~8750 is VNL floor (per all time chart). BTC most likely dump ~307. Alternatives will rally. Cool

Thank you for your support.

The time for suggesting there is a floor is over. The price now is a disgrace to the community if you guys actually had any shame. Way to go to kill a great tech. Slow hand clap.

I like it how you opened 10s of VNL hype threads here on BCT when the price was right for you or rising, but now that the price is lower you saying we are doomed. Not everyone is a daytrader or a short-term investor. Most successful tech companies/projects needed years to rise. This is no different. I have time to support someting that I feel will make the change within this area.

I dont see why a review has to cost that much and even if it is flawed it a start to get the ball rolling.

Because complex projects/code needs complex reviews from competent people. I support the idea of a review, but people should find someone who fits the needs and not just find someone for the sake of hype. If the community is able to find someone who we can trust and is well recognised I'm all up for the idea.

I think a price rise with the future release of DarkPP and some changes that will make Vanillacoin scale even better will make it possible for us to gather a bigger sum on a crowdfunding. Also I feel that node incentives will have a healthy effect on the long-term price (which we might not sense just yet).

Here's this guy earlz https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=317881

As far as I know he does coin code reviews here on donation basis.

I messaged him and asked if he would do one. It's a start I guess. It's the communities responsibility to do this, we don't need to bother JC, he has done the work it's not his role to justify his open source material it's others.

Maybe a small Bitcoin fund can be gathered by someone trustworthy in the VNL community. Of course a review could make the price drop but if he finds it legit then it's actually in everyone's best interest to chip a little in. And look if you don't want to support one then let others do so. I'm sure some would prefer to gather more cheap but there are the kind of people who are happy to FUD the coin for their self interests. But I see no reason for those who want this to make it happen.

He isn't competent in this field see pseudonymdude's comment above. He is only knowledged with bitcoin clones. Bitcointalk isn't the place to find a competent review because any good developer would have an agenda and be biased towards their own interest or projects. Problem is (I already explained this on IRC) that any good and recognised cryptographer or P2P system developer would ask for a way higher sum compared to what the community could throw together at these price levels. Imagine the average hourly/weekly pay of a really good specialist in this field and the amount of time needed to review the amount of code (and complexity of it) put down by John.

Same ol' same ol'. Your intelligence suck. Please make us a favor and read the last few pages of this thread.

"Throw enough mud at the wall, some of it will stick." ^^^^Perfect example.
That was before a few coders came on board and did code review

No they didn't, they are no reviewers and they didn't even review the github, most of them even admitted it when questioned. They pointed out 2 files out of a 100 (or 10 lines out of 5k) that are similar because they follow the usual P2P currency architecture. John stated that he was watching Peercoins source while he was doing the coding, but this doesn't support what you and the so-called reviewers are stating. Look at the people making the claims.

The new ZT lock on 0.3.8 is awesome, even if the exchange is not using ZT for withdrawals you can just lock the transaction and get it/resend it instantly. Nice feature for some exchange arbitrage in the future Smiley

It would be nice to get a little help from VNL people, especially from John Connor! Embarrassed

There is no way anyone can help with retrieving your coins, if you got hacked through teamviewer and the coins got transfered from the wallet to another adress. I'm sorry again for your loss.

Quiet? We had version update 2 days ago, but it was bugged so he pulled it back. It's being fixed.

What command changes the password in the wallet? Can I return the last transaction? My passwords stolen. Perhaps through the program TeamViawer.
John unfortunately does not respond to personal messages. I need at least some kind of help. With my open wallet stolen more than 30,000 VNL! For me it is a great shock!

There is no way to return an outgoing transaction, no crypto supports that except centralized sollutions like Ripple. Changeing password in win/linux wallets currently is not possible, additional commands should come later.

Teamviewer is known to have security holes in it and it is not advised to use it on a PC you are storing value on. There was news months ago that people got their BTC stolen the same way. I'm sorry for your loss, but you should always encrypt your wallet or stake on a secure machine only.

it seems like cryptopia unable to list VNL on their exchange or what ?

They probably needed some help with the adding as can be seen here: https://talk.vanillacoin.net/topic/228/how-to-set-rpc-user-pass-and-ssl-settings

Of course if you have nothing to hide. Perhaps this is one of the trolls' goals - make the community perceive

People can't really hide stuff here, it's open source.

And as someone mentioned on the DASH thread iCEBREAKER was doxxed as the CEO of HashFast during the time they scammed all their investors/buyers. This should explain his tools/motivation to protect the project that he invested his scam money in, from anything that makes volume on Poloniex.

Would be nice to see VNL on 1ex.trade when they activate their alts soon.  Dev I suggest you msg the wbb dev and get on there.  It'll only be LEGIT alts/devs only so it'd be a good show of faith to be there.

Tbh the time of new anon altcoin exchanges is over (I saw no info on who owns/operates the website, please tell me if I'm wrong) and also they didn't really develop it since Crypto Capital is building these exchanges as far as I remember it from their website.

So basically....these arguments attempting to justify why eMunie should not be allowed to participate, simply paints a picture that everyone is running scared, even though its just meant to be for a bit of fun.

You can't be serious mate, proving something in crypto with closed source software/client?

And you even try to taunt people when being asked to release first and compete after.
638  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNOFFICIAL] VNL | Vanillacoin 0.3.7 | Node Incentives | ZeroTime | POW/POS on: October 12, 2015, 08:03:40 PM
So what is the real story regarding open source code attribution? I looked through VNL threads here and didn't find a complete explanation. Probably I just missed something. I suppose it is one of these:

1. The attribution was properly given but certain people missed it.
2. That particular code doesn't need any attribution according to its license.
3. The whole thing was made up to spread some FUD and there was no such code at all.
4. The open source license violation really took place and the fact is carefully protected by some community members attacking anyone who asks question.

So which one is it? Or is it something else?

It's a complete redesign of the old peercoin codebase in C++11. A few people claimed it was run through an auto format, but these people actually never researched the files on github. There are a few files which are similar to what Bitcoin/Peercoin uses since Vanillacoin has obviously the same (P2P crypto-currency) structure: blockchain, wallet etc. This is important since Coin++ gives the opportunity for Peercoin derivatives to switch/upgrade their code bases to Vanillacoin's if they wish. The network protocol is completely different from what bitcoin/peercoin derivatives use.

They claim this means copyright infringement, but imho the similarities would never reach that status in a legal battle. Also it's worth to mention that our features like CoinPP, MinerPP, ZeroTime, Wallet (non-qt) are nowhere similar to anything other coins did.

Else if they would want a legal battle, who would sue John? Sunny King? Satoshi?

Agree with r0ach here, the contest has 0 sense if a closed source non-released project can take part in it, which has 0 days runtime in a normal enviroment. No offense, the project can be 100% legit, but that doesn't change the point.

New feature coming to ZeroTime, info taken from: https://talk.vanillacoin.net/topic/173/zerotime/13

I've implemented remote transaction locking. This enables you (as the recipient) of a non-ZeroTime transaction to lock it remotely as if it were locked by the sender. :sunglasses:
