In my point of view, scarcity in itself is not enough to make something very valuable. There are many things which are scare but have no value at all because their use and demand had not been established. Usually, scarcity comes into play and can make something very valuable if there are people (especially a big number of people) who got the desire to own that something. In the past, there are many things that were valuable but those got no value today...and of course vice versa. As to Bitcoin, it is a confluence of scarcity and demand and in case the demand for this cryptocurrency will wither then its value no matter how scarce it is will also plummet.

I can understand your frustrations with those failed transactions and the fact is that in our modern and high-tech world a similar situation can still be happening right now to many people. Yes, our technologies right now can never guarantee a smooth-sailing experience all because there are some variables involved that can be beyond our control. This is why cryptocurrency can be or should be one of the best options that anyone should enjoy. Of course, as I said when it comes to human invention there is nothing perfect but at least with cryptocurrency this is a long jump ahead of the game. This scenario is the reason why business firms, merchants and those in eCommerce should look at how they can be a part of the crypto bandwagon either by establishing their own infrastructure or get a service provider that is reliable.

In other words, nothing (people, government or just anybody) can be able to touch your Bitcoin because the owner of it is the only one who has the necessary details (like private keys or passwords) on its use, transfer or spending. However, we should not oversimplify the power of the government on this matter as they still can make things definitely difficult for Bitcoin holders -- for example if there is no approved crypto exchange within your country it can be discouraging to hold some.

The government has the mandate to do its job in minimizing the trade of drugs whether these people are using the fiat money or cryptocurrency. I think it should be clear by now that using Bitcoin does not mean that the transaction is anonymous and not traceable because they are all contain in the ledger. In fact, there are many cases already proven in court that illegal drug dealers were caught all because they use Bitcoin in the transaction. So in a way, it is Bitcoin that is helping the government in the fight against the illicit drugs. Personally, I do not strongly believe that decriminalization of illegal drugs is the best option on this war because that is tantamount to surrendering the whole cause. The war on drugs should never have any deadline and it should not be treated as a temporary thing...it has to go on forever.

Bitcoin is the future of finance for people who are believing on it like John McAfee and company  a bubble for people who are not convinced just like Warren Buffet or worse form of a disruptor for some people in the government. Bitcoin is supposed to be generating this kind of opposing views and reactions just because this is a major disruption, otherwise it will just be another flash-in-the-pan and impotent bringer of change. What is happening right now is just it should be doing and it is beginning to get the strong reaction from forces in the government and financial institutions. No matter what, the blockchain technology and the bitcoin cryptocurrency are here to stay and so many governments are already recognizing this fact and so instead of attacking it the best they are doing is regulating its trading and use (and of course, taxing the transactions and income people generated from it).

The City of Richmond Hill in the Greater Toronto Area is making a good decision to recognize that soon we are going to be on the digital and they are one of the pioneers with this coming boom. I am sure that there can be more places that will allow third-party intermediaries (like Coinberry) to accept payments of taxes using Bitcoin and hopefully other cryptocurrencies as well. Of course, we should not expect for the government unit to be directly accepting Bitcoin as that can be a big hassle and risky considering that Bitcoin is volatile but this does not negate the fact that the taxpayer can now use his/her Bitcoin to settle the dues. And that is as good as the sweet cake for me.

We live in a world of diversity and many times world leaders and governments can have opposing views on many things. Exercising their own sovereign power, we can always expect different takes on Bitcoin, the blockchain and the rest of the cryptocurrency market. However, it should be noted that we should appreciate the fact that world leaders and governments are now talking about this topic as this can be the start of a greater awareness that can many years from now lead to a greater adoption by more and more people. We should have the patience and tenacity of the hackers in waiting for that dreamed massive adoption to happen as nothing can be overnight here. Let's prefer to see the silver lining as that can eventually be coming despite the many bumps on the road.

This kind of concern and reaction should be expected and if Bitcoin failed to generate this kind of response then it must be a total failure. Bitcoin is supposed to be one of the biggest disruptor especially in the world of finance and money so it is just natural for the key keepers in the government to be looking at it with some suspicion. Now, it should be noted that Bitcoin is actually just young and that these government officials need more time to absorb Bitcoin into their system. Given enough time, they will realize the beauty of Bitcoin and the US government can even use this tool to extend its dominance in international finance -- which is not waning, by the way, as the US Dollar is gradually losing steam and attractiveness as the global reserve currency.

"Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says the U.S. will police cryptocurrencies with 'very, very strong' regulations." Of course, everything boils down to regulation. And I am hoping that soon the US government will look to Japan as the model on how to regulate Bitcoin and the rest of the cryptocurrency market so that with clear-cut regulations the industry can also wipe out many scams affecting it.

This is now the kind of future that cryptocurrency is holding as the best secret to its longevity and massive adoption. Bitcoin, for sure, will be the top cryptocurrency that the younger generations will be choosing. When these young people will be enjoying bigger purchasing power, many of them will be turning to Bitcoin as an alternative investment tool which in turn can drive the price of the digital gold into stratosphere. The future is indeed looking good for Bitcoin and even the rest of the cryptocurrency market (sans the man scams still going around).

Tim Draper is one of the famous Bitcoin bullish believers and though sometimes his predictions as to the price of the coin in the future can be outlandish still he has my respect as one of the most known movers of the whole cryptocurrency industry. I think as far as Libra is concerned, we have the same stand. Although we are always open for innovations, Libra has to face many many concerns principally because it is centralized and many people do not trust Facebook anymore. I am sure though eventually Libra can be given the go signal but not maybe before modifying many aspects of the project.
