641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffet and Jamie Dimon Critics Bitcoin yet Again on: June 11, 2018, 07:13:49 AM
This is just their super tactic to get all the bitcoins really cheap.
Why would they come out and talk about it unless they can gain on it? What's in it for them!  Grin
642  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best wallets on: June 11, 2018, 07:12:15 AM
Not sure if anyone will see this, but I made a thread here about different wallets:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3576100
incase anyone is looking for some more information!  Roll Eyes
643  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Paypal "following me in my dream" on: June 11, 2018, 07:10:43 AM
Not sure if I'm missing something, but wouldn't this "hack" be doable with any site that has 2fa?
If you your mail hacked, the hacker can create an account on any site and add his own phone.
I don't see what paypal has to do with it.

What prevents someone from registering with your real name and with his own email?

this is a good site to check your mail address occasionally: https://haveibeenpwned.com/
644  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Giving Eth To Receive Eth Scam on: June 11, 2018, 07:07:27 AM
If it's too good to be true, then it probably is, to be honest only stupid people who fall for this kind of scam, and you should not rely on any software or add-on to protect you, use your brain, or close your twitter account.

This is very true. Honestly, how can people fall for this?
On etherscan, latest comments at the bottom, there's always atleast one post about someone saying "this address is a scam".
While it's not always from these social-media related stuff, how difficult is it to realise that noone is giving away free stuff?
How many times has anyone actually done that? I mean, sure, some give away a few tokens or something..
but what time in recorded history has people been given "twice what they send" back, in any format - crypto, fiat, horses? never. (except for ponzi schemes maybe)
645  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Metamask Phishing on: June 11, 2018, 07:00:00 AM
You can upload a picture to like www.imgur.com and paste the link.

What KYC are you trying to do? Did you download metamask from metamask.io (one of the chrome/firefox addon pages it links to)?
646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can someone find out that you own bitcoin ? on: June 11, 2018, 12:25:05 AM
I would say, absolutely. but the method depends on who the someone is.. in theory, it's almost always possible?
Anyone who visits an exchange and registers their identity, can in theory be tracked easily unless they "tumble"(?) their bitcoin through some tumbler service?
But, when it comes to an ISP and not using a VPN, they can probably one way or another find out, not entirely sure -
I mean, using a wallet software, would that encrypt the broadcast of transfers? I don't think so?
while using https websites would in a sense be more protective
647  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: So i got a likely scam KYC form on: June 11, 2018, 12:06:48 AM
This 'kentra', is it the team sending incorrect links?
is your email in an open bounty google doc?
or did they get hacked? seen that an awful lot lately, hackers accessing their mail server or something and sending out addresses for bonuses etc..  Shocked
648  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Market Droping,SELL?BUY!!! on: June 10, 2018, 07:42:43 PM
Time to buy some cheap ass Bitcoin this week

I see sub 5 k by the end of the summer

aren't those statements against eachother? why buy now if you think 5k soon enough?  Grin
649  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Double your Bitcoins without gambling! on: June 10, 2018, 07:38:01 AM
I tried both links but both are dead  Huh

You went to a 7 year old scam site and expected it to still be working?

Haha, I was reading this thread and thinking how can he expect someone to "just test" with ~$700?
Didn't notice the date until I got to this second page..

Well, people still fall for these kind of things even now, 7 years later  Roll Eyes
650  Other / Serious discussion / Re: What are your steps for digital privacy? (here are mine) on: June 10, 2018, 12:11:22 AM
perhaps what you do now is not "bad" but who knows what will be considered "bad" in the future.

perfectly legal stuff you do now may come back to haunt you later. depends on what the future government decides.

heck even exorcising you right to online privacy now (using vpn, tor, monero, whatever) is enough to flag you as a suspicious person in places.

Very well said! It's outrageous.
it's like the general public is brainwashed to that "if you don't have anything to hide, it doesn't matter".
Quite dangerous where society is heading!

To preserve privacy I kill my identity as soon as I feel my privacy is compromised.
what this means:
hard slow format my devices(smartphones, tablets, pc)(I will save my important data to airgapped storages)
I don't care deleting online accounts as I'm very good to forget passwords, and I don't use old accounts anymore.
I never submit personal informations like pictures or audio that can be used to connect my old identities with the new one.
I don't use any service that require kyc(or I use fake/dummy kyc data)
I use anonymous vps to get a private vpn.
I don't care about  a reputation history, I think present is what matter.
I have no friends.
I try change my speech style and known languages.

It sounds like you take it quite seriously! Isn't using smartphones a bit a like a flaw in your 'protection' tho?
Smartphones seems to be the absolutely #1 worst thing to have for privacy  Undecided
and yet we're becoming more and more dependant on them.. dangerous!
it seems like so many sites and services demand a phone for "2fa", for some reason!
Why can't they just let us get hacked if we don't want to use 2fa?

It's a conspiracy!  Angry
651  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: More money in Article Writing on: June 09, 2018, 04:49:10 PM
Tip #5

It's also a nice touch if you make important parts of the text bold, slightly larger font for headings and such ..  Cheesy

I hate that, it slows things down for speed readers. I've even put people on ignore if they do too much formatting.  I think it's fine for Steemit, but not for a fast moving forum.

really  Shocked
I understand what you say if it's just someone's discussion and such, but if it's a wall of text (and an article/guide or something like that),
it really seems like it just makes it easier to find the "important" parts
652  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: More money in Article Writing on: June 09, 2018, 06:15:28 AM
Tip #5
it really makes it easier to read if you make your text compact, it doesn't need one-two empty lines between each row!
It's also a nice touch if you make important parts of the text bold, slightly larger font for headings and such ..  Cheesy

(it's a nice initiative to make a thread about writing good articles, but you could probably format your post a bit better, lead by example Grin)
653  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gas money on: June 09, 2018, 06:13:50 AM
What exchanges? To send funds to an exchange, it's up to you how much gas you use, check https://ethgasstation.info/ (for ETH) current gas for estimated speed.
21000 gas should work fine if you are sending to a wallet.
if you are sending to a contract, you might need a higher amount, so what exchanges? If you mean decentralized exchanges, for example with forkdelta I think you'd still be fine with 21000(?)
654  Other / Serious discussion / Re: What are your steps for digital privacy? (here are mine) on: June 09, 2018, 02:07:04 AM
My personal step to keep my privacy in Facebook is not to use Facebook at all. This company has shown without any doubt a remorseless and aggressive tendency to use data without any consent and lives only on content created by others.

Regarding Google, I think Brave is at the moment a better tool.

Brave seems to be a browser with built in adblocking? I'm not sure, but that alone wouldn't do much against Google, if you still use it?
655  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Analysing ICOs and crypto projects on: June 09, 2018, 02:00:21 AM
I think you can try to participate in ICO's which listed on ICOBench/ICOList more than 4. I also like projects by Amazix team which have interesting projects: Shivom, Helbiz,CountingHouse,CoolCousin

That's a really good point, I will add that to the thread too, regarding amazix.
They do their own 'vetting' of a project to determine whether it's legit.
656  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Was bitcoin created by the NSA? your thoughts on: June 08, 2018, 10:03:05 PM
Kinda unrelated, but just noticed something interesting.
This is Hal Finney's bitcointalk account: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2436
Hal Finney died on 2014. But last login to this account occurred in 2017.

That's actually really weird! Who could have done that?
Only "safe" choice would be if his family or friends knew his password.
unless the forum admin perhaps reset it to do something?  Lips sealed
657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the options for the future? on: June 08, 2018, 05:29:59 PM
Seeing as the world governments has opened their eyes for crypto,
and now cracking down on ICOs, exchanges, and crypto in general..

I fear that crypto already has been breached, and is controlled and manipulated by the 'banks'.
Since crypto is theoretically unstoppable, instead of fighting against the system, they could simply have obtained a large amount and
can keep the price controlled, and never allowing an outbreak bad enough to damage their system?

with 'banks' I'm referring to the banking industry/very rich people in general, who one way or another
profits from the current economical model, often by being middlemen, or 'earning money from nothing'.

By ruining the reputation of bitcoin/crypto in general, the average person would likely never touch it.
If p2p currency ever was adopted worldwide, it'd be a huge change for the current economical model, which of course, many top players wants to prevent.

What are the things that could happen? What are the alternatives?
Creating a new currency wouldn't work, if we assume that the banksters would be aware of it and therefore they could get a controlling part of it.
So we're 'stuck' with bitcoin, and can only hope that the coins itself are spread enough to not be controllable?

They can't stop the growth of the currency. The currency is growing and developing day by day. They're left with no choice but to engaged their selves  here.

As Satoshi said: "I'm sure that in 20 years there will either be very large transaction volume or no volume."
If governments make it too difficult for people to obtain crypto, the general demand and therefore value obviously sinks.
I'm not saying it's likely, but it can't be ruled out!
658  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why shouldn’t we be concerned? on: June 08, 2018, 04:26:01 PM
Without "studying the graphs", do you realise what Bitcoin is, what it does, how it works?
Among with other cryptos, this alone should clarify why it's going up.

If you take a look at a logarithmic scale of Bitcoin's price graph, you can see this has happened before.
We're at the new "lowest low" of this time, or soon atleast!
659  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do rich people get off easier when they break the law? on: June 08, 2018, 04:23:02 PM
While I think everyone should be equal to the law, isn't in the public's best interest, that someone who is rich(= tax payer probably), could keep paying taxes?
Compared with a drug dealer who doesn't pay any taxes. Is it really wrong for rich people to get off easier?
660  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Analysing ICOs and crypto projects on: June 08, 2018, 03:12:52 PM
I already have a couple websites and blogs that guide me, but this info is also useful, thanks
Care to share those, or maybe share some tips that isn't mentioned?  Grin

I love these posts, with real value for the crypto community, but mainly for newcomers, like me, who are the ones who get the most hits when we start.

I agree with the points to be reviewed but in another order, the product-idea and the team-advisors are the main thing for me and then the distribution of tokens, whitepaper-roadmap.
Something I like about some projects is that they come from a company that is already running and something that turns on my alerts are the big discounts.
I didn't mean to say in which order things are prioritized, the idea and team are definitely the main thing!
The whitepaper and roadmap are in a way very important, to show that they have a clear idea and know how to achieve it, but,
they might just not be very good at putting out information? I like your order priority. It seems like a reliable way.

Any good sites or blogs to read about icos and other opinions?
Do you mean sites to find a good investment? I'm not sure where one could go, there's sites like icobench,
and there's lots of youtubers, I personally try to find projects that are mentioned in passing on forums and stuff(so not actively shilled),
and then investigate the project  Cheesy
