Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How HARD is it to trace someone on bitcointalk?

There is a scam accusation thread for that. Like someone else said you'd be surprised how much info this community can help you find on a person. And once they are identified you be suprised how quickly some of them want to pay back. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=260073.msg2774678#msg2774678who scammed you and how much did they get. No one! ~ just asking ~Im in a GB and would like some info on scammers just in-case the Guy wants to run and take our BTCBTCBTC Thanks GB?? anyway... don't even think about scamming. You'll eventually get caught..... GB means "group buy" ~ im in a group buy ~ i am NOT that kind of person bro! but thank you for your help! And God spoke all these words, saying: 2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 “You shall have no other gods before Me. 4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. 7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain. 8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. 12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you. 13 “You shall not murder. 14 “You shall not commit adultery. 15 “You shall not steal. 16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.” That is strange. It doesn't say "You shall not own slaves."

“The FBI has not been able to get to Ulbricht’s personal Bitcoin yet,” wrote Hill. An FBI spokesperson said to Hill that the “$80m worth” that Ulbricht had “was held separately and is encrypted”. And that is good news for the Bitcoin system.

Agents from Homeland Security Investigations arrived on July 26 at the 15th Street address. There, according to the complaint, they encountered Ross Ulbricht, whose photo matched those on all nine fake IDs.
He had over two months to think about it before they arrested him.
More than enough time to get past the denial, and properly protect the private keys.

I imagine that after the cops knocked on the door of his flop house to ask questions about the fake IDs, he had time to properly protect the private keys.
That is, after he was through the denial stage.

They are not going to abandon all of these: I am of the opinion that the Bitcoin process is incompatible with the - Bank Secrecy Act (1970)
- Money Laundering Control Act (1986)
- Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988
- Annunzio-Wylie Anti-Money Laundering Act (1992)
- Money Laundering Suppression Act (1994)
- Money Laundering and Financial Crimes Strategy Act (1998)
- Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools to Restrict, Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 (USA PATRIOT Act),
[Title III of the USA PATRIOT Act is referred to as the International Money Laundering Abatement and Financial Anti-Terrorism Act of 2001]
- Intelligence Reform & Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004
as well as other related government initiatives (to protect us from evil), such as - The elimination of all currency denominations greater than $100
- Mandatory reporting of wages data, and withholding
- Searches and confiscation of "suspicious cash" by TSA (and other agencies)
We are witnessing the early sparring.

Children posting all over FB have no idea how their future lives will be controlled, constrained, and prosecuted for pastcrimes.
Absolutely. Identify yourself, your interests, and your associates. Then be surprised when they miraculously put all the pieces together.

Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Tips for local transactions
|
on: September 28, 2013, 06:51:06 PM
|
Yes. Both parties must clearly demonstrate that they have all the cash or Bitcoins in their possession at the start. If it is a first transaction between the two parties, the transaction can be done incrementally, to lessen the risk to both parties. For example, if the planned transaction is for 10 Bitcoins, agree to transfer $100 (or some other fraction of the total amount) along with an exchange of the equivalent BTC, and repeat. It is easier to send fractional BTCs to match an equivalent fiat, than it is to create exact change to match a specified amount of BTC. Agree on the number of confirmations necessary before proceeding.
If there is ever any hint of deception, excuses, or "change of plans"; leave immediately. Don't debate or argue.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SHA-256 is designed by the NSA - do they have a backdoor?
|
on: September 10, 2013, 05:46:44 PM

By the way: What might have been the reason that Mr. Nakamoto decided to use an NSA algorithm (SHA-256) for Bitcoin?
There are more than a few hints that Mr Nakamoto himself (themselves) may be linked to NSA. just saying... A cite? The only comments I remember is when Gavin went to CIA for a presentation on Bitcoin, Satoshi wasn't interested. This is quoted from the defunct Bruce Wagner Bitcoin podcast:
Bruce Wagner : When was the last time you chatted to satoshi <laugh> Gavin Andresen: Um... I haven't had email from satoshi in a couple months actually. The last email I sent him I actually told him I was going to talk at the CIA. So it's possible , that.... that may have um had something to with his deciding
Link to source/timestamp? I'd love to hear this part, but not enough to listen through Bruce Wagner's podcast. http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/onlyonetv.com-bitcoin-show/id464967190It should be around 17:53. First episode.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if dev-team is compromised?

If NSA wanted to compromise one or more persons in order to subtly affect decisions, what methods would they use? Snowden describes a case that he learned about. Whistleblower Edward Snowden Describes The Time The CIA Got A Swiss Banker Drunk And Put Him Behind The Wheelhttp://www.businessinsider.com/edward-snowden-describes-cia-tricks-2013-6#ixzz2eVQoKJCWThe known methods used to "turn" subjects include sex, financial pressure, and occasionally drug use to blackmail or extort, and force seemingly small changes in behavior. These changes are then leveraged to force even greater changes in behavior. The attack vectors are typically the spouse, child custody, job security, and criminal prosecution.
