5001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Grin | PoW Mining | Electronic transactions for all. Community driven. on: March 10, 2019, 11:06:44 PM
I just dusted off my GPU miner, installed a fresh Windows 10 OS, installed GrinPro miner, and pointed it to GrinMint.  My GPUs are set to stock clocking, no modifications.  How am I doing?  Any config settings you guys can recommend will be much appreciated.

TIA

5002  Other / Meta / Re: DT members - ethical to sell DT services? on: March 10, 2019, 08:40:42 PM
How different would it be if he was only asking for a different subset of people, e.g. people with > 500 merits?
Meh. Albeit with less stink of implied corruption. I don't really get the whole paid review business, maybe that's my problem.
That could be it. I could see it as a legitimate attempt at getting reviews from a user group where alts are least likely to be present.

I can see that explanation.  It would be one thing if the request was for members with green trust, but specifically asking for member who are part of the DT network seems like an obvious attempt to gain some green trust himself.

I wouldn't suggest making a big deal out of this situation, but if this type of thing gets out hand it could easily be abused.  However, if it's allowed and remains out in the open it may expose some DT members with ulterior motives.
5003  Other / Meta / Re: Recovering hacked accounts on: March 10, 2019, 05:29:31 PM
@OP
Iasenko suspected something wrong with the account shortly after it woke up.  It's been tagged with a bunch of red, but I added my own review with your proof of ownership as the reference link.  I'll remove my review once you've recovered the account.

You are a premium user of a forum, not of life! remember that!

Lol, I'm sure you are such a winner at the game of life.  That's why you are here trying to promote your ponzi scam to people on this forum.  Sorry buddy you are neither a premium member of the forum nor at life.  But don't despair, you're not the first 14 year old would-be-scammer that's attempted and failed.

Sheetepoewst

I'll need to find a way to use this in casual conversations.

You know what they say;  One should never discuss sex, religion, or politics in polite company.  I believe that word casts images of all three subjects.

All that inbreeding would explain CH's affliction.

How many generations of "first cousins" can one expect to get away with before CH is the result?

Plus she turned me into a vixen.

Don't sell yourself short, she turned you into a time-traveling vixen.  Badass!

5007  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's wrong with Secondary Education in the US, and some solutions on: March 10, 2019, 06:50:33 AM
The education system in the US has made several mistakes, but one of the most significant is a abandoning the trades.  Trade schools don't get the recognition or the assistance that other "higher education"  institutions receive.  As a nation we've been lead to believe that the only way to succeed is to get a college degree, but if you're only getting a degree in one the humanities fields, you're just another over-educated, under-experienced risk from any potential employers' perspective.
5008  Other / Politics & Society / Re: De-monetization of basic life requirements and beyond. on: March 10, 2019, 06:32:46 AM
In my experience, most (not all) university classes are basically taught from the textbook. If you have the discipline to self-study a textbook, then it has roughly the same effectiveness in many cases. For courses which fall into this category, university is mostly a motivational tool to get you to really study the book so that you get decent grades and don't waste your tuition. Considering the high university drop-out rate and student loan debt in the US, better and less expensive motivational tools may exist...

Furthermore, I think that both high schools and universities aren't worthwhile for the vast majority of people who go to them. The exact path which each person would be best-off taking varies, but IMO the average person would be better-off dropping out of high school ASAP and then combining a part-time job with self-study, online courses, community college courses, etc. in their areas of interest. Education is important, but high school especially is 90% babysitting and only 10% education - a big waste of time.

Demonetizing education would be a disaster, in my opinion.  It's already been hijacked by leftest who use it as an opportunity to indoctrinate our youth.  There's little incentive for a success driven individual to pursue a career in education.  As it is it attracts the those we gen-Xers termed as "slackers."  Providing the best service, or good value is rarely within the capabilities of government agencies.  It's almost exclusively limited to private enterprise steeped in healthy competition.

If it is free, you are the product.

Or they expect you to be the sucker.  Remember when they used to give away pneumatic nail guns?  They charged so much for the nail strips that the nails cost almost $0.25 each.

5010  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: paulownia very likely ponzi scheme on: March 10, 2019, 05:41:50 AM
if you want something else to attack me, I'll tell you that the same script that I use in php has been used by many to make scams.

I agree.  In fact a few months ago someone was offering a website just like yours as collateral for a loan, while also trying to sell the site.  His reward was a lot of red paint, too.

Maybe you should start using your skills to find legitimate work, because you suck as a scammer.
5011  Other / Meta / Re: The merit queen Suchmoon, lucky number is “4” on: March 10, 2019, 05:31:49 AM
Actually I almost miss the merit begging days. We were so innocent and naive back then before the whole DT campaigning began.

Lol, those were the days, huh?  Hell, even the "why account banned" threads seem to have taken a backseat to the DT drama.  Someday a bigger drama will come along and we'll reminisce about these days, and laugh heartily at marlboroza's attempt to escape the drama.
5012  Economy / Reputation / Re: An obvious case of trust abuse (DT members welcome) on: March 08, 2019, 11:50:23 PM
You wrote a lengthy post (and even received some merits for it from the abuser), but now you basically admit that it was nothing more than an effort at slandering as your post is stocked with foul insinuations but it has never been your intention to prove them. And even in this post you are still continuing to insinuate ("you're not the typical shitposter"). Why am I not surprised at all?

No, you're not a typical shitposter, but now you're starting to resemble a typical troll.  Actually my first post in this thread was more critical of Lucius than you.  I called his review frivolous, so no there was no intention to slander you.  It wasn't until you got belligerent with other contributors that I started calling you out for being overly butthurt.  I did just enough research to try show you why someone might have come to Lucius' conclusion.  It was an attempt at mitigation, but seeing the other side of the story wasn't in your interest.

Like actmyname, I don't know what you expect to achieve by continuing to beat this dead horse.
5013  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Cold Doctrine? on: March 08, 2019, 08:54:45 PM
If it's the same thing I've been hearing about it's India's plan on how to deal with a Pakistani invasion with counter attacks, while simultaneously avoiding nuclear war.

5014  Economy / Reputation / Re: ["Risky" Loan] borrower [marcotheminer] on: March 08, 2019, 05:26:20 PM
Perhaps you should read this thread before posting.

I did read the thread, and your explanation.  To be honest I don't find your argument as compelling as the evidence Gunthar provided.  Again, note the use of the compelling.  I'm not necessarily convinced all these accounts are connected, but there's enough to make me suspicious.
5015  Economy / Reputation / Re: ["Risky" Loan] borrower [marcotheminer] on: March 08, 2019, 04:41:14 PM
This is all very convoluted and confusing.  Quickseller, marcotheminer, 2double0, and hacker1001101001 all seem to be entangled with each other in one way or another.  I'm not suggesting they are all linked accounts, I don't have any hard proof of that, but there several odd things that seem to suggest they may be under the control of the same person.

In this thread marcotheminer all but admits he has a claim on the account 2double0.  Hacker1001101001 funded the loan, but there were some strange transactions between the two addresses prior to funding the loan.  In this thread Quickseller makes the claim that 2double0 and hacker1001101001 are connected based on the funny business with the addresses.

Gunthar provides compelling evidence that Quickseller posted a PGP signed message, but the message was signed by marcotheminer.

Again, I don't know what's going on, but there does seem to be some strange happenings with these accounts.

Yeah, he strikes me as kind of shady, I wouldn't lend to him.  Ever since 2double0 made this loan request I've had my suspicions about marcotheminer.
5017  Economy / Reputation / Re: DT everyone? on: March 08, 2019, 01:23:40 AM
edit - errr wolf boy?? are you still here wolf boy?? this debate is very one sided so far.

Some of us have jobs.  With real work that needs to get done.  Then there's that time spent driving between work and home.  Be patient, I'll give you a little attention before I shut you down.

How about the FACT  the pharmacist is a greedy sneaky racist sig spamming sock puppet trying to milk the board for every drop of btc dust he can get ?  do you dispute this is a fact?

See?  There it is.  You've proven my point.  That's an opinion, not a fact.  It may be factual, but without any proof it's nothing but an opinion.  Furthermore it's an opinion that is shared by many.  Certainly not those who can think rationally.

Now, despite you attempting to insult me by referring to be as wolf boy, and referring to everyone with whom you disagree as a "sig spammer" I've tried to engage you in a debate.

Do you dispute the fact that you've only presented opinions without supporting evidence?  Or are you still convinced that every thought that pops into your head is a fact?  Maybe you don't know the difference.  I'm here to help.

5018  Economy / Reputation / Re: DT everyone? on: March 07, 2019, 11:45:06 PM
I can assure you the last thing I am looking for is conflict. Thank you for addressing the situation.

No the last thing you are looking for is a truthful debate. You are terrified of entering one with me. If not come and have one here now with me?

Yes or No?

See above for the details of what I want to discuss with you so that you can address my valid concerns regarding your DT selections.

First; Nobody is even talking to you.
Second; Your idea of "truth" and "facts" is exactly the opposite of what the rest of the world accepts as the meanings of those words.
Third; if you knew how to debate you wouldn't be constantly resorting to insults.

Come to grips with the FACT that it's not all about you.
5019  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Phishing on: March 07, 2019, 09:49:27 PM
I have a hard time trusting third party virus and malware removers when it comes to crypto wallets.  A scammer can take measures to mitigate the chances of their malware being found, or you could get false positives.

To be on the safe side, I would reinstall the OS.  That's likely overkill, but my financial security deserves overkill.

@OP and bathrobehero, learn to use PGP and verify the signature when you download Electrum.  It's a great desktop wallet, and is worth the extra security steps to make sure you're using it safely.  Otherwise, hardware wallets are a great alternative.
5020  Economy / Reputation / Re: "Last of the V8s" is filing fake scam reports on: March 07, 2019, 09:29:53 PM
I was contemplating whether to act on this or not for a long time just like I did with bcash scammers. There you go.

As despicable as I find r0ach's comments and blatant bigotry, I am torn about the use of the trust system in this way.  However, bones261 makes a really good point.  I'm a fairly trusting person, but I would have a hard time trusting people who spew hate such as r0ach does.

But that's not the whole deal, is it?  r0ach is accusing another member of attempting to scam the whole community, which is an allegation for which he can only provide circumstantial evidence.  That makes this a different type of situation.  Spreading misinformation about another member should never be tolerated.

@r0ach, if you have a suspicion about another member, feel free to share it, but don't make it sound like it's a proven fact when the only "evidence" that exists is "he said/she said."
