601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The best new Bitcoin PROJECT from China! (Tablets and BITCOINS) on: May 10, 2012, 05:12:03 PM
From current solutions, I would go with BitcoinSpinner. While other clients are OK, waiting for anything like block chain updates are jsut pain in the ass for average Joe, and will amke them hate bitcoin.
602  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The best new Bitcoin PROJECT from China! (Tablets and BITCOINS) on: May 10, 2012, 02:46:04 PM
To give you some kind of info about what kind of problem this is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DX46Qv_b7F4

But for starters, the developers need not to worry that much - just make simple lightweight clients or something, and if they really bundle their devices with those, awesome! It hink the chinese goverment won't even think about bitcoin for a long time...
603  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Attempt to Get Geeks.com to Accept Bitcoin on: May 10, 2012, 02:07:04 PM
Yeah, maybe you should recommend system like paysius.com as an easy way to accept bitcoin.

But seriously, who does buy stuff from that store? Seems pretty lame to me, and I consider myself as a computer geek...
604  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [VIDEO] New Animated Bitcoin Video! "Screw Banks" make it viral! on: May 10, 2012, 09:14:55 AM
Yes. If you're using evil methods to achieve your goals - even if the goal is to promote a supposedly good cause - it means your moral compass is too screwed up to be trusted to decide what is good and what is evil. Sooner or later you'll use the evil methods you have perfected for evil goals, making the victory Pyrrhic.

Achieving your goals honestly is tougher, but any success is genuine and indicative of truly making the world more good.

What is so evil about this video? I thought that you were earlier criticizing the tone/style of this video, now it is ethically wrong? Are there some wrong facts in this video?

The video is simplistic/naive, but that is the point.
605  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Simple ? on: May 09, 2012, 08:25:06 PM
Nothing about the fees... OK I get it, the ATM withdrawals are fee-free, but how about other fees? Why don't these companies publish them?
606  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin.de OTC on: May 09, 2012, 06:20:44 PM
I worked since the beginning with http://www.Bitcoin.de never ever had a problem realy good Bitcoinmarket.
Also with http://www.Bitmarket.eu I had never problems.
New on the market is now: http://www.bitcoin-24.com
They started not long ago, but on this market you can directly cash in via
"sofort überweisung" and buy Bitcoins. I think MxGox will start to loose customers.

How fucking hard it is? Just add a large button "Fees", which lists all the fees with the service.

"Bitcoin-24 will not charge any fees for Bitcoin transactions!"

That is the only information they seem to give. Fuck you. I will not send any money to that service, and I will as well discourage everyone from using it.
607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [???] BitPak pulled from the AppStore ? on: May 09, 2012, 06:18:00 PM
My suggestion:

This attitude keeps popping up on the bitcoin forums. "Haha, you use iPhone, you suck". That is probably the best way to encourage people to use bitcoins, I guess?
608  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin.de OTC on: May 09, 2012, 05:20:02 PM
what's the problem?
I 've moved >3000 BTC there this year, works fine for me.

LOL, I can't reach the url bitmarket24.eu, and if I google it, nothing is found...
609  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin.de OTC on: May 09, 2012, 04:59:53 PM
I advise not using it.

There's a fee on selling.
There's a fee on creating an order: If you only sell 10BTC from a 50BTC order, you *HAVE TO* create a new order - with new fees!
There's another fee: If you cancel an order, there's a "marketplace fee".

Complete and udder ripoff.
No decent FAQ, no detailed view of paid commissions.

I prefer bitmarket24.eu.

Well, hidden fees are pain in the ass. But bitmarket24.eu doesn't even work for me.
610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [???] BitPak pulled from the AppStore ? on: May 09, 2012, 02:56:54 PM
Just add this to the dozens of reasons I already have to jailbreak my phone.

I don't get you guys. Jailbreaking is the thing that won't cut it. People don't want to even hear about it. "Jailbreak... What? Is it legal?"

I would argue that the process of installing a web based client might be even faster than the installation of the native one.
611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [???] BitPak pulled from the AppStore ? on: May 09, 2012, 02:54:45 PM
(And don't tell me you can scan QR codes using an external app, that just doesn't cut it Cheesy)

For me and most of my friends it cuts it... It is as fast to use as a native app, so what is your point? Why don't you just implement some web UI and QR code scanning features to instawallet as well, it is very simple to do. You can just copy easywallet.org like I copied instawallet, LOL
612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [VIDEO] New Animated Bitcoin Video! "Screw Banks" make it viral! on: May 09, 2012, 02:46:07 PM
In a sense, the thing that some people here are angry with this video, is a very good sign. Effective marketing usually doesn't make everyone happy - it can make some people possibly very upset, while other demographies will dig it.
613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [VIDEO] New Animated Bitcoin Video! "Screw Banks" make it viral! on: May 09, 2012, 02:33:50 PM
By the way, this line goes to show how ridiculous the video is. The "demographic" this video is "targeting" does not buy stocks or trade with brokers (in general). I'm sorry, but upper and middle class people who do do those things, are not going to fall for this kind of demagoguery.

I think you are underestimating that demographic. OK, the vocal people of that demography probably aren't buying stocks and probably aren't wall street customers. But they are _very_ visible in the political discussion, at least how I see it.

And the guys criticizing this issue fail to see the point - they glorify their own political worldview and ideology, not understanding that the idea of this kind of videos is to spread bitcoin widely and far, to different cultures, different political ideologies.

While this video probably didn't catch the viral effect (or maybe did, I don't know the numbers), the next video might. Just keep producing them, for different demographies, different viewpoints etc. Don't keep bitcoin as a crypto-nerd - libertardian - laissez faire - anarcho-capitalist -thing, if bitcoin stays attached to those ideologies it won't catch on.
614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [???] BitPak pulled from the AppStore ? on: May 09, 2012, 01:34:17 PM
Well, they can't censor the web based ones...
615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [VIDEO] New Animated Bitcoin Video! "Screw Banks" make it viral! on: May 09, 2012, 09:28:54 AM
-1. If I had seen this video when I was first introduced to Bitcoin (and hadn't been already familiar with the concept of cryptocurrency), I'd run for my life and wouldn't come back for a year or so. It only alienates normal, non-anarchist people.

I agree though that making your audience believe they already agree with you, rather than trying to convince them of anything, is a sound Demagogy technique.

This video isn't aimed for the normal people. It is for the zeitgeist-y anti-banking people, same niche as Max Keiser is targeting. weusecoins.com is for the mainstream.
616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [VIDEO] New Animated Bitcoin Video! "Screw Banks" make it viral! on: May 09, 2012, 07:02:03 AM
Well, if someone thinks they can do a better video, why not create one? It was crowdfunded operation, and if you have a good proposal, you will surely get investments.

I liked it - a little humorous and simplistic, this will work for certain kind of people.
617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So I was checking my referral logs ... on: May 08, 2012, 02:36:30 PM
I think that all publicity/evangelising is good. The smart ones will always figure it out and start to use it.

You see, there is a clear market there. All bitcoin nerds are guys. They have the money, and they need something to fap to. Bitcoin removes the middleman here, these girls can just start hosting webcam shows anywhere and ask for tips for bitcoins.
618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: instawallet api functionality problem, plz help! on: May 08, 2012, 06:00:41 AM
The bitcoin address fails to validate, double-check it.
619  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] The Decentralized Bitcoin Exchange on: May 07, 2012, 05:14:42 PM
Really just a more cumbersome alternative to sites like bitcoin.de and bitcoin-otc. What's the point?
620  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: F*%! Linode on: May 07, 2012, 08:07:51 AM
A good hosting service is Hetzner Online: http://www.hetzner.de/

For example, a dedicated server 32GB DDR2, 3TB mirrored storage, 1GBit conenction 59 euros (77 dollars) per month.

A basic VPS is 7,90 eur month (10 dollars).

They don't accept bitcoin as a payment. However hosting is a business of scale - if you really want to use bitcoin vps providers, you have to have other reasons than just the "coolness factor", such as anonymity or something. You can't really compete with Hetzner if you look at the features/price.
