This is real popular! I'm getting 63 connections.
How do you get so many connections? Even when I set maxconnections I still don't see nearly that many. If you are behind a firewall, you normally are limited to 8 ( it looks like the author raised it to 16) unless you open the P2P port in your firewall. static const int MAX_OUTBOUND_CONNECTIONS = 16; Really not needed, without digging to far into the code I believe it is 9336 according to the debug log. Personally I do not think it is wise to poke holes in your firewall if you are using the daemon for personal use and not running a service. Actually it's just upnp. But, I'm behind a modem and a router so I need port forwarding on one then upnp works on the other. sig: Donate FC 6j5gukHvMVTmwQsJpz7PhsJ2bu7cUvYZ2N 9336 did it...I should have known better. I am behind several routers -- so forwarding is a way of life for me. Thank you!

Transactions confirm so fast!!! LOL hyper blocks. What's the block target?
They've gone to Plaid! They must have overshot us by a week and a half!

Post ur addys for first transactions of coins 6uhsQk1ZKxwkey7Yc5p4jKnX8cqDMu1Snx Not that I am trying to complain... but doesn't this reduce the anonymity of cryptos? I mean, if I posted my address -- then everyone would know I am me... and I am not even so sure I know I am me! True there is a certain amount of "linking" that can be done via posting an addy, but you would keep ur anonymity by using a new addy for every transaction as that part of the anonymity combined with you can find out possibly the ip that the transaction was relayed from, and as these early days only a few points of connection on the map, by me posting and addy see what information you can find out about me 6uhsQk1ZKxwkey7Yc5p4jKnX8cqDMu1Snx I'm very intrigued to know tbh, Oh, I wan't looking to raise dust... just thought it was interesting. You have a point, creating a new addy for every transaction would increase the anonymous factor. Just wondered if anyone else besides me thought about that kind of thing

Yes, OP made a big miscalculation and released it with this stupidly low difficulty...
I think the intent was to create a LTC clone... in doing so, the starting difficulty parameter was not changed. Unfortunately, when LTC was launched there was no GPU mining available.

The build problem is in util.h and can be fixed by
sed -i -e 's/pthread2/pthread/g' util.h
For some reason someone hacked it to use pthread2 instead of the normal pthread used by litecoin.
-MarkM-
Thanks for that. where should i add this code? Sed just fixes a file on the fly... I think the source needs to be corrected at github. Add: When the source is on githib....

Diff 0.00097655 4,699 Blocks

Even if these coins end up worthless, it has been fun just to try to mine them. My first few blocks were rejected though. Finally getting some coins now.
I imagine the early miners of Bitcoin, Litecoin, P2PCoin, Terracoin all probably thought the same thing!

how much is the diff now?

Very interesting how there’s zero information on how to mine it...
I wasn't going to say anything... but mining this coin is like mining every other coin. It's SOP. Plus what you said: made a list of the advantages that this currency has to offer: It allows the inventor and his friends to premine it overnight ? ? ? Umm... there was no premine... anyone who knows how to solo mine would have been mining it right away. I have mined quite a few blocks since I read the initial forum post. Well then disregard my posting. I’m just getting rejects and no blocks. I assume the difficulty is so low that whoever has the lowest latency to the network gets his block accepted first, and the ones with higher latency just get nothing but rejects. (please correct me if I’m wrong?) "Generated coins must mature 120 blocks before they can be spent. When you generated this block, it was broadcast to the network to be added to the block chain. If it fails to get into the chain, its state will change to "not accepted" and it won't be spendable. This may occasionally happen if another node generates a block within a few seconds of yours." Not unusual since this coin was just launched and a lot of people have jumped on it.

i have generated but not accepted and all are black?
Highly competitive at this time... the chain went from just a few hundred to almost 3k blocks in the last hour!

u should tell in advance.... so people can get ready no just the freaks that keep reading it all the day.
I could start mining it as crazy, so it would become a premined coin
lol... Forum freak... guilty as charged!!

I expected at least one alt-coin developer to see this thread and respond, but I am feeling now that they won't do it purely so a new alt-coin does not replace theirs, even if we are newbs here.
Maybe someone would pop up helping out if you guys were eager to learn about cryptography and programming, instead of script-kidding an existing source into creating a new blockchain. Nobody said they wanted to release a 'real' coin. This was all an exercise to see how the process works. There's my point.. I'm not saying you should release a real coin. I'm saying that while you might think you are learning 'how the process works' you are instead 'dialing the knobs' of an existing program. Examine the source, examine the bitcoin wiki and try to program your own client. Has more educational value. Point taken... I thought I could lend a hand to existing people -- but in doing so realize there is so much more to understand. Anything that is used to create itself -- captures my interest in a big way.

It's nice to know there is crypto currency out there... it's even cooler to know how the whole process works imo.
