522  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: April 24, 2014, 11:25:11 PM
The website is actually very nice and clean, I hope we'll be able to keep using/updating it in the future?

I didn't mean the term takeover in the sense that we should take UNO away from the previous devs. But someone has to take the wheel while they're absent to prevent this baby from crashing. I am glad things are now progressing so fast, that's incredible. Fantastic work FallingKnife and soopy452000! Sent a few UNO your way.

Does anybody have some proposals that could get the greater trading community interested in UNO again? I know I mocked the whole "PoS/Multipool" craze before, but form a marketing standpoint even just plans like that can renew interest in a coin. DMD made some excellent decisions lately, as did Karma (both a community effort BTW, took a while to get there though). Those 2 are good examples of how to turn around a slowly forgotten coin.

I'll just throw a couple of questions/random ideas out there to hopefully kickstart a discussion:

  • are there any people experienced in marketing in here? UNO could really use a foundation of some kind, with people that are dedicated to increase use and awareness of this fantastic crypto
  • do you know of any ongoing projects that involve UNO in some way?
  • is there anythign any of you don't like about the coin specs?
  • are you missing a specific service/feature (like an android/iOS apps, paperwallet)?
  • would you be interested in a physical UNO wallet?
  • would you be willing to donate/actively support development of such services?
  • can you think of a specific use that would fit UNO well (except trading)?  Wink
  • please feel free to add to this list ...

523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ๑۩۞[ANN][KARM] Karma & Karmashares LLC // New Windows Wallet on: April 24, 2014, 10:48:19 PM
@cryptowho I only care about price right now as a mean to buy more Karma to be honest. So in that way the low(er) price is actually welcome. I expected price to remain higher though and am a bit sad that I could have twice as much Karma, had I waited a day longer to place my buys. But long term it doesn't matter that much.

I have invested a considerable postion of my holdings into the LLC, so I am a firm believer in the formulated goals and a bright future for Karma.
524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ๑۩۞[ANN][KARM] Karma & Karmashares LLC // New Windows Wallet on: April 24, 2014, 10:21:59 PM
Yep, taking it right back down. They're waiting for buyorders to build up and then crash the market. Over and over again. Such manipulate, very sad.

While I don't like what I see, the good this is there's now more cheap Karma for everyone. I am in fact cashing in some profits from other coins now to convert to Karma. My stash has shrunken considerably and I need to refill. No I didn't dump, I exchanged for more shares. :-)
525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: April 23, 2014, 10:01:13 PM
Great post FallingKnife. I guess a community takeover is an option, if none of the previous devs can be bothered to step in and address the issues raised. It has happened before and successfully too (in fact my other favourite coin besides UNO, KARM has just gone through this). Looking forward to meet the developer you mentioned.
526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin - Karmashares LLC - Karmashares IPOCO // now on CRYPTSY on: April 22, 2014, 11:51:09 PM

lol so true! I sold 341,000 bc at around 600 sat for 2.2 btc. I got punished and missed out on well over 200 btc when I decided to invest into some crap alt with a ninja launch and premine. Never again. I will be patient for now on.

Wow I can only imagine how that feels. I only had 10k BC that I bought at ~3k sat. Still one of my most successfull investments, I sold at 88k sat. BC is like a crazy coin, it keeps getting shot at but always gets back up. Close to overtake Litecoin in trading volume too. Mighty impressive considering its only a few weeks old...

I have learned again and again that patience is a virtue in cryptoland, but I have suffered quite a few lost profits myself due to not being patient enough. Twice I sold literally minutes before a 5-10x increase. Such sad...

Its easier to keep a coin you have faith in though (for me that's KARM, UNO and smaller amounts of a few others). And it helps having most coins stashed away to prevent panic sells! ;-)

As I posted in the old thread: the new team has my full support. I respect the work Karmagood did in creating the coin and keeping it competitive early on. To me as a mere community member he stopped being responsible when he chose to abandon the coin and its community though (by going missing).

Kosmost and his team took a dying coin and turned it around in a matter of weeks. I have been impressed by their vision and dedication way before this LLC thing got going. That's why I kept buying KARM all the way down to 8 litoshi. That is why I keep buying KARM now (just spend another 30 LTC today). This coin has a lot going for it, but the most important part is vision and execution. Two things Karmagood lacked, but kosmost and his team have in abundance.

Rock on!  Cool
528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin - New Initiatives - Helping People Do Good on: April 22, 2014, 08:56:19 PM
My last post to this thread: as a follower of this coin since the beginning I remember Karmagood well and I think he acted pretty good as a dev several times early on, especially when it came to dealing with the multipool abuse (difficulty and exploiting the "random" block rewards).

BUT once the coin value took a dive he's obviously stopped caring and the coin was spiralling towards death until kosmost and his team took over (with Karmagoods blessings AFAIK). Since then I have been continuously impressed by the quality of leadership the new team has displayed. It is my firm opinion that the recovery of KARM from the list of dead coins is exclusively the new team's achievement. I will continue to support the new team and hope that Karmagood can come around and work things out with kosmost and team in a mature way. He is doing nothing but hurt the coin AND the community right now by acting childish.

I have seen this pattern before, e.g. Grumpycoin. Their dev also went missing, dumped his premine and left the coin and community for dead. But the community took over. Got some marketing going, built a fanbase, started updating the wallet and actually improving the coin. The day GRUMP got added to a major exchange (Mintpal) the dev suddenly decided to reappear, spew nonsense, accuse the team who rescued the coin of stealing his coin etc. - exactly thew same pattern.

Karmagood, you had weeks, if not months to turn this coin around. Instead you CHOSE to abandon us, the coin as well as the community. Coming back today shouting is really lame and makes you look bad. Please take a moment and consider what you're doing and HOW you're doing it. There are better ways to handle this.
529  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin/KarmasharesLLC *now on CRYPTSY! on: April 22, 2014, 02:46:43 PM
If you monitor the action on Mintpal closely it almost seems as if two teams are battling it out. I call it pushers vs. blockers. Cheesy

The pushers slowly work their way towards or just over the previous high. Once they reach a certain tipping point the blockers dump a huge load of coins on the market and take the price down by 5-10 litoshis. Then the pushers start working their way upwards again. This happens several times a day. The pushers are currently slowly but surely winning, driving average price by a couple of litoshi a day. Looks like the blockers are slowly running out of coins.

In some ways the current phase reminds of the calm before the storm during Blackcoins rise. It had just increased 5-10x and then managed to remain stable/rise slowly for a while. Once the wealthy players had "stocked up" at still good prices (and even 70 litoshi is still a good price for KARM), the market went boom (another 5-10x increase with a bubble to 15x). Karmacoin can do the same and maybe even more, considering it is still only valued at 1.5 satoshi - the previous high was 10sat and KARM actually had a lot less to offer then.

Sticking to the LTC market is a wise idea IMO, too much profit to be made by price manipulation in the single digit satoshi markets. LTC markets allow for better growth at current price levels...
530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: April 22, 2014, 10:19:05 AM
UNO is definitely not dying..... Grin
I agree that this is a strange market to trade in
Its a very special market
And no, we are not going to sell out coins this cheap

UNO will succeed because eventually the right people will own the coins at the right time and the price will rise exponentially
UNO traders are patient
What the UNO market does need is a new "generation" of supporters on top of the ones it has already...this will come if we help get the word out
We need the other coin traders to see the value that this coins holds!!!

I am not worried and agree it is not dying, but there is definitely a lack of new interested traders. That combined with total dev inactivity (do we even have a statement on Heartbleed yet?) is at least a little bit worrying. I am certain we'll see at least one more pump sooner or later and I also expect its value to increase slowly but steadily over the next 12 months. In the long term (1 year and beyond) UNO needs more than that us collectors though to stay relevant.

I have a feeling if you'd create a UNO-clone today - same specs but as a rapid-mining PoW/PoS clone - markets would go berserk on that thing...
edit: not that I encourage such a thing, we're being spammed with Blackcoin clones as it is.
531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin/KarmasharesLLC *now on CRYPTSY! on: April 22, 2014, 10:06:35 AM
Nice and comfy new thread, looking forward to continue our discussions here. I brought an old answer I was typing into this thread if you don't mind:

So shares/points which are exchanged now are permanent (stay with that wallet address). While from May 11th any remaining holdings in that wallet basically give you changing bonus shares, depending on how many and how long you held coins there, right?

Example:
I exchange 50M coins for 500,000 shares today (10x bonus). I also hold another 100M on that wallet forever. For 30 days I hold an additional 100M KARM there. At the end of that quarter my shares would be my the fixed 500,000 points + 100,000 points for the constant holdings + (1/3 * 100,000 = 33,333 ) points for my 30 day holdings = 633,333 points total. Am I correct?
532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin - New Initiatives - Helping People Do Good on: April 21, 2014, 11:29:37 PM
Well I am now the proud owner of almost 50million freshly dumped coins. Wouldn't have put up those walls if I didn't like it that way. They've got a better home now. ;-)

Also just sent my first batch of coins to get some Karmashares. Having fun!
533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin - New Initiatives - Helping People Do Good on: April 20, 2014, 11:49:04 PM
Thanks kosmost for the answers. I think I understand better now, I also only now realized the phase to gain shares through holding coins won't start until next month. Its a bit of a shame as I don't really want to "sell" my KARM, not even for Karmashares. But I guess I will have to if I don't want to miss the bonuses. Its a very clever sort of crowdfunding campaign, that also boosts the coin along the way and hopefully leads to a business that creates real lasting value. I wish you (or should I say us as a soon to be "shareholder") best of luck!

As for the price - its a bit too fast for my liking. Price was 14 only 2 days ago and is now mid-50ish. Much resistance on the way to 80 litoshi, profits of 400%+ are very tempting. Plus many bagholders now get their first chance in months to sell out with minimized losses. We will see plenty more dumps. Try to buy them up!

I actually withdrew most of my KARM from exchanges, so that I don't get tempted to sell it in a weak moment. Any profits I might choose to take along the way will instantly be put up as buysupport.
534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin - New Initiatives - Helping People Do Good on: April 19, 2014, 11:18:43 PM
Looking forward to the answers. We'll need them soon if the kickoff is indeed going to be tonight. Cannot decide how/what to invest if I don't understand the system.

On another note - damn is price moving up fast. Slow down people, we want this coins price sustained, not pump and dumped.

Anyway, bye bye cheap Karmacoin, I wish I had bought more of you. But I was always out of LTC when price was lowest. I guess I need to find new homes for my buywalls now. It was fun defending KARM against dumpers for the past few weeks. ;-)

I will watch where the new floor settles and then help wall there as long as I have some LTC left.
535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin - New Initiatives - Helping People Do Good on: April 19, 2014, 10:28:14 PM
i don't get what is happening right now lol......

just chaos buy and sell orders can't see where its going lol
Did you check the volume? Between Cryptsy and Minpal KARM has been generating around 20BTC (or 800LTC) trading volume today. That's still not much compared to what will come, but much higher than anythign this coin has seen in a long, long time.

Of course volume brings volatility. New people pouring in raise the price (no time for slow accumulation), others want to supress it (to keep buying cheap KARM for a while longer) or just want out with a healthy profit (don't forget, there's plenty people who bought KARM at 10litoschi - ~27litoshi is fantastic profit).

The more attention KARM gets the coming days, the more volatile price will get. But the base value (average price) has already risen 100% compared to 2 days ago. I think it will only go up from here.
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin - New Initiatives - Helping People Do Good on: April 19, 2014, 10:02:49 PM
First of all good job so far kosmost and the whole team. There's a great deal of excitement in the air now, great time to be part of this community!  Cheesy

That said, I have read through the Karmashares site and FAQ several times now. As exciting as I find the idea (its really quite simple, as most great ideas are), its the details that irritate me.

You say that shares are reserved for potentially any Karmacoin that will ever be created (~92Billion max). But how do you prevent "double claiming" (for lack of a better term)? Lets say I decide not to exchange my coins, but instead participate by holding them in my wallet for 30 days. I then get shares/points for every one of those coins, so theoretically their shares cannot be claimed again, right? What if after those 30 days I decide to sell half of those coins. The buyer now wants to also claim his shares, but his wallet now contains 5.000.000 of my "already claimed" coins and lets say 5.000.000 "unclaimed" of his own. This is when it starts to get really confusing.

Exchanging them is more straightforward at first glance. But what exactly happens to those coins? Do they stay in cold storage for a certain time, or are they destroyed (sure hope not, though that might increase value of the remaining coins)? If they are not "locked away forever", then we will run into the same problems described above as the coins enter circulation again.

Maybe I just don't get it yet , but I feel I'm not alone. I think you'll still have to finetune the site explaining the concept in the coming days.

@rickyross I don't think kahir is trolling, he's just voicing his opinion. Lets be nice please.
537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: April 19, 2014, 01:03:46 PM
Trading this coin feels like a mexican standoff. Nobody wants to make the first move.

Its pretty obvious most UNO holders son't want to sell their coins this cheap, but:
A) either nobody wants them, or
B) people who want to buy them care very much about not raising price too fast and are very patient.

It feels strange trading in this market. Either the coin is dying, or it is preparing for something big... a high risk/reward scenario.
538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin - New Initiatives - Helping People Do Good on: April 17, 2014, 03:16:37 PM
20 wastoo soon. A fair price right now is in the 14-16 range.

Next week?
I'm not an oracle, but if the news creates the right waves, price should adjust to hold above 20.

I doubt this is going to bring KARM back to a BTC market, that will probably take a bit longer.
539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][KARM] Karmacoin - New Initiatives - Helping People Do Good on: April 17, 2014, 10:01:49 AM
Mmmhm, finally some of my buyorders got filled last night. Thanks!
540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: April 16, 2014, 09:30:59 PM
I am trading UNO on Mintpal, come on people and join the fun!  Cheesy

Right now it feels like I am trading with myself, so little action. Mintpal is hands down the best echange there is right now and we need some volume to keep UNO listed. It is currently the lowest volume BTC market there, which is a shame as UNO is such a great coin.

I'm there! Bought some at 0056 over night. I try to cycle them through and close the spread when I can. Need to have the market ready for buyers. I try keep at least 200 coins over there, but people buy 'em up and move out (probably to Cryptopus' dice game)!  :-)
Cool, coins looking for new owners might get lucky then. But since the price is basically fixed at 0.6 ATM, its hard to actually get a good trade going. I noticed volume on Cryptsy has also dropped significantly (was over 10x as high only a short time back)...
