581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 14, 2014, 06:11:22 PM
IMO BlackCoin could be serious threat to DarkCoin. As a community we should take it seriously:

1. If BC implement DarkSend, DRK could be doomed
2. BC multipool is going to use X11 (this is already happening, it is just a matter of days)
3. I think that more "average Joe" kind of people will consider DarkCoin just a copy of BC because they will firstly hear about blackcoin, which is a big hype nowdays, and they have great  marketing(Apple is big copy-cat, but people find it innovative ).

Pumps (and dumps) happen in altcoin-land all the time. Stop panicking. And if BC tried to mine DRK, they wouldn't impact price much. The more hashes they contribute, the fewer total coins there will be per day.

Expanded the rich list with a new "vanity" feature for the block explorer at http://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/ :

All addresses with a non-zero amount are now ranked, so you can see where you stand far beyond the TOP 100!  Grin

(keep in mind this is for individual addresses, not wallets, so secondary and change addresses are not accounted for)
I used to have 1.22% of all DRK coins like 2 weeks ago, then 1.21%, now 1.2%. Are new coins being mined that quickly? It's worrying me a bit.

After all those heavy arguments of "no big holders left", "all of the initially mined coins got redistributed by now" and "no single hands control hundreds of thousand coins", you just quietly place this replay here, saying you have 1.2% share of all DRK? LOL. Grin

Even on this thread we had one investor that said he put in 30k USD and another who said he put in 20k USD. At current prices, that's enough to buy up ~1% of all DRK in existence.
583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BCN, not BTE] Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity) + Giveaway on: April 14, 2014, 04:42:38 PM
What's the current block reward? I finally have a non-zero balance. It's about 153k BCN and I don't know if I got it because my solo miner finally succeeded or if I got a handout from DStrange's giveaway. Cheesy

You have 1 in every 100 of a coin and you're complaining? Tongue

I'd be more worried if individual states weren't decreasing. Cryptos have no underlying assets - it's just an exchange medium. And an exchange medium is no good unless it's pretty well distributed.
585  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][?] A new coin based on CryptoNote technology (BCN fork) on: April 14, 2014, 01:58:11 PM
Hey thankful, any update on this?

By the way, I agree with x0rcist that maybe you could just block time to change after a certain block height. 1 minute in the solo mining phase (~1 month) and 2-2.5 minutes afterwards.

This blackcoin pump is too much im so pissed lol. I had 50k blackcoins and sold them at hardly anything for more darks. Would have had about 30 btcs profit by now xD

I've been watching that with envy also.  Maybe that PR article that THEY wrote a few days ago worked? lol

Either way, DRK will have it's time!!
Nah, I don't think anyone that actually knows how to use a crypto exchange gets their news from PR releases. More likely, it's a positive feedback loop that started because their was some movement in the market capitalization ranking. Sort of like AUR, which was able to "cheat" due to the premine. Anyway, it all goes bust eventually.
587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BCN, not BTE] Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity) + Giveaway on: April 13, 2014, 07:29:58 PM

Why dont you try minergate bcn pool? I have been mining there for two days already with 4 h/s and I have mined 75k bcn

Because it could turn my computer into a paperweight or perhaps infect it with something to steal wallets. They refuse to release the source code so it's just an executable posted on a forum that one has to trust. I've been on the internet too long to do that. Tongue

It's a little paranoid don't you think? Antiviruses are meant for something imo ^^

On the other hand, what can be the reason behind not releasing src code.
That's exactly it. Not releasing source code is fishy. I don't have anything particularly important on my mining PC so I could always wipe it if it becomes infected. But for the sake of maintaining discipline, I won't use stuff like this. Poor practices eventually lead to messing up and screwing yourself some time in the future.

1 block per 35 hours.
2 days without finding block is normal. Just go on mining.

Thanks. I didn't know how to calculate the mining rewards.

You can give linux a try. Simply setup virtual machine with ubuntu (VirtualBox) on your windows and follow the instructions from the how-to thread. Smiley

I don't think OS should make a difference unless the linux daemon yields more hashes/s. Did anyone test that?
589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 13, 2014, 01:12:10 PM
2 weeks ago price was 89 cents

now  53 cents.

thats some %40 drop in value.

and you know what.

total value of coins decreased from 88 million to 22 million.

thats 1/4 th.

mining profitability is bad. almost on par with hirocoin (which is dying quickly with diff down to 49 from 189 last week)

darkcoin hash rate down to 12m from 19m last week. (30% drop)

these are hardcore facts with numbers.

2 weeks ago BTC was also much higher. Let's all abandon BTC, guys. The 'hardcore facts' say so.

thankful for today -

I would be thankful if you stopped creating shitcoins. Thanks!
"fudbuster" - a one day-old account going around calling everything "shitcoin".

Do you even understand what this coin is? Probably not - I'm betting you're a teenager based on the depth of these posts.
591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Poll] What anonymous coin will succed? on: April 12, 2014, 10:18:46 PM
Interesting ones:

1. DarkCoin: Has a function beta after 3 months, being actively tested as we speak. Based on randomly selected masternodes that have the necessary incentives to behave and can't do any damage even if they don't. Looks promising.
2. ByteCoin: Very mysterious, to say the least. If the ring signatures are functioning as intended with no exploits, that's a huge step. I'm trying to mine it, but not getting any coins since I have to solo. Tongue

Questionable ones:

1. Anoncoin: Has been around for almost a year and has nothing to show for it. That's some remarkable incompetence, unless I've misunderstood the coin's intention (I2P by itself is nothing). It now seems to be hoping to free ride on Zerocoin's code.
2. Fedoracoin: Centralized mixing? Already exists for BTC. Blockchain.info charges for it, but DarkWallet just came out to do it for free. Pretty irrelevant anyway, since it requires trust.
592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BCN, not BTE] Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity) + Giveaway on: April 12, 2014, 08:09:10 PM
Well, this is depressing. Still 0 BCN after solo mining for 2 days. I refuse to use that minergate thing until the source code is released. Sad

What CPU and OS are you using for mining?

Windows, i7-2600K stock (about 5.7 hashes per second).

I prefer the black and white version. It's DRKer. Tongue
594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 12, 2014, 05:03:18 PM
So it's safe to say BC is like a good coin for long term holding yes? Just whenever we got spare btc just buy more BC yes correct? This would be the wisest decision..

I am 60% BC and 40% FAC.

If things keep up like this im gonna be sitting on over 100 bitcoins soon.  Cool

FAC THAT!!!! OR maybe you meant fap coin? There is only one coin worth buying in Crypto and Blackcoin is that coin. Bitcoin better watch out because here we come!!!! Multipool growing!

YEah what the FAC? Promote that shit somewhere else
+1 hahah anyone in an alt admit it! Blackcoin in NOT an alt anymore! Its the new BTC. This is not a pump. This coin has a pool supporting it and it has a limited supply. My mom just bought some. My friends just bought BC. Nobody is going to sell this. Its buy or die baby!! There may be dumps but i wouldnt risk it. I'm in the top 50 and im not dumping. Other whales listen to my words here. I'm not dumping I would not even risk my money getting eating alive. Let some other whale risk it!! Lets see 10 dollars then we can revisit the subject! Lets see this blast off. Waiting for 2 months for this. So exciting.

Hate to break it to you but this sort of thing happens in crypto all the time. Tongue VTC went to $10 and back to $1 all in a matter of weeks. And it's technologically more interesting than other scrypt coins. Or take DOGE, which had more mainstream publicity than just about anything since. Up to 280 satoshi and now 100 sat.

There sure are an increasing number of GWs nowadays. I've been seeing NGW and just now saw VGW. lol Evan started a trend with DGW.

Person with the 112 BTC buy wall on Cryptsy: wouldn't you feel better if you moved that to, say, 0.003? Grin

First decent looking country coin. Good, DRK is too hard to mine now but I refuse to leave X11. Tongue

How much hash would you get mining dark with 1MH normal scrypt?

About 3 MH/s.
600  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: April 10, 2014, 04:46:50 PM
I know the price of BTC right now is the major the biggest influence on perceived Darkcoin price, DRK in relation to BTC has stayed solid as hell, but It still hurts my soul to see it low like this. Coins was saying 250$/DRk or something? I think a 10 to 25$ Dark would be amazing already after everything is out of beta and the year ends.

Yeah, this is painful to watch. I'm hoping the beta ends soon and it sounds like it will. Evan said in the beta v6 post that the next step is forking the mainnet and begin paying the masternodes. That's more or less the end of the beta since everyone will be able to DarkSend.
