6001  Other / Meta / Re: At what point does feedback spam warrant a ban / nuking? on: November 13, 2019, 01:20:29 PM
I am 1 of the profiles he has been leaving negs on. He's doing it to every account that has supported a flag against him. You're not the 1st to complain and the staff hasn't done anything yet. Guess we just deal with it and move on.

But I can keep complaining.
Here is the new thing [OK, I don't know if it's new or I just noticed it] GP is deleting old feedback and posting new feedback.

It was quoted earlier in this thread but:

Trust spam isn't allowed. If I see anyone posting dozens of fake trust ratings (from one account or many alt accounts), I will delete all of their ratings. But Inaba is hiring multiple people to create these ratings. It is impossible for me to determine whether these ratings are "real" or not, so I'm not going to delete them. (Obviously all negative ratings are very likely to be fake, but I'm not going to guess about this.)

I agree that it is a little annoying to see a wall of negative ratings, but this is in the "untrusted" section. The way things are set up currently, untrusted ratings can be easily spammed in a number of ways. That's why those ratings are hidden by default.

Now if this is not trust spam I don't know what is.

Also, remember keep poking this troll not trolls in general just this one. Why? Because the more you poke him the less time he has to steal from anyone else.

[Most people can stop reading here]

The main reason I think this guy is worse then others is he is going after people who may have already been ripped off by a casino / gambling site. They are already stressed and worried and he is taking advantage of that. There have been many many many scams in the crypto world and there will be many many many more. But if you are just looking to make a buck and get ripped off that is bad. Very bad. Going after people who already got ripped off and trying to steal more money from them is WORSE IMO.
Dave's view. YMMV on how you feel about it.

6002  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Mempool / Current number of transactions question on: November 12, 2019, 11:09:20 PM
So I noticed it before and did not really think about it but they all show a different number of pending transactions in the mempool.
All are on the same block. But as of now they run from ~400 to ~750 pending transactions. The last block 603381 cleared the mempool.

HCP / Carlton / whoever else.

Yes I know mempools will never be identical.
That is not what I was asking. I can accept 10% even 30% differences between them. What was odd and the gist of my question was should 1 node have almost 2x more transactions then the node next to it.

The answer seems to be yes from what all of you have said. They can be wildly different.
It just seems like a big variance. Which was why I asked.

I probably could have been clearer in how I asked it, that's on me. Sorry about that, I was doing too many things at once.

6003  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Mempool / Current number of transactions question on: November 12, 2019, 07:48:35 PM
I have 2 guess :
1. Gossip protocol in Bitcoin isn't perfect where there's no guarantee a transaction will be received by all nodes
2. Some of your devices might have firewall which limit or block connection between node

Going to have to go with #1
The nodes are all behind their own firewalls, but they are all clones of one another. So in that respect they should all be the same.
Looking now they are all within 10 transactions of each other. It was just really weird to see such a difference yesterday with an empty mempool.

Not going to worry about it unless I see it again and can look to see what is different at that moment.

6004  Economy / Collectibles / Re: (UPDATE) .999 silver BTC themed playing cards, (DIAMONDS +JOKERS) (UPDATE) on: November 12, 2019, 05:25:35 PM
They have arrived.
Sorry about the crappy picture. I think I can actually hear Corrosive crying at the quality of the image. What can I say, I spend all my money on BTC stuff and none on a digital cameras.
So, anyone else want to show off their cards?

I'll try to get some better pictures later.

Waiting for the next suit.

6005  Other / Meta / Re: At what point does feedback spam warrant a ban / nuking? on: November 12, 2019, 01:02:18 PM
And another 12 left as of 13:00 UTC today.
Yes I'm still here posting in this thread, and yes I still feel like I am talking to myself.
But I will keep commenting on it until some mod does something or tells me to stop.

It's really that simple. All @theymos or any other mod has to say is "Dave, stop it we are not banning him, let it go"
And you know what, I'll let it go. Until that point, I'll keep poking the bear.

6006  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Game-Protect.com did not refund my money and stopped replying to my emails on: November 12, 2019, 12:42:32 PM
After your brain substantiated that Game Protect is a scam / show, would not you withdraw your 7 pending enforcement cases?

(September) My suspicion substantiated when he asked me to borrow him €10. For the second time.

Or would you want Game Protect continue to enforce your 7 claims towards sportsbooks?

Creating or supporting a scammer flag is actively affirming a set of pretty clear fact-statements. If someone knowingly supports a flag containing incorrect fact-statements, then that is crystal-clear abuse, and I will seek to have such people removed from DT ASAP. People who are habitually wrong, even not knowingly, should also be removed.
The below extremely mentally ill and or brain dead bitcointalk accounts persist to abuse the trust system with knowingly supporting the incorrect fact-statement that Game Protect violated a written contract, resulting in damages, around July 2019, but are not able to show the alleged written contract!

Quote
h4ns alleges: game-protect violated a written contract, resulting in damages, in the specific act referenced here. game-protect did not make the victims of this act roughly whole, AND it is not the case that all of the victims forgave the act. It is not grossly inaccurate to say that the act occurred around July 2019. No previously-created flag covers this same act, unless the flag was created with inaccurate data preventing its acceptance.

$38,000 now. You do abide by your agreements don't you? Also, who is "The Parmasist"? Is he like a superhero with the powerful smell of Parmesan cheese? I am demanding immediate payment for your licensing fees and penalties. I have the contract right here.

Don't forget to open up a flag against him for not honoring the contract.
Since game-protect is just a scammer and takes peoples money you will probably never collect but it's always good to make sure that everyone knows they are a scammer.
Just in case they missed all the other evidence.

6007  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Mempool / Current number of transactions question on: November 12, 2019, 02:08:07 AM
All the nodes should have different peers, so the mempool contents will never be identical, so diagnosis normal.

However, maybe you've changed the minimum relay amount on some of them? Or, do some run 24/7, while others are shutdown for any length of time? Those factors will contribute to how full a given node's mempool is, and/or how full it can potentially be. Plus, the propagation logic is subtle, it certainly doesn't try to get every tx relayed to all peers ASAP.

Cool, thanks. I just saw them all drop to 0 and a few minutes later all had wildly different numbers. If one was at 450 and another at 460 and the others also in that range then I would not think twice but 400 to 750 just seemed way off.

Nope, outside of the basic changes on one node to the conf file to run electrum all have no settings in the conf file outside of an addnode= the cable ip or in the case of the cable node it points back to the electrum node.

All are up 24/7
Probably not important in the real world, I had just never seen it before.

How often do you really look at the mempool on your nodes.

Thanks,
Dave
6008  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Mempool / Current number of transactions question on: November 12, 2019, 12:49:47 AM
So I have 4 nodes running in my office.
One is for my electrum server, 2 are just there to play with and the 4th is on a cable modem as an off network test node.

So I noticed it before and did not really think about it but they all show a different number of pending transactions in the mempool.
All are on the same block. But as of now they run from ~400 to ~750 pending transactions. The last block 603381 cleared the mempool.

Earlier today I noticed a similar thing, but figured it was just the lag of me going from one server to the next. But now with 4 consoles up I see it in real time.

Is this normal or do I have a config or other issue someplace?

Thanks,
Dave

Oh look another 75+ feedbacks posted on the 10th.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=874254;page=sent;offset=0

And yet, he is still here.

Makes you wonder if he has a script to bang them out or if he is sitting there copy / pasting them in one at a time.

I know, ignore the troll. I know, if for whatever reason he has not earned a ban by now he is probably not going to get one.

I can still bitch about it.

Has anyone heard from Jean_Luc at all?
The last time he logged in here was Aug 19th, the last time he was active on github was a few days after that.

He could have wandered off to another project, (and he did say he was getting busy) but it's rare that people just walk away like that.

6016  Economy / Goods / Re: Payment options Segwit / Compatibility / Legacy / Other Coins on: November 10, 2019, 04:03:23 PM
I don't see how anyone gets to tell you what to accept (or not accept). Your (sales) topic, your rules.

They were implying that since I did not offer a Segwit option they would not bid.
Personally I think they were just being a troll but it did make me think a bit.

Also, there are some people who are BTC only and all other coins are evil.
So then you wind up in the loop of. "If I offer more coins more people might bid, but the people who are 100% BTC and all other coins are evil, might not bid"

Just looking for other views. Mine is as I said, so long as I can exchange it for what I want, who cares.

-Dave
6017  Economy / Goods / Payment options Segwit / Compatibility / Legacy / Other Coins on: November 10, 2019, 03:19:18 PM
When selling stuff here I tend just to post Legacy addresses.
Sometimes I will post a Segwit one too.

Someone just pointed out that I should only be posting native segwit.
I pointed out that it's my money and how I want to take it is up to me and they should go away.

What do the rest of you think?

Seriously since there are so many ways to quickly change from 1 coin to another and other options I can put up 10 forms of payment.

Without the hostility to other coins, if I can change 400,000 doge into .1125BTC in less time then it took me to post this do many of you really care?

If I need to convert to USD to pay some bills Coinbase will take my ETH just as easily as LTC or BTC or BCH or a few others.

6018  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: More bad news for Microbt CEO is being held for questioning!. on: November 10, 2019, 03:00:55 PM
Yeah, in the below article it says that Bitmain CEO is back to 'save the ship'! Is Bitmain really in that much trouble it could go under?

I put that more under the title of "Standard Press Release" when a new CEO comes in.

Kind of like when Brian Niccol came in to Chipotle as CEO last year. The company was doing OK, but far from as well as it should be doing.
But he was there to save them from the food contamination issues (already fixed) and the stagnation (was a work in progress at the time)
Because a press release saying, "We are doing OK, but this change will make you forget about our past mistakes" does not read as well.

I don't see this as any different.

6019  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Non smartphone wallet on: November 10, 2019, 02:46:54 PM
The btc.com wallet will work on Android 4.2
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blocktrail.mywallet

And the bitpie wallet will work on Android 4.0
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitpie

I don't think you are going to find anything that still is supported on Android 3.x

Can you give a little more detail on what you are looking for?
And why? Someone might have an idea as to another solution.

6020  Other / Meta / Re: At what point does feedback spam warrant a ban / nuking? on: November 10, 2019, 01:59:25 PM
Sooner or later this clown is going to have to be dealt with.
Do you think GP would bother about that, I really do not think so, Infact he'll be enjoying the attention he is getting, this trolls love it when more threads are made about them, it helps them to stay relevant, I'll ask you to let it slide, ignore GP till theymos decides he has had enough, though theymos has such an elastic temper, so that may happen in a very long time.

As I posted elsewhere, the more we engage him here the less time he has to try to steal from other people.
Yeah, it's close to a 0% chance that it will happen again that someone will fall for his scam, but if he is here then he is not elsewhere trying to get peoples money.
