I thought the hard cap is 86000 eth? On the site it says 14000 eth only

Yep, I remember it was around 80K Ethereum. I don’t know why they changed it.

Perhaps because of the huge rise in Ethereum price meanwhile.
On the other side perhaps they should think at prolonging the sale, with so many ICOs around you need time for investors to find you.
602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: December 10, 2017, 06:25:14 PM
Version 2.0 of Byteball wallet released https://github.com/byteball/byteball/releases

It allows to send Bytes by email or via chat apps.  Even if the recipient is not in Byteball yet.

It's the biggest update since the invention of cryptocurrency wallet, more details at https://medium.com/byteball/sending-cryptocurrency-to-email-5c9bce22b8a9

This is totally amazing!
I guess most of the people didn't really grasp its implications, otherwise the price would already be 10X.

Do you also have a BUG bounty for a mistake you have done in the design of your campaign, which is likely to get your bitcointalk threads permanently locked? If yes, PM me.

605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - lowest fee - hybrid fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin on: December 07, 2017, 10:13:28 AM
but without a specific users adaptation, without the presence of other exchangers, without marketing, btx can cost nothing in a month. there are no commits for months on the github .  4% airdrop per week is nothing compared to a 20% drop every day. I have 30 btx 0.0045 btc
This is 4 times the current price. So don't tell people to hold . The risk is really large

Yes, devs SHOULD care about price going down tooooo much.  Esp for concerned investors who have put everything in this and believe in the cause.
What do you want? The Devs aren't responsible for the price, the market alone is. What do you want them to do? You never gave money to the Devs or anything like that. Just keep calm and don't press the panic button.

Exactly. It can be painful if you bought high, but that's the price to pay in cryptos, fortune doesn't come without some pain on the way. On the other side, this is a terrific opportunity to but BTX very cheap, I didn't really think we would get a second chance, but now we have got it.

607  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Distributed Autonomous Government aka DAG on: November 23, 2017, 11:11:16 AM
I am.

Thing is, I believe it's a totally new thing that doesn't really have legs yet. But if the truth be told, I personally think it's the only reasonable way forward for the developed world. Other countries will follow, but much later. I write science fiction so to me it seems perfectly reasonable.

Democracy actually doesn't exist in the sense it was supposed to. We realistically have a choice of just three parties that no matter in the U.S, U.K or western Europe represent the left, right or liberal, these parties pander to the large corporations and must make decisions that are for their benefit after they get into office. These large corporations aren't stupid, they bankroll all of the top three, which is why our nations end up at the wrong end of wars and corps.

the top three then (due to propaganda) are seen as the only viable choices and so therefore receive the lions share of the votes.

I don't think that's great but I also don't see it as the end of the world. Western nations still have a multitude of human rights laws in place that make our lives vastly better than many people living under dictatorships. If you don't believe that's the case, try living in those countries. You'll soon change your mind.

But...

Let's be honest. We don't have any choices after they are elected into office. They do what they want for three years and six months and then suddenly, they are all super nice and useful in the lead up to the election... and we all get collective amnesia about all the crap they did before.

Twenty plus years ago there was no alternative, now, there is. There is no reason why every country's citizen can't have an app or visit a website that gives them a choice as to which areas their tax dollars go to (connected to their ID/NI number/passport), or which major decisions are made with a click of a button. The block chain makes this entirely possible, Counterparty already has this voting system in place with tokens.

There is an arrogance to politics that says the populace are too stupid to make decisions for their own country, but the education level of most developed nations actually speaks of a different reality. We know what we want, it's just no one listens to us.

DAG is not only fair, it is perhaps the only 'truly' democratic decision/development that should be the next step forward for humanity as a whole.

Let's be realistic, we don't want our countries to fall flat on their faces, so we are not going to stop taxation any time soon, but it is our right to decide where our money goes, and national policy.

Do we really need politicians who do not recognize our wishes nor follow through on them?

I am a science fiction authos too. I agree with you. HOWEVER, beware of utopias becoming true, as they may turn out being distopias instead. A 100% democratic society would be ruled by very average people - IQ 100, by definition - but all together they could actually act as little children, as the crowd tends to think and act like that (see Gusave Le Bon's book), ie completely unaware of the consequences of their acts.

609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - BLOOM - ONLINE - new virtual fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin on: November 16, 2017, 02:50:32 PM
BTX has the technical features to eventually replace Bitcoin, even though this is realistically unlikely to happen soon due to the difference in the adoption base that these coins have.
One of the major problems which Bitcoin has, and which nobody ever mentions, is the over 1 Million BTCs allegedly owned by Satoshi Nakamoto, whoever he is - a person or a team or an agency (nobody knows). Whoever helds the keys of those coins has a grip on the future of the coin, being able to destroy its value at will, since dumping just a part of those coins would crash the price to zero. This applies also for all forks of BTC. This is the antithesys of decentralisation, Bitcoin is de facto an instamined coin.
To win in the long term, BTX should be different.
I think that BTX should stop with it's promise to give BTX to BTC users. WHile this has been a good idea for the launch of the coin, it is a very bad idea if some big whale (or the team of Nakamoto) claims its share for the only purpose to be able to crash its value at will, in any future of BTX.

Shut up noob. This is the stupidest comment I've read in 5 years in crypto. May you live forever with your stupidity.

You've got a lot of nerve to say that the comment is stupid. Let me guess, you don't have btx do you? Grin

At the time of the snapshot I will have exactly 34.78792 BTX. lol His comment is just pure stupidity.

Everybody has the right to their own opinions of course. My opinion is that someone who has 34.78792 BTC and is supposedly quite happy to have soon 34.78792 BTX, while he could have so much more BTX by selling just one of his BTCs, is either not exactly a peak of intelligence, or simply waisting his time in the wrong thread about a coin he doesn't really believe in.
PS. Perhaps you could explain us what would happen to the price of BTC if Satoshi would suddenly decide to dump all his 1M$+ coins because he doesn't like his toy any more. Please don't tell us he would not - unless you are Satoshi, you are not in his mind.

Why do you write 1.000.000 of tokens in your bounty headline and then you give only a handful of tokens for the signature campaign? How many bounty hunters do you need to give away 1 million of tokens?

I wish that for such a huge project with so much money and technology involved the crew would be able to setup a social bounty campaign able to check automatically for the links of the bounty hunters, without forcing them to spam this thread.

Unfortunetly i cant join v2 signature cause now im with another campaign.

No, your stakes are already valid if you had 50 posts in the first campaign. You are good.

Do you remember on which day in you have interrupted the first campaign, so that I can count my posts made until then ? Smiley
618  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: October 25, 2017, 11:15:18 AM

Are there any news about the plan/intention of broadcasting the names of the assets created on the Byteball platform? As for now they would appear in the wallet just with their hash, which is scacely useful since it's impossible to brand. I'm eagerly waiting.

I don't see why Byteball would create a brand for you.  I would think that you would create your own brand and advertise it instead of trying to get Byteball to do it for you.  Assets are private by nature (like blackbytes) so there shouldn't be advertising of such.   Maybe I misunderstood what you were hoping to get.  People would then simply create a million assets in hope of getting free advertising for anything/nothing in hopes of being the next millionaire for doing nothing more than pressing a few buttons to get free adverts.

Yes, Michail, I think you misunderstood what I wanted to say or perhaps I did not explain myself properly. I didn't want Byteball to brand my asset, just wanted to be able to do it myself but to do it myself I need the name of my currency to appear in the wallet instead of an unreadable hash. By the way I always read your posts with great pleasure.

Assets will have names very soon, this is currently at the top of the priority list of the devs.

There are private and public assets on Byteball. There is definitely reasons for having public assets that are advertised/promoted (ICO tokens, frequent flier miles, ect.) Blackbytes are an example of a private asset but public assets can also be created.

I didn't know that an user can create BOTH private assets and public assets - so if I'm understanding correctly if you are issuing your own currency on Byteball you can adopt the same strategy bytes is using (bytes/blackbytes) to create your own "couple" os assets - public and private aka "black"?

I think the problem is solved with the 1.11.0 release in principle:
Version 1.11.0 released https://github.com/byteball/byteball/releases
....
In this version, you can also manually attest other users and post arbitrary data into Byteball DAG.  We'll use this data-posting functionality to assign human readable names to tokens issued on Byteball (now they are shown as cryptic hashes).
....

Wow, if this means what I think, perhaps the problem I'm talking about is going to be solved very soon. That's what I am waiting for, since this could be a game changer for Byteball.

Hello Bounty Manager,
Tomorrow morning I will have alas to leave this Spectre signature campaign, to resume the Spectiv campaign which I had joined months ago and which had been frozen back in July for a while. It was a pleasure to take part to such a well organized bounty campaign, and I will join for sure more campaigns run by you in future again. I hope that this weeks stakes can be credited to me, since I've aready made 30 posts or so.
620  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO's in 2018 on: October 24, 2017, 06:17:52 PM
Very difficult to make forecast in this field. They have been almost outlawed in countries like USA and China and Russia is soon to follow. So they may as well disappear in the form we know them now.
