5061  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos you don't help us, so now close the french board on: July 05, 2018, 11:26:31 PM
By the looks of the previous replies they have been reporting since that comment from theymos. In fact, there's a few users with a lot of unhandled reports. I'm sure theymos will take a look at it again, and base his decision on this. It's not just the fact about who has the highest reports though. Theymos still needs to be able to trust the user to do the job. I see a few members in here seem to think that scams should be reported when in reality scams aren't moderated here on Bitcointalk.
5062  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: July 05, 2018, 10:52:02 PM
I am near you too in 16th position. Anyway it is fun to be part of the tournament and I predicted almost all quarter finals DRAWS. I put a joker this time which if hit right will give me 750 points so my only hope is to find the right correct score in the joker game to climb up some positions. It is just for fun as I think it is 100% sure I cannot reach top 5 now.
Yeah, I've decided to just go for some extreme scores, and hopefully get lucky. I'm looking forward to participating in the premier league betting pool though as I think I'll likely perform a little bit better there as I tend to watch premier league games, and very rarely watch international games unless it's Wales or the World Cup every 4 years.
5063  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Clipboard Hijacker Malware Monitors 2.3 Million Bitcoin Addresses on: July 05, 2018, 10:48:41 PM
I think most anti-virus software is not working properly, the anti virus only cleans the built-in app from a computer or phone but can not clean up viruses contained in new applications that have been downloaded on your computer or phone.
As with any virus that attacks the Messenger facebook app, even if you have anti virus on your computer or mobile phone, facebook still has to go in to clean it yourself.
They are working properly, but people expect things from them which aren't possible. For example, like I mentioned above they only collect information from their known database, and check whether that application has been submitted as malware within their database. If it hasn't then they don't flag it, but if it does exist in their database they flag it.

Anti virus software doesn't have special permissions where it can take a look at a applications source code, and determine whether it's safe or not. It's a glorified spreadsheet with known extensions/applications that are malware. If you use common sense you can get away with using a anti virus.
5064  Economy / Auctions / Re: [Auction] Mystery MIX BOX :) on: July 05, 2018, 10:35:12 PM
Btw, this is no mystery box if you are already telling the content of it  Grin Cheesy
I guess you could say that the mystery is whether the computers work or not. But, yeah not really a mystery auction. I think it's better this way to disclose the items rather than having it as a complete mystery, though.
5065  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos you don't help us, so now close the french board on: July 05, 2018, 06:44:26 AM
If you don't mind me asking: how many posts did you report?
The last theymos checked within the french local board there were only 6 reporters within the last 90 days, and these were very low reports counts too. Whether, that's improved or not I don't know.

There aren't enough reports there. Here are the top reporters over the last 90 days, unhandled reports only:

Code:
+-------+-----------+----------------+
| count | ID        | reporter       |
+-------+-----------+----------------+
|     9 |   1056600 | baba0000000000 |
|     7 |   1007192 | JeremyB        |
|     7 |   1082600 | kenzawak       |
|     3 |   1456247 | eklA           |
|     2 |    225121 | franckuestein  |
|     2 |   1580039 | asche          |

Even if you look at the handled reports over the last 90 days, only a few people have more than 10 reports.

Report bad posts even if you perceive that nothing is being done, as report stats are one of the primary methods I use to look at how moderation is going in a section, and to assess potential new moderators. Pay attention to your report accuracy; I see a lot of reports marked bad in the French sections. (If you think that a report is incorrectly marked bad, complain about that to your local moderator or in Meta.)
5066  Economy / Digital goods / Re: 10x Bitmain coupons 100$ on: July 05, 2018, 06:13:18 AM
I might be interested in these as long as a escrow is used. I'm currently looking around for these, and have contacted a few users. I won't deal with you outside of this forum so won't be contacting you via your email. However, if you are willing to accept a trusted escrow then we might be able to work out a deal. What sort of price are you looking to fetch if I were to buy all 10 of them?
5067  Economy / Digital goods / Re: #2 Bitmain $250 coupons for sale Expires 7/15/18 lets use Escrow! on: July 05, 2018, 06:09:07 AM
A little steep for me considering the expiry date, and other coupons which are currently selling for a little bit lower than this around here. Plus, the splitting of the escrow fees is added on top of this too.
I placed a few auctions in Ebay over the last few days and WOW amazing the scams going on over there. Each auction would sell within a few hours but it was a hacked ebay / paypal account each time. I had to refund & cancel each paypal payment and finally said enough is enough i'm going to place an advertisement over here and NOT take paypal.
Nice to see that paypal continue to drive new people to bitcoin. Can't fault their efforts.

I would be willing to split the escrow fees with you. Or, if anyone has any better ideas on how to do a trustless or trust(lower) transaction i'd be all ears.
There isn't any better alternative for this sort of transaction. Anyone suggesting otherwise will likely be trying to get the coupons from you without paying. Remember, that even if you are new you don't have to go out of your way, and risk your assets in order to get a sale. Always go through a escrow with anyone regardless of their rank.
5068  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Bitmain Coupon Offer $100 Coupon Only $25 on: July 05, 2018, 05:58:06 AM
Are you using a escrow? I might be interested, however only if a trusted escrow is used. Do you have any more vouchers besides this one? I'm currently looking around so if you do have more than one voucher available then I'll likely be more interested as buying in bulk from one person will likely save on a lot of things.
5069  Other / Meta / Re: Read the TOPIC and CONTENT before making replies. on: July 05, 2018, 05:45:06 AM
You can report these types of messages when you see them. Unfortunately, there's currently a epidemic going on with these sort of replies, and the only way that we can currently deal with them is by reporting them. The types of messages that you are refering to though are likely being made to bump the topic or posting because of some requirement that the announcement thread has which rewards them in stakes or what ever. If this instance you can report the original topic, and specify that they are offering an incentive to those that post in their thread.
5070  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Gambling Exploit | 100% Autopilot | $40 every 60 minutes on: July 05, 2018, 05:40:53 AM
You know if you do indeed have an exploit that is guaranteed profit then you would likely be rewarded handsomely if you were to report this to the site owners rather than trying to sell it here?
5071  Economy / Auctions / Re: Fortnite website for auction on: July 05, 2018, 05:28:54 AM
Probably not going to get much interest in this website due to it's nature, and the nature of the forum. However, if you want to increase the likelihood of a sale then it would be better to include website data such as traffic etc.
5072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Clipboard Hijacker Malware Monitors 2.3 Million Bitcoin Addresses on: July 05, 2018, 05:21:56 AM
Thanks for the heads up mate. I knew nothing about this kind of malware until now. And this is rather alarming. Hackers are making cleverer and cleverer ways of getting all your cryptocoins as much as possible so it depends to us to not to be complacent and always double check everything and make sure our antivirus is always updated.
This malware has always existed. Plus, anti virus is generally useless, and only picks up things that they already have in their database. Any new malware will not be picked up. Just don't download dodgy shit, and you will be fine. If you have to download a client that you don't trust then download it within a virtual machine.
i don't understand 1 thing though. why is it saying "monitors addresses"? does it have a database that matches the address you copy because that would be silly! the way these malware work is that they monitor your clipboard and when something enters it they just check to see whether it is a bitcoin address or not and it is very simple since the text has to be a valid base58 (and now Bech32) encoded string.

having a database for that is like having a database of 2.3 million numbers to check whether an input like 235513314955 is a number or not!
Could be referring to checking addresses to see if they have any value in them or not. It's very unlikely that they have a database they can check.
5073  Economy / Reputation / Re: To all BMs, here is a list of fake French translators - help us tag them ! on: July 05, 2018, 05:17:15 AM
of course you don't..  yes of course fuk you !
Well, aren't you a bundle of joy? I'm just explaining why it isn't a moderators responsibility.  There's no real need to be rude as I'm not the one that's spamming the french local board or providing fake translations am I?

Anyway, I'm sure someone that is fluent in French will be able to help you out sooner rather than later.
5074  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk is now protected from Phishing Sites on: July 04, 2018, 10:43:14 PM
Definitely, I've used No Script Suite on the android Firefox, and it was incredibly awkward to use, and slowed down the browsers considerably. However, I can't imagine this extension doing that.
5075  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk is now protected from Phishing Sites on: July 04, 2018, 10:32:39 PM
This will not work on phones but it is what it is, and we have to deal with it. OP, you should also add a link to Firefox extension if it exists.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/cryptonite-by-metacert/

The good thing about it being on Firefox is that you can use this extension on your phone. FIrefox is available to download their the play store, and you can add extensions to it.
5076  Economy / Reputation / Re: To all BMs, here is a list of fake French translators - help us tag them ! on: July 04, 2018, 10:20:48 PM
Look like DT don't care anymore..

Look like the french board have to be closed... We are tired without moderator. One year I ask the same thing, one fucking year !
Translations which are inaccurate or translated through services like Google translate aren't the moderators responsibility. Look at the English sections of this forum, and you'll find they aren't moderated there either.
5077  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos you don't help us, so now close the french board on: July 04, 2018, 10:08:18 PM
I remember you asking about getting a moderator a while ago. My french is to rusty to go through and try and translate the shit posts on the board, but have you considered doing so?

My suggestion is to go and gather say 10 posts that are absolute trash, most likely translated posts. Create a thread that translates those posts as close as possible to English to show a clear example.
It's generally not accepted "apply" to become moderator. There has been elections in the past, especially for the local boards. Doesn't mean theymos will listen to the election results though, and may select someone independently. So gathering posts that should be deleted will likely not work towards their favor. It would just be better to report within that section to show theymos that there needs to be a moderator assigned.
5078  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if Satoshi came back suddenly on: July 04, 2018, 10:04:01 PM
But let's not forget: Satoshi wasn't infallible, he made many early mistakes which early Bitcoin devs discovered. His opinions are to be respected, but that doesn't mean he won't get things wrong.
Yeah, and this is why I hope that his identity will never be 100% confirmed. I know there's been a few reputable sources such as Gavin Andersen claim that he might know who it is, but honestly I don't want it confirmed for the exact reason that you specified. He isn't perfect, and any flaw will be pinpointed by the media, and undoubtedly used for malicious purposes.

For example, if we ever found out the identity of Satoshi, and he was linked to crime we would likely never hear the end of it in the news, and there would be extra leverage for countries to ban/regulate it.
5079  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk is now protected from Phishing Sites on: July 04, 2018, 09:58:11 PM
I tend to block them myself using the HOSTS file. However, I'm all for protecting users from malicious websites Good job on contacting them, and working it out between yourselves. I haven't checked out the extension yet, but I'll take a look later, and probably recommend it to those that don't want to filter out the malicious websites themselves.
5080  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: July 04, 2018, 07:34:06 PM
I'm just hoping England don't royally fuck up this chance to get into the final. Sweden were far from perfect in their game against Switzerland, and I know the same can be said about England. However, I think England have the players capable of getting wins when they aren't exactly the better team on the day. Harry Kane has been doing extremely well recently.

As the result, I'm down to 18th position IIRC. Almost zero chances to boost my position into at least top 5.
Hey, pull up a seat. I've been keeping the fire stoked for a while down here! Let us bask in our inability to predict scores Cheesy
