All the recent communication on this thread, and the excitement about "what is out there," I had to twist my own arm and open the few remaining 2018 X packs I had. Bad news and no #83 Silver, Reds, X mini, or Woody. The only good one was a #239 Evan Longoria Brooklyn mini 4/25. Good luck to others!

2018 was a good rookie year. I didn't know Soto was a rookie in 2018. Only know A&G cards lol. He wasn't featured.
A 2017 x case (12 boxes) on Ebay 1500. A 2018 x single box 900 (recent sales about 400) A 2016 x box 165. 2017 x box 140.
Too bad soto not featured in 2018 A&G, then it'd be epic.
Who is in and out of the ginter 2018 set is no matter. With or without soto it would be the same pricing. They arent premium cards therefore the baseball world goes to other companies/products to get more premium cards. This 2018 release and why it is priced the way it is is Solely on the #83. If soto was in here it wouldn't move the price needle on the box. I'm not trying to be a downer this is actually a plug for how much the crypto card really is worth. Not much of a premium on regular hobby boxes. A 2019 goes for 130, 2018 110, 2017 120. Makes sense in a way, the only high end crypto card are brooklyns and glows - odds impossibly stacked against you. |

I have to agree with the Penny Man, card dealers know whats what...and 2018 was a terrific year for Rookies...including out most loved
#83 Cryptocurrency cards. There is a case with all of the wood cards, OR they are scattered in cases not yet opened. All the other cases of all of the other variations are completely independent from what we seek in here. Which is pretty much anything promoting Cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, and the people behind it all. So far all we have is the "Rookie" card. Are there more out there, yes, and way more than you think. I have several unopened x box's and packs of the TAG 2018. I'm sure that I will buy more before it's all over too. Much like the Penny Man, I've developed a friendship with these people and have had in depth dialogues about what Penny Man is saying. It's true, in fact just the other day I was telling someone about taking all of their cards in to his local card dealer, to have them looked at PRIOR to sending. Because we all want 10's only. They have people on staff that will look at all of your cards and tell you what cards will get a 10. It works, they have a dead-eye for that. Your local card dealers are sharper than you think. Get to know them a little, and you'll understand. Like, these people sending in their cards to Becketts because PSA gave them a 9.....not a great idea. Dealers will crack that 9 and send it back in to PSA, because collectors WANT the PSA cards. PSA is the standard. They would rather take another shot at possibly getting a different grader & getting a 10 next go around, than to send it to Becketts. My card dealer Dave, has told me that time and time again. You can learn PLENTY from your local card dealer. Penny Man is right on the money.

jeez, i should probably pull all mine out, and the trusty 1980's blacklight to check.  Just a heads up, if you have the silver glossy #83 or the glow in the dark, hang onto those since they are no longer being made.  if you see a glossy of any card, please post a picture or link. Never seen one a full-size one if that is what you mean. The hot box silver glossy is on the first page of this thread. There are a few for sale on ebay. Ooh. Me too, I am hoping the silver mini #83 will show up in one of the two remaining boxes owned by members on this forum. As far as I know there are only three boxes left unopened unless there are some that have been tucked away and never opened. I can assure you that there are probably dozens of Ginter X cases — not boxes, cases — left sealed and unopened. That's what pro card sellers do. They buy several cases at a time, store them sealed and in pristine condition, then place them on the market years later. Just because we don't see them on eBay doesn't mean they don't exist. (Lots of negatives in that sentence, but you know what I mean.) However, I do hope that you pull the silver mini in one of your remaining boxes. It would be nice to see it found by a forum member. Whoever picked up the solar glowie made a nice investment.
Wink wink. Always liked the Total Solar Eclipse, but with the glow one like having sun and moon on same card. Very cool. |

I looked on PSA to see how many total glow in the darks were graded for the entire set and there were only eleven. No #83's at all. Who here has seen an actual #83 glowie other than in a photo? Just curious I purchased and flipped one. I had it graded and they mislabeled it as plain mini - PSA 10. i have teo others mislabeled of regular players. so PSA does make mistakes. So you had a red mini #83 and a glow in the dark #83. Were those the rarest of the #83's that you had? Correct. Never seen a 1/1 even though i was onlne when the person that found the mini glossy posted here. he initially listed for one price and increased it by a grand once he saw us drooling over it. Hindsight is 20/20, when i sold, i couldn't have imagined how high the prices would go. Pure speculation but those glowies are special since they are no longer being made. At one time, there were two or three on ebay just sitting there. The whales just scooped them up. |

Good score on that x box. I do hope you pull an elusive red or silver. those are too good at playing hide and seek. Remember, you could pull a glow too. Any base looking card in an x box is a glow card. They have case hits too. Some ebay told me of a dealer site that has an annual fee where boxes and cases are sold. Dealer dot net or something like that. i'd be curious if there are x boxes there too. Also, every once in a while Probstein sells an X box, so there may be some still hiding. |
