Quite frankly, I'm getting tired of correcting your errors.  Grin

Thanks for the post, Erik.

Your link doesn't mention the 500 btc donation, and that post of his was before his donation. So this is new news, Mr. Bruno Smiley

526  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SatoshiDice double spending problem... on: November 24, 2012, 03:55:49 PM
This has happened before, we're looking into it. It's more likely to happen when the available pool of funds gets toward zero, which can happen when lots of activity is occuring, or if blocks are being more slow than usual (which happens just due to natural variance).

I'm not aware of any bets that aren't getting paid, though they may get stuck and then release some time later. My apologies for the inconvenience - we'll see if we can figure out a fix the prevent the issue.
527  Economy / Gambling / Re: SatoshiDICE.com - The World's Most Popular Bitcoin Game on: November 24, 2012, 03:52:23 PM
does satoshidice have a good connection to the bitcoin network at the moment - over the past few days I've had a few bets where the payment TX never hits my bitcoin client and also blockchain.info (and blockchain.info is very well connected)

Will

There have been some glitches the past day or two, with transactions getting stuck. They all clear though, don't worry.

#5 is the only good one. #4 is okay but inferior to #5 because that top-right star shape is A) nearly identical to Walmart's logo and B) arbitrary and superfluous

He should make his own internet protocol too, and write the text on his site in Esperanto, er that might be too mainstream, Esperanzo?

Wikipedia needs to answer for this...

Quote
"Wikipedia, in how many ways must we reiterate this hypocrisy which runs perfectly counter to your stated mission? Why is your prerequisite for donation that the medium be backed by coercion and tyranny? By what silly logic do you permit donations to advance your cause of openness via currency that is controlled, but not via that which is open? Why do you approve of the freedom of expression when it comes to speech, but not when it comes to money? Why do you value open-source knowledge, yet reject open-source exchange? This discrepancy cannot sit comfortably in your conscience, can it? Were you simply waiting for some other big player to make the first move when it comes to free and open exchange? Well, WordPress just did."

I've been told to ask that no-one edits and reposts the designs with copyright on them.

If something can be improved, I'll improve it. I'm happy for all the credit to go to the original artist though.
535  Economy / Securities / Re: S.DICE - SatoshiDICE 100% Dividend-Paying Asset on MPEx on: November 19, 2012, 07:54:45 PM
Also, fair warning - next week I'll be travelling to Macau, the gambling capital of Asia, to present at a gaming conference. I'll be showing SatoshiDICE to many people, including gambling entrepreneurs and business men.

It is possible that certain business deals could happen as a result of this trip. If you were considering buying shares of S.DICE, you may want to do it quickly. Who knows what a rich Macau gambling magnate might think of a system which allows wagering in any amount, from anywhere in the world, anonymously...  Wink

537  Economy / Gambling / Re: Are bitcoins casinos really pointless? on: November 19, 2012, 05:22:13 PM
The only reason SatoshiDICE isn't paying out 99% is because they aren't being squeezed by a more aggressive competitor offering a 98.9% payout.   That day will come.  Because with an increase in play, both SatoshiDICE and some other competitor(s) can still operate profitably on a lower house advantage without cheating (which isn't really an option as it would be exposed them and they'ld lose all credibility in a matter of days.)

Not true actually. SatoshiDICE doesn't pay out 99% because the luck/volatility of doing so is highly likely to result in periodic ruin for the house. I've worked with a few brilliant statisticians to come to this conclusion. Even at the current 98.1% house edge, there is non-trivial risk to the house. If a competitor came out with a house edge at 99%, I would not match it, I'd just wait for the site to bankrupt itself.

Hey,

Most of the candidates are way too complex to be good logos.

Option 7 and 8 are the only reasonable ones, and both can be improved/simplified to the following edit:

540  Economy / Service Announcements / [DOWN] Paysius and Coinapult Down temporarily due to server glitch on: November 17, 2012, 12:45:25 AM
Hey all,

We've had a hard drive problem with the server running certain services for Paysius merchant processing and Coinapult. These service will likely be down for 12-24 hrs.

  • Paysius merchants - customers will not be able to checkout with Bitcoin, and you won't be able to pull out funds until this is fixed.
  • Coinapult web services are working, but it is not connected to a wallet so funds won't move until this is fixed.
  • However, Coinapult orders through BitInstant that are "direct to Bitcoin address" are all fine, they aren't affected and you can still use this service via BitInstant as normal.

To allay any concerns, all customer funds are on cold wallets and in no danger. We're just in "this doesn't work" mode for a while. We'll update here when we get this resolved and we apologize for the inconveniences caused.

Thank you all kindly for your patience.

-Erik and Ira
