526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Around 4 Million Bitcoins lost forever!! on: November 27, 2017, 04:31:25 PM
Just came across this article today says that 4 million out of the total supply of 21 million have already been lost due to various reasons. The most popular reason are the HODLers who are holding it for quite long. These people have reduced the supply of bitcoins in market which has upsurged the price of bitcoin so much. Satoshi surely is the biggest HODLer himself.

Here is the article : http://fortune.com/2017/11/25/lost-bitcoins/

But holding bitcoin doesn't mean they are lost forever or out of circulation?
Yes, but I think they are taking an assumption that out of all such coins which have been held for long term around 20-30% are lost because some people have not been able to recover their private keys or maybe would have lost it. One could really see many such stories on the forum itself. But I still feel 20-30% is too much even for an assumption too.
527  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Speed up Bitcoin Transactions with this Simple Tool! on: November 27, 2017, 04:27:51 PM
A newbie making his first post regarding accelerating BTC transactions isn't it quite suspicious in itself? i have never heard for any such program before this. Moreover they are also willing to do such things for almost 0.01$? Never going to install such a fishy thing on my pc.
528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] VLB - The Ultimate Blockchain Fuel for the Vehicle Lifecycle Industry on: November 27, 2017, 04:23:16 PM
The ICO is running quite good so far, congratulations.

early congratulatory from me also for having good and nearly success of this project . Its great to be part of this great project.

Its also look nice to see those great people who were also involved in this great project .

Wow. Its already 3400 + ETH raised on the early hours of the ICO. I think it will definitely hit the softcap very soon. Goodluck! Smiley
Yes, but its not quite a surprise seeing such an upsurge. The ICO is backed by a great idea which is acting as a great advertiser for this ICO. Who doesn't wants to safeguard his car by sharing all the information about it into a blockchain model? I am interested in seeing its results too. Hope they are able to deliver the platform as per the roadmap.
529  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin crash after 10K usd? on: November 27, 2017, 04:19:16 PM
You can just stop predicting BTC because its not really predictable anymore. New people are joining the market almost everyday with a hope of HODLing it for long. Market cap just increased from 100Billion USD(which was possible in 8 years) to 150 Billion USD just within a few weeks. How in this world would say bitcoin can crash? I don't think there is any crash coming soon.
530  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin dip during the Holidays? on: November 27, 2017, 04:14:39 PM
As per the current sudden increase it absolutely doesn't seems to me that bitcoin could dip its just increasing and increasing. But yes we have seen this a few times bitcoin dips during holidays. However last year's Christmas showed somewhat a different reaction and bitcoin increased whilst it was Christmas. You can't really predict crypto markets anymore.
531  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Can I open up a local shop and sell bitcoins for cash? on: November 27, 2017, 04:04:48 PM
I'm wondering if I can open up a local shop and sell bitcoins for cash without paperwork or signing anything. Sure a bitcoin ATM can fulfill that role but as a shop I could do other things such as sell bitcoin merch etc, offer information on bitcoin and cryptos etc, but primarily I'm wondering if I can sell bitcoin for cash without hassling customers with paperwork. I suppose the laws would be the same for an ATM machine? which I haven't heard to be of a legal problem. I'd be considering doing this in Texas, USA, by the way. Any references or shared knowledge would be great, and I'm less interested in speculation. Thanks!
NO! unless your state is ready to provide you with a GST number for such kind of business just don't even think of opening such a shop or you would be considered as a person involved in money laundering. Changing btc for cash would mean zero accountability so authorities would be really be worried about any such venture.
532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin price reaches 9735.00 US Dollar, where to invest now? on: November 27, 2017, 03:59:42 PM
As of the current price raise campaign of the bitcoin People are really too confused which way to go. Is bitcoin ever going to face some correction or it has almost become immortal? Even I sold a few of my bitcoins for waves but sad on my part that I lost a lot my money would have increased to 25% if I would have kept it in bitcoin only. I think at this time its wise to keep all your money in bitcoin and let destiny decide your fate.
533  Local / India / Re: What is Laxmicoin, possibly the first legal Indian cryptocurrency? on: November 26, 2017, 06:50:05 PM
It has just been proposed by the Central Govt. It will take a lot of time to implement such an Idea in blockchain considering the amount of obligations and bureaucracy present in India. Moreover it would be a great challenge for the govt. to make it regulated. But the problem is if it is regulated then it might lose its biggest characteristic that is the decentralization. Not sure how is govt. going to implement the idea.
534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you feel ICOs try to raise too much? on: November 26, 2017, 06:46:09 PM
Oh wow I was searching for this thread since I joined the altcoin section. Raising more than 10000 ETH just to develop an application or I would say a "platform" that is seriously too much. Creating an ERC token and completing with all other requirements takes just around 1 BTC at max. For any type of best project development just give me 500 ETH I would surely come up with the best startup app you can ever get. These ICO's just try to steal people's money and thats it.
535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Diamond splitting and selling on: November 26, 2017, 06:42:16 PM
I want to split my Bitocin Diamond and eventually sell it, preferably soon. What wallets can I trust to split it and do you recommend any exchange to sell it? I know Binance supports it but currently I think they have suspended deposits in BCD. I currently use a ledger nano s however it may be a while and or never before they support it.

Thanks!
BCD looks much like a scam to me. Its absolutely aimless and haven't seen many people interested in it. It didn't even have any support from the core miners team. Most of the top exchanges don't really support it. I would suggest you to wait and watch if these BCD guys are even trustworthy to get your private keys.
536  Economy / Speculation / Re: Fork gone! BTC to $10k in 2017 guaranteed! on: November 26, 2017, 06:39:08 PM
Seems like your prediction is getting true quite early. Never seen such a drastic increase in the value of bitcoin. The best part about this increase is that along with the value this time the market capitalization has also increased too much. In past month the market capitalization increased 1.5 times. It reached 150 Billion USD today while just a month ago it touched 100 Billion USD after 8 long years.
537  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin in India on: November 26, 2017, 06:35:24 PM
Indian Central Bank or Reserve Bank of India is absolutely silent regarding any issue about bitcoin. They neither banning it nor supporting it. The trend is such that they have not even been able to draft a law for its regulation or taxation. This makes me quite dubious about future of bitcoin in India. It being a quite fragile economy is absolutely not in a condition to promote BTC. Still worried what will I do if it is banned.
538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Successful ICO Experiences on: November 26, 2017, 06:29:09 PM
I see many people asking for opinions about ICO investments, if they are good, profitable or not and I see many people replying it can be good or not, you must have knowledge to choose a legit ICO, to find out who are the developers...

But I would like to hear successful stories about people who invested in ICOs and made profit. Please, tell what ICOs you invested and how much profit you made, if you liked it and if you still look for this kind of investment.
Not a personal experience but coming from a very close friend. Not long back he invested in PILLAR ICO. Invested around 2.5 Ethereum around 6 months ago. These 2.5 ETH magically gave a return of around 40 times. For those who don't know Pillar ICO hit its hard cap within 3 days. Well he became quite rich overnight. Not heard of any other such story after that. and yes he sold at quite correct time pillar has fallen back again.
539  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: @ 2 Newbie Questions on: November 26, 2017, 06:24:24 PM
I'm new to mining, but have 20+ years in IT. Just started research on building a miner.
Just getting started on the learning curve, but spent years as an enterprise sys admin, so I'm sure I'll figure it out, but I have a couple of questions bouncing around in my head that i haven't found any info on.

1. As the number of coins generated increases the complexity/calculation load increases. I assume different currencies are at different complexity levels due to their age and the number of coins generated, so hardware that might be mediocre for BitCoin might be more than adequate for another coin, so I 'm looking for on the complexity/calculation load for various coins.

Does any one have an information source with this info?

2. I'm looking for, but haven't found anything yet on competing for transactions. Comparing pools (which ones are best for different coins) and what factors besides raw crypto power influence getting more transactions?

Thanks for any help.

The amount of complexity for mining any coin depends upon the hash rate. Every currency networks aims to maintain a block rate of certain time. Like Bitcoin aims to keep the pace at 10 minutes per block. Therefore many different miners compete with each other to mine the next block. This competition is maintained by increasing the complexity of calculations.
540  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin reach $10,000 today 26 Nov 2017? on: November 26, 2017, 06:10:45 PM
I am quite astonished to see its such a rapid growth. Really these things are making it look like a bubble which is ready to burst up soon. We have increased 10 times in the year 2017 itself. I dont know any other asset which has shown such a great results. Be ready for upcoming regulations regarding bitcoins. It might rich 10000 soon this November.
