61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How huge is the Bitcoin Invention in History? on: July 19, 2016, 06:59:09 PM
Bitcoin is a bigger deal than it was when it started.  It has taken a few hits along the way, but it has continued to grow.  I expect it to continue.  The decentralized Bitcoin market (such as OpenBazaar) is still in the early stages, but it already works, and it will become better (and anonymous) in 2 or 3 years, maybe less.
62  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone ever stop gambling? but then gamble again? on: July 19, 2016, 06:34:47 PM
I used to play the wrong games, with the wrong idea about gambling.  I eventually learned my lesson.  Now I only gamble against other players, and I am selective about it.  I look for impatient and reckless players.  It made a tremendous difference.  The difference between night and day.
63  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do Girls also gamble? on: July 19, 2016, 06:42:24 AM
Yes.  I know they play internet poker.  And they are frequently good at it.  They can be patient, observant, and deceptive.  They learn the rest quickly.
64  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ALL IN!!?? on: July 19, 2016, 04:32:05 AM
Yes.  Definitely.

I frequently go all-in when I have the best possible hand based on the board.  But if the opponent has not shown strength in the hand it does no good to go all-in, so a smaller bet or raise is appropriate then, so that they will call it.

I sometimes go all-in when I am in a hand with a player who has previously demonstrated a willingness to call a large bet when he only has a draw.  Of course you must be observant to have concluded this, and you need to have a good hand.

And all-in in poker is not every bitcent you own, it is what you have in front of you on the table.  Experienced players do not put all their money on the table.  Just a fraction.  They are self-insured.

That is the right idea.
66  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your aim in gambling???? on: July 19, 2016, 01:29:45 AM
Follow the path that rewards patience, observation, and discipline.  Cultivate those characteristics in yourself.
67  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to motivate women to use Bitcoin? on: July 19, 2016, 01:15:33 AM
Women recognize and appreciate activities that reward their strengths, and where they will not be at a disadvantage. Bitcoin and an internet connection can help them achieve that.  I know some who are doing it successfully now.

68  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your plan to get rich with Bitcoin? on: July 19, 2016, 01:09:57 AM
My plan is:

  • Play Bitcoin internet poker on a site with very low rake
  • Be patient
  • Be disciplined
  • Be observant
  • Identify players who are impatient and undisciplined
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin IRA (Retirement Acct)? on: July 19, 2016, 12:53:47 AM
If you have a computer, an internet connection, and some Bitcoin, you can learn to make more Bitcoin for retirement or any other purpose.  It helps to be disciplined, observant, and patient.
70  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can gambling be profitable in long term ? on: July 19, 2016, 12:39:09 AM
Poker is the only way I am aware of.
71  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If you were rich, would you still gamble? on: July 19, 2016, 12:37:54 AM
Yes
72  Economy / Gambling / Re: SwCpoker.eu | No Banking, Only Bitcoin | Bitcoin Poker 2.0 LIVE NOW! on: July 15, 2016, 05:39:51 PM
In my opinion, SwC needs to create some buzz.  Something for people to talk about and write about on the internet.  A reason for people to come check SwC out.  And what do they have to offer?
  • anonymity (no ID required, no banks, no credit cards, taxes)
  • access by and access to U.S. players
  • very low rake (and create a promotion of one random rake-free table at all times)
  • the biggest pot in internet poker history would eventually happen there (heads up).  Create a promotion, "winner of current biggest pot" gets 100% rakeback for as long as he holds the title of "winner of the biggest pot"
  • anonymous celebrities playing (anonymously of course!) at SwC
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and me (Hal Finney) on: July 14, 2016, 06:42:57 AM
If what some people on this page of the topic have written is true, and the mind / soul does not disassociate from the body at death, then it could be that Hal's soul is currently locked up in his frozen brain and body, saying "FORGET IT!!!  THIS WAS A BAD IDEA!!! THIS WASN'T SUPPOSED TO WORK LIKE THIS!!! LET ME OUT!!! KILL ME KILL ME KILL ME KILL ME KILL ME..........."

I don't think anyone here wants to do him like that, do we?
In that case, let's just ask Hal's soul how it feels the next time we see it.
I guess that would be... cool.

That was not wasted.  I got it.
74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and me (Hal Finney) on: July 13, 2016, 03:12:44 AM
Sam Harris describing consciousness:

If it’s true that consciousness is being run like software on the brain and can – by virtue of ectoplasm or something else we don’t understand – be dissociated from the brain at death, that would be part of our growing scientific understanding of the world if we discover it…

But there are very good reasons to think it’s not true. We know this from 150 years of neurology where you damage areas of the brain, and faculties are lost… You can cease to recognize faces, you can cease to know the names of animals but you still know the names of tools…

What we’re being asked to consider is that you damage one part of the brain, and something about the mind and subjectivity is lost, you damage another and yet more is lost, [but] you damage the whole thing at death, we can rise off the brain with all our faculties intact, recognizing grandma and speaking English!

I was just doing some searching, and I saw the link back on page 14 in this topic about Hal Finney being cryopreserved.

No disrespect to Hal, but I think that cryopreservation is a load of SHIT.

No one who is cryopreserved will ever be revived.  The body simply does not work that way.

Each one of us, me, you, etc...  WE are not the physical "we" that we see and feel in and of our physical human bodies.  WE are the life energy, the "soul", as it is, and we merely inhabit these human bodies for the length of this bodies' lifespan.  It is like living in a house that is freshly built when this body is born, and then over time the house decays and collapses, equivalent to the death of this human body.

So the actual Hal Finney is gone, probably onto his next life already, never to return to the long dead human body, or "house" he once lived in.

That's what I think, anyhow.

I do not agree.  There is no soul.  Our thoughts and our memories (everything) are electro-chemical processes in our brain.  When the brain is deprived of oxygenated blood it dies very quickly.  Consciousness and memories are lost.  If the damage is localized, people may lose the ability to speak, move one arm, etc.  It is called brain damage, and if extensive enough, it leads to death.  After that, your "life energy", "spirit", or "soul" does not float around (because those are invented concepts).  People who try to tell you otherwise are often trying to "sell" you something, like "eternal life" in a religion.  But I understand that many people believe some version of what you wrote.  And some of the people surrounding the creation of Bitcoin believe (or believed) that they can eventually be brought back.  As far as I know, Satoshi never expressed such a belief.

Our silence has ended.

That will help.

If you can keep a reasonable fraction of the new players who actually deposit, you will grow.

If you can create periodic attention-getting promotions, many of your players will post about them in various poker forums.  How about some StarsSucks™ incentive for PLO players, for example?  Consider creating one rotating, rake-free table.  Sometimes high stakes, sometimes low stakes.  We will make it famous.

We want you to be successful.

EDIT: it was a tip from another player. It just showed up in cashier. What a nice guy Smiley

That happens.  Random Acts of Kindness™ amidst an ocean of depravity.

I created an account yesterday. Won on a freeroll, lost a small amount on a cash game, went to bed and when I woke up my balance was 3x higher. Anyone know why?

It would not normally make your balance 3x higher, but rakeback, and table starter rakeback were paid yesterday.  Check Cashier, Transactions.

They have a very strange philosophy about public relations.  Are they from another planet?
