It is pretty likely the BTC order for bASICs are already lost. I support the decision to buy a batch 2 unit through, would be very profitable if BFL delays again. And they probably will.

6786  Economy / Gambling / Re: FlipBitcoins.com - Bitcoin Coin Flip 50-50 Odds on: February 02, 2013, 12:04:13 AM
You're doing provably fair wrong.

Generate secrets (just random strings), post hash of them.
Hash secret + txid, use the first bit to see heads of tails.

It's that simple.

6789  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Profitability of mining? on: February 01, 2013, 09:19:02 AM
I would say that mining is a waste of time and money. I think that mining ltc coins could be profitable. But the miners do a great service for btc so I am glad they are there and hope it stays worth it to them. Still not sure if it will change the rate of coin brought to market with the asics, but it would be great if they speed up the confirmation times
ASICs will NOT increase the coins. It will NOT speed confirm times.

6 blocks per hour target
6 * 25 = 125 bitcoins per hour

It can vary as it is only recalculated every ~2000 blocks, but it will not increase the amount of BTC.
6790  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: instawallet problems please help on: February 01, 2013, 09:08:23 AM
It is a hosted wallet, meaning the coins were probably sent by other users.

This is why you go with Blockchain.info Smiley

I truly dislike people who grow pot and sell it via Bitcoin.
It ruins Bitcoin's reputation.

 Angry Angry
Pot are more commonly sold with cash.

how do you compare to satoshiDICE. also u said gem turned into satoshiDICE
satoshiDICE and this game is very different.

With satoshiDICE, you have a XX% chance of getting YY. It's purely luck based.

This game is about guessing if someone will buy after you - if someone does, you get your profit! You only lose if nobody buys after you.

With Bitcoin Gem, let me quote you their FAQ page:

Quote
Technically speaking, your odds of making a 10% profit are 96.875%, assuming another buyer purchases the gem after you.

With Bitcoin gold:

Quote
Your odds of making a profit are 100%, assuming another buyer purchases the gold bar after you.

If you're interested feel free to PM me and we can talk

So is the object to not be the last person holding on to the gold bar?  As long as someone keeps buying it, there aren't any losers correct?

Does the game ever reset back to the bar being worth 0btc?

1. Yes, if everyone buys it there won't be any losers.

2. No, unlike Bitcoin Gem which is basically just satoshiDICE.

Do not share your API key or URL with anyone!

I'm not sure but the JS should be executed client side.

500 internal server on anything (getinfo, listtransactions, gettransaction, etc) with correct logins. Tested on multiple servers, guids, and other sites using the json-rpc API seems down too.

The site has bugs because it was a quick project put together, but I rapidly fix them and if you lose your BTC due to a bug I'll refund you.

@TradeFortress: Seriously, I don't mind you ripping of my bitcoin gem. Although you could have tried a little harder to come up with a new twist –  or a new layout – or new wording ...

Anyhow, here's some points you may think about:
1. Will people still be buying your gold bar once the 100 btc limit comes nearer?
They know it's gonna end at 100 btc and frankly, who's willing to pay 100btc for a script that obviously is still in beta with nothing else in return?
2. Is it smart to advertise a script that's spitting out errors half of the time?
3. What will this do to your reputation as the site owner?

Just some food for thought.

I wouldn't have made a similar one, but bitcoin gem was shut down so I filled in the lack of "bitcoin gems". The new twist is pretty interesting to watch although it is more like S.DICE instead of the concept of seeing if someone will buy after you.

1. The 100 BTC limit isn't a limit, it's that after 100 BTC the last purchaser will get the script. It's a bonus Smiley

2. All the errors so far have being one error, which is when the incorrect bitcoin address was entered. I changed it to skip over paying in that case now, didn't want to do it at first because "omg where's my coins?"

3. This isn't a script that I've developed over the course of months. It's a quick project, mostly to see how long the gold bar will continue if the game didn't prematurely ended.
