501  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Avalon Technical Support Thread on: May 06, 2013, 01:26:23 AM
I have a batch 2 order.
And I need the watercooling for noise reasons myself.

Watercooling generally still requires a fan (on the radiator to cool the water), therefore still creates noise.

Bitcoin will soon block small transaction outputs (less than 54.3 uBTC): https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/2577#issuecomment-17138223 This will prevent friedcat from identifying shareholders by sending satoshis (0.01 uBTC). friedcat how do you plan to work around this?

505  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Im fairly confident the NSA (US Gov) Can 51% Any Coin At Any Time on: May 04, 2013, 06:13:14 AM
given that they have an unlimited budget

First news for you: their budget is limited. See also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_debt_of_the_United_States

Second news: the USA actually tacitly approves of Bitcoin: http://bitcoinmagazine.com/fincen-bitcoin-users-not-regulated-exchanges-are/ - They would rather make money from it (via taxes) rather than destroy it, makes sense, right?
506  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bets of Bitcoin - Bitcoin betting on real world events on: May 04, 2013, 06:03:39 AM
Probably made the assumption that the device shipped met the criteria, and thus the outcome known at this point.  I'm presuming what shipped doesn't meet the criteria thus the bet should remain open (as there could be et another product shipped before the deadline that does meet the criteria).

Exactly. The bet should have remained open. coinjedi, any answer on that?
507  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: May 04, 2013, 05:40:43 AM
If it helps, "pumpkin" is "Avalon".
508  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GPU Heatsink exploded/blew up on: May 04, 2013, 04:45:12 AM
Weird. Your vapor chamber seems to have expanded. Maybe it was a manufacturing defect? The wrong type (or too much) of fluid was put in the vapor chamber and pressure became higher than it was designed for?
509  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Muti-GPU -- Muti-series Mining Rig- Possible? on: May 04, 2013, 04:35:20 AM
Absolutely, it is possible to mix different series cards in the same computer. But you might encounter occasional issues like what you experienced (sub-part hashrate). Try different (older or newer) drivers. Try running your miner with only 1 card, or only the other card. Do they perform as expected when tested individually?

Watch your language!

That list respectfully states my disagreement. I am not insulting people.
511  Economy / Computer hardware / 200-250 BTC for borrowing your Avalon on: May 04, 2013, 02:13:08 AM
Have an Avalon (in your hands, not a preorder)? Are you in the USA? Want to lend it to me? I will pay 200-250 BTC to physically borrow your Avalon for 90 days. See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=192203.0
512  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Avalon Technical Support Thread on: May 04, 2013, 02:08:35 AM
Enermax has a really good reputation.
Can you name the exact type

ENM750EWT-S 80plus Gold

Open them up and post pictures of the internals, and I may be able to tell you why it died.
Or: I will give you 1 BTC to ship two dead PSUs to me (I am in California).  Email me m.bevand at gmail.com
513  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-04-29 Forbes: Collected Quotations Of The Dread Pirate Roberts on: May 03, 2013, 11:10:48 PM
Sometimes I can't help but think DPR is Satoshi. He would have created Bitcoin for the ultimate goal of creating The Silk Road.

Notice how Satoshi disappeared from the community in late 2010, and The Silk Road opened in February 2011, a surprisingly early Bitcoin adopter. DPR also obviously has a financial background and relates to Austrian economics. Both DPR and Satoshi have technical/cryptographic skillsets. One reason for Satoshi wanting to remain anonymous would be to hide his involvement with The Silk Road. Plus Satoshi always said that he is "moving to other projects" when leaving Bitcoin. Etc.

No way. S was way to mild to be DPR. Plus, why would he put the entire economy at risk were he to be found out, just to make a few extra dollars given how mind-bogglingly intelligent he was? Plus the skillset does not match up.

The skillsets do match: they are obviously both into cryptography, TOR users, coders, etc.
514  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 03, 2013, 06:04:56 PM
Damn, so many haters here. You, guys, have got to give credit for all the work friedcat has done so far (processing payments from the auctions, distributing dividends, deploying and shipping equipment) because it's due. He definatelly exceeded my expectations.

In case it is me you call a hater: I am not.

I am just correcting bad information spread by others who say that "everything is rosy and went perfectly as expected".
515  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 03, 2013, 02:43:36 AM
Friedcat has been 100% honest, and every thing he has said has worked so far

Hum, no. The 12 Th/s currently mining was supposed to be online 1-1.5 months ago. The deployment has definitely not worked as fast as fried said it would.
516  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-04-29 Forbes: Collected Quotations Of The Dread Pirate Roberts on: May 02, 2013, 08:37:14 AM
Interesting theory, but I wouldn't be that sure. Satoshi looked much more reserved than DPR. The latter expresses his political ideas much more eloquently than the former.

Per my theory, the character of Satoshi was all a facade: he would not have wanted to disclose too much of his ideologies precisely to avoid identifying him as The Silk Road founder Smiley

PS: also notice that Satoshi is known to prefer british spelling and expressions. And DPR uses british spelling too ("labour" on page 3 of this forbes.com article).
517  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-04-29 Forbes: Collected Quotations Of The Dread Pirate Roberts on: May 02, 2013, 08:26:27 AM
This theory actually makes a lot of sense!

I got a private bidder for 240 BTC. This private bidder is free to identify himself here if he desires so.
520  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 490,000 Avalon chips already ordered - 150T/hash spike coming in August on: May 01, 2013, 11:57:39 PM
I purchased order #10177. I don't think they started from 0. The earliest posted order I know of is Zefir's @ #9725.

Thats 452 orders of 10k sets of chips.  That's 4,520,000 Avalon chips ordered.
1274.64 Terahash/second.
Difficulty of god knows
That can't possibly be right.

That is not right. A lot of order numbers are just people clicking "buy" without paying.
https://blockchain.info/address/1FGAftzSTztFSB8LMwsrdCKTyqGY6zr3sU shows 66 batches bought so far. That's all.
