561  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Cryptocurrency Considered a ‘Significant Problem’ by US Homeland Security on: November 07, 2019, 08:40:06 AM
Do you honestly think that cryptocurrencies are considered to be a threat to the US Homeland Security? Do you agree about the statements of both US senator Mitt Romney and FBI director Christopher Wray? Is it going to slightly affect the US crypto market in the future?

I would like to hear more about your thoughts and opinions about this topic. Greatly appreciated!

I am not alarmed with this kind of statement and at the most this is a matter for these people of doing their jobs providing possible warning with something that not all people in the government has already understood. We know that there is a possibility that cryptocurrency can be utilized for illegal transactions. People still associate Bitcoin with illicit drug trade, money laundering and even possible terrorism financing though proofs are not coming towards these concerns. However, aside from Bitcoin, there are many alternative coins considered to be private coins where transactions are not recorded in the blockchain and I know these coins can be posing some threats. When these gentlemen are saying a cause of concern categorizing cryptocurrency as a "significant" problem they are talking about the potential that some criminals may use cryptocurrency to bypass the usual financial intermediaries so no tracking can be done. Only time can tell if statements for men like them can have a direct or indirect effect on the long-term viability of cryptocurrency. Rather than me making a foregone conclusion, I am just being vigilant or watchful.
562  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Can I crack a wallet with Satoshi test? on: November 07, 2019, 07:39:03 AM
Yeah if he doesn't provide a signature or a Satoshi test then just walk away...You can't get access to their funds from a Satoshi test based on how it works as much as you can hack them from the address they provide you if it's already had a signed transaction from it as a Satoshi test will do the same.

Satoshi test is meant to provide proof that one has really Bitcoin funds in a certain wallet (Bitcoin ownership). There are some clients who are demanding proof so this is the best way to convince them of the evidence for them to appreciate and trust one another. Satoshi test can never be utilized as a way to hack into a person's wallet because had it been that way then no one will ever be using the test anymore.
563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How we can introduce bitcoin to local people on: November 07, 2019, 06:19:51 AM
One day, I think to myself about how to spreads bitcoin to other people. After I create threads https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5191717.0, I see many of us don't try or don't have time to come into a gathering or make a meetup. So how we can introduce bitcoin to local people in our country if we are not trying to tells them about bitcoin? I know that will related to the regulations in every countries but we can introduce to our close friend so they will spread it into their closest friends too.

There are many ways we can introduce Bitcoin and cryptocurrency to the local scene. However, all activities are commanding for some budget so since we never have some sources of revenues, we are doing things on a volunteer basis and therefore our reach can be limited. Unlike what multinationals with millions of money at their disposal. Being a decentralized network it means that Bitcoin is mostly spread from the word of mouth, mention in the mainstream media and of course our usual social media posts. I am suggesting some ways below we can be of help in the mission of spreading awareness and hopefully adoption of Bitcoin.

1 - We can organize a local talk event (similar to TED) all for introducing the advantages and benefits of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency where the details of the technology and the kind of impact that it can have especially in the future are going to be discussed. This can be called as "The Bitcoin In Focus: Why This is Your Future" for marketing purposes.

2 - We can sponsor local sports and entertainment events where Bitcoin should be at the limelight as the primary sponsor, among others. This can be attracting many people and one must be given a space to talk about Bitcoin and the kind of value it is presenting to the people.

3 - Whenever there is a gathering of our families, friends and neighborhood, we can invite ourselves so we can also be presenting to them close to us why there is that need for them to be a part of the Bitcoin bandwagon and platform.

4 - Youth people who have an inclination towards technology and business can be organized as "Bitcoin Youth Club" where they can talk regularly on cryptocurrency, entrepreneurship and the many new developments in the marketplace.

5 - The many "young once" can also be a good target for Bitcoin since they now have the money and the influence that can help spread the energy and enthusiasm to other people. Seniors will always have a good place in the cryptocurrency movement.

Looking at these suggestions, I myself realized that it must not be really easy promoting something like Bitcoin. And one of the many reasons why up to now we still lack the level of adoption that we need is because we are not actually actively campaigning for Bitcoin and there is no group with some money who can do the thing for us.

564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 3 Concerns You Have For Bitcoin on: November 07, 2019, 04:27:41 AM
What are 3 concerns you have for Bitcoin?

There are a lot of concerns expressed by many people concerning Bitcoin and as expected some can be very valid or they can just worthless or misplaced ones. I would try to express here some of the biggest concerns I have on our most favorite cryptocurrency.

1 - Bitcoin is getting laid-back in the search for more adoption, use and trade all over the world. We need to increase the marketcap of Bitcoin so that slowly manipulations can be neutralized by the market itself. However, since there is no funded organization really working and promoting Bitcoin, the partnerships that Bitcoin really need is coming like a trickle but we need an avalanche.

2 - Bitcoin has not yet fully answered the need for more scalability in the network so that micro-payments can be easily be utilized by Bitcoin holders. This is so far the biggest challenge that many merchants and Bitcoin users are demanding since I can remember. To compete in the expanding payment industry, Bitcoin has to shape up and be responsive, otherwise this big market potential can be lost for good. One must be using Bitcoin without any worry that it can take time to get confirmation in paying a cup of coffee or a can of Pepsi.

3 - Bitcoin's name is always besmirched in the media due to many scams, hacks and unfair criticisms by famous personalities. This is one are where we people could not do much except maybe answering these concerns on the social media. Many people still think of the "Bitcoin scams" when in fact they are referring to scams that accepts Bitcoin in the same that they are also accepting the dollar. Some famous personalities are making a regular habit of spreading false information and impression on Bitcoin.

I am not expecting that soon these concerns can be given direct and indirect solutions but I am sure that as time goes on or maybe years from now we can see the silver lining. As a firm believer in Bitcoin, I see these things as just birth pains or just a toothache in a growing organism that is called as Bitcoin.

565  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China Will not Ban Bitcoin Mining! on: November 07, 2019, 03:39:45 AM

China knows best, indeed. Like a MOTHER looking up what can be good for its child, China now fully realized that it can be a big mistake to let go of an industry that has become very powerful and can be a tool to dominate a very profitable industry. I guess that leaders in China now see that if Bitcoin mining can be helping, in one way or another, its world superpower ambition then it should be retained and even be cajoled. Now, I know that the next question will: Is this a sign that soon Bitcoin is going be welcomed to China? I am crossing my fingers that it can be that way for that Bitcoin recognition, as part of the preparations for the launch of the country's own digital coin. Now, am wondering where is the jump from Bitcoin in reaction to this news?

So the man is giving away $5 and $1 worth of BitcoinCash and that is the ticket he has to land in the news. I am not against giving but to me this can be another waste of time. Roger Ver is the man you have if you think that Bitcoin is the fake one and the real one is on the other side of the fence. I now realized that BitcoinCash must still in the early years of its history since giveaway like this reminds me of the popular faucets back in the 2010-2012 days. I am not a fan and friend of Roger ver and I am not planning to be one.
567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Building a community solving all problems. on: November 07, 2019, 02:27:34 AM
Idea is to create a community which can grow foods in their little spaces as farming technology is escalating is  becoming easy to grow a large amount of food in small space and using hydroponic technology will eliminate the soil element seeing many projects on kickstarter or indiegogo these type of things can be a 10X10 feet decoration piece ( one should be artistic to do that) same goes with a dairy setup or a poultry this things can be done in one backyard without even creating a environment of a farm. Now suppose we have 10 members in a community growing 10 different types of food one can produce grains, other one vegetables and like this 10 different families growing 10 different types of food in their home or backyard. They will be left with excess food with them now here comes the importance of community A blockchain platform where they can list up their food in exchange of cryptocurrency and buy their others need from crypto they earned by listing their food this will create a echo system a community which is growing their own food and being sufficient in a top necessity.

Thanks for taking the time to share your wonderful idea with us. One of the many things I really admire about humanity is that resilient ability of ours in the face of many difficulties and challenges. Certainly, growing our own food requirements within the setting of a community can be like shooting many birds with just one stone. In a stroke of genius, this project alone can be solving many related concerns we are all facing all over the world. Hunger, if course, of paramount challenge as there remains so many people in this world who have nothing to eat at least three times a day. The use of an active and solid small community of people for this very purpose plus the promotion of cryptocurrency can be the catalyst to make this idea really works. Can I ask: Are you planning the use of Bitcoin or any other coin?

One of the many things we should thank for with the government is that it is still doing its job of running after the many crooks now taking up residence in the cryptocurrency industry. All the schemes and scams should be exposed so they can't look for more victims. Sadly, programs like this will continue to be attracting many participants as they are usually appealing to our sense of greed.

Whenever I heard a successful prosecution on the government's side against scammers and fraudsters, I am celebrating inside me because this is the way we can be bringing the justice the victims are clamoring for. And we are sending a strong message to scammers to stop spreading many traps around and go back to where they came from.

The cryptocurrency industry has no reserved space for scammers, hackers and all the evils in between.
569  Economy / Economics / Re: Where's my free money? on: November 06, 2019, 09:30:52 AM
I was promised like 250k by McAfee in BTC value.

When's the price gonna skyrocket like the last 8 times? Tell me plz time travelers.

Lol. Did McAfee call you and made a deal with you? Just like many of the members here promoting all kinds of projects and sites, John McAfee is also just promoting projects that pay right. John McAfee have shilled for many altcoin projects in the past. I don't think he would do that without any amount involved. Did you buy one of the coins that he tweeted? Don't jump into it. His words cannot cause hype anymore.

John McAfee is a man who understands well the kind of influence he is having to people who believe on him but one thing I don't like is that he has a big tendency to be exaggerating things. I am sure this has something to do with him as a good marketer or a communication genius but he should notice that the cryptocurrency marketplace is not made up of innocent and ignorant people -- we are intelligent and capable of using our brains.

John McAffee's name and brand is not getting synonymous with hypes and FUDs. Although I would be really happy if soon one of his predictions can be coming true, we all know the market realities that those are really impossible. I would love to be wrong though but I am sure that I have more than 80% chances of being right. And rather than being admired and loved by the Bitcoin community, he is now listed as a big joker and possibly also hated by many.

570  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Price Manipulation Pushing the price Further Low on: November 06, 2019, 08:45:21 AM
Bitcoin price fluctuations this week has thrown light on the trading of Bitcoin, as BTC trading is supposed to be manipulated by traders. The media, including the famous analyst Willy Woo who pointed to the trend of market manipulation in the midst of deep studies.

I am not an analyst nor a good writer myself but there is something not really good about that piece is written, seems to be very amateurish and this is actually a trend in many crypto-related online publications, there is that glaring lack of professionalism and finesse. Anyway, the topic is all about manipulation but then again there is nothing new or surprising with this. Manipulations have been the bread and butter of many traders and as long as the market is reacting according to their wishes, then so be it. And if manipulations can result into Bitcoin rising, I am all supporting the manipulators as they are working for my own commercial interest as well without me paying them even a cent as a salary. Now, if Bitcoin can be going down because of these manipulators then I will just be cool and relaxed as there is nothing I can do to sop them since they are not under my payroll. In other words, I don't have time to care of what manipulators are doing, let them have their day anytime.
571  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-11-05] Bitcoin Price Hits $11.6K on Argentinian Crypto Exchange on: November 06, 2019, 08:15:53 AM
Quote

People who are interested to acquire Bitcoin in  Argentina have to pay a higher or premium price just to have them all because of the increasing demand caused by the many perennial problems affecting the country's economy. There remains no solid solutions in sight for the myriad challenges faced by this country so we can expect that Bitcoin will be commanding a good price in this region, higher than what other countries are enjoying.

I don't know if I should be sad or happy with this development. I am sad because I know how harsh realities can severely be affecting families all over that country. I belong to a developing country though our national leadership are not as careless as those in Argentina. Maybe I could at the same time be happy because here we can see how Bitcoin can be helping a number of people survive this conflagration affecting them.

So aside from Venezuela and Zimbabwe, Argentina is now also becoming another "poster child" for Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US-Japan cryptocurrency trade volume 1-2-3 in the world on: November 06, 2019, 07:59:19 AM
US-Japan-Korea cryptocurrency trade volume 1-2-3 in the world. The trading volume of the US, Japan and Korea Cryptocurrency Exchange is ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the world. According to The Block, a cryptocurrency market research firm, the volume of major cryptocurrency exchanges in the world as of the first half of 2019 showed that the United States (24.5%), Japan (10%), Korea (6.5%), and Indonesia (4.5%).

So it is still USA which is dominating the cryptocurrency marketplace accounting for a big part of the pie. Even while there are many restrictions in the conduct of cryptocurrency in the USA, still the market is thriving and can be poised for more growth in 2020. I am a little surprised with Indonesia at number four position because I am assuming that the government there is not that so friendly with cryptocurrency. Japan and South Korea are two of the most energetic and active markets for cryptocurrency and these countries are always on the news. What is beautiful with this development is that clearly the market is not one-sided as no country accounts for a majority of the market. The more spread, the better it is for cryptocurrency which boast decentralization as part of its most important themes.
573  Economy / Speculation / Re: Newbie looking for advice on: November 06, 2019, 02:59:54 AM

But after doing some research and thinking a lot im reconsidering to buy a little (like 100-300dollars) and hold it. Maybe selling goods i dont use i can buy a little more..Ive spent some of that crypto in collectibles which maybe i sell here. What do you think people? go all in btc or diversify a little on alts?

The thing is that many of the top altcoins are getting their direction and power from Bitcoin. There is no point in diversifying if these other assets are not actually detached from Bitcoin movements. However, if there is really a need to also get some alts, then getting Ethereum and XRP should suffice. You should, however, be focusing a lot on Bitcoin as this is the digital asset poised to achieve a good rate of ROI in the coming months. I also like your idea of selling the stuffs you don't already need and maybe even start a little eCommerce operation of your own, accepting cryptocurrencies for payments. Sadly, I still have to find a good and reliable gigs platform where we can perform tasks in exchange for Bitcoin, just like the Fiverr site. Yeah, there are many sites like that but most do not have a good number of users.
574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coca cola bottlers use Blockchain on: November 06, 2019, 02:31:02 AM

Coca Cola bottles use blockchain technology to manage their cross-party transactions. Coke One North America (CONA) - a technology company that manages IT operations for bottling soda coca cola - uses blockchain technology developed by the German software company SAP to manage its supply chain. CONA was assigned to manage a platform as a watchdog for several franchises that produce, ship bottles, and ship 160,000 orders for Coca-Cola products every day. Yes, everything will be faster and easier for calculations and transactions if it uses a blockchain. More transparent and efficient.

This is already a proven fact: Blockchain technology can enhance and greatly improve the supply chain management of any company or business. Good to see that even a Coca-Cola business is now utilizing the blockchain technology for the same purpose. Just one of the many good and successful stories of how the blockchain technology can be adopted and modified to suit a business' situation and need. And we should not be wondering why China's President Xi Jinping specifically ordered the exploration and wide acceptance of this technology across many industries in that country. So from now on every time we are drinking Coke, know for sure that it comes to your hands while using the benefits of the blockchain technology. But where is Bitcoin? Ahh, the one holding the coke must be using his Bitcoin to pay the drink, using the LN network.
575  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: British Tax Authority Updates Cryptocurrency Guidelines, Says It Is Not Money on: November 06, 2019, 02:01:38 AM
The United Kingdom’s tax, payments and customs authority, Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), has updated its cryptocurrency taxation guidelines for businesses and individuals. On Nov. 1, the U.K. government tax agency, which manages taxes alongside other financial policies, released tax guidance updates that further clarify its stance on how businesses and individuals involved with cryptocurrency will be taxed.

We should be happy with this latest updates on the taxation system implemented by the UK government comprehensively covering many areas related to cryptocurrency. At least, people of Britain now has a clear view on what to do and how tax can be calculated from hereon. Updates like this should be considered as milestones in the continuing history and adoption of cryptocurrency all over the world.

One of the many good things about getting recognized by the tax agency is that the asset is hereon considered to be legal. Just like the stance of the US government, cryptocurrency is still not considered as money in the UK but that is not very critical for now. Money or not, we know that when merchants are accepting Bitcoin the function is the same.
576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and philantropy on: November 06, 2019, 01:27:29 AM

When we're talking about cryptocurrency, we don’t usually discuss philanthropy — donating to charity isn’t something often considered. Most of the talks are all about earning, mining and trading crypto. What's your opinion about Bitcoin donations? Did you ever donate your crypto to charity organizations? Why?

Philanthropic organizations are now starting to accept Bitcoin and many other cryptocurrencies which they can use to support many ongoing and future projects that are supposedly working for the benefits of the people who are needy. However, I am quite careful in selecting my charitable organization because many of them are spending the money more on the operations and their salaries rather than on the programs. This is an article warning us of some bad charities who are not doing as they should be.

To make things fair, in any industry, there would always be good and good players, as long as we are all humans this can just be another natural phenomenon. I am sharing here with you, a list of some charities already accepting Bitcoin from donors: http://bitcoinforcharity.com/bitcoin-charity-list/.

A good indication of the big potential between cryptocurrency and charitable/development work is the recent announcement coming from the UNICEF. The UN children’s agency, Unicef, has announced it is accepting and disbursing donations through cryptocurrencies ether and bitcoin.

Should we now encourage all Bitcoin and cryptocurrency millionaires to allot a portion of what they are earning from this industry for charitable and developmental programs?
577  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would an Economy based on BTC look like? on: November 06, 2019, 12:33:11 AM
Just as the title states. How do you guys think  a country with its only economy being BTC look like? Would it look like how western countries are of today, some Cyberpunk future, or maybe just completely mess up? Honestly, I think it'd look something like the current state of western countries, as if the only currency allowed is BTC, then in theory it should always balance out and be flexible.

I would say that there is an ongoing debate on this and this question would go on because up to now we could not find a good model of a country that already adopted Bitcoin as the official national currency in replacement of its fiat or paper money. We who are supporters of Bitcoin has this tendency to think that Bitcoin can be working for and in all situations but frankly speaking we really do not know what can happen to an economy that is solely adopting Bitcoin as the national money. And since nobody is volunteering, we will always be thinking of what can be, will it be helping or will just make things much worse?

Now, in the first place, will it be a good idea? Or maybe the complexity and variations within the economy can make things really difficult if a country is going to do this? You see, I am answering here with a lot more questions and this is the nature of something that is not yet tried. And i would not even dare suggest that an economy will do this. Maybe we can start with an experimental island where the only money accepted is that of Bitocin so we can see the very dynamics of the economy under a microcosm before we can say that there is a possibility of it working in a bigger scale.
578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2019-10-05] 55 billion token burn sends Stellar Lumens (XLM) price soaring on: November 06, 2019, 12:04:16 AM

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Is SDF doing this because they truly don't feel they need so many XLM or are they doing
it to drive up prices?

The people behind Stellar Lumens finally realized that having spectacular many billions of coin supply is not helping the platform in any way. Driving up the price is, of course, part of the many reasons why they burned more than half of the available coins. Still, 50 billion coins remains a lot but already at a manageable and growth stage level. I am hoping that the Stellar Lumens team would be active in gaining partnerships with other organizations that can be helping it gain more exposure and adoption.

Stellar Lumens has a good potential to be changing the face of the remittance and micro-payment sectors.  Stellar is primarily a distributed payments network that is meant to provide a fast, secure and inexpensive cross-border payments solution. It can also be used to issue your own tokens, and as an ICO platform is considerably easier to use when compared with Ethereum. I know they can compete well with its direct competitors in the cryptocurrency industry.
579  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: is this news can affect to BNT price? on: November 05, 2019, 08:42:29 AM
in december 2019, bancor will be airdrop to all BNT holder, total value is equivalent to 10% BNT’s market cap at the time of the snapshot.

So, is this news can affect to BNT price? beside the news above, currently the BNT price is -93% from ATH. what do you think?

Wow, losing as much 93% value from the ATH level is really something to ponder about, had this happened with other investment vehicle like stocks then it would already be a major, major catastrophe. Now, the good news is that this is also happening with other tokens or coins in this industry so this has become a normal phenomenon.

Now, will the scheduled airdrops push the value to go up or to go down? Based on my experience as a bounty hunter, there is a bigger chance that it will further make the value of BNT go deep. Most of the airdrop recipients will just convert what they got into Bitcoin or other top alts and therefore there will be a higher sell demand for the token. Not unless these recipients are required to hold BNT for sometime before they can dispose of them, maybe that can be helping a lot.

Bancor is actually one of the platforms that I admire and I am hoping that the people behind it are working day and night making it one of the top players in this industry.
580  Economy / Speculation / Re: Btc to the moon soon? on: November 05, 2019, 07:22:23 AM
What do you think?

You know what, people these days in the cryptocurrency industry are not fond anymore of saying "to the moon" after many of them got burned in the 2017 ATH and the subsequent debacle. However, that should not deter us from dreaming, wishing and hoping that come 2020 the price of Bitcoin will be going beyond the $20K already achieved in the past. Will there be a great energy in Bitcoin to make it to the moon and even beyond into the shining stars out there? All I can say is that: I hope so. And if there is really a coin that can do it, it must be Bitcoin and no other.

Hope not. Then government will pay Branson, Bezos and Musk to not fly there, and our beloved Bitcoin will be lost.
Cool

You made me laugh, I am sure these people would be glad to escort Bitcoin to a new territory in the moon so they can colonize that part for future human settlement. Bitcoin then has the potential to be a universe cryptocurrency, not just for the people in this Earth. To the moon...and beyond here we come!
