I think I'm addicted! Shocked

In other words, I don't know what I would do if this forum disappeared anyone else have this problem or have a backup plan?

I don't know but like we might need a counselling help for Bitcoins?

Thoughts? ...I won't be butt hurt if you decide to laugh at me also ...  Huh
I started bitcoining to ditch my mmo-addiction, I suppose that could work the other way around Smiley
563  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [warning] bitmit.net was sold secret without telling the community. on: January 18, 2013, 03:08:33 PM
I'd like to publicly state that I have had no trouble accessing escrowed coins once released after the recent revelations. I would however like to state it again: Whoever is running bitmit needs to release information about himself publicly, you are undoutably seeing less escrow revenue by now. Since afterall whats the point of an anonymous escrow ?
564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the greatest threat to Bitcoin? Some possible technical problem or gov? on: January 18, 2013, 02:28:16 PM
In my mind a full scale world war seems like the biggest threat.
565  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: January 18, 2013, 02:27:10 PM
I had a problem with my order and hence needed their support. I got the first reply within an hour and everything went smoothly, certainly more and better than I have come to expect from amazon and likes.
566  Economy / Goods / Re: btc trinkets: Bitcoin Tiepins, Cufflinks, Lapel pins, Keychain, Money Clip on: January 18, 2013, 02:25:01 PM
Just got mine in today and boy am I happy! The money clip is exceptionally sturdy and the tiepin is equally awesome! I will be buying from again. I did not use escrow and will not in the future with this seller.
~Peace
Thank you for your kind words and taking the time to post, this really helps me build the trust required to one day sell gold and silver versions of my products.
567  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: January 17, 2013, 03:54:12 PM
I made an order of ~400$, shipping to europe was very reasonable 1.112btc for two ssd hard drives. Im fairly certain that the delivery time will work out to be roughly a month, there were several different delivery options available, I would of have guesstimated the fastest ones to reach me in two weeks at most vie FedEx, but I was not in a hurry so I went with the cheapest one. i know I'll be paying 24% ontop of that in import taxes, the bottom line is that the service in it's current state works for Eu customers... but we do need a bitcoin retailer within the Eu.

Bumping the most valid thread ever.
569  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: January 17, 2013, 10:14:34 AM
Im having trouble finding/figuring out how dynamic/up to date the pricing on the site is. The items I am looking at dont work out anywhere near the mtgox 24h average which I suspected to be the yardstick there. How and when do prices change in accordance to bitcoins exchange rate ?

The exchange rate when calculating prices in USD seems a little low?

This displayed exchange rate has been fixed.
The exchange rate at checkout is always calculated by Bitpay via their formula: https://bitpay.com/bitcoin-exchange-rates
This way the customer is always guaranteed to get the very best rate possible for their Bitcoins.

Do you get lower prices in BTC when you get to the checkout?

Yes I do, much better.

you could use this :-D
I am perfectly aware of such tools, the thing just is I do not want to. I've got it stuck in my head that  I will eventually want to pay all parts of this enterprise with bitcoins, including taxes. Im sure the local tax authority is at the very leas several years away from this, but I would be greatly dissapointed if by the end of this year I dont have manufacturers accepting bitcoin payments. Designers working for bitcoin have been available since the beginning. I just simply want to move to a point where euros or dollars are nolonger in any way involved and thus consider manually setting the prices a ongoing temporary inconvenience.
572  Economy / Goods / Re: btc trinkets: Bitcoin Tiepins, Cufflinks, Lapel pins, Keychain, Money Clip on: January 17, 2013, 06:39:17 AM
Prices redone due to the exchange rate moving up, but while I was doing "the math" I came to realize that I had met my return of investment on the design and mold costs of my three first items. Because of this the price drops there are larger.

[edit] outdated info.

Current prices stand at:
Keychain 1.08BTC
Money clip 2.45BTC
Cufflinks 2.26BTC
Tie pin 1.91BTC
Lapel pin 1.03BTC

[edit] the up to date prices can always be seen in the first post of this thread.

I dont need to accept fiat-currency for my goods, I actually felt a guilty sort of pleasure for declining pp-usd the other day because Bitcoin.

Id like to see an option "I wont preorder anything, will see later."

Please be informed that we have an urgent Power Maintenance in our Datacenter Network.

I read all your posts. The next days I will fix the mentioned bugs and make the Bitmit listings more cleaner by canceling the items from sellers who were not on the site for about 4 weeks.
I really hate doing this but it needs to be said:
bitmit.net is hosted by piradius.net, there site is fine. I dont think there is any power maintenance going on atm.
576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Deciding whether to use my coins or hoard them... on: January 12, 2013, 08:51:13 AM
I try to keep an even mix of doing both, while gradually growing my bitcoin only buisness. In the end what I'd like to see is not having to deal with euros or dollars at all, but I feel Im not doing my part if I simply hoard coins.
577  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Doesn't the fact that this thing was created by someone who can't be .... on: January 12, 2013, 01:08:02 AM
.... identified bother anybody?

Please don't judge me as a naysayer. In fact the more I read about the bitcoin phenomenon the more I am hooked.. If only I didn't have such large outgoings right now !!

But the biggest thing that sticks in my mind is the fact that Satoshi - the genius that he is - hasn't been truly identified or congratulated for his work so far.

Now obviously we can't compare this to fiats, but every other technical and crypto invention out there can be traced back (although sometimes with a bit of founder-discrepancy) to the inventor .. apart from this.

Any comments ?
If Satoshi had revealed he's identity he would have become a public figure and possibly a political target for the rest of he's life, generally something that the sort of person who develops software would propably be keen on avoiding. I can completeley understand why he/she/they remain anonymous and it does not bother me, the sourcecode has been read by thousands of capable persons and no back door exists.
578  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitmit - Bitcoin shopping mall (Translators wanted) on: January 11, 2013, 09:11:44 PM
for items that have a fixed price where you use bitmit like amazon and not like an auction platform, this would mean an increase in price but how about:
Auction: 5% of initial price for up to 2 months of listings (1, 2, 4, 8 or 16 listings)
Sell now: 0.5% per week of listing

This way both auctions and sales have a good incentive to not spam the site with unnecessary traffic and the buyers with pointless offers.

Thanks for your ideas. But when it comes to this model users should have a chance to list some items for free because many bitcoin newcomers use this site to earn their first coins.

I believe your attitude is correct, gaining volyme can be far more profitable in the long run. You should however look in to other ways of improving your sites income, I for example would be interested in a service which allows a seller to promote ones products, for example you could have a highlighted 5-item window showing up when the site initially loads, thats slots were up for sale. You can even let the market set the price for this visibility, depending on queue lenght. Lets say for example one ad spot runs for 24 hours and the price of a slot can vary depending on the queue length, perhaps starting from as low as one bitcent. Perhaps ad an entire category of promoted items also so that the items promoted this way show up in two categories. I've also seen an auction site sell promotion in the form of highlighted item listing text, bold, red etc..
579  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How tyrannical is Bitmit to sellers? on: January 11, 2013, 02:34:28 PM
The escrow provided by Bitmit is really a very good idea.  It would be great if such a low cost service was offered by ebay or paypal...  Does anyone have experience with it?

I have listed my first item on Bitmit as a trial.  http://www.bitmit.net/en/item/13230-1-oz-silver-maple-leaf-coin

I have had ~20 sales go trough bitmit escrow and I have nothing bad to say so far, apart from the fact that I dont know who is actually holding the money.
580  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How tyrannical is Bitmit to sellers? on: January 10, 2013, 09:24:02 PM
I have nothing to complain so far, havent hit any disputes yet and I most certainly doing anything I can to avoid them in the future.
