61  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: March 24, 2017, 04:00:03 PM
Well my faulty R4 is now fixed and on the way back to my place. Fedex has it in Cologne (Germany) at the moment.
No details about what was repaired though.

At least they fixed your R4. They sent back a broken R4 that would not hash. I resent it back for repair and now they said they can't replace it because they don't have any more R4 units. They want me to pay some BTC to get as a replacement a T9. It's faster but also louder. Terrible customer service.
62  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer R4 - dead hash board? Shitty design, read before you send it back on: March 01, 2017, 01:04:34 AM
Got back my repaired R4. Worked for a few hours then some chips died with the dreaded missing 0 0. Then I rebooted the unit and it never came back up. I have powered it down and left it for a few hours then powered it back up and no go. I can't even ping it. I will contact Bitmain and to see what can be done.
63  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: February 28, 2017, 05:35:07 AM
Got back a repaired R4.  The top chain is not reporting temps and has two bad chips. It is still hashing at 8GH/s. So is this within the operating parameters that Bitmain tolerates? Kind of sucks to not get a 100% repaired R4.
64  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: December 28, 2016, 08:44:44 PM
Just got my R4 today and both chip temps are running HOT!  Chip temps 108/120.  No HW errors.   Huh Embarrassed

I have chip temps 81/ 111 been running solid for 3 weeks with no HW errors.

No way A4's ROI in a year.  Given diff rises you will be lucky to ROI in two years.

Here is my math for one unit (~140 MH/s) bought at Aliexpress and with my electricity price:

Not too bad. But diff going up by 10% in the next 3 days. Who knows what it will be in the next two months. If you double the diff to 140,000 and put LTC price at $3.00 USD then run your calculator, you will see that 2 year ROI.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: A4 Dominator - Pre-Order Group Buy - 280mh, roughly 1000w, $1800 + shipping on: December 28, 2016, 04:18:38 AM
I believe the questions were asked above and i would be looking for an answer as well:

1)  does inno mine with the a4s or just sell them?
2) how many are you going to mass produce?

These are 2 key factors in my decision making on purchase or not purchase.  Thanks

Even if they answered your questions, would you believe them? Just look at the rise in hash rate and know that Inno is the cause of this.  They want more people to pay their high prices for the A4. LTC price is going up due to BTC. As soon as BTC price cools off, LTC will fall. No way A4's ROI in a year.  Given diff rises you will be lucky to ROI in two years.  If anyone wants to chime in and tell people when they got their A4 and how much they have made since then, this will provide a baseline. Thanks.

Unfortunately nothing has been said about a cap on the number of miners.  The situation at this point is not looking good.  The price to performance ratio has fallen behind that of the S9.  So I think unless the price falls substantially on the A4 and is more in line with the price on the S9 I won't be able to justify buying more A4's.  The S9 has it's share of problems for sure, but the numbers are clearly slanted in the S9's favor at this time.

Hopefully we will see a price correction soon.  I would prefer to buy from Inno.  They are coming through with the fixes for the A4 and have the makings of a solid miner here.  The large diff increases and prices dropping are just killing this miner.  My A4's even after the fix still don't come close to the advertised hash rate.  This works against the current pricing of the A4's.

So if the price stays where it is and the trends continue in the current direction sales will vanish soon enough if they haven't already.  Maybe that will stabilize the diff and prices.  But it may mean the end of the A4 production.    Not a pretty picture at the moment.

A4's have a lot going against them now. Diff going up a lot as more A4's flood the market.  Who knows how many Inno has made or plans to build. Could be in the hundreds or thousands. No telling how greedy they will be. Right now for almost the cost of one A4 you can buy two Antiminer R4's. The 16TH at current diff will get you about .50 BTC per month.  Depending on your electric cost your could ROI in 6 months or less. Also BTC is on the rise and could hit $1000 soon. So your ROI would even be sooner.  No brainer here. ROI in 6 months with the R4 or ROI with the A4 in two years.

Scrypt will not be dead though, as profitability drops for some it will raise for others that stay on the network.  Eventually no or low power costs will be the only ones running them but it will never be dead so long as there is exchage value for scrypt coins. Right?

Eventually Inno will stop building the A4 because the more hash they add, the less coin they will be able to mine. Right now 280 Mhs gets you about $7 USD a day. $210 a month. If the diff doubles then you are only getting $105. So your ROI on a 2K machine is 2 years. GL with that.  This is all assuming coin prices remain stable. If they go south then you are looking at 3 plus years to ROI. I don't know about you but I have yet to run a miner more than 2 years before it began to die.  If you under volt the A4 you might get it to live for a few more years but at the cost of extending your ROI. Oh and don't forget that LTC reward halving is in 974 days.  People buying A4's now are taking a huge gamble. Even more than the ones who purchased KNC Titans.  The KNC Titans were crap but KNC didn't keep selling them for months on end. They built two batches and then filled a data hall for themselves and called it a day.  Inno seems to want to keep building until LTC prices go sub $1 and difficulty quadruples. If they have truly fixed the problems with the A4 then you will see huge jumps in diff in the coming months. Kiss your 1 year ROI away and start thinking about 2 or 3 year ROI.
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: A4 Dominator - Pre-Order Group Buy - 280mh, roughly 1000w, $1800 + shipping on: December 19, 2016, 05:55:43 AM
Yes, LTC now at 3.63 and falling I won't be buying any more A4's at this price.  The price needs to come down.  Diff increase and lower LTC price is just too much for me to justify this price point and it does not appear to be improving any time soon.

Kinda what I said a few days ago -- However, this is a double edge sword. Part of me is now worried that if LTC doesn't recover and people stop buying the A4 that Inno might be in danger of not having the funding needed to provide us the support and things we need to fix our B1/B2 miners.

Inno does not care if people buy the A4 or not. It is pure profit now. They have built their data hall and loaded it with A4's. All of the unknown hash coming from China is from their mine. They will dump more LTC on the market and further depress prices. Eventually when they have made a boat load of cash and LTC price is sub $1.00 USD, they will drop prices on the A4 and dump them on people who will buy used machines in the hope of ROI in two to three years.

They have not paid me out yet and I am over the limit that I set for payout. There is no admin contact for the site. If they don't pay out soon I will move my miners away from them.
71  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: December 09, 2016, 09:38:13 PM
Anyone that purchased multiple units seeing a large range of chip temps by unit?

One of my units is showing 105/79 and 93/103.  The other that is sitting right next to it, with same airflow and ambient temps showing 70/70 and 55/75.  Doesn't make sense.  Do you think the lower temperature unit is reading the temps incorrectly by chance?  The other 2 R4 batch 1 unit chip temps I have in the room are all about 88c~
Ja temps on the auto tune miners will vary a lot from miner to miner. Part of what auto-tune seems to do is look at hashrate vs temp and use that data as part of the Majik Sauce of speed, temp, and Vcore used to produce as-advertised total hashrate. That process lets them be less picky about what params are best for any particular group of chips from the Foundry and that in turn gives them a lot more usable chips. -- If any individual hashboard(s) under-performs they make sure a better one is in the same miner to give advertised speed.

I agree with this, I've got one board in my R4 b2 that's 105 deg. C but is the slower (555 M avg) of the 2 and also the one putting out 215 HW errors vs. the other at 91 deg. C that's only got 16 HW errors at 559 M (avg).

I have one that is 78/68 and 84/113 with ambient temp at 23 C
72  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: R4 Arrived Photos thought etc on: December 09, 2016, 07:17:38 PM
On my R4 on Chain 8 I see a chip 2  temp between 95 to 115. On Chain 7  chip 2 remains steady at 67. What gives with this fluctuation.

Www.eyeboot.com sell replacement fans. I've just bought two from them for my S9 (to try and get the noise down with matched fans rather than two different ones it came with) and they work great. Not bad on price either. They come from china but delivery was only a few days after an initial communication error.

I thought you were not suppose to do this. From what I have read, the input fan needs to be slower than the output fan due to back pressure.

If sound is more important than cooling then having equal fans could reduce noise.

Sad....and with the scrypt diff rise, fishy to me.  I wonder what inno is really doing.  They certainly arent sitting on their hands.  Either they are mining their machines and dropping the crap on everyone or they are just serviceing a farm.  No more good home mi er companys, guess i did expect this to happen, just sad that it actually did.
Innosilicon got the community to over pay for their junk. They have a fix but are not sharing it with the community. Only for their farm. Why would they care about the home miner? They got their money so why do they give a shit about their customers. The rise in difficulty plus the dump in LTC price is a result of them. People keep on hoping they will provide a fix for current problems. Why should they? It doesn't benefit them or their farm.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: A4 Dominator - Pre-Order Group Buy - 280mh, roughly 1000w, $1800 + shipping on: December 06, 2016, 08:51:36 AM

It doesn't sound like they will be selling them, just building and running them themselves, unless I missed something?

Yeah ...looks like DATA HALL all the way from the above to me too. Sad

Also of note....where all the LTC difficulty is coming from.....

A buddy said the unknown pools area for LTC went up way way up recently (see chart) the UNKNOWN area that is of pool shares

So assuming these are the big time Innsilicon ISP investors for the A4 data halls going up..they are running their own pools etc this makes some kinda sense on where the
difficulty on LTC rise came from (imho)

here is the link to current unknown part of LTC pools

https://www.litecoinpool.org/pools

perhaps someone can find a link with what the unknown rate was a couple months ago as a comparison.....I'm not having any luck

others with more skills add on to this ...see if the above has any merit....

anyway what I was told ...a big jump in unknown area of share of pools...on LTC ...thus probably the big A4 investors data halls hitting the LTC world

that's a lot of mining for LTC going down or sideways in price.... A4 ISP big money investors....the regular A4 consumers...this new bw.com miner data hall annoucement...sheesh
not to mention the good old knc titans still going strong on revised 3rd party gen tarkin firmware and cooling/heatsink mods etc..heh...likely good for another 2 years now in
that I myself have cut my dc/dc die temps by 10c to 15c ..sheesh...er anyway moving on.....we be full up on miners....no real ltc development (that I've heard) and pressure
from other alt coins like zcash and ethereum..fun times indeed Sad

Also (further up in this thread I think it was stated) ..anyway ..read that innsilicon on their main page supposedly says they are LTC miners...do not mention scrypt...
thus with that and everyone mining to cash or btc asap to pay off equip ..including the big data hall boys above..this could get real interesting Sad

We are already seeing LTC prices going down. We might see sub $2 LTC soon.
76  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: December 06, 2016, 05:48:19 AM
Well, I hope the R4 I found is legit. Just bought one, so I guess I'll see if they actually have it IN HAND in the USA & will ship it within 10 days...

Antminer R4, 8TH/s Designed for home use.NOTE: We ship the miner after 10 days
http://www.ebay.com/itm/162307697540

The seller has sold Antminers in the past, both used and a new one with positive feedback, so hopefully I'll have a new R4 to start mining with in about 2 weeks. Had to pay a premium price, but if it will be months b4 the next batch comes out, I'd rather have one now & hashing so it can pay for itself sooner rather than later when the difficulty increases.

People are paying $2000 USD for a batch 1 so you didn't pay too much.

Mine is also scheduled for Wed delivery (FedEx) Smiley
78  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: December 02, 2016, 10:17:37 PM
I sent payment immediately and over an hour later it still hasn't gone through and the order on my account shows expired because they haven't received it yet.  I believe this is common though?
Same here but if you go their wallet mentioned above you can probably see your payment like I see mine and tons of unconfirmed transactions following.

Alright I am more relaxed now that others seeing the same as me. Why don't they change the status to processing? Would make people less jumpy.
79  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: December 02, 2016, 08:58:22 PM
Crap, I wanted to buy some.
They're selling like hotcakes, huh.
Last miner that was selling this fast was the S3... and those things are generating my heat this winter.
I checked last night, sold out; this morning, sold out again but they sold some?
I not witnessed hot sales like this ever since.
They got a winner with this I think, hopefully they build more; would love a pair.

Seems as if orders fall thru they sell them. I sent payment immediately but have not confirmed with Bitmain. How long does it take? I see the transaction on the blockchain and they moved the funds to a different account.

My rb pi is a rb pi 3 model B V1.2. Will this work with the Qberty board? Maybe this is why my board does not function? I did not think of this.

How do you tell old version from new?  Heatsinks? The silkscreen on board is the same.

Why didn't those pricks use a beaglebone? RB pi nothing but problems.
