501  Other / Archival / Re: New strategy for casinos! on: December 15, 2023, 10:06:33 AM
That is expected now that there are plenty of forum users that soon will have an open space for their siggy. However, as to payment, as long as it's reasonable it will be okay. I'd say I am an active gambler but in terms of quality posters qualification, I'd give that judgement to the campaign manager.

Yeah, let's start the race, I'm expecting that sooner or later there will be new casino campaigns that will pop up and as there's lots of supply (campaigner's) here. Supply and demand are going to be witness again, with this huge forum, I believe there are only few campaigners compared to the number of potential casinos that would like their brand to be popular.
502  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you still use Banks ? on: December 14, 2023, 03:15:56 PM
In this era, banks are still useful, because if I think that the banking institution will suddenly disappear, I can see that the economy will collapse a lot, that's for sure.
Banking industry will stay, they are the biggest financial institution and won't be surpass by any institution.
Who are creating fiat? is it bank? so without bank there will be no more fiat, and it's impossible that bitcoin will take over or crypto since the government will not allow that to happen. They'll lose control, that's their biggest fear.

Though we like decentralization but we cannot deny the fact that we are living in a world where the government promotes centralization, hence will only make crypto as a alternative currency, won't replace the main.

Although I know that it is impossible to lose the bank, when it comes to the business industry, banks cannot be irrelevant. So, even though I don't have a bank account now because I'm in cryptocurrency or digital currency, I still can't say that the bank is no longer important. It also helps in other aspects of the business industry.

Personally I'm only using a digital bank, that's the trend now, at least it's easier to transact with digital bank with our crypto assets, and vice versa. But at the end of the day, they still belong to the banking industry as they are regulated by the central bank.

As the world is evolving, banking industry also follows the same path in the form of digital banking.
503  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did we forget about the lighning network? on: December 14, 2023, 12:06:51 PM
The Lightning Network was literally the technology needed to enable Bitcoin to be adopted as legal tender at nation-state level.
El Salvador made bitcoin a legal tender in 2021, but the country has just adopted lightning network some weeks back. Lightning network makes bitcoin transaction to be cheap and faster which is the reason it was created. If there are more people making use of lightning network, also the mempool will be less congested if compared to if lightning network is not existing.

If this has existed a long time ago and it would solve the problem of network congestion, what do you think is the reason why people are not adopting with it? If there's a way to increase its adoption, how do you think it has to be done?

Honestly, this network congestion will not gonna go away, it will happen from time to time especially if the market is quite bullish as it's expected that more transactions will be created, so we need some long term solution, unless we don't see it as a major problem yet.
504  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you wrap up your gambling session? on: December 14, 2023, 06:52:20 AM

I don't want this to happen to me, especially if I dare to borrow money just to gamble, because that's not the solution. with the limits imposed on gambling, it can reduce the risk of losses that will occur, so you should limit gambling activities properly, one of which is like what you did, not forcing yourself to continue gambling, which is good.

And don't even think of doing that as that will certainly give you more problem in the future.

Money borrowed because of gambling will just go to the bank of the gambling site. Why? because when you borrowed money, that could easily mean you are going out of control already. Being responsible means you'll risk what you can afford only, so why borrow? You borrow because you run dry of funds, and you cannot take that L and you wanted to recover it to end up in W. Things like that normally ends up worse than expected.
505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 14, 2023, 06:13:27 AM
Called all my games right today. Always a nice thing. Funniest moment of the night definitely went to the Indiana Pacers who stole the game ball after their loss to the Bucks. Giannis wanted to ball to commemorate his 64 point career high scoring performance. Amazing night for him no doubt and he was not happy about the Pacers taking his ball.

Good job and congrats. Me, I lose my bet on the Pacers. I thought they'll have the same performance the last time they met but turns out it was a different outcome this time. Luckily, I was still up as I won most of my bets since most of the high favorites covers, so it's a good day for me, looking forward for another action tomorrow with a profitable ending.
506  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one is fun, watching with bet or without a bet? on: December 13, 2023, 01:05:56 PM
Good topic for discussion. When i place a bet, for example, on a sports bet, we are more concentrated on the game and more involved in the process because we assume that we can get a profit from the game, which brings much more pleasure from watching. If there is no bet, then this is the most ordinary viewing of the game when you don’t have to pay close attention. In the event of a loss, everyone treats it differently; in fact, I don’t feel angry if my bet didn’t work it’s just entertainment for me.

As a gambler you would really see the difference when watching sports with or without bet. Honestly, I do feel the pressure too because when watching the game, it's not all the time that your team is leading, most of the games especially basketball is a game of run therefore there will be change of leads on scores which could bring some kind of pressuring feeling, so I think we just have to get use to it, and be always smart in not getting out of control when gambling.

If we can't enjoy watching with bets, there's no point of watching, just turn off the TV and come back later after the game.
507  Other / Meta / Re: Forum unusable with Tor on: December 13, 2023, 06:40:35 AM
I'm not actually using TOR to access this forum, so I was wondering why someone need to use TOR access bitcointalk.

Obviously for the reason why it was developed in the first place which is “privacy”. They are users here who have never logged into this forum using a normal browser, all they have been using since the creation of their account has been TOR and that’s understandable since they value their privacy.
Well, I understand what TOR is for, I just didn't expect that there are users out there who uses TOR to access the forum. For me, I just find the forum like a social media websites platform like facebook and youtube, so I'm using a normal browser (brave or google).

Anyway, to answer your question, I had access the website and there seems to be no issue in my end using TOR, although I haven't log in my account.

Since yours worked fine the Op should consider checking his internet service provider to see if that where the issue is coming from. I am not currently with my device that has tor browser installed so I won’t be able to try it out myself to see if it’s a general issue or not.

There's one that says he also has the problem, it  probably occurs when a user tries to log in to his account as there's this captcha thing that has to be solve first.

509  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you Spending more or less money on Casino this Holiday season on: December 13, 2023, 04:05:02 AM
I'm surprise that only few have voted on the poll on, "spending less" this holiday.

Come on guys! This is a holiday season, we are suppose to have more fun, and as a gambler, we cannot forget betting more so we will entertain more. I mean, more bets, more fun, that should be our motto.

BTW, we can replace the word "spending"  to "gambling", as using spending doesn't imply we have a chance of doubling our money.

Because you may planned to hold for the next year expenses or may hold for the new year expenses itself. This is year end and the Christmas holiday,So the gamblers should ready to spend the time in the gambling site to have fun and enjoyment. The gamblers who ready to spend more will get more fun using the same gambling site.

Next year's income will take care of next year's expenses. Come one, Christmas comes once in a month only, that means you have 11 months to save for the season. It's not a good excuse about saving as Christmas is all about spending, and we spend to have fun, to enjoy with out love ones. But this gambling alone, is just for my sole satisfaction, but I also have something for everything.
510  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Unstable prices of cryptocurrency on: December 13, 2023, 02:45:17 AM

So my question is that can't it be possible for someone to buy bitcoins and hodl it at a specific price such that even if the price dips it won't affect the Bitcoins you have hodl in your wallet?

It can't... Bitcoin by nature is volatile, with its limited supply, the supply and demand will play a big factor in the game, so you have to be aware of that as an investor. Haven't you research? I mean, if you do, you'll know that bitcoin is a highly volatile asset, hence it's considered as a high risk asset.

What you bought was already in your wallet, I suggest that you hold that and just wait for the right time to sell it, of course, sell it with a profit.

Don't invest yet, or pause it for a while, just continue educating yourself so you'll be so confident with what you are doing.

512  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 12, 2023, 12:37:31 PM
I guess Coach Pop already said to Wemby that he must forget that ROTY title because winning a title for the team is way better than that title. TBH, I have trust in Coach Pop. I mean who doesn't? The coach has been in the league for decades, is the most winningest coach in NBA history, and trying to develop a generational player in Wembanyama.

On the other hand, Chet will get that ROTY no doubt. The question right now for the whole Thunder team is can they play the same when they clinch the playoffs? Might be too early though.

You can't say thay to your player if Coach Pop really said that since it can lower down the motivation of his hype player to do more better job. But if this is true then maybe he just said that its because he already know that Wemby is already behind with Chet which is doing so good this season. Just to bad he cannot get enough help that's why provably he will just miss that ROTY award.

Chet is now the favorite player pointed out to win the ROTY due to his performance and contribution to his team and if he consistently doing some nice thing and OKC always win then no doubt that he successfully acquired that thropy.

Winning the title isn't on the discussion yet if it's the Spurs. They are a rebuilding team so they should focus first on improving, maybe the main goal for now is getting into the playoffs, and with their record now, it's safe to say that this season they'll fail.

On the discussion whether Wemby will win a ROY, it's unlikely now but since it's still early ,there's still time to recover for him to improve his individual performance. Afterall, ROY criteria does not significantly involve the team's performance, so he still has a shot.

You are at the right section, might as well explore some advertising strategy that some businesses are doing.

What you are looking is a review campaign, you can always hire someone to run it, or just create your own and get some active gamblers here to make a review on your website, of course it comes with a fee just like other review campaign here.

Anyway, good luck, I hope you can find more inputs with what we suggests here.

What do you people mean by bank roll,

Here you go.

Quote
What is a bankroll in sports betting?

A bankroll is the amount of money you have set aside for sports betting.

This is important because if you start with an initial bankroll of $1,000 and you lose it all, you should probably take a break. It's a method to abide by so you don't go overboard and dip into your life's savings.

The best way to manage your bankroll is betting a certain amount of money per bet. For example, it's wise to bet one to five units (or one to five percent of your bankroll) on every wager. That's a helpful rule because if you start with $1,000 and bet 10 units or $100 on a team you really like and they lose, your money could go down the drain fast.

Of course, this differs if you plan on gambling on a daily basis or just for the weekend. If you go to the sportsbook with your friends and are okay with throwing away a set amount of money, bankrolls and units don't often matter. However, if your plan is to slowly grow your bankroll, it's best to limit the amount you bet, no matter how confident you are.

515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has anyone here started with a decent bankroll in sports? on: December 11, 2023, 12:58:20 PM
I actually don't know how much the profit or loss is calculated.
You can't be into business if you don't know how to calculate that, let me teach you how.

In usual business it's income less expenses = profit.
In sports gambling, it's amount wins less amount loss = profit, if you have bigger losses than your profit, that's net loss

I only bet very small amounts, and if I see a profit, I will cash out without waiting for the match to finish. But if I don't see how the bet is going, I will leave it until it is finished, and it can give two possibilities, win or lose, and I am okay with that because I bet to have fun in gambling.

I think the right term for that is winning, because the term profit is usually use if the business is serious.
516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one you are good at? on: December 11, 2023, 06:36:35 AM
I'm better on selecting the right bet than managing the bankroll. Everyone of us here probably are challenge with the bankroll management since most of us does not considering sports betting seriously, I mean we don't do it on a regular basis, we just gamble to have fun, that's it.

As a gambler who like to try to be investing in sports, I watched a lot of youtube videos to help me understand everything, including the how to analyze, manage the bankroll and stay discipline,... but... there's always this big "but" beacuse the execution is the most challenging part and I usually fail.
517  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: December 08, 2023, 11:19:23 PM
So it is Lakers vs Pacers that we are going to see with this, I feel like the result is not that good, I was expecting some serious teams at the finals, like some Bucks vs Denver type of situation which would have bene fine and entertaining, with Dame on the roster Bucks are great, and DFenver are the last champions and I feel like they are doing fine right now, they are still the best team in the league if you ask me. When you think of that, the finals between them would have been quite fun to watch.

Bucks lost at the last minute by not winning against Pacers, which is really weird considering how good they were, and Lakers had an easy opponent, it wasn't even a close game, the whole fourth quarter was garbage time to be fair and it really sucked for Pelicans without a doubt. I believe that we are going to see the changes one way or another, and for that to mean something we need to end up having some sort of situation that will benefit everyone, because this tournament is boring.

Yes, I was totally disappointed with the Bucks performance, they have a good lead in the first quarter. But not sure what happen in the 2nd, it seems that the Pacers took everything from them at that quarter specially Haliburton's passed and that was enough for them to take the lead and win. Lost my bet on the Bucks handicap.
Bucks seemed to have a lot of issue this season, the chemistry is not fully polish yet. Although they won on some games but they weren't controlling the game like they usually do in the past season. The Lillard and Giannis tandem seem not 100% working yet, so betting against them when they're playing a good team could sometimes be a good idea and it was right against the Pacers.

For the Lakers games, it is to be expected, however, it's vintage Lebron's performance once again.
I was thinking Pelicans has a shot of winning, or least the game is close if they loss, but man, the Lakers were on fire and just dominated them easily, it was like their impressive win on Kings did not count due to their non-competitive peformance.

@danherbias07 - I will tail you with the Celtics over New York knicks but I will take the risk to get to -6.5 @1.80.

I like the pick though, especially now that they are -8... But... I'd choose the Sixers -9 against the Hawks. Eithe way, good luck!

I get that things are tough right now, but hang in there and trust in God. If you work hard to improve your situation, I'm sure you'll succeed. While I wouldn't recommend diving into crypto given your current financial situation, consider using your mobile to explore online job opportunities. Being resourceful might land you a job that pays in bitcoinm, view it as an investment or cash it out to boost your income.

This forum has some great info on finding opportunities, so keep digging and be patient as eventually you'll get your first job.
There are many ways we can stay safe in the market and prevent ourselves from becoming a victim of investing in the wrong coin and stay safe in the market. Things maybe tough now but there are always ways we can keep saving for us to make better profits from the market. In this tough time, one can choose to learn how to trade whether copy trading or trading in general. Trading is a good way for us to make extra profits for ourselves to use to solve our problems.
Investing in general is risky, it's like gambling actually which we follow the principle of investing/gambling what we can afford, and since OP is struggling financially, it's safe to say that he cannot afford to take a risk now. Therefore, my suggestion stands that he'll just have to find an online job, earn from it and maybe time will come he could keep some extra for investing purposes.
