601  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [700GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: May 30, 2013, 02:20:57 PM
I've made some tests yesterday using cgminer 2.5.10 with a BFL FPGA pointed to the mining proxy (connected to p2pool with forrestv patch) and it does not work if I try using getwork (I get back an error which says that user credentials are wrong).
Maybe update cgminer?

Why should I? Getwork is so old and cgminer 2.5.10 has been released around february this year, maybe I could try an older version of cgminer...

Unfortunately, no success...
Blade just do not connect to stratum proxy on p2pool. There is not error message at all.
I would like really to have some developer in it, I can donate my Blade worktime to debug this.

If I let cgminer switch to stratum, that is if I don't use --fix-protocol then it starts mining without problems.

You can add -P -D to the cgminer command line to see what goes wrong.

I'm running the mining proxy on a fedora 16 pc and cgminer on an ubuntu 12.x server.

603  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #2) on: May 30, 2013, 11:05:21 AM
I'm waiting for the delivery of my unit right now and my country's Customs sent me a copy of the invoice which is included with the package and it reads 500 USD/unit + 80 USD shipping.

spiccioli

Is there any contact email to avalon?

If they could send me a copy of invoice included with package I could pass it to DHL and authorize them to pay in my name, it would speed up my delivery by 2-3 days, as I know (Poland).

No, there is no sender's email in the invoice.

AV2 @ 256MHz, 655Watts.

goxed,

did you measure this on 120V?

Apart from the fact that this is becoming a monologue Smiley

We found another block tonight (UTC) but I see pool has lower hashing speed today?!? WTF?

DE-CE-TRA-LI-ZA-TION this is the name of the game, move some hashing power here to help keeping bitcoin network healthy.

607  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: May 27, 2013, 07:10:20 PM
So I have completed 3 major rewrites of the avalon driver code to improve it. One was playground for testing things out and never really built, but I'm left with two different rewrites, and a question for existing users.

The first is a complete rewrite of the read/write mechanism using the existing serial usb driver (ftdi) which should be much more robust at staying in sync with results coming in from the device, as well as more accurately picking when the device is misbehaving and hopefully be more reliable at resetting it. This code is currently in a git branch called avalon-serialdev .

Will SSH access to a retail TP-Link 703n, or even a (to be delivered Real Soon Now) Avalon help you?

Hi ckolivas,

is new code and/or are new avalons able to fully restart the control unit (FPGA)?

I'm asking because this would be the real advantage, if not I'd go with the new serial code since a stuck avalon would need a full restart anyway.

Ok guys,

last week we reached a steady half a TH/s of hashing, this week we need to break the 1 TH/s barrier!

So, start moving your rigs here NOW, there are just a few days left!!  Smiley

Ok,

I got tracking for my february 2 batch 2 order, and in the order page Avalon team added

please pay more attention to your custom, thank you.

which I don't understand what it means.

Sad

This morning I see a "clearance event" in my tracking...

Code:
Further Detail:
A clearance other than standard Customs entry is required for this shipment.
Next Step:
Further processing will occur as instructed by the regulatory authority.
A DHL representative shall attempt to contact the importer or shipper
if further information is required

So is it blocked inside China Customs due to some issues?

ebereon; 2 units; paid as guest on feb02; walletbit confirmed; no tracking ; no order number; no email; no info on asic store; nochina

Did you open a ticket on http://support.avalon-asic.com  ?

Put inside your transaction id to walletbit and as much info as you can.

I had the same problems with walletbit on february 2, opened a ticket the same day with walletbit and support.avalon-asic and a couple of weeks ago they added my order to the store (where you have to register and fill your address and telephone number).

Put address and telephone number on support.avalon-asic as well, the cannot ship if they (Avalon team) don't have a telephone number.

Another one block found today and a steady hashing power Smiley

Fireduck, did you see/apply this patch to your bitcoind?

Back to half a TH/s Wink

BTW, this pool, between those with at least 100 GH/s and not considering p2pool, has one of the lowest fees (or is on a par).

If you have an Avalon you can easily mine with difficulty 512 or even 1024 for a fee of less than a half of one percent and it pays you, if you find a block, half of the block fees.

I'd say only p2pool is better, but Avalons don't work there and setting up a p2pool node requires a lot more efforts so I don't really understand why this pool is not bigger.

Maybe they all hang out at BTC Guild with ASICMiner. Smiley

Probably, but then everybody talks about pools becoming too big while all it takes is a couple of minutes to move here...

By the way, if I were ASICMiner I would be mining solo, I really don't understand why they are mining in a pool with so much hashing power.

Where are all the Avalon owners when they're needed?

I think most are still waiting to get theirs.

Cheesy

All those from batch 1 and those happy twenty or so from batch 2 would be enough to make hhtt one of the biggest pool.

Right now, 5 more Avalons would be enough to make hhtt as big as p2pool, for example.

Well,

it should be clear that I like this minimalistic pool... Smiley

anyway it seems it cannot attract enough hashing power... and fireduck is silent since a long time.

Where are all the Avalon owners when they're needed?

This pool needs you!  (with a big pointing hand) Smiley

BTC could be $1.00 next week or $500, who knows. Enjoy life, live your life to the fullest without regret, you never know when your time is up and you dont get to see your loved ones anymore. An hour from now isnt guaranteed, nor is tomorrow. Try to be a good person and make a difference each and every day.

Well said, I wholeheartedly agree!

So a block yesterday,

but pool still lacks enough hashing power to reach the psychological level of a block a day...
