There is a threshold for every coin and there is no way a coin will plummet, that miners would want to run at los, most especially the coins that are base on proof of work.
It will be hard for a newbie in cryptocurrency, to easily know the best time to start buying, which is why some buy when they are not supposed to.
Knowledge is power and it will work for those who crave to have it.

I am optimistic about 2019. Notwithstanding, you should still play safe and ensure you're investing in good coins. There won't only be ethereum hardfork, there are still other updates that will be released by 2019. Although, some people are taking advantage of it and are buying some of these good coins at this time, with the aim of selling high, whenever the market goes high again.

You might have a good technology, yet the coin will still dump. At this point, it is obvious that the people I'm the crypto space are the cause of dump. Sometimes, I still get baffled when people spread FUD on good coin with useful product and those who do not have much knowledge about what they have, still fall into the trap of selling cheap. This is how far the market can be manipulated.

I have already made my choices of investing in reputable and genuine coins and projects. Even if I cannot totally evade shitcoins, I will still do everything possible to ensure that the coins I am investing in are good ones.
We cannot also deny the fact that shit coins can also give profit if you truly know how to make proper trade on them, but if you are not skilled in trading, its better you invest in coins that have got good products and team.

Thanks OP for sharing your experience. Although there are times that if you want to hold a coin, you must have first done enough research, because there are some coins that are not worth holding. I have see quite some number of coins that never got as high as the price they were when they were first listed. The only thing I was seeing was downtrends and if such increase a little, it will dump again.

You have got a good question and that which will help your decision in the crypto space. I think you should not bother yourself yet to to far, if you just want a coin that possess those two qualities, then you should either invest in bitcoin or ethereum. You can get your short term and long term profits from these two coins, if you are careful in making your deals.

I am seriously waiting to  see more development, before I can agree if truly it is the king. It rose for some days and later dropped again. Although, the rate at which it plummeted was not much, to conclude it cannot take that position. I believe that time will tell if it is truly the king or not although, some weeks ago, it was as if ethereum was going to crash, but it proved a lot of people wrong.

Based on what is currently happening and the glimpse of what I have seen, cryptocurrency is here to stay and there is no doubt about it. ASA matter of fact, it will soon become a worldwide use, because very soon it will be adopted.
Just recently, some countries have decided to start using it, most especially for boosty their economy.

If it is can be very easy for people to identify good projects easily, it would have been good. There are times that a scam project might even disguise to be genuine and to even be the best.
If you can do intense research then you might feel safe when investing in a coin. It has to be intensive, because some of these projects can be deceptive and might not be able to differentiate.

There are so many projects these days, who have listed their coins and have also dump, below the peak they once had. It is not even peculiar to some set of ICOs alone, it is also very common among all. Then talking about recovery, the crypto market generally us yet to recover and so many coins have not also recovered. So I won't be surprised if that is happening.

The year we are in, 2018 has thought a lot people some very important lessons that we need to know, most especially when it comes to investing in cryptocurrency. There is no fault with crypto contrary to what some people think, it is because some people are taking advantage of it, because there is no law binding on them, but by next I believe some of these laws will start setting in and prices will get better. Although, it does not eliminate fluctuation in price.

It's a welcome idea and I see it succeeding. There have been several attacks and hacks on ethereum platform. If the mechanism of POS will make it tougher of any for of attack to be executed, then it will be of great help, most especially for tokens that use the platform of ethereum. POW is in its simplicity, which is why Isis very vulnerable, while POS is more complex, by  encoding extra rules into its software.

Sometimes I just try to imagine what the future, most especially starting from next year, holds for crypto enthusiasts. 2018 in the crypto space has been full of ups and downs. Perhaps there will be more control on the positive side over the prices of coin. Well, there seems to be some updates that might trigger the bull run, so investing now might  be an opportunity for those who have the fund to invest.

Investing in masternode coins, are passive ways of earning and which has been seen to be profitable. Although, there so many of them in the crypto space but contrary to the opinion of so many people, they  are not as profitable as I thought.
I just checked the same Transfer coin on CMC and I discovered that the 24 hours volume is not what I thought. Also, the market cap is too low, despite the low supply.

There are lots of masternode coins, but getting the best sometimes  might be difficult. Then sometimes, if you can find a new, new masternode coin, then it would be the best, because you will have enough dividend for it.
Sometimes the dividend promised is not the issue, but the authenticity of the project. One must be sure if the project will last long, because of what one might want to invest in it.

I would have said you should invest in the two, except you do not have the capacity to do that. Investing in either bitcoin or ethrerum now is still profitable. Then some times I look at the long term, except in a case where I see the market about to plummet, which is anyone needs to be watchful to know when it will be good to buy and when it will be good to sell. There are lots of determinants to this.

All alcoins, including bitcoin are meant to be sold, except one  decides to hodl. Then when it comes to trading, it involves buy and sell, but it does not mean quitting the crypto space. As a matter of fact, it is the act of buying and selling that keeps the crypto space busy and I do not see anything wrong in that.
Another option is holding part of the coins and trading the remaining.

If bitcoin shoukd die, then xlm cannot exist again, because bitcoin is still better, it is decentralized, it has more mass adoption than xlm and any other cryptocurrency. Then i do not see how bitcoin compares to xlm. There are still better coins than xlm, that we can think of comparing.
So the notion behind saying that bitcoin will die is to me very wrong and it cannot happen.

So many people were at loss, but their are measures to take in order to correct the mistakes. For instance, you could have invested more by buying when you saw that the price had fallen. You do not need to sell what you had or that you bought at loss. Or better still, you can opt into trading, if you can develop the skill. Trading can still be learnt, if you care to doing it.

A lot of people would say that ICO and STO are different, but there is not much difference between the two.
If you know ICO, then it will be easy for you to know what STO is.
Just as the first letter implies, Initial, it is the first token issued by an organization, company or industrial, in order to raise capital for a project, by issuing digital tokens to investors., but it is not regulated by any law or government.
Whereas, STO, which is Security Token Offering, bears the name Security, because it is regulated.
Therefore, investors feel more protected investing in STO, because it is regulated. Although, that does not imply there are no genuine ICO.
