daily bump
5882  Other / Off-topic / Re: Cash withdrawal limits and reduced hours coming to US banks within 60 days. on: March 23, 2013, 07:47:06 AM
This article is kind of stupid. I guess people don't realize that there already is a limit to the amount of cash you can withdraw. The daily limit from the ATM is $300 for me. I don't know what the limit is if you walk up to a teller, but I'm sure there must be one. The bank only holds so much cash.

The article said nothing about restrictions on writing checks, using a debit card, or transferring funds. Anyway, who uses cash any more?

This article is based on the myth that money deposited in an account at a bank is stored as cash in the bank's vault, which of course is completely false.
What account do you have where the daily limit is $300??
5883  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Compensating miners on the wrong side of The Big Fork on: March 23, 2013, 07:32:55 AM
This would be a bigger issue if gavin used the funds for an Avalon unit or something instead of distributing it to miners.

Anyone help me?

Hi Everyone,

Based on my investigation on the sample email accounts that some of you have provided, there is a clear indication of hacking/hijacking activity on the accounts. I strongly recommend that you change your password at once. Please refer to the article below for more information.

My Hotmail account has been hacked

I would like to send my appreciation to all the members who recommended solutions and provided information to resolve this issue.

Quite the action with today's share sales, any reasons why?
Someone sold ~300 shares in 5 minutes, look in the trade history

Is profitability really unpredictable? What is the upper bound of network hashing power and the latest date to break even?

The latest date to break even will always be never, though that's unlikely here. ASICMiner's latest update suggested their goal is to deploy 50Th next month. Avalon's 2nd batch will add another 40-50Th, and there's always the outside chance BFL will finally get something out the door. I'm leaning toward a small order to keep up with network growth.
Don't forget about batch 3.

And you answered in nearly the exact same way I did...goes to show that for people that look into it they know what the truth is.

Gee whiz, I wonder why your other account answers things exactly the way you do. Fascinating topic of research this, what could the cause be?!

I'm wondering if in all your posts you have ever had an intelligent comment. It seems all you can do is abuse others. Were you the class bully in school...probably more likely you are still in school and the class bully.

I've had plenty of intelligent things to say. The problem here is that you're an idiot, and a defensive one at that, the sort that thinks redefining intelligence to mean agreement has even a vague chance of sticking. You're not the only idiot of that sort, but you are too late to this party. Your kind got purged & scoured all through last year.

Ok, you have just proved you are the dumbest person in this forum if you think Merry and I are the same person. Just goes to show you make no effort to even try to find out the truth.
Heh, "dumbest person in this forum" goes to you.

My vote would go towards getting an Avalon batch #3 order in. It seems appropriate to grow with the network using the best  and most cost effective tech available at any given time.
I don't recommend this given the outrageously high price and the unpredictability of profitability depending on BFL / ASICMINER's deployment.

I'm not sure how much Avalon/BFL will add to the network, but ASICMINER claims to deploy 50 TH in April. Given that bASIC-MINING doesn't have any units to trade in, they'd be in the back of the queue and who knows when they'll actually receive a batch 3 unit.

How long does the return on your bet take?
A confirm

And someone hit lessthan1 again.
5891  Economy / Securities / Re: S.DICE - SatoshiDICE 100% Dividend-Paying Asset on MPEx on: March 22, 2013, 10:52:21 PM
So someone won "lessthan 1" again.  Only the min bet this time, 0.01 BTC -> 640 BTC.  But that pretty much finishes off the profits for the month.

And SDICE might have a loss requiring a carryover.
5892  Economy / Gambling / Re: GBBG Bitcoin Fund on: March 22, 2013, 12:47:35 PM
I was just in the member area and down the bottom corner I found this

GBBG Fund
NAV/Share

0.26124492 BTC
$18.55 USD

Remember each share costs 0.25 BTC
I spose just because I didn't know about NAV, doesn't mean GBBG didn't.

It is down in the footer which I don't normally look that far down so others may have missed it as well. Not sure how long it has been there.
Oh how convenient! Cheesy

And is entirely made up, because most of the 0.25 BTC goes to pay affiliates anyway.

Really, you must be talking about some other program because NONE of the 0.25 goes to pay affiliates.

Just goes to show how your mind works. In a ponzi it probably would but that is all you can think of. This is a fund, there are no commissions to anyone, GBBG charge 2% on shares purchased, 0% on Shares sold.

Then why do people have referral links Smiley

5897  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitBillions New on: March 22, 2013, 10:08:24 AM
BitBillions could become a multi million dollar company providing services free to millions of people and you guys would still be calling it a scam.

The question was raised what is the attraction of this as compared to the other free applications like skype etc. Well the idea was that people using free services would also be able to earn. It is a bit funny how in here you all are happy about how bitcoins is rising because it means your holdings increase in value, but you don't think a business that can help you earn bitcoins is worth giving a chance.

I wish I had a time machine and could take you forward a few months, even a year. Bitbillions will still be around despite the skeptism of the people here. I don't know why you guys feel it necessary to shoot down every comment made. You have the right to your opinion but the way you portray it shows absolutely no sign of forward thinking or open mindedness.
Considering how globalvillage knew that BitBillions is nothing other than an AM scam, would you like to bet on this outcome 1:1? You mentioned "even a year", so let's make it a year.
5898  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Want to sell Bitcoins? Get PayPal USD. Spot price, no commission! on: March 22, 2013, 09:31:17 AM
Bump again.
5899  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is the 21 million bitcoin limit unchangeable? on: March 22, 2013, 08:55:25 AM
My view is that the association is silly.  The max_blocksize rule was added by Satoshi after the system was already running, in order to remove an attack vector via spamming of the transaction queue, until such time as a more elegant solution could be found.

That's not quite true. Version 1.0 didn't have a 1MB limit, but instead used the same 0x2000000 byte, or 32MiB limit, used for any serialized data. Satoshi later added MAX_BLOCK_SIZE so that miners wouldn't create blocks bigger than 1MB, but larger was still accepted.

Finally the hard limit was reduced by Satoshi to 1MB in commit 172f006020965ae8763a0610845c051ed1e3b522 The commit comment is deliberately misleading: "only accept transactions sent by IP address if -allowreceivebyip is specified"
Deliberately?
