561  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there any BTC bank? on: April 20, 2014, 08:50:18 PM
I'm sure there are some "banks" around. You basically send all your money and they falsely promise interest on that money, and you'll never be able to withdraw it again. No, this is not the point of bitcoins, be your own bank. Smiley

True.
Why send your bitcoin to someone else and ask him/her to hold it for you, instead of holding the bitcoin yourself? Cheesy
To get some sort of interest. Altho all those interest / investment schemes are scams.

You get next to zero interest now anyway, but banks only make their money by lending it out at extortionate rates. We shouldnt support their loan sharking.
562  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: April 20, 2014, 08:49:17 PM
We won't see it this year or the next year IMO.
Bitcoin price may reach 10K 3-5 years from now, but that is just my speculation.

Why wont it happen this near or next? IT's been slow this year but look at the speed and and value it shot up late last year. Same could happen this year.
563  Other / Off-topic / Re: No punishment for her....Why the F*ck Not? on: April 20, 2014, 08:30:48 PM
I always find animal cruelty horrible but feel a hypocrite for eating meat.
Animal cruelty isn't the same as slaughtering animals for food.

I think slashing an animals throat and letting it bleed out is pretty cruel. Anything else seems like double standards. What about killing a dog then eating it?
Killing a dog and then eating it, if the killing is isn't cruel ( where do they slash cow throats? Seems like an outdated way of slaughter ) is ok, yes.

It is outdated but its an effective method. They kill all cows and chickens etc like this. Usually hang em upside down to bleed out.
564  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which Bitcoin Exchange do you use and why ? on: April 20, 2014, 08:25:40 PM
I've only used Bittylicious but I like how fast you get your coins.

I was surpised how quick it was. Bittylicious is good for cash purchases but for coin trades I use Btce.
565  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Bitcoin safe to use? on: April 20, 2014, 08:24:38 PM
 Huh Huh
I think bitcoin is about as safe to use as a condom. Somewhere around 90% safe when used properly and according to the instructions =P

If you follow the rules and don't do anything stupid the odds of you losing your coins is fairly low. But people do things like keeping coins on an exchange long term, not having a secure passphrase, keeping large quantities in low security storage, downloading questionable software and/or not using proper antivirus/malware software, using web wallets (seriously why the fuck do you people do that I can't fathom) etc etc and that greatly increases the risk.

lol nice analogy, but I though condoms were 98% asafe?

567  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there any BTC bank? on: April 20, 2014, 08:20:34 PM
Bitcoin was created as an alternative to the greedy bankers. And now you want Banks which deals with BTC?

Exactly this. The great thing about bitcoin is we can be our own banks. We need to get away from our reliance on them.
568  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How did you get into bitcoin? on: April 20, 2014, 08:19:33 PM
news website after the recent crash due to PBOC ban

You meant rumor, right? Cheesy

lol, that's the power of fudsters and panic sellers. Welcome to bitcoin  Grin.
569  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Bitcoin safe to use? on: April 20, 2014, 08:16:42 PM
Bitcoin is as safe as you make it safe, that is the beauty of Bitcoin. With fiat you just hope justice will help you if you get hacked, with Bitcoin you might secure it very well

You need to use separate computer never connected with offline wallet. Hopefully hardware wallets will be available soon for no tech users

Very true.
People really need to understand this, and use an offline wallet to store 99% of their bitcoin.

what is offline wallet? how do I get one?

An offline wallet is keeping your coins on either a paper wallet or in a wallet.dat backed up on something like a usb or CDR that's not online so it's safe.
570  Other / Off-topic / Re: Did you guys know "FUD" is an actually thing? on: April 20, 2014, 08:13:50 PM

571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - the future or the past? on: April 20, 2014, 08:11:11 PM
I think Bitcoin, simply put, is about being 'true' money and not relying on any bank or authority to control or issue it.
572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How a Restaurant can Implement BTC on: April 20, 2014, 07:56:42 PM
If I owned a restaurant,

The customer would pay when they order. It will get a confirmation by the time food is ready.

Then they can leave a tip at the end of the meal.

I don't think double spends are a big a problem as people think they are. If a payment processor is used they'd be covered anyway.
573  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Debit Card on: April 20, 2014, 07:54:41 PM
What would be the purpose? Only to be able to spend bitcoin (albeit indirectly) literally anywhere Visa is accepted. Sure, this is an interim measure, but hugely useful as we wait for the world to catch up to us in bitcoin adoption. The significance of this is large. Sorta like a BitPay/Coinbase type conversion solution that we get to drive from the buying end of the sale, rather than waiting for the seller to adopt.

I'd not before been aware of coincashcard. If legit, I'd sign up immediately. Kind of expensive, but that will likely change as competitors enter the market. The site is largely devoid of concrete info though. Has anyone here used their services? Who is behind it?

I'm sure you could buy prepaid debit cards with bitcoins, but what would be the point? It'd be much easier to just pay with a phone or have someone scan your qr code and you put your pin in like you do on a regular chip and pin or something.
574  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Song are you Listening To? on: April 20, 2014, 07:52:37 PM

What?! Are you crazy? Evidently you haven't seen how versatile he is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GI6CfKcMhjY

He might be versatile but he's still cheesy. And I'm don't think cheesy is necessarily meant in a bad way,.
575  Economy / Services / Re: ★★★ HIGHEST SIGNATURE PAYMENT ON THE BOARD - NEW RATES - RitzGrandCasino.com ★★★ on: April 20, 2014, 07:51:44 PM
everyone above is confirmed.
Payments happen on the 1st of the month for the previous month. Unlike other programs, we pay you all on time every time.
We will even give you the Time you can expect to be paid by!!!
No need to enrol  every month, as it is all automatic. We always do check on posts and signatures etc. So anyone trying to scam will be caught.

The big switch is on to
Ritz signature program..
So I will not have to post my post count again?
Well, that's convenient! Tongue

Yep, no need to do anything just post constructive posts. And leave the signature as is. Cannot be easier than that.

Anyone can post in other topics. It doesn't have to be just in the gambling area.

Seen this in some other signature campaigns, posts in giveaway threads and contests are deducted from the total. Do you have that policy too?

If you're just spamming your coin address then probably not. Most giveaways are banned here now anyway.
576  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can anyone tell me when I will be senior member on: April 20, 2014, 07:40:12 PM
Not sure if this is outdated info now, but:

The way activity is calculated:
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

It's still relevant, though it confuses many haha. There's an in depth thread trying to explain it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=495948.0

Not confusing at all ^^ you need to be familiar with some math signs ^^ :

I'll explain the formula for those who didn't get it

Time*14 with time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration, so what does this means, if you have posted during a two week period you get a 1 time , so you'll get 1x14 let's imagine someone registered a month ago with active posting (minimum of one post per two week) so a month is 4 weeks, so the guys will get on this side of the equation 2x14=28 if he only posted in one of the two 2 weeks periode of the month periode he'll get only 1x14=14

Now what does Min(time*14,posts) means, it just means that activity will equal the minimum value between the number of posts and time*14, if we take the example we used above with time*14=28, if the guy posted only twice during that months period his post count would be 2 so the minimum between 28 and 2 is of course 2 and thus 2 will be activity, on the other hand if they guy posted lets 1K post during that month, it will be 28 and 1K and the minimum would 28 instead as it is the min

Its already explained at the link more concisely, but youre explanation just makes it more confusing lol.
577  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Overview of Signature-Ad Campaigns on: April 20, 2014, 07:19:50 PM
This thread should be on top , i got this link from some wheres else . and it help a lot .
Yes now they need to do this thread as sticky because its very helpful for all new and old members for all signature campaigns

I respect the OP but please mods, don't sticky this. Signature ads cause enough trouble anyway.

Mods aren't going to sticky this.

Well I was talking technically, and the offer was on for 3 months already BTW
Well he's paying a lot, eventually he will have to either stop accepting new people, lower rates or end the service completely.

Not if his casino grows and grows with the advertising its receiving. PD seems to have been running a long time with ads and that's just a dice game.
580  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will 1 Bitcoin will Reach 1 million usd one day? on: April 20, 2014, 02:44:13 PM
A lot of Americans just don't seem to want free healthcare and/or like to blame Obama for everything.

The problem is that the healthcare is not free. And the tax payers are paying a huge price for it. Compare the Romneycare to the Obamacare and you'll see how better it was.

Well most countries are in debt. Is China in zero debt?

Even better. Think.

Taxpayers pay for police and army too. Why do people seem to be ok with that but not healthcare?

Americans seem to think socialism is evil. It's better and cheaper when everyone puts in and society benefits.
