6001  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the most influential crypto websites? on: November 30, 2017, 07:53:04 PM
Your not going to get much more influential that this forum, there are some respectable people who post here that have been involved in Bitcoin fundamentally. The most influential developers of bitcoin core, used to use the forum for posting updates and discussion of the current state of the client. Hal finney, who was one of the most inspirational and influential used the forum.

6002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recover wallet through public address/possibly private + password? on: November 30, 2017, 07:07:15 PM
Since reformatting your phone, did you continue using the phone? And did you write much data to it?

There is a chance, albeit small that the wallet was not overwritten when you formatted your phone, you might be able to use a data recovery program (e.g Recuva) to retrieve the old wallet file.

For now, stop using the phone as the more you use it, the higher the chance it gets overwritten.

I'd say casually. I don't do something crazy with my phone. Phone calls and surfing on the web when need be & listen to music. That's about it I think.

Thank you for the info! How would I proceed to use Recuva on my phone?

You could just take the SD card out of the phone, and use Recuva on your computer to try and recover the files. This will likely be quicker as recovery processes with a deep scan can take hours depending on the side of the card. Just make sure you demount the card properly to avoid corruption and give the best chance of recovering any files which may be on there.

I've managed to recover fairly old files that were stored on a phone which was constantly being used, although not all the files were recovered a large enough portion of them were. It's surprising how much data you can save even if you have used the hard drive since the data has been lost.
6003  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cannot Cancel Order on Bittrex: Invalid_Order with no btc or alt balance on: November 30, 2017, 07:00:56 PM
Last Friday during a Tix pump I tried to cancel my order because I saw it was going to higher.   It went much higher but my order did not get filled but should have.   So now I have no Tix(Blocktix altcoin) on the sell side or BTC on the buy side.   I only have the Tix that was on order stuck in reserves.  The order should have filled.

But now it shows I have an open order which I cannot cancel.   It gives me the message:  Can not cancel order:Invalid_Order.   I contacted Bittrex support days ago and of course just the usual bot response.   But that was all the money I had.  I have no BTC or any other alt coin to trade with on such a opportune time.   I have been pulling my hair out all weekend.

Is there something I can do on my end?  Has anyone had this happen to them?  And what happened?  Do I just wait weeks on support?  If they just give me the Tix back I am in a big loss since it went back down.   I would rather have the BTC that my order got filled at, or should have got filled.   Any thoughts?  Help please.

That's weird. I have the éxact same thing. Same coin, same pump. I made screenshots and sent to Bittrex. No response... Money stuck and lost a bunch now. Really unhappy with this.

I will respond if it gets resolved. It's clearly an f-up in their database.

In my experience they do normally resolve any issues that is their fault, and it may take up to a week to actually get a response and for them to refund your funds. You shouldn't lose any money, so don't worry about that.

Sorry man, but i have never experienced or seen such error before. only bittrex support can do something about it. their support is really slow. i opened a ticket 3 weeks ago, still haven't received any response from them.

You might want to contact them again, I've never had a ticket not get responded to more than 12 days. Maybe, close your current ticket and open a new one just in case there was an issue with the ticket creation and they haven't seen it.
6004  Economy / Digital goods / Re: SELLING MY POKER WEBSITE FOR 1.25 BTC OR OFFER, THANKS on: November 30, 2017, 06:57:38 PM
Your going have to provide a little more information than you have if you want anyone to be genuinely interested. You haven't provided any information about whether anything has been staked or how many visitors you are getting per month. Of course, if you are just starting up and haven't had anything staked or viewers then you need to provide the evidence that this cost you 20k and you are indeed the owner of the site.

Also anyone who does go ahead and purchase this, please use an escrow.
6005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is it possible to recover bitcoin from a wiped hard drive? on: November 30, 2017, 06:02:36 PM
It's potentially possible, but very unlikely that all the data hasn't been overwritten, especially if you have used the hard drive since. Are you sure you haven't made a back up of the private key? Because, it's going to be very unlikely that you will be able to recover the wallet.dat files.
6006  Other / Meta / Re: Moving to Cloudflare on: November 30, 2017, 04:44:35 PM
I suspect there may be many members like me who don't really care if their posts or messages are read. If I need to make some confidential arrangements with somebody, then I would do this away from the forum. My primary concern is the protection of my posting. You may not agree with my opinions and ideas, but at least they are mine, and I don't want anybody pretending to be me to post other information, or to perpetrate any fraud. Anything that helps to reduce spam and malicious attacks is good in my opinion.
Everyone should be concerned about privacy, especially storing things in plain text. Compromises have to be done though to assure the stability of the server. It's sad that this protection is also under a monopoly and really only one company can protect against it or has the resources too. Nothing has changed in terms of personal messages though as any sensitive messages should have already been encrypted.
6007  Other / Meta / Re: Thank you too! on: November 29, 2017, 10:55:48 PM
BTT forums in a nutshell.

In fact, it was pretty obvious that something like this would happen (it always happens).

OP, can you lock this thread so we don't get every fucking newbie member coming here and shitposting?  You got your answer, and it should be clear to anyone here how to get that userID #.  Thank you.
A few hours later: 21 new replies.

I know right... Post Farming is getting insane on Bitcointalk. I've been inactive for some time, but I don't remember there being so much of this post farming a couple months ago?

I mean... There was some, but it wasn't really a plague. This is just insane.

I hope it gets reduced one way or the other soon too... Would be nice to have some cleaners around here.

It's just going to keep on increasing, if the price or Bitcoin keeps on going in an upward fashion. Moderators do their best, and a lot of the members around here must be reporting hundreds of reports a day. It's not going to be stopped until the signature campaigns and bounties are combated against. Perhaps hilariousandco's suggestion is worth looking into.
6008  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Need Help Stuck Transaction on: November 28, 2017, 10:34:47 PM
There's a number of different services over at the services section, which offer to accelerate your transactions for free. There's also a few mining pools around the internet which also offer this service as long as your fee isn't too low. Although, in the future assure you set the recommended fee to avoid this problem again.
6009  Economy / Reputation / Re: ICO SPAMMER LIST EXPOSED --> PRANK TURNS OUT WELL on: November 28, 2017, 11:44:45 AM
I think it's safe to say that migueltiu accounts are all connected, why would he have a spreadsheet of members, and their addresses otherwise? Mysterious01 is in the spreadsheet and also confirmed he's in control of a lot of the accounts on the spreadsheet.

Thank you for showing that to the community. Just be careful, because some accounts only contacted you by asking the credibility of your promises. Also I don't think you're allowed to expose private messages in the forum? Anyway congrats for the job.

I doubt any account here contacted him for seeing the credibility are you trying to defend one of your alt accounts up there?.It was either to scam the user or to actually carry out the job for them, both unethical.
6010  Economy / Reputation / Re: ICO SPAMMER LIST EXPOSED --> PRANK TURNS OUT WELL on: November 28, 2017, 11:39:18 AM

Quote the images then read through them. The accounts will forever be there and won't go anywhere. Look at images & the google spreadsheet (archived if taken down already). From there on you can see that there is an amount being payed to each user + you can link the amount up from the spreadsheet. The rest of the accounts are just those who contacted me...

EDIT - NEW:

I'm taking a look through all of the images now, and the spreadsheet has been made private already, so it's a good thing it was archived. At the moment it seems, Klf, and thinkdifferent have confirmed the accounts are connected by private messaging you on both of them and confirming that it's one person.

I've also got the archive from last night that I saved before going to sleep:

6011  Economy / Reputation / Re: ICO SPAMMER LIST EXPOSED --> PRANK TURNS OUT WELL on: November 28, 2017, 11:27:17 AM
Unfortunately, the way you went about this and promising to pay upfront, probably means some of these accounts aren't connected, and the users who messaged you might of been there to scam.
The end result in either case is a negative rating. Unless you mean to imply that we don't tag attempted scammers? Almost all of these account are surely connected. I need more time to process the whole list.

Attempted scammers should receive a negative, at the very least the accounts that messaged were either looking to scam, or looking to participate in what many would see as an unethical practice. I think an in depth look into the alternative accounts needs to be done though to see if there is any other evidence supporting this.

I agree with you that almost all these accounts, will be connected and controlled by the same person, but due caution needs to be taken to assure that they are.
6012  Economy / Reputation / Re: ICO SPAMMER LIST EXPOSED --> PRANK TURNS OUT WELL on: November 28, 2017, 11:21:22 AM
Unfortunately, the way you went about this and promising to pay upfront, probably means some of these accounts aren't connected, and the users who messaged you might of been there to scam. Especially some of the accounts which haven't received any trust. You should of got the accounts to prove they are connected, before exposing the list.

6013  Other / Meta / Re: Prohibiting newbies from starting a topic on: November 27, 2017, 02:46:03 PM
I don't think the newbies are the biggest problem currently. It's the masses of "seasoned" accounts spamming to get paid through their signature campaigns. I've already contacted a few of the signature managers highlighting a few members. Newbies are going to ask questions which have been asked before just like any other forum. If we prevent them from creating their own threads, like Foxpup said they would just ask it in an existing thread which could lead to topics becoming congested (if they aren't already) and off topic.

Regarding newbie jail, and the arguments to reopen it, I'm going to quote SaltySpitoon:

Ehh, I was a moderator luckily only for a few months with the whitelist system, and it was not fun. I remember going through newbie jail, I dont think it had a post requirement at the time, I just left Bitcointalk open for 4 hours and just went and did something else. I also delayed signing up for a few months, using a friends account because I didn't feel like going through newbie jail. People don't seem to realize that getting rid of newbie jail doesn't really change much, it just delays spammers/bots by 4 hours, so essentially after 4 hours of changing the newbie jail system, things would go back to normal. Anyway, report bots/spammers/account farmers if you see them. There are a few staff members who are really good at purging large numbers of spammers at once. Report one, and 20 will go away quickly.

6014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recover wallet through public address/possibly private + password? on: November 27, 2017, 02:26:07 PM
I downloaded the client but I don't see any option to import a private key, any particular place I should look in?
You should see "help" at the top, hover over that and select debug window, then select console. Then you type in the console, "importprivkey" then add a space, and paste in the private key. Go to the recieving addresses to verify whether it worked or not. Make sure your computer is safe, and that you have a safe environment before importing the private key. If there's a particularly large amount of Bitcoin in the address, I suggest importing on a offline computer.

A client which doesn't require downloading the blockchain would be a preferable option, if you aren't planning on using Bitcoin core and downloading the whole blockchain.

Here are the details about private keys, as well as an example format: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Private_key

6015  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is It Illegal To Sell Bitcoin On Craigslist? on: November 26, 2017, 11:18:19 PM
It's almost certain that you will be scammed, if you go this route. I would much prefer to deal here through the currency exchange section and see if you can arrange for a trusted member to meet you  face to face, than someone through craigslist who has no reputation to speak of. Otherwise, just use the exchanges. The fees will be higher, but thats the price you pay for a safe and secure transaction.
6016  Other / Meta / Re: Forum is too slow again on Tor on: November 26, 2017, 08:38:03 PM
You may be lucky, and your posts might of been saved in the drafts: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=drafts depending on how the forum handles the error codes. The forums slowness is unrelated to Tor though, and has been slow for everyone for the last hour or so but seems to be improving in the last few minutes. If it were a malicious attack, then the it's either stopped or the servers are now dealing with them.
6017  Economy / Reputation / Re: nachius 'Default trust member' BOUGHT account?! on: November 26, 2017, 04:49:27 PM
I've recently come across this thread, and the user who is being questioned has said that I can verify his claims. I cannot. I've left relevant feedback on his trust page. The only personal message which I have received from this user was back in April 10, 2015, 07:20:08 PM. It didn't include any information which can be verified.

In fact, all the message was him trying to get some hearthstone codes that I was giving away at the time. Unless, he can provide a clear explanation on why I can verify what he says, then my trust will remain on his profile.
6018  Economy / Reputation / Re: Welsh - abusing trust system on: November 26, 2017, 03:38:36 PM
that's your right, i'm just trying to explain, you are just a cocky person with your power.

there are a lot of people selling and buying here why just me you allege.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=234.0

There are several reasons:

1. I noticed that the topic was getting bumped several times in one day, so I reported the bumps. Then noticed you posting.

2. I have also left feedback on two other members today, the one member that you were purchasing off and another member who has several accusations against him already.

3. At the time of your message, you had positive feedback from some noteworthy members of the forum, who I shall not drag their names into this. Which is why I consider it even higher priority.

4. You run a business here at the forums: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2035974.0
Therefore, I think everyone dealing with you there, whether it's a legit service or not, should know that you have been involved in some other shady business before.

5. Other members have already been tagged and aren't high priority. You wasn't tagged by anyone else before this.
6019  Economy / Reputation / Re: Welsh - abusing trust system on: November 26, 2017, 02:59:37 PM
Oh, look my first scam accusation against me.

Anyone that is wondering what he is referring to, please check here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2410852.msg25254065#msg25254065

He may have never purchased an account, but showed the desire too. Which, I for one consider a good enough reason to tag the user with negative trust. It's clear as day, that in the quoted reference he tells the user selling the account to use bitify as an escrow and that he will buy the account.

I've notified the previous members who have left trust on his account, it's up to them if they think it's justified or not to leave some feedback.
6020  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: selling hero bitcointalk account on: November 26, 2017, 02:43:11 PM
try open listing in bitify.
i will buy your account

Quoted for reference.

The users who have left you positive feedback in the past have also been notified about this recent development. Just to clarify, I have not asked them to remove their previously left feedback, I have only alerted them of what has happened.
