Can someone tell me what is the usual darkcoin power usage compared to scrypt? Lower, higher? I need a specific value for the hashrate you get. Best would be for udnervolted 280x or 290.

I am trying to add darkcoin to my site and need this data.

People often quote 30% decreased electricity usage, I haven't tested this personally so I can't vouch for that number.

I have 280x and 290 (not undervolted) and I get

2.29 Mhash for 280x
2.55 Mhash for 290

Also temps are ~10-15C cooler, which helps the stability bigtime.

Here is a table with other user's numbers: https://docs.zoho.com/sheet/published.do?rid=12cbm2fe8ce55abb2476daa0f8c576b442d40&mode=html

Or somebody wants you to think that...
I would usually bet that it's a fake wall to make you buy from the very same person who fakes the buy order but doesn't really plan on buying any more

The problem is you can't fake a 112BTC buy wall on cryptsy (at least there is no evidence that you can).  If you place a buy order you are risking that it get filled in one trade.  There is no way (unless you have inside access to cryptsy servers) to withdraw a buy order between the time that someone tries to sell to the order and the time that the order completes.

This exact scenario was the subject of a recent 60 minutes episode, and book "flash boys".  The book describes how high frequency traders were able to place huge buy walls, then intercept incoming large sell orders milliseconds before they hit the exchange. By moving the buy wall back a fraction of a second before the sell order arrived at the exchange they were able to make billions of USD.  They were only able to do this though with hundreds of millions of dollars invested into infrastructure in/around NYC.

Ultimately only someone with inside access to the Cryptsy servers would be able to set up fake buy walls in this manner, and there is no evidence that this has ever happened.

Some people tested it and went with 40-50% less electricity consumption like 100 pages ago.

I have a question for Evan / whoever: Does running a masternode consume the available pool of pre-generated 100 addresses, necessitating regular backups of the masternode's wallet?

Hi, I don`t have a killawatt but on my electricity counter on scrypt mining with 4x 280x gpus stock voltage, I had the consumption of 1,5KW, now at mining DRK with 4 gpus + cpu i5 have 0,9KW.....  this gets ~40% less considering that I use CPU as well....

Yes. In this form, it's more like a gable than an investment. If things go wild, usually the player with the highest amount of coins wins the round.

Ultimately only someone with inside access to the Cryptsy servers would be able to set up fake buy walls in this manner, and there is no evidence that this has ever happened.

So it covers basically anybody who works there (rogue) + Cryptsy itself (organized).
It's not much but still >0 chance.

I have a question for Evan / whoever: Does running a masternode consume the available pool of pre-generated 100 addresses, necessitating regular backups of the masternode's wallet?

I asked this question and Evan's answer was NO. Darksend doesn't move your coins, and thus it doesn't generate change addresses, so no need to frequently back up your wallet.dat if you don't move coins on your own.

Hi everyone (waves) missing you all!  LOL

I've currently got a small buy order for DRK on Prelude. Has anyone used the USD/DRK or USD/BTC features yet? I was considering using it to buy but I'm a little unsure if it's available yet.

I tried logging in, but it didn't work, then tried changing my password, and it still didn't work.  They could find my email, to send change password message, but tried it twice and I couldn't log on.  I made my account when they first announced, but I just can't get back in Sad

I have a question for Evan / whoever: Does running a masternode consume the available pool of pre-generated 100 addresses, necessitating regular backups of the masternode's wallet?

I am not sure where I read it, but I remember Evan saying no, it does not.

The problem is that darkcoind won't save more than a few hundreds of keys into the wallet.dat, no matter how big keypool I ask for (it does generate all the 10000 or more keys into the thin air but saves only ~500 initially and only ~200 new after it flushes those original 500 unencrypted keys when you later encrypt the file) and I figure DarkSend will eat the keys from the keypool like a crazy addict, and thus you will either need to periodically input your password on the online server (risking your coins if somebody hacked it, even more if you do it automatically and thus you keep the password on the online machine) or copy the wallet.dat to a flash drive, refill it's keypool on an offline computer and copy it back (while your masternode is offline).

Masternodes will never use any new addresses in the keypool, unless you send funds from the node itself. They're simply the center point that all users will connect to for mixing at a specific moment in time.

Other than that, great guide.

In my case, it turned out I had to manually press the "Check for Deposits" button to make it update my balance. I didn't notice that before the support guy emailed me. Tongue
I can't see why they can't automatically check it once in a while.

I can't help but notice the huge pump going on over at blackcoin  www.coinmarketcap.com

The only thing different about this coin is it is POS with a multipool that mines SHA256 or Scrypt and pays out in black. Surely there is someone around here that could pull a DRK multipool?

...

To address the concern about volume of posts on logo stuff in this thread, may I make a suggestion:

We move all logo/branding discussion to darkcointalk.org, as a self-enforced policy.

Yay/nay?

Yay.

I have been frequenting the forums and posting. I posted a CPU mining guide in the mining section. Yes, CPU mining is still viable and I have the calculations to back that up.

I made a good amount on BC, but I sold a little early I guess. I still more than doubled the money I put in.
