601  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 3.1.3: modular ASIC/FPGA, GBT, Strtm, RPC, Lnx/OpnWrt/PPA/W64, BFLSC on: July 22, 2013, 11:17:47 AM
Finally got scrypt working with bfgminer with help of Zanatos666, thanks again for helping me find a solution
People who have problems getting scrypt working you need to mess around constant with the "thread-concurrency" leave all other parameters away besides --scrypt and the needed pool parameters and the "thread-concurrency".
Do NOT add worksize, shaders, lookup-gap or vectors let the program do it when it has started and runs you can write a working config from within bfgminer

I advice you to make use of any stratum pool because this will somehow get it to make the necessary .bin file as long as that is not created you will not get it running at all

Zanatos666 his changes to the .conf gave me the idea to tinker with that parameter and i left all other parameters away because the old .conf did not start in any way. So i did enter in the concurrency "8192" but it did not start so i changed it to the max known setting for 7970 gpu "22400" and poof it started

I am now experimenting with all of them to see when it fails and try to find the best hash power with changing them one by one, if a scrypt.......... bin NOT has been made try set some of the parameters to set to "0" this seems to make the miners fill that parameter by itself

Before the mess started my scrypt was having the following settings and failed to run all of a sudden completely even though it has worked for a very long time :

"vectors" : "1",
"shaders" : "2048",
"worksize" : "256",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "21712",

now it looks like this :

"vectors" : "1",
"shaders" : "0",
"worksize" : "0",
"lookup-gap" : "0",
"thread-concurrency" : "22400",

since i am in eu i had the bright idea to try mine at that address
but after some succesfull minutes when it changed to another coin i get user/pool data invalid disconnected
from that moment it kept message unable to connect
it seems as if at some moment my credentials are invalid for some weird reason
603  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: [POLL] Should Butterfly Labs (BFL) get a Scammer tag? on: July 21, 2013, 10:11:15 PM
I will not change my mind till i get my single rig which they advertised and what i paid for is delivered soon.
If they send me in 3 weeks that device or pay me the money they took from me i will change this and remove my posts instant

We all know these guys can talk well and seems to make people still believe they will deliver anything, but i still see pre-ordering when you want to order something i checked.

But besides a few lucky people i see hardly anybody having received what they paid for besides a small freaking jalapeno.
Yes i know some have received a mining rig but what i see if most of them living in the usa.

604  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER ASIC FPGA GPU overc monit fanspd RPC linux/win/osx/mip/r-pi 3.3.1 on: July 21, 2013, 09:39:52 PM
I tried all supported versions of catalyst on my win 8 machines

Well with bfgminer it seem to work a bit better then cgminer.

No clue what has changed in last updates but even cgminer --ndevs makes it crash

As soon as scrypt is in the config or command line it ends immediate in a crash even without any other parameters like :

Cgminer --scrypt -I12 makes it crash as soon as i enter a pool i downloaded cgminer several times to make sure nothing is wrong with the files.

What i saw is that somehow cgminer seems to get some garbled pool info even though i put it in exact as should.
The tests i set it as : http://pool:port
When i use a config file it errors out and gives me no pool defined after {
While i took from many helpfull people here their supplied copy of working configs and just replaced the pool name and login info with the ones i wanted to try
i even made several other litecoin pool logins and tried all of them and guess what all the same issues

Again this involves both cgminer and bfgminer which absolutely not wanna run anymore on scrypt
I really have tried everything but from catalyst win8 beta till 13.6 cgminer no longer wants to run
The weirdest of it all is, that as long as i can remember i have been mining scrypt succesfull for many weeks several months ago.

I will take one of my old harddrives and will install freaking ubuntu even though i hate that unfriendly linux to see if that does run normal but its still absolute weird.

Before someone says uninstall catalyst with blahblah i have been using guru3d driver sweeper, between each and every version to make sure no residue from previous versions where left behind

Some of the people see indeed only dollar signs
But i really hope we can someday use a credit card and go shopping with bitcoin there is enough people trying to make the best out of it.
I agree fully on the comment that mining is not for a quick buck earning, you do that to get in the long run a small or larger profit for now its clear asic is going to be a big part of the mining power in the network

Those who mine keep some coins apart for future investments and use some to cover the costs for mining and on a larger scale the costs to host their machines.
Ofcourse i do know that investment in mining equipment can be a risc, but if we do not move forward the costs of energy will kill the bitcoin mining industry anyway.

But overall i see the miners as the people who do help economy on a small scale because most normal people at the moment do not spend much money,  miners do spend a considerable amounts of money in new tech and devices

Nevertheless at certain point btc will become so hard to get by mining that it will no longer be worthwhile for smaller miners to do so.

Then i am sure the value of the coin is considerable since it became a very rare product to get, the only way it would loose value is that all of us loose faith in the coin and if it will not being used.

Thats why it is important to see bitcoin payement to spread and become more common, as soon as sellers see it is a trusted and worthwhile system they will use it when we do accept that the early adopters will cost a bit more.

You just must keep in mind they take a risc that the coin with its value may increase or decrease in short time, if this gets adopted more by bigger firms then i think the value might be more like current valued products.
do not forget gold, silver and any coin its value is dictated by the demand and offers like any other item of value.

Btc is a product with a limit and will be a hard to get object.
So do not come with a story its only digital/virtual because each and every day you buy and sell all your items digital
{ most buying gold/silver do not really buy gold but buy virtual gold in an bank account, they have no clue if this gold really exist or not }

I do know patience with spending the coins can be very profitable also, so if you do not really need the value the coins represent i would not spend them easily. And i can promise you some of the coins will go into a digital freezer for a long time by me Wink

We need to get solid companies who deliver what they promise and get those scam artists out of this system, i sure as hell hope that we get more and really honest sellers of items on the bitcoin community.
And really would like to see a list of companies who are to be trusted and can be verified that they deliver what they promise, so we can weed out the untrusted ones.

609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ElephantCoin - ELP - The new crypto coin with superblocks is Launched! on: July 20, 2013, 01:37:09 AM
that probably explains why i got 11 rejected blocks in a row with my small 800kh mining
i was in error on my highest block it was 343 nothing bigger or any big blocks today anyway

with my hash speed its not needed to mine at a pool yet
and i am not even using 1/4 th my gpu power because of high temps in our country at the moment
I have got 3 blocks now with value more then 50 the highest is 211 coins so they do exist and can be found
Its just pure luck to get them, but it would be fun to find a super big block
When i could get cgminer or bfgminer to work i might try balance between solo and pool but we all gotta be patient especially those running a pool
When blocks get harder to get the miners will go onto any availlable pool
but for now i think most choose to mine solo

well thats what i was thinking at first also
For that reason i made an account on a few pools but when i tried mining at these known pools
Guess what no messages at all just poof application stopped working
The program simply stops working instant it not even write a log file
But again the miners work fine on btc alike pools just when i try mining scrypt pools it gets killed
613  Local / Alt Coins (Nederlands) / Re: [LTC] Litecoin discussie on: July 18, 2013, 07:15:25 PM

614  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ElephantCoin - ELP - The new crypto coin with superblocks is Launched! on: July 18, 2013, 06:45:52 PM
getting lots of blocks rejected from 33% up to 55 %
after i got one block which was 211 have not seen any other then normal 50 coin blocks with sometimes a little fee's
ofcourse not much trading and sending gets done yet since it has not been used at all

anyway can someone send their batch/ config for cgminer and bfgminer
and what driver package are being used
i am running windows 8  with 13.4 ati catalyst

Order 39XX
July 13nd
Mercury

might try to upgrade to saturn

well one thing is for certain for btc mining there seems to be no financial crisis seeing the massive buy of asic devices on all manufactors of these machines
617  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: July 18, 2013, 06:23:36 PM
Well there are people who believe that BFL is not scamming people but they actually do
Unless i receive very soon my single SC 30Gh miner on my doorstep but nothing is in the order list anymore
It all began that i suddenly could not enter the bfl website anymore and had to get another password on that site which was weird since i had logged to search for any news about delivery after almost a freaking year waiting
If they would have been in the EU i would have send a lawyer at them just for the interrest they have to pay over the money they took.
Anyway instead of a 30gh miner i recieved a freaking 150 dollar jalapeno and bfl does not answer at all on my email messages besides answering bullshit.
I paid in btc and have proof of that and was confirmed now i am stuck with a jala device and bfl act like all is ok and finished now.

Ofcourse i am solo mining which is not really uncommon you can see in the errors that it shows switching difficulty based on the network
but it does not matter if i put in a pool or my local server .... both crash the most annoying is that either bfgminer or cgminer runs
when i remove the scrypt and start mining on btc they both run fine
switch over to scrypt ...... pooof and disappear from the screen

i tried using abolute minimal parameters like --scrypt -I(2 up to 18)
or made the full command with each and every needed parameter for 7970 cards
at the moment i just want to use 2 of the 4 cards for mining because we have finally got some hot summer weather in the netherlands, but even if i select only one of the four it simply crash
no messages not any usefull hint just bfgminer/cgminer has stop working and thats it
i have no clue why this happens since it has worked in the paste very well with the same batch and also on scrypt i even have solo mined ltc for several months
Had found something which i thaught would help by adding that mining address in the config or adding a pool for confirmation but nope nothing works

insane but true both bfgminer and cgminer crash when i try mine scrypt
when running as btc miner they did well a week ago.
I have one cgminer running with asic running but that should not matter in my opinion it is on the usb
Even trying to mine at the pool in the previous posts it crashes
Anyway i let it run on reaper and check tommorow if i can run the asic on another machine to get that as a potential problem out of the way
