Single board will get through customs without problems as my first board did but this is a shipment of 23 boards.

$400 for 23 boards ? that's less than $20 per board, on a value of $640

That's a steal if you ask me.... the other way around from the USA to Europe DHL would want $130 per board minimum (20%) !

Count yourself lucky  Cheesy

Why is it so hard for people to believe that loans can be made for 1% per day or even much higher ?

www.wonga.com

They say they 'only' charge 1% a day so 'only' 365% per year but the govt makes them display the APR (compounded interest); a whopping 4214% per year

Remember, this is an FSA regulated company, seal of approval by the UK government, not some dodgy loanshark around the corner

And believe it or not: they only lend money to people that have a certifiable income....but obviously can't get a loan from a bank or have acces to a credit card...

So now imagine what rate of interest you can charge when you lend to higher risk people without being regulated.....

Just saying....

629  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Pirate Pass Through Bonds! on: July 09, 2012, 09:33:42 AM
This whole back-and-forth bickering is all about one thing:

The perception if losing a profit constitutes risk

And that perception is different for everyone

If you sit down at a blackjack table with $100, run it up to $10.000 but leave the table with the $100 you came with - did you lose money ?

In my opinion you did: $9.900 to be exact... other people might say they left break-even... is money still on the table (i.e. before you cash it) casino-money or your money ?

All depends on your outlook in life

So any further arguing about this is senseless imo
630  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] NASTY - Free Electricity, GPUMAX.com, Free ASIC Upgrade! on: July 09, 2012, 09:23:31 AM
Seems like people are overpaying a lot just to be the first to mine with an ASIC

Perhaps they know something you don't.

I don't doubt that !!!  Grin

Seriously: It all comes down to how much early adaptor advantage you will get from ASIC mining in the first 2 weeks..... And seeing as you are right there at the top of the waiting list your advantage will be the biggest.... if it is worth 0.30 btc/share only time will tell  Wink

Good luck !!!!

Disclaimer: I might pick up some shares in this mining outfit when the price drops below 0.30 btc  Cool

This bet is actually a win-win for both players

-Vandroyi: He deposits let's say 2.500 coins with Pirateat40; if he wins the bet he wins 2.500 BTC (100% return) and if he loses he will get 82.500 BTC from Pirateat40

-Pirateat40: It's a confidence booster for BTCST, so legit or not he will profit from it

Excellent job, they are both buying time and both stand to gain much more they they bet

633  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] NASTY - Free Electricity, GPUMAX.com, Free ASIC Upgrade! on: July 06, 2012, 10:51:47 AM
new singles cost a little more than double compared to the old singles.

Oh didn't now that.
So lets do the math again.

634$ for a single with shipping. 1/800 of 634$ is 0,7925$ a share value in real equipment.
A ASIC single is  1333$ with shipping 1333$/0.7925$ = 1682 shares for each ASIC single.
40000 mh/s / 1682 shares = 23.78 mh/s/share

We don't now the power consumption for the ASIC so for now it seems a good deal.

If 1682 shares are needed for 1 ASIC then 1 shares should be worth $1333 /1682 = $0.80 or about 0.12 BTC

Calculating in another way: 1 ASIC gives 40.000 MH/s 1 share is worth 20 MH/s, 1/2000th of 1 ASIC

$1333 /2000 = $0.665 per share or a share price of 0.10 BTC

Seems like people are overpaying a lot just to be the first to mine with an ASIC, now I know it is going to be profitable in the beginning, but I doubt 4 times as profitable as trying to buy it on your own

I have almost finished building my Higgs-Boson Bitcoin Miner (HBBM)

The HBBM will achieve a speed close to the speed of light (1 billion Peta Hash/s)

I might have to down-clock it a bit because the energy the device will emit is about as much as the sun

I see a BRIGHT future for 'my' Bitcoin  Grin

There is a problem with Dynamic Intensity in the latest release of CGMiner

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.msg1002431#msg1002431

If u run dynamic intensity (as I do) it goes to -10 and stays there

So I get 3 MHz per second instead of my usual 480 MHz  Cheesy

Just so everyone knows.... if u do the upgrade, pls use a set Intensity
