imagine buying this for 10 millions of mooncoins http://www.telescopes.com/telescopes/catadioptric-telescopes/celestronnexstar8se.cfm

Even we can buy some of them more cheap to spread to study of astronomy in different schools or universitys. Everything related to moon observation, stars, constellations, etc...

Even if you believe in astrology, books, etc... payed in mooncoins  Grin Grin Grin

EDIT: Imagine saying to one of this shops something like: We want to buy 30 telescopes for different universities as a donation from the mooncoin foundation. But you must implement mooncoins as a payment system.
They will implement into their shop, and they win a big buy of 30 telescopes!  Grin Grin Grin Grin

Just watched the brightly shining Moon a few minutes ago. A telescope would be really nice.  Smiley

  thanks, that would be gr8, but honestly i'm not looking for a hand-out. as an investor i'm concerned about what seems to be a dysfunctional wallet.

Maybe rather MacOS is the dysfunctional part ...?  Wink
But of course, that kind of problem should be straightened out somehow.

I have added a bounties-section to the planned new thread's first posting above.

The intention: Being able to put a bounty on something the community needs. That way, we could attract people to develop more Mooncoin-related applications. E.g.: shops, online-wallets, a mobile wallet etc.

I'm not sure how we can manage the transfer of the Mooncoins for that. At the moment I'd say, someone who would like to see some new application or use-case, could post into the thread and we can add that to the thread with his user name, so a potential programmer or so could get in contact directly with the one who is willing to pay the bounty.
What do you think?
626  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] bitaddress.org Safe JavaScript Bitcoin address/private key on: November 07, 2014, 10:46:04 AM
I understand that Devs don't like Brainwallets because they know people are going to resort to the same sort of easy to remember  passwords that they already use.
What's needed is a way of hardening private keys generated by Brainwallets from attack from Rainbow table generation.

I understand that the way brainwallets are created now is   Sha256(Pswd)

Wouldn't a simple way to slow down the creation of rainbow tables be to use Sha256(Bcrypt(Pswd))

It would never protect a truly bad password like 'password123' but would help harden moderately good passwords. from attack.

Sounds good.

I've checked out the GitHub-repo, in order to fork it for a Mooncoin-paper-wallet-solution.
Can anyone here give me hint on how to adapt the relevant places in the code, in order to make it work with Mooncoin?

Thank you in advance. To the MOON!  Wink

yes sure, I can add on mooncoin twitter account the link, remind me what..

I meant to add your Twitter-URL ( https://twitter.com/MooncoinItalia ) to the new thread's posting as a Twitter-channel for Mooncoin. Because the original one ( https://twitter.com/RealMooncoin ) by deaconboogie seems to be orphaned.

Nice.
Since I'm not into social media, can we add a link to your Twitter-account (MooncoinItalia) in that posting?

Edit:
I remember, that peme set up a Facebook-page for Mooncoin, right? What was the URL - to be included, too?

If bitcoin is the Sun - what about the Moon?

Welcome to the new Mooncoin-thread

As many of you know, deaconboogie - the legendary creator of Mooncoin - has been offline for weeks months now.  Sad
After long time of waiting and trying to contact him by all available means, he still remains lost.
Unfortunately, that left the coin in an inconsistent state, with former official download-locations gone with him. Hence, we as the community finally have decided to fork the coin and bring it to life again. Many people have helped until now, to make this possible: We have strong long-term investors and dedicated people in the community, to support Mooncoin. As well as die-hard miners, to keep the network stable and going. Last but not least, a new wallet is on its way, in order to solve some minor problems, that arose during the last months. This will require a hardfork, but more on that later.

Based on this we feel, that Mooncoin has a very bright future to come.  Smiley

You'll find all updated links below, especially the ones to the wallets, as well as our nice logo.

Feel free to participate and let us know, what you think.

To da MOON!

New block explorer here: http://moonchain.net

Windows- and Mac-wallet: http://mooncoin.rocks/wallet-download
Linux: https://github.com/mooncoin-project (compile on your own system for best performance)
Web-Wallet: http://mooncoin.rocks/web-wallet

(Caveat: Please keep in mind, that web-wallets are considered less secure, since you are not in full control of your coins)

New Mooncoin paperwallet generator: https://walletgenerator.net/?currency=MoonCoin
Info: If you want to be as secure as possible, download the zip-file from https://github.com/MichaelMure/WalletGenerator.net --> https://github.com/MichaelMure/WalletGenerator.net/archive/master.zip
Extract it on your computer, disconnect from the internet and you can then make paper-wallets most secure. The zip-file contains the whole paper-wallet generator for offline-creation. Just hit index.html in the extracted folder.
Btw: paperwallets containing Mooncoin make a great christmas- or birthday-gift.

Configuration/nodes

Seeds are normally done via DNS. You should not need to do any manual addnode commands. But since the current wallet has old seed-nodes encoded into it, which are now offline, it can - and most probably will - happen, that your newly installed wallet doesn't connect automatically to the network (one main reason, why we have to update the wallet, btw.). In this case, please use this peers.dat and replace the existing peers.dat (it's in the same folder, where your wallet.dat is: c:\users\yourusername\appdata\roaming\mooncoin\), restart your wallet and it should connect fast. Alternatively you could create a file called mooncoin.conf in that folder and use the following as contents:

addnode=5.45.105.66
addnode=moonchain.net
addnode=aikapool.com
addnode=cryptsy.com
addnode=67.215.12.178:44664
addnode=188.165.254.191:44664
addnode=5.9.39.9:44664
addnode=108.61.10.90:44664
addnode=118.92.185.243:44664
addnode=125.237.61.198:44664
addnode=37.120.168.233:44664

Again, restart the wallet, and it should connect after a short time.
If that does not get you going either, please post into the thread, to get other current addnodes to try out.

if you run it over FastCGI, restart your webserver.
You mean the whole server/machine (which I did), or just Apache? Only to be sure.

only the webserver means the program (in this case Apache)

OK, thanks to you both for clearing this up.

given that the Dev wrote he was creating to dump and make some money. (I know that's what all/most altcoin's do, but no other Developers just come out and say it before release.)

Has someone checked this Mooncoin-faucet already?
http://moonfaucet.com/

I'm trying to gather a list of sites, that have to be informed about the wallet-update, when it gets serious. I'll post that list into the new thread, to be completed by all of us.

So if you come across a site that depends on a Mooncoin-wallet, like pools, blockchain-explorers, exchanges, faucets, etc., please add them to your notepad, so we have a comprehensive list afterwards in the new thread for contacting them.

Thanks.

nice idea, the Metal Music Coin.

But shouldn't have the total amount of coins been something like 666666 or so?  Grin

What I have been asking myself from the beginning: Is it just me or is it common practice in Abe, that an update/changing of the HTML-template is not reflected, until the database is build up again? Or am I doing something wrong? Just changed some HTML in the template (again) and it does not show up on the frontend. Would not like to rebuild the database again from the whole blockchain ...

Any idea?
You dont have to rebuild the DB, just restart Abe.

OK, I will try that. What command would you use for that? killall or anything better?

Edit: just restarted the server ... Wink

Great to hear about the progress.  Smiley

EDIT: I'm planning to start the new thread by the end of the week, in order to give deaconboogie time, to chime in possibly. I have also sent him a PM, informing him of this planned step.

EDIT 2:
Had some spare time and thought about creating some nice Mooncoin-graphics:

640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MOON] Mooncoin: You know where it's headed! KGW exploit FIXED 4/3/2014 on: November 02, 2014, 04:42:53 PM
Coinflow i received message , I agree to the new thread, the first page contains important information and many people think that moon is dead! But Moon is alive Smiley when it will be ready, announce even through Twitter

If someone could start a new thread with updated links, that would be great.

Yes. As you know (PM), I have contacted the supermod of this subsection of bitcointalk, in order to possibly close this thread, after opening a new one. Unfortunately he does not see an option for doing this, so I'm afraid we'll have to live with two open ANN-threads.

I was contacted by several people of this thread, if I could open up a new thread. So my question is, whether it is OK for all of you, doing this?

deaconboogie, if you read this, please give us a little feedback, by any means. Or vote against it, since we absolutely do NOT want to ignore you on this, but as you do not update the first posting, and the original official pages at mooncoin.info, as well as the old blockchain explorer, being offline for several months now, we really need a solution. Hopefully you're OK and our concerns, that something happened to you, aren't true?  Embarrassed

If everybody agrees, I'd start another ANN-thread for Mooncoin. At first only with the basic information why we had to do this (like just described above) and with the link to the http://mooncoin.rocks website, as well as to the pools and featuring the nice and widely known Mooncoin-icon/-logo again. We can then add additional information later. But at least people looking for the basic facts and info will find, what they are looking for, instead of being disappointed. I hope peme has the new wallet ready soon, so we can add that, too.

KlondikeBear in a PM pointed out a nice thing: looking at the number of pages of this thread, it is 384. Relating to the distance from the earth to the moon being ~384k kilometers, it would be a nice coincidence(? ;-) ) and point in time, to end this mission here and start the new one.

If it is OK for all of you, we can ignite MOON - stage 2.
