561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UN Will Use Blockchain to Fight Obesity on: April 06, 2016, 05:02:32 AM
That is not going to happen 100%. Imagine going to McDonalds or Burger King on a Friday and ordering a new row of sandwiches and getting rejected because you have already used all your 'fast food' points for the week last Monday alone  Grin This will lead to some funny conversations at the checkout in supermarkets though.
562  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar Opened , your first impressions ? on: April 05, 2016, 10:28:46 PM
I think it's a little bit far-fetched that OpenBazaar will beat Ebay in terms of customers traffic or deals closed however it's a step in the right direction for decentralized Bitcoin auction sites. Perhaps with time OpenBazaar will become the leading Bitcoin exchange for physical goods and being open-source and free of any fees will only help them to achieve a greater success.
563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did Bitcoin Spread ? on: April 05, 2016, 10:05:52 PM
I think I first heard about Bitcoin back in late 2012 while browsing another forum. It didn't catch my attention because I assumed it was some kind of a technological project for computer geeks or something and there was no real use for the thing and oh boy was I totally wrong. I wish as I was an early adopter but it's my fault for being ignorant and now we are scrambling for peanuts while back then you could have thousands of coins haha.
564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the maximum amount of BTC you've sold at one time? on: April 05, 2016, 08:53:23 PM
I sold around 2-3 coin just before Christmas last year to take advantage of the winter sales. I exchanged them for gift cards with a great discount and something smaller went into my PayPal account. I am not a big believer into long-term hoarding because life is short and it's better to live and enjoy life right at this moment and not make big plans for the future which may not pan out.
565  Other / Off-topic / Re: When is Bitcoins going to die? on: April 05, 2016, 08:45:12 PM
Bitcoin won't die as long as people continue to use it on a daily basis. I think the only thing that could hinder Bitcoin's performance is if there emerges a new crypto coin with better features that will overtake Bitcoin. I highly doubt there will be a massive price crash that will push people away from it but anything is possible. But still a new innovative digital currency will most likely throw Bitcoin into oblivion.
566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin make Banks disappear? on: April 05, 2016, 08:37:20 PM
But to buy food you need to convert your Bitcoins into fiat at the very banks you despise so you will be able to buy food and not starve to death. What will happen if grocery stores and restaurants refuse to use Bitcoin for payments. What will you do then? No country will replace its local currency with Bitcoin just because it's better in the eyes of the beholder.
567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it possible to hack your bitcoin from your wallet? on: April 05, 2016, 08:31:39 AM
In order of your Bitcoins to be 'hacked' out of your account the perpetrator needs your unencrypted private keys. Now if you have a copy of them lying around on your HDD or you have a weak password to your online wallet theoretically your funds can be compromised. You can remedy this situation by strengthening your passwords by using a password manager and not holding a copy of your private keys or mnemonic string on your computer.
568  Economy / Economics / Re: Homes On Wheels? Self Drive Vehicles Will Change How We Live & Dwell? on: April 05, 2016, 08:14:54 AM
There is one popular Swedish YouTuber girl Simone Giertz who is living on a house boat in Stockholm. She can literary unmoor the boat and go to sleep in another country's waters easily lol. I don't think that movable homes will drive the prices down of immovable properties. Honestly if I feel adventurous and have the money I would buy a motorhome or a house boat and travel around the world for a year or 2. It will probably be the greatest experience of my life  Cheesy
569  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Separate Computer for Bitcoin/Financial Information vs Personal? on: April 05, 2016, 07:53:18 AM
OP you may consider installing a Linux distro on another partition and dual-boot Windows and Linux. You can do your normal work on Windows using Office 365 and other programs that don't have an equivalent on Linux and boot into the Linux distro when you want to visit risky sites and download shady stuff from them. Or you could use a Live Linux distro on a USB stick and do the same. You can even buy an external HDD to transfer the downloaded stuff on it too.
570  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar is here! on: April 05, 2016, 07:21:52 AM
Can people sell both physical and digital goods on OpenBazaar? Who is going to pay the shipping cost if delivered overseas and are there any measures in place to prevent scams? Also is there an inbuilt escrow service in the app? I am going to download this and check it out this weekend sounds very interesting.
571  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to stay away from gambling? suggestions ? on: April 04, 2016, 05:33:18 AM
If you are a compulsive gambler and want to stop I suggest banning yourself from your gambling accounts by opting out from using the site for a period of time or contacting a site's official who will do it for you. Also there are programs that once installed on your PC will monitor what kind of websites you are visiting and will automatically disconnect you upon loading a gambling site. And if you are in need of urgent help you can always call a help line.
572  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gambling is Exploding on: April 04, 2016, 05:26:10 AM
Bitcoin is very popular among gamblers who can't bet online from the countries because there is a ban by the government for all unlicensed sportsbooks. Bitcoin gambling is developing at a rapid rate and I expect a lot of bonuses and nice offers for the upcoming Euro 2016.
573  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So much for Bitcoin is used for money laundering on: April 04, 2016, 05:06:18 AM
Everyone who has been crying Bitcoin is used for money laundering is the biggest hypocrites themselves. Now if the global leaders were smart they would have been using Bitcoin to store their dirty money instead of setting up offshore companies and not trying to outlaw it in the first place  Cheesy
The pot calling the kettle black it's so funny.
574  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you actively spend your bitcoins? on: April 04, 2016, 04:51:17 AM
I am using my Bitcoins to trade alt coins at the moment and to purchase discounted stuff online. I hope after the halving Bitcoin will have a steady price growth but at the moment it looks stagnant to the point it's not worth much to hold any big amounts when there are other opportunities to earn some profit trading. I wish I had invested in Bitcoin back in 2013 when people made the big money but alas Undecided
575  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin and Porn on: April 04, 2016, 04:38:13 AM
I am not accustomed to paying for porn I prefer to watch free of charge. I think if I am going to pay I will use Bitcoin instead of my credit card because I don't want any porn sites to show up on my bank statement. I don't want anyone from my family to know what I am doing online with my free time  Grin But yeah Bitcoin is perfect as a payment option for porn sites because of the anonymity.
576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Overstock invests $4 million in Caribbean firm working on digital currencies on: April 03, 2016, 05:47:53 AM
Although Bitcoin is open-source I am worried about patent trolls or any of the big banks trying to patent something in their version of the Blockchain. Just read this http://www.cnbc.com/2016/01/28/bank-of-america-is-going-big-on-blockchain-plans-to-file-20-patents.html

Looks like everyone now wants a piece of the Blockchain technology for their own greedy purposes. Is there a way to protect the Blockchain so as not to allow people to file for patents left right and center?
577  Economy / Speculation / Re: How long is Bitcoin life? on: April 03, 2016, 05:40:17 AM
Bitcoin was designed to be an open-source project for the people by the people. So as long as the devs are passionate about developing new features and taking care of the technical aspect of the crypto and we as users continue to use Bitcoin instead of fiat then the project could go on forever till the last Bitcoin is mined.
578  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Legality of firearms sales utilizing bitcoins on: April 03, 2016, 05:26:53 AM
I think when trading guns you need to provide your ID to the merchant regardless of what currency you are paying for. So if you are hoping to trade in guns anonymously with Bitcoin I don't think this will be legal in the jurisdiction you are in but it's better to just ask around or consult a lawyer.
579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Browser that will pay BTC on: April 03, 2016, 05:22:36 AM
The Brave browser will substitute the ads on the webpages with their own ads and will pay you money to watch these instead I find this very funny  Grin The KYC requirements are not bad at all verifying an email address and a phone number is actually a lot less demanding than uploading an ID card for example. I am going to try out the browser myself it sounds very interesting.
580  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Doubling Bitcoin? on: April 03, 2016, 05:15:29 AM
Whatever you do with your Bitcoins just don't believe in any of the high-yield investment websites because they are mostly scams and after you deposit you will have a lot of trouble trying to cash out your profits. Stay away from any Ponzi schemes guys it's not worth the hassle.
