Look at the actions of elected officials.

They create a separate retirement system for themselves.
They exempt themselves from our socialized medical system.
They have armed guards.

Government is/will require detailed transaction info from exchanges.  Despite that, some users will prefer to trade with them.  That can still work.

For others, consider conducting Bitcoin transactions using incremental P2P, including face-to-face transactions.  Make government(s) less relevant.

Wikipedia has resisted our advances so far, but don't forget what an advantage for us it will be when they finally do accept BTC.

A variation of the Bitpay method would be an escalating interval method.  Increase the escrow or holding period of the BTC collected for Wikipedia.  Perhaps double the waiting period each time.

Airports automatically have good security and WiFi.

The chances are good that you will not need to wait for ATMs to be installed at airports.  And your transactions will be much more private than an ATM will provide.

That is a reasonable question.

If that were the case, I would take additional precautions.

Transferring incrementally, perhaps 100 BTC at a time, with the cash transported to a bank lock box by my courier (or by me if necessary), and the BTC transfers initiated by another assistant from a remote computer on telephone command, with some code words involved.

And the Kryptonite...  Don't forget the Kryptonite.

I received about $1200 USD worth of Bitcoins while engaged in internet commerce.  I needed some cash to pay a bulldozer operator.  I had never purchased any Bitcoins, so I did not have an online account to cash them out.  So I looked around for some options.  I found some local Bitcoin dealers on Craigslist http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites , and then noticed some of the same ones on LocalBitcoins.com https://localbitcoins.com/

I ended up emailing and then phoning a dealer who was only about two miles away from me.  He sounded knowledgeable, confident, and was not "tricky" or evasive.  We arranged to meet in a "safe location" that had security cams and free WiFi.  I first transferred my Bitcoins to an Electrum wallet on my laptop, and drove to meet him.  We met.  I booted up my laptop, I connected to the WiFi, I showed him the Electrum balance on my computer screen, he counted out the hundred dollar bills on the table (which I politely did not touch), he emailed me his Bitcoin wallet address, I transferred the Bitcoins to his wallet from my Electrum wallet while he was monitoring the block chain, the transfer was instantaneous, and I picked up the money and left.

What a shame you couldn't convince the bulldozer operator to accept payment in bitcoins.  I assume you at least asked?

It would be a true shame if he was willing to accept bitcoins, but neither of you thought to mention the possibility to the other.

I asked him.  He does not even have a computer.  And I tried to barter.
