BFL you should be ashamed of your quality of service and timing. You had 3 months advance on AVALON and millions more in customer funds to get the job done.

Fail you fail so hard! LOL!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

6802  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Gold - the gold bar that always goes up! And get the script for free on: January 31, 2013, 07:44:46 AM
The new behavior for invalid payout addresses are your payout will be skipped instead of it taking down the site. PM me if you entered an improper / wrong address.

Thanks.
6803  Economy / Marketplace / Bitcoin Gold may be for sale! (Site will inherit everything :) on: January 31, 2013, 07:25:20 AM
Bitcoin Gold, the only site of it's kind (after bitcoin gem shot itself in the foot by making them essentially satoshiDICE) may be for sale!

You will be able to earn significant amounts in fees depending on how high the top gem price is (it can easily be in the hundreds of BTCs, possibly thousands - there's a lot of high rollers in the bitcoin world), and you inherit the database / the bitcoin gold brand.

PM me your offers.

S.DICE dividends will probably be higher this month thanks to my 100+ BTC loss  Tongue

Given the flurry of events that have transpired in the last few hours and the detailed(& favorable) information provided by Jeff Garzik about the Avalon unit he received I'm re-evaluating the possibility of placing an order for batch 2 unit(s). As there's not enough time for a motion to pass with majority shareholder approval, I'd like to hear some alternative perspectives from shareholders to aid me in my decision.

I've spoken to several shareholders privately about ASIC vendor choices and Avalon specifically so I have an idea how some will view this decision, but I'd like to hear more in the brief time allowed us before their order window closes.

I'm a shareholder from time to time Smiley

I'd advise being cautious with Avalon - their desperation for fast cash suggests they're having some serious issues.  Whilst it's obviously not a scam as such, I'd want to see more than a few of them arrived before assuming they're actually in a position to guarantee a steady stream of them.

It may just be as simple as they wanted to pretend to meet their shipping date - and only had a few actually ready by then but pretended they were ready to start shipping whole-sale.  Or it could be far worse - e.g. serious yield issues meaning they need cash to run another batch of chips off just to meet batch 1 commitments.

Something still smells very wrong with it - but it could be nothing more than bad PR/communications combined with stretching the truth on the state of their assembly line.
Right, but is that any worse than Butterfly labs?
6806  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Gold - the gold bar that always goes up! And get the script for free on: January 31, 2013, 03:04:21 AM
I did the site in a couple of hours, would have being faster if I didn't encounter problems with Blockchain.info (returning an empty transaction list for example).

I see that Bitcoin Gem has relaunched. It's now a completely -EV game for Bitcoin Gem. With bitcoin gold, it will never reset. There's just one gold bar. You can speculate yourself and see if the profit is worth the risk.

It's like trading on the stock market versus gambling in a casino. Both things have risks, but gambling in a casino is always -EV Smiley
6807  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 Ships on: January 31, 2013, 12:57:15 AM
FYI: If you buy the second batch, you're not really going to break even IF butterfly labs ships before / around the same time. Now, if Butterfly Labs never shipped or shipped in June or so, then the difficulty from soley Avalon ASICs would be still profitable
6808  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Women in Bitcoin - linuxchix? bitcoinchix? on: January 31, 2013, 12:44:43 AM
1. "Linuxchix"? Are you serious ..

Quote
We are talking about women just like men who are interested in the technology
Awesome! And gender matters how?

Being female doesn't change anything about writing code or being involved in bitcoin. If you want a more diverse group of people, you don't separate them, you let everyone join in and be a big community instead of "Women in Bitcoin", "African Americans in Bitcoin", "Buddhists in Bitcoin", etc.

Assume you're a man. You can hop into irc, get involved in the community, contribute a pull request, or start a bitcoin business.

Assume you're a woman. "Are you really a girl? You're probably a scammer" (no, seriously, look in the MPOE-PR scammer accusations thread). "Go back to the kitchen". Stalkers looking for your address.

So please explain to me how segregating gender apart even more will help. You shouldn't give a single shit what someone's gender is, what race they are, what religion they follow, or if they like ponies or frogs.
6809  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 Ships on: January 31, 2013, 12:35:45 AM

Prolly about $350 per module.
6810  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon ASIC] Batch #2 pre-Sale Thread on: January 30, 2013, 11:46:19 PM
So... if WalletBit is the processor for Batch #2, is there anything potential customers should do ahead of time to make checkout faster?

I think I plan to be booted into a clean browser on a hard connection to 100Mb symmetric connection... but if I have to create an account or make bitcoin transfers into WalletBit first I'd like to get that setup ahead of time.

I am pretty certain you will be able to lock in your order

I will most likely be headed to the fab at the end of the week to be prepared to pick up the chips next week. The broker says no later than the 8th on the chips, but most likely earlier. Even if the chips roll off the line on the 8th, it doesn't affect the timeline much. Here is the current projected timeline:

Leave for the fab ~ Feb 1st or 2nd
Acquire 6 wafers earliest Feb 4th - Latest Feb 8th
Transport wafers same day to bumping facility
2 days in bumping facility
Transport to substrate and packaging
1 - 2 days for substrate and packaging
Transport to assembly house
. 24 hours at assembly house
~1 day for chip verification/testing
Transport to Kansas City
Bulk assembly / send out demo units
Ship bulk units

Our timeline is still on target for the week of the 10th, probably towards the later part of the week. If the worst case scenario in every step comes to pass, we are looking at starting shipping around Monday the 18th. Best case scenario we will start shipping around Wednesday the 13th or Thursday the 14th. This is, of course, subject to change, but I will keep everyone updated when/if there are any changes.

Happy for the update...
Interesting update. I am still doubtful of BFL not delaying through. After you roll 1 ten times, you start realizing the dice is loaded

A friend of mine installed 6.0 version on iPhone 4, and the phone is working very slow..Do you know what it's the problem causing this?
Restore.

I don't run ios 6 but used it during the developer beta and it was very smooth.

Bump.
6819  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Has Avalon promised not mining themselves after the Batch#2 ? on: January 30, 2013, 12:58:45 PM
Why does Avalon need to charge the customer advance in 100% full? why not just 10% in advance, and charge the rest 90% when they are ready to ship?

This time, Avalon need not to tape out. Avalon does not need so much money at this stage.
Because they're going to get people who don't pay the 90%?

Hi,

Just a notice that I changed your bitcoin payout address for Bitcoin Gold to the input address (after checking the taint to make sure it's yours), as there was a problem with handling of wrongly input addresses (not yours, but the one who entered before).

thanks
