, and in most cased there wouldn't be anything nefarious in the offer.

However, to play devil's advocate I'll ask; what's an appropriate bounty?  If one were to offer a bounty of 0.5BTC for testing a service, how unbiased will the reviewer be?  At what point does it start to look like something nefarious?
4992  Economy / Lending / Does the forum need another lender? on: March 11, 2019, 05:31:07 AM
I've been contemplating starting my own lending service, but it seems like there's a lot of competition for not many opportunities to lend safely.  Am I wrong?  I see some of you lenders are attracting clients who are honest and want to borrow legitimately and are getting paid back on time.  But it seems there are far more people looking to scam.

I'm interested in the opinions of all, including would-be competitors.  If you folks think there is too much competition as it is, then there's little use in me throwing my hat into the ring.

How many GB in memory each graphic card of your NVIDIA rig has?
I saw minimum requirement of graphic card's memory to mine Grin Coin is 4 GB, but really hope that there subsittive ways to mine the coin with less than 4GB in memory.

2x 1080ti @ 11gb
2x 1080 @ 8gb
2x 1070 @ 8gb.

Virtual memory set to 48gb.

How am I doing?  Any config settings you guys can recommend will be much appreciated.

4.5 gps is terrible for a 1080ti. Should be more in the 7 gps territory with BMiner on a 1080ti.

I just tried using bminer, but couldn't get it running.  I think I screwed up the .bat file script.  Can someone please share their .bat file settings for grinmint?  Are you keeping your password in the .bat file?  Or if you recommend another pool, I'd be happy to hear it.

TIA.
4994  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum long term viability on: March 11, 2019, 04:32:56 AM
  • [3] If ever, I will be useful for natively exporting the keys but can't be used to send out since if the development and support had ended, "good" servers might vanish as well (but that's a far-fetched scenario).

I didn't think about that, very good point.  And thanks for the explanation on the other points as well.

Another question, if I may paint a hypothetical;  If (god forbid) Electrum dev team gave up, and eventually servers stopped supporting the software, one could still install a version of Electrum which is compatible with his seed phrase and extract the private keys, correct?
4995  Other / Politics & Society / Re: De-monetization of basic life requirements and beyond. on: March 11, 2019, 03:23:58 AM
Actually I see some promising open source educational systems. I am going to wager a guess you are referring to state subsidized "free" education, not literal lesson plans available for use for all on the internet. Now as far as certifications go, I agree there needs to be some kind of standard setting authority to weed the incompetent people out. We should not however confuse free with government funded, and education with a certification or a degree. They are not always the same thing.

You're suspicions are correct, I was indeed using the word "demonetization" as a socialist might; code for "taxing the shit out of you giving you very little in return."

I agree there are so many ways to educate one's self available for free on the internet these days, it's really a marvelous time if you are able to take advantage of it.  Coding, astronomy, science, mathematics, language, all can be learned for free.
4996  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Grin | PoW Mining | Electronic transactions for all. Community driven. on: March 11, 2019, 02:30:59 AM
Try BMiner, I seem to get better results from it

I tried Grin Gold Miner, but I'm getting much better results with GrinPro.  I'll give BMiner a shot, thanks for the suggestion.

4997  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum long term viability on: March 11, 2019, 02:25:59 AM
Pardon my lack of technical knowledge, but wouldn't bitcoin core be able to import any HD wallet seed generated by Electrum?

Seems like as long as bitcoin is around there will be some way of accessing your wallet.  Worst case scenario you'll have to archive the last version of Electrum if the dev team gives up on it.

4998  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 11, 2019, 01:37:01 AM
Fourth consecutive week closed in the green... and I still have no fucking idea what the price is gonna do next. Bleh. If at least I had the balls to aggressively scalp around this range....

Keep buying, keep hodling.  'Nuff said.

Don't sell yourself short, she turned you into a time-traveling vixen.  Badass!
No, I was already a time traveller before my unexpected promotion from Prince Consort to Queen Consort. Still, I'd be lying if I said the new title didn't come with a few perks...

Pardon my blunder.  Last thing I need is to be vexed by a venerable time-traveling vixen with a veracity typical of her vulpine origin.
5000  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Marlboroza has stolen in a commercial center on: March 11, 2019, 01:04:19 AM
I have come to the conclusion that you are all crazy.
Cheesy

First thing he's said that makes any sense.  Like the late, great Waylon Jennings said; "I've always been crazy, it's kept me from going insane."
