Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bancor | Protocol for Smart-tokens, solving the liquidity problem

I am to this day the only person to have ever merited the Bancor thread. However I must say I'm quite disappointed today as I've tried to stake my BNT rewards inside the bancor app and THREE times in different moments my transaction failed due to an unclear "run out of gas problem", quite odd since I didn't even try to touch any app defaults. This has obvioulsy resulted in me losing tens of $$$ of fees. Contacting support didn't help - they just told me to try in another moment, which I did, thus losing even more money on fees. Blaming the Ethereum network (as support did) doesn't help addressing properly the fact that I've lost money by using the Bancor app.

Thanks but this is Linux and I'm on Windows - the VPS section is not clear for Windows - and since now there is the Windows version of the new wallet I'd expect it to work on windows - does the MN not work without a VPS? When I try to start the MN I con't go beyond the "PRE_ENABLED" status of the MN. At least you need a static ipv4 address... You wanna run ur node at home? Then you need also a device with less power like a raspberry pi or something... On a gaming/working pc its not worth running... My PC is running all the time since I'm using it most of the time anyway and I'm staking other coins as well - so that's not an issue. As for the static IP I can use a VPN and that will make it static. Still, why can't I get over the status of "PRE_ENABLED" MN?

If Bitcore is aiming at mass adoption as it claims (a better and improved Bitcoin etc), perhaps the team should stop treating it as a for-nerds-only coin. I have a BTX bag but at the moment I am not able to mine BTX, to have a masternode running for staking (the max I get is MN to be "PRE_ENABLED" whatever this means), and even to transfer it to Ellipal - yes, I've tried to send some to the Ellipal wallet but it doesn't show up there. So WTF? Asking for help on Telegram or elsewhere is pointless because nobody gives a fuck, it is increasingly obvious to me that BTC is becoming a tech-onanistic pastime for a bounch of nerds, which alas is not exactly a promise for wider adoption. Zero instructions on how to setup a masternode, zero help for non functioning issues, coins sent to Ellipal getting lost and nobody giving a fuck. This is the state of this project now.

I've just got a plutus card, which I've requested seeing the quite amazing cashback features. But I now realize these features are only available to premium members who pay a monthly fee. And I have a basic account since ATM I'm not planning a big monthly cashflow. So which exactly would be the reason to own a Plutus card with just a basic account?
Hey there! Our 'Starter' account holders still have the ability to convert their crypto securely and instantly using our decentralised exchange, the PlutusDEX. You'll still grab a European IBAN or UK Account Number and Sort Code. The main difference is that you won't earn PLU Rewards for all of your card spending. However, currently (and we intend to do this more often!), we have our July Amazon Promotion which has been extended through August. All users, regardless of account type, can earn 5% back in PLU on their Amazon spending by following the instructions hereIn fact even though I've got just a basic plutus card, I've now realised I own a few hundreds PLU which I've bought in January 2018 and have been sitting in a MEW since - but I didn't find a clear explanation in the website on how exactly the staking process works, where to move the coins and if the coins get locked and for how long and stuff, nor which precise benefits one gets with the different amounts of PLU staked... still a quite obscure matter.

I'm very interested in this project, but no matter how much I'm reading about I still didn't properly get where all the supposedly thousands of terabytes of the videos are stored and how. I guess they should be stored in a decentralized way in thousands of users PCs, but didn't get any clear infos on that. Are they stored as full files or in chunks? With which redundancy for the cases nodes go offline? WHich incentives would people get to host some of the library's files (if that is the way of storing). And I really don't understand why you don't have a clear and easy to find one pager in your website explaining these simple facts in a way that people have actually a chance to understand what LBRY actually is. I've been occasionally coming back to ypur website for WEEKS now in the hope to uderstand something, but I didn't yet. Which obviouslly prevents me to start using your platform. I guess I'm not the only one.

Danke

I've just noticed the news: Any instructions on how to make one or more Bitcore masternodes on WINDOWS? If that is not possible are there any MN servers to rent? Is there anywhere a real discussion on all these changes? Didn't find it yet.
PS. I had posted this message yesterday but some moderator who obviously has not clue on what's going on with Bitcore had deleted it, believen it's spam. WTF?

If you are worried about a three letter agency having the resources to be able to set up and maintain enough Tor entry guards that you are likely to use one (and enough Tor exit nodes to be able to deanonymize your traffic), then said agency is not going to be stopped by a $5 a month VPN provider.
That's not an assumption I'd necessarily make. With Tor, you're getting a "random" Tor node, weighted to favor high-bandwidth nodes and by other factors. If you choose a VPN in a trustworthy country, with a trustworthy record, then that's potentially safer. Attacks to covertly fill Tor with attacker nodes have been done in the past (see section 5.1 for the most interesting info). Attackers don't need to get anywhere near filling Tor 50% with their nodes, since you pick random nodes all the time: just 2 attacker nodes can be enough, though with low probability. Also, Tor is fundamentally a centralized network: you can't be a Tor node on the mainnet Tor network without the approval of the Tor directory authorities. The authorities are run by people associated with, and using rules largely set by, the Tor Project. I don't know if I really believe this, but considering how weak Tor is compared to the state-of-the-art research and how poorly-thought-out the Tor Project's overall strategy has tended to be, I've thought that Tor could be an incredibly subtle "controlled opposition" operation. It wouldn't be necessary to control every single person in the Project, just influence things enough to make progress in less important rather than more important directions, slightly bias directory authorities in sane- looking ways which actually help attackers, etc. (I admit that this is quite the conspiracy theory.) The term "conspiracy theory" is itself a psyop invention, a magic expression designed to have the power of aborting any discussion just by introducing the dogmatic judgement that someone is a paranoic crackpot, thus unabler to think clearly. Apart from this, I agree on everything. In fact, if THEY CAN infiltrate and control the Tor project, why wouldn't they actually do it? If they can, be sure that they will do it - or more likely, that they've already done it.

This is an entirely fabricated media story, exploiting the sincere passion of an unfortunate girl, for reasons that most of the people would not even suspect. Come on, guys, in France you have had tens of thousands of people demostrating on the streets for over one year - tens of which got even killed by police - and they did not get even a fraction of Greta's media coverage. You will understand what's really at stake in this media driven story when it will be already too late.

This is truly an excellent guide to the use of the Trust system, and for the first time in years I've *almost* understood how it works. LoyceV has well done a much needed job. But I can't but agree with what others have pointed out, that the Trust system of the forum is in itself too complicated to be widely adopted - which is leading to a quite unsolvable problem: to really work well, the Trust system should be widely used by most of the community, but it being so complicated this will likely never happen, unless a way is found to make it a bit simpler. I'll make some attempts to start to use it.
