5041  Other / Politics & Society / Re: De-monetization of basic life requirements and beyond. on: March 03, 2019, 03:34:48 PM
You don't understand the concept of de-monetization.  This isn't about someone choosing what is or isn't a basic life requirement.  This is about a market that will change due to supply and demand redistribution.

To me it sounds like you don't understand human nature.  Government cheese, is unsatisfactory.  People want more.  They are willing to work for more.  We all benefit, as a society, as a species when one of us achieves.  Without the motivation, (and freedom from over-taxation,) we wouldn't know who Karl Benz, Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs are.

Go ahead and buy whatever car or phone you want, but 1 example is that as cars become more autonomous it will allow people to live further from their place of employment, if that person chooses to buy a Lambo or a Lada to make their commute is entirely up to them but because they can work for the entire commute they can live an extra half hour away from work and can afford a larger home because it is outside the more expensive city centre.  If that person can also work remote 2 or 3 days a week they can live even further from work.

I will buy whatever car I want, and I can afford to as long as politicians stop thinking they know more than I how my money should be spent.

As far as phones go if you want a 2k smart phone go ahead and get one but at some point a company like amazon is going to start giving out smart phones free if you just use their platform enough,  that doesn't mean awesome expensive cell phones are all of a sudden illegal it just means that most people wont want are give a fuck about a $2k smart phone and will take the free good phone all day long.

Yes, the proletariat can just have the Amazon phone, the google phone, or what ever corporate shaft they want to accept.  This is socialism, you are only substituting a corporation for a government.  Not very progressive of you to support a capitalist corporation.

De-monetizing isn't some socialist or communist boogey man coming to take away your choices, it is in fact possible because of free market systems.  The market wants youtube which is the ultimate de-monetization model.  Youtube has accelerated the de-monetization of entertainment.  In the olden days you need thousands of dollars of equipment and millions of dollars to broadcast on the TV.  Now days anyone with a cell phone and internet connection can get millions of viewers.

How can demonetizing anything not be socialist or communist?  Who's paying the wages of those providing health care, education, and happy endings?  They still need to earn enough for their basic life needs.  And if they are earning nothing but their basic life needs what motivates anybody to pursue careers in those services?

Entertainment is a basic human need, and it is quickly becoming de-monetized for the viewers, as this trend continues and happens in other markets I am curious what affects it will have.  What the market chooses as "entertainment" well the people will ultimately decide by participation...

That's a ridiculous example, and I'm sorry but you're wrong.  Advertisement is not demonetized, and without it you would have nothing "free" to watch.

Look, there's no such thing as free.  We all need to work for what we need and want.  The entire human species benefits from our individual achievements, even when those achievements are motivated by greed.

Yes, lets.  Quit whining, lock this thread, and talk to Lucius like an adult.
5043  Other / Politics & Society / Re: De-monetization of basic life requirements and beyond. on: March 03, 2019, 05:38:33 AM
What constitutes basic life needs, and who get to decide?  Does a cell phone count as a basic life need?  Does a car count?  I live out in the boonies and have to commute 15 miles to work.  I need a phone and a car.  I don't want just any phone, or just any car.  I want an android smart phone with lots of memory, and a Mercedes.  Do those qualify as basic life needs?  I don't eat just any chicken, I want free range chicken, and grass-fed beef.  Does that count?

5044  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I increase my merits? on: March 03, 2019, 05:27:33 AM
I have done 30 activities, but my rank is still a newbie. I thought after doing 30+ activities rank would be increased. How does the new ranking system work? How can I increase my merits?

Wow, it's been a long time since we've had a merit question.  Here's a link to the merit system and how it works.  There was an update on 16 SEP 2018, you now need at least one merit to rank up to Jr. Member.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.msg28856522#msg28856522

ETA: After looking through your posts to see if you have made any deserving of merit I found nothing.  The only non-bounty posts you've made are this one, and one suggesting to someone who's banned to just make a new account.  You're not likely to get any merit if you continue in that way.

I am totally fine with using my old legacy addy as a staked address, have been doing that for years.

What I cannot believe is we don't have some form of 2FA, even if opt-in.

I'm sure if there was an open source, secure format that theymos believed in we would have it.  I don't see theymos using google authenticator, which seems to be the most popular 2FA service.  I have no issues with google authenticator, it's pretty easy to use and relatively secure.

PGP would be my choice.  Again, it may not be very secure, but something is better than nothing.
5048  Other / Meta / Re: Why do we have so many spam threads in P&S? on: March 02, 2019, 07:56:37 PM
He's a guy that doesn't interact with any other member in P&S and is given the ability to just chat random amounts of shit without recourse.

I don't think that 'ignore' is the right answer to this, because we take the conspiracy theories to a new high when we allow such horrible posts.

The trouble with freedom of speech is that someone will inevitably say something you don't like, and in this case something batshit crazy.  But, in this case none of the threads are self moderated or locked, you are welcome to counter his rhetoric.  That's the thing about trolls though, countering their banter only feeds them the attention they seek.  Ignoring them is the best course of action.

You've pointed out the most telling fact about his threads; him rattling on to himself, with very few interactions from the community.  That's a testament to how little influence his rhetoric has.  Nobody cares.  Most people are already ignoring him.
5049  Other / Meta / Re: HELP ME DOWN MY ACCOUNT on: March 02, 2019, 06:20:48 PM
I don't know the exact reason you've been banned.  Most likely it's plagiarism, even though you deny it, and I have not yet found any.  It could be because you're posts are obviously spam, apparently auto-translated gibberish.

Nah, the ban for being an utter moron:

Lol, no that was me, accidentally hitting the delete button instead of the edit button.  Roll Eyes

But yeah, I found that plagiarized post but you beat me to it.

And, there's more:

Looking at your MB manual I would recommend slotting the GPUs into PCIX16, PCIEX4_1, PCIEX4_2 (from top to bottom slots 2, 4, 6) Also make sure the monitor is plugged into slot 2 or PCIEX16

If it still isn't working may need to change some settings such as changing it all to Gen 2 or Gen 1 in the BIOS.
5050  Other / Meta / Re: Last hope on: March 02, 2019, 06:01:51 PM
started an account as it should be and started bombing drops, performing bounty, helping everyone and everything, in general,

That's not the purpose of this forum, and by your own admission you've proven that you're only here to be part of the problem.

And in December 2018, my account was simply stolen,

Cool story, bro.

The first thing I did when I discovered this was that Xalolex wrote about this, by the way, when I looked at my profile, it turned out that by that time they had already painted it because of the multi accounts and copy-paste ... ((I’m not arguing about copy-paste there was one or two posts at the very beginning that I brazenly stealed on one of the news sites about the blockchain, but there were no more of them and all the posts and content in general was copyright.

As Tryninja already mentioned, even one post that includes plagiarized content is enough for a permanent ban.  If there was a way that you could prove that the plagiarized content was not posted by you then you would have an opportunity to reverse the ban, but in this case you've admitted you have broken the rules.  And, it seems that following the rules isn't something you concern yourself with.  You are allowed to post in Meta to appeal you ban, but posting in any other board is ban evasion.
5051  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will it be new start between two nation? on: March 02, 2019, 05:43:23 PM
I am not sure but it is not about the talk between the two Prime Ministers no matter how much they are willing to take step further. Pakistan, though democratic nation has history of many coups and dictatorship from Ayub khan,Yahya khan to Prevez Musharraf. Actually Pakistan army look like a biggest road blocker in peace agreement or resolving the conflict. So releasing of an Indian soldier  does really mean that Pakistan army this time will move forward towards peace and support their Prime Minister attempt?

Lets hope this is the first step towards a lasting peace.  The trouble is there is still so much hatred and resentment on both sides of the border as is demonstrated by JSRAW's post.  It'll be hard to overcome the resentment which has been fueled by both sides for decades.

The entire planes has a stake in this game.  Both sides are allied with western nations, and both sides have nuclear weapons.  Resolving their disputes is beneficial to all of us.
5052  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Keepkey Not Detected by Electrum Anymore on: March 02, 2019, 05:07:51 PM
Windows 10
Electrum 3.3.4
Updated to latest KeepKey firmware 2 days ago
The cable works fine as the Keepkey will work with the Chrome Keepkey plug in.
So, it seems like an Electrum issue.

I haven't used my KeepKey in a while, so I wasn't aware of this issue.  I just tried mine with the newest version of Electrum, and experienced the same thing.

The dialog box gives instructions to remove the device from the device list in Windows, and then reattach it to reinstall the drivers.  I tried and it's still doing the same thing.  I have not had a chance to install an older version of Electrum on a windows 10 machine to see if the new version is the issue.  I might have a chance later this weekend if no body beats me to it.

5053  Economy / Reputation / Re: An obvious case of trust abuse (DT members welcome) on: March 02, 2019, 04:21:54 PM
But you both don't seem to have good judgement.

@deisik
Suchmoon just illustrated the crux of the matter.  It's not beyond the realm of possibilities that Lucius will end up on DT2, but if he continues to leave frivolous reviews such as this the odds are getting smaller and smaller.

Anyway, this campaign lasted for 8 weeks. For me, it started with this post and ended with this one. That makes a total of 1100 posts which produces less than 140 posts per week. So much for "making over 200+ posts", huh. Apart from that, you may actually want to visit my profile to see how many merits I earned during the last couple of months (read, a lot more than you). It seems like you desperately need a good reality check right now

I didn't go looking into your post history too deep, but for fuck's sake!  1100 posts in two months to promote a casino which has already been accused of promoting spam?  That seems like a lot to me, and it's actually twice your average posting habits.  The table below includes your posts made during the campaign.

Date Registered: November 02, 2013
Total posts: 20857
Average Daily Posts: 10.15
Average Weekly Posts: 76.04
Average Monthly Posts: 324.15

Indeed the number seem to show that Lucius' claim was accurate for the time period in question.  You posted nearly twice your average during the campaign.  Again, I didn't dig deep enough to try and ascertain your posting habits, and see what are what aren't shit-posts, but certainly the numbers do tell a story of their own.

It seems to me that you are taking this situation as seriously as you are because maybe you're insulted by the allegation.  Perhaps you are as offended as you are because you know there's some truth to it.  You have other negative feedback, which on it's face would seem more concerning, but yet you are not bothered by it.

Take a closer look at yourself and assess why this is so important to you.  Lucius is not DT2 so his review is as meaningless as the other reviews you've been ignoring for years.  Lucius has already indicated that he would have discussed the issue with you in private.  The longer you keep bickering in public the more likely both of you will be insulted enough to develop a grudge that cannot be repaired.

Maybe it is time for Venezuela to invade America to force regime change.

I used to love visiting San Francisco.  One of my best friends still lives there, in a nice neighborhood close to Golden Gate Park.  The last few times I've visited I couldn't believe the smell.  Garbage all over the streets, filth in the park.  I have been a Bay Area resident since 1978, and I can tell you the reason San Francisco is such a cesspool of filth is because of the socialist tendencies of their politicians.  Since 1964 the city has been run by Democrats, so yes, it's time for a regime change.

I didn't do anything which could even remotely justify the negative feedback.

You are entitled to that opinion, ans Lucius is entitled to his.  I agree it seems frivolous, and maybe malicious, but that's a risk inherent in any public trust system.

The burden of proof lies with the person who is making the accusation, and I'm the one who is being accused here in case you didn't notice. And if this is left as it is, i.e. without being taken care of (whatever that "care" might come down to), it will be a source of future harm

Again, I agree.  The burden of proof is the accuser's, and in this case Lucius has left no proof.  Furthermore he claims to have risked 1000BTC which is unsupported by his allegation, and once again lacking credible evidence.  The whole community can see this as plain as day.  In my opinion the review reflects poorly on Lucius far more than you.

The only thing you can do is discuss this rationally with Lucius in an attempt to convince him to remove the review.  If he refuses he'll have to live with the ramifications as well.

deisik, you should send me PM, and ask what is the reason for that negative trust, and I'm pretty sure it would be resolved in mutual benefit. Instead, you're looking for DT members to red tag me because of my opinion that you abuse stake.com signature campaign in a way how you are posting, just for simple reason to increase number of posts.

Starting a rational discussion could easily have resolved this situation satisfactorily for both parties.

@deisik, If I were in your situation I would lock this thread and stat a civil discussion with Lucius about the issue you have with his feedback.  YMMV.

I don't know if I get a vote or not, and I'm not partial to allowing plagiarists any slack.  However, I've posted I don't know how many gifs and memes here without citing the source.  Hell, most of the time the source is as elusive as the memes are plentiful.  I guess if one is going to assume the moral high horse when it comes to plagiarism then he's got to go all the way.

I don't see much risk in repealing the ban for ChiBitCTy.  By accepting his ban it appears he's acknowledged the seriousness of his crime.  The bee charity thing is also a huge factor in my favoring clemency.

If the ban is repealed I'd like to suggest his signature is fixed with this link for a minimum of 3 years.

Then I won't do that anymore and I'll accept the ban, just never knew it is all.

I can see why someone may have reported that type of PM, if I wasn't in the market for services I would find it irritating.  I see you as an upstanding person and I don't think this mistake is in any way a blemish on your character.  In fact, the way you've acknowledged your error and assumed accountability is a testament to your character.  Sorry for trouble, and we'll see you in a week.

No worries on any of my campaigns. Post counts/Payments will be sent out as per usual and I'll just have someone post the txID in the threads for me over the next 7 days.

Feel free to add me to the list of contacts who'll post on your behalf; <myusername>@gmail.com.  Please add a signed message to confirm you're you.

There's been no policy change. redsn0w wasn't permanently banned due to several factors which made me think that permabanning him would be a net negative for the forum. Nobody is banned strictly because of "the rules"; it's always handled case-by-case, but almost always, plagiarists deserve to be permabanned.

If you think that a ban should be ended, make your case in a new topic from a "good for the forum as a whole" perspective.

I recall a couple of recent discussions and one poll where most folks voted for a bit more leniency in the policy.  It's understandable why some would think this is a new policy.

I believe this is the first case I've witnessed where a plagiarist has not been permanently banned.

Simply state your discord name in this format. You'll soon be verified on there manually by myself, hopefully we can have this automated in the future.

"Discord Name = InsertName"

We chatted briefly the other day after you made me drop my guns at the door.
Discord Name = DireWolf

You can use VPN or Tor, click on 200 fire hydrants and you'll be good.
Those captcha firetrucks are amazing!

Are you still friends, or has the relationship become awkward?
