361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EMC2] Einsteinium | FUNDING THE FUTURE WITH THE FUTURE OF CURRENCY on: April 27, 2018, 10:37:43 PM
I get depressed seeing things like non developer coins are taking off and we're barely move

it is interesting to see a user with legendary status putting comments like this

how about you go back, think a little bit, and come back with the new statement

Why should he? He's right you know. So many crap projects out there are gaining value for no discernible reason and will be gone before you know it while EMC2 with a full team of developers is always playing catch up. At the moment, the market likes "new and flashy" not experienced and useful. It is a shame but, it won't last forever. The value of this project will shine eventually...

I am not saying that he is not right about crap projets rising in value, but I expect that whoever is in crypto for more than one year should know the mechanisms behind it

A lot of newcomers are looking for the next "get rich quick" coins.

The problem is that by "quick" they mean weeks, they cannot even wait month, and let's not even mention years. In spite of being far from ATH now EMC2 is still 10-20X higher than one years ago.
362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES - Complete Blockchain ecosystem for a token economy on: April 27, 2018, 08:02:20 PM
How does Waves do when it comes to transactions per second?

I think it beats Ethereum by far. It has been recently upgraded and it should be one of the fastest platforms now. Let's see what will happen as they will introduce smart contracts, which should happen rather soon.
363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WEBD] 🌍 WebDollar - Currency of the Internet | Mining directly in browser on: April 27, 2018, 07:29:12 PM
Today I have spent the whole day mining at the same address with two i7 PCs, one 8-core and one 4-core, and have managed not to find a single block. Not even one. This is really throwing away electricity, these powerful CPUs consume a lot and in my country electricity is expensive like hell. I will give it a few hours more but at some point I'll have to cut the losses and stop mining. It will be cheaper to buy the coins mined by others.

EDIT: After 14 hours I have finally found a block. So I will keep the PC on Smiley

Glad to have been promoted to Echelon 3, and happy to be able to help you testing this amazing project. Since as Echelon 3 I can mine with two devices I have just launched the mining also on my Iphone 6.

@numanoid

I am not sure about listing on new exchange, but Dylan said that Spectiv finalized a major deal lately (he couldn't tell more) and we know about FOX Business airing soon. Also Signal Marketplace V2 is scheduled to be released on May 2nd. Since now we have a real product and lots of good press maybe some big exchange will add SIGs, who knows.

These could be the reasons beyond the recent significat raise in price. A delivering project, finally. Can't wait to see it reaching the first milestones.
366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WEBD] 🌍 WebDollar - Currency of the Internet | Mining directly in browser on: April 26, 2018, 04:35:00 PM
Mining for a while now with my laptop and never finding a block. Since difficulty will supposedly only raise in future, and people will be less and less likely to find blocks and to earn coins as time goes by, why should they actually want to mine? If on the first day it is already so difficult to actually mine any coins, how on earth can this project even think to be scalable to mass adoption?

During the first aborted launch I had written these lines. A pity my concern was not taking into consideration by the devs, since now the situation seems even worse, with most of the people not finding any blocks. Most of them will soon will lose motivation for mining.

We will have soon pools. Just need some patience from miners. Untill first pools appeared in Bitcoin no one was lefting mining BTC just because it is hard to mine.

When bitcoin started there was no where near 1000 miners. Let alone 500. or even 250.
You had a test-net for awhile with people mining, then on your first launch you saw a lot more miners than expected, to the point you delayed the launch by 8 days. So you had a good idea of what to expect come official launch.

Moreover, the first Bitcoin miners where moving in uncharted territory. We are in a different age now, these are known problems, and to refuse to learn from past experiences is stupid. And your declared mission was to go beyond Bitcoin - towards mass adoption. Too bad your actions are not coherent with that mission. Starting with solo mining where almost nobody gets rewards will select only a tiny group of nerds, willing to spend a lot of money in electricity for just the hope of hitting some blocks. That's the CONTRARY of mass adoption.

With already working pools, as it had been suggested, it would have been a great launch. Instead, it's just a huge wasted occasion. Now you will have to swim against the tide.
367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WEBD] 🌍 WebDollar - Currency of the Internet | Mining directly in browser on: April 25, 2018, 08:06:21 PM
Will people with a higher performing CPU or mining card be able to mine more coins with their computer? I'm asking because if the answer is yes I guess most of the mining will soon shift to mining rigs and in which case bye bye decentralization.

I am still with Echelon 4 and I have reached my max coin already a long time ago, could you please review my account and possibly raise it to Echelon 3? That would be great.

I was away from home for almost 3 weeks and tried mining on my phone but didn't get on with it.  I think the problem was using a web browser instead of an app.  I like how easy the Electroneum app makes it to use their mining simulation.  A simple app that you open, press one button to start mining and that is easy to keep open might be a good option for HADRON?

Yes sharpshot, we are also planning to develop native apps for mining in the future!

Just FYI, Electroneum mobile mining is not actually doing real computations, per this message from Richard Ells (Electroneum's Founder):

The mobile miner is completely revolutionary way to earn cryptocurrency by "mining" on your phone. In fact your phone isn't really doing the hard work of mining the coins, that's already done - this is a mining experience. "What's that?!", I hear you say, well, our mining experience looks like a miner, feels like a miner and pays out real Electroneum cryptocurrency, just like a complex command line miner running on a linux computer - BUT all you need to do is click the "START MINING" button on a free app to earn cryptocurrency! These coins are nothing to do with the coins emitted by the blockchain as part of the blockchain reward. Blockchain miners are still vitally important to Electroneum, but full mining is too complex for the average user. The mobile miner is a separate algorithm that rewards users with ETN cryptocurrency at no cost.

That'a an interesting information, which points to the fact that Hadron is going to be technologically superior to Electroneum. Good!

The current block is over 2150
OMG
I get connection error on block 550-600. So I missed 1500 blocks to mine. Is it fair launch when not all user can mine because of network error ?!

And I'm still can't mine - no connection, "Synchronizing"...

No, it is not fair, and if the team won't reset the game and start it in a FAIR way once they are technically ready, they will lose a big part of their community and they will be blamed for a long time for this bad and unfair launch.
372  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S firmware update 1.4.1 on: April 13, 2018, 01:59:20 PM
After checking on this thread and solving the driver problem (USB-device with a yellow explaination mark) in fact after a while I have managed to complete the update, and now my Nano Ledger S is fully working again. However, still it is a shame that support of Nano Ledger would not point to this solution in their how-to instructions on their website and we had to come here to find a solution. Many thanks of course to those who have posted the solution here.

While it is true that ledger should have this solution posted in their FAQ, this problem is not related to the nano s itself.
It is a problem with the combination of the nano s and windows.

As far as i know this problem does not occur on linux/mac systems. Only windows is affected.

But I must say that after a few hours of having sent a support request I have received from them an email with the correct solution. I had already solved the problem, but this means they are actually supportive. What they would have done, as you say, is to prevent all these losses of time by placing the info in their FAQ.
373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 13, 2018, 12:21:00 PM

Ripple did this several years ago. This was fun, but they stopped it because this giveaway was gamed like hell by guys who had access to HPC clusters. I got a lot of XRP renting AWS compute instances Smiley

Did too.  This could be easily managed by only making payments to Byteball verified accounts (Jumio), and limiting the payouts to a reasonable amount of computing power. What Tony needs is a lot of people with small rigs, not a few people with huge rigs.

Great idea if it will be fine tuned so as to be reasonably sure than nobody will be able to rig the system - as it often happens when there are givaways. We have recently seen it happening with the Byteball quiz.
374  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Breaking The Ledger Security Model on: April 13, 2018, 12:09:03 PM
Saleem Rashid writes on the vulnerability he discovered in Ledger hardware wallets. The vulnerability arose due to Ledger’s use of a custom architecture to work around many of the limitations of their Secure Element.

The vulnerability could be used to mount a supply chain attack.

It is recommended you update your Ledger to the latest version.

https://saleemrashid.com/2018/03/20/breaking-ledger-security-model/

This is Ledger's official response:
https://www.ledger.fr/2018/03/20/firmware-1-4-deep-dive-security-fixes/

Thanks to the link to Ledger's official response, it gives a lot of useful information. I have now updated the Ledger to the laters version, even though the update itself didn't run smoothly, a problem of drivers on window had stalled eveything for hours.
375  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: User-friendly Ledger Nano S? Not! on: April 13, 2018, 12:04:48 PM
Ledger will be releasing a desktop and mobile app in Q2 2018. All the coins will be available in one app, you can also use Ethereum and ERC20 without using a third party service (MEW).

This will be big, I guess. In fact the current situation is quite annoying, you cannot have too many apps on the ledger so if you have many classes of assets it is a pain to jump from one to another. Hopefully their upcoming app will handle whatever new coins they will be going to support.
376  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: HELP - Ledger Nano S Apps not opening after update ? on: April 13, 2018, 12:02:17 PM
Many people have reported a problem with Ledger drivers,so if you are on Windows go to Control Panel\System and Security\System >Device manager and then under Human Interface Devices - USB Input Device you should remove any device with yellow mark. After that open again Ledger Manager and connect the Ledger.
377  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S firmware update 1.4.1 on: April 13, 2018, 11:56:04 AM
Same shit happening to me - this is a shame, now I cannot access my funds any more, everything is blocked. This is NOT what one would expect from a product like Nano Ledger.

Did you actually check the device manager if one USB-device has a yellow explaination mark beside it?
If so, you simply need to open the properties and 'install the driver' (windows USB-driver; should be done automatically by windows).

If this is not the case: Are you able to access the ledger manager? Or is your nano s completely stuck?

If you really need to access your funds asap, you can simply import your seed into another wallet (e.g. electrum [1]).
But consider your seed as compromised from this moment on. When moving your funds back to the ledger, you should create a new seed.

378  Local / Annunci / Re: POW token on: April 13, 2018, 11:42:08 AM
Ci sono novità sul fatto di convertire i PoW lite token (ERC20 token basati su blockchain Ethereum) nelle coin PoW Token provvisti di propria blockchain?

In arrivo per fine febbraio il ponte tra POW lite e POW ERC20
https://twitter.com/POWtoken/status/964607186969051136
https://twitter.com/POWtoken/status/964608223847182336

Campa cavallo che l'erba cresce, si diceva una volta. Il ponte viene promesso di mese in mese e non arriva mai. Mi sa che gli sviluppatori sono dei dilettanti.

This tweet tells it all:

https://twitter.com/CryptoEnthusia/status/971731975412338688

The Hadron community is rising and rising!
Are there any available data on the actual size and growth rate of the community?

The community, as evident from the telegram group, is growing slowly as the main focus is on testing the browser based miner. Once we start the beta phase, we should see a faster growth curve. You can also see continuous posts to register for the beta test. That is a good indicator of the health of the project.
yes, my personal view is also same. once the beta test initiated, more and more member will try to follow this project. with the new developments it will come to a strong phase. Another point is most members are concentrated on reaching their mining caps.

Very well. Once we will have the final and stable release open to everybody I forecast a rather fast explosion in user adoption, since everybody would be happy to be able to mine with the hardware they already have, versus buying expensive cards or asics.
380  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: If I lost my 24-word phrase for ledger nano s on: April 13, 2018, 11:34:49 AM
To those of you that say its the worst idea to write the 24 word seed in gmail... i would agree with this because someone could hack your account.  However, if you use say lastpass or keepass and then put the seed in either program, isn't that pretty safe?  Thus the hacker would not only need to know your gmail address, they need your gmail password.  Then they would need your password to either your lastpass or keepass.  So wouldn't that be pretty safe?  Or that could still be hacked?

Because they would have to go through 2 layers of security right?  Also isn't it true if someone logs into your gmail account from another location, gmail would block them if they don't recognize the ip address or country etc?  So wouldn't that be another hurdle for that hacker?  And even if they get through that, how could they hack the password for lastpass or keepass then?  Are there cases of this?  Because i have heard of cases where someone types their seed and emails it to their gmail account like in plain letters... that is bad since its not even encrypted.  But with lastpass or keepass, isn't that pretty safe then?

The thing is shouldn't you always have a digital backup?  Because in case something happens physically to your items?

I do not know why you ever think about it,private key or seed should never be stored in e-mail account no matter how this email is protected. When you get your seed from hardware device or desktop wallet write it down on a piece of paper and make several copies.Since paper is it is not fire and water resistant and ink can blur with time it would not be bad to engrave seed in piece of metal or plastic.

Just for info,Gmail will not block hacker or you to access to your e-mail form different IP address, they will only send you warning that someone is try to log in from different device/IP, something like a warning to a suspicious activity.

The whole point which makes Nano Ledger so much more safe than a password protected wallet on your computer is that by storing your Ledgeryour  seed offline even in the case of hackers intruding in your computer they cannot get your private key. But if you store the seed on your computer, all safety is gone.
