Let's just go scientific on this. I mean we use milli- and micro- after all. So 1.000 BTC. Then again, I most commonly see it before just like the USD. So BTC1.000. How about we just go crazy on this and place it on top if we're talking about BTC and below if we're talking about satoshi? So: BTC 1.000 Is 1 Bitcoin and 1.000 BTCis 1 Satoshi. You know what...The foundation should develop a poll regarding this nomenclature...

Wow. This is pretty nice! Print a nice large poster size of this and stick it to my wall!

The opening at Bitcoin Worship:
Pool Owner: Hashrate be with you. Pool Members: And also with you. Pool Owner: We lift up our hash. Pool Members: We lift our ASICs to the coin.
With that said, the interesting thing is the religion would need to foremost establish a center church otherwise it actually falls short of a whole bunch of exemptions (at least in the U.S.). Which is kinda funny since that would mean there would be needed centralization which is completely against the ideas behind Bitcoin.

When it comes to the regurgitated pump and dump type of crap coins, people don't really look at the logo. I'd say most people skip the logo and focus on the name and the reward scheme. In fact, a lot of these stronger coins either had a strong initial "community" that help contribute to the network and a lot of the time that goes hand in hand with the "success" of the coin.
That said, sometimes a really spanking logo helps in advancing the community. One example of this is with PPC. There was a contest for a new logo and I'd personally say that it went a long way in helping the long-term value of the coin.

It's easy. Go to Russia, start selling BTC on the street, shortly you will have food, accommodation, clothing and entertainment up to 15 years . +1 Touche indeed, touche. Plus, since Bitcoins aren't easily seized (if you control your own keys and whatnot), when you get out, you may have a huge fortune awaiting. Someone should do this and be firmly true to going long (and I mean long) on BTC. I do not volunteer for this by the way.

Ooh, a NEC thread. Haven't seen one of these for like, uh, a long time.
Yeah, Neocoin was promising, but had I think 4 relaunches. Even during it's final launch, it got mined to heck. After an initial pump, started dying to the sub 500 satoshi level for about a month (I think this was like October/November) then during the last run-up of BTC, like many other alts, NEC had a run up before peaking at a price of around 30,000 satoshi for a few days (I think there was a day where it passed 0.005 BTC, but it was for a short while and was clearly part of a huge pump).
The biggest issue was that after the release, there was very little infrastructure developed around the coin in the following months, but the wallet had a bunch of nice features (such as how much you had in fiat in real-time).

Ok, I'll start with some ideas: - best Noble flag design - best video - most noble promotion with evidence - noblest pet
promotion would be most helpfull , however not everyone can compete How about the best promotional idea? I will admit, an informative video on NOBLE that covers what it is, what makes it different, and the mission of NOBLE would be very beneficial to have. I also think some way of giving NOBLE more prominence in some sort of Social Media is also a very good idea. Meme action would also be useful, but we need to be careful to make sure that most of the community isn't only here for a short amount of time.

Sorry my move wasn't saying I'm better than you, it is just that I started mining noble in it's debut where 100 000+ nobles/days was easy for 3mh/s (Maybe one day I will say OMG I send 10 000$ noble value to the community) Thank you. Honestly, I did not take any offense what so ever. I sincerely was happy that someone wanted to donate more than me. It shows the character of the community!

Just send 35 000 This is a war I can't win Hehe. Didn't mean to turn this into a bidding battle. Haha. Just wanted to pitch in .01 BTC and that's what it was. But if a little bit of disruption makes others pitch in more, then that's the best I can hope for. I'm glad someone took the initiative to pitch in more than me. It shows that there are great folks in the community!

Ok guys,
I've set up a new wallet for the community donation fund and have transferred the first 10,000 Noble to it.
If you want to chip in you can send Noble to the following address: 9pyBnH8HvxxFRJkkXjvYEKdnw37qhodgdE
The plan: (short version, non final, subject to changes based on community input, will be updated later with more details)
Goal: Increase community participation by providing an incentive to spend time promoting Noble. Means: Raised community funds. Competition: We will hold a contest for creating the best meme, slogan or other means for promoting Noble.
Details: Everybody can make any type of submission. Depending on the amount of submissions, subcategories can be created. A Jury of the community members will make a top 10 of all submissions. The top 10 will be hosted in a poll to decide on final ranking.
Prizes: Amounts will depend on Noble raised. Additional Noble can be given to all members who make a decent submission and those who help spread the material over the internet.
Please make suggestions if you disagree or miss something!
Just sent some. It's a different amount, so you'll know which one it is.

Well 2 days at the Casino and I come back to quit a depressing situation. Truly sorry to hear about the scumbags with the CC reversals and I have no problem with the Devs using the Pre-mine to cover it. Checked out the exchanges and see the bots have at work driving the price down. Someone is stocking up. Good time to take advantage of those bots. Lost a Ton at casino so can't grab as much as I planned on. And I finally got Coinbase account all set and I have to wait till Monday for my BTC !!! WFT is that!!! I want to grab this coin at this price right now dammit! Anyone that wants to sell at the current price but will wait till my BTC will come in on monday PM me. I have faith the price will rise, If you don't and want to unload let me know. We can use an Escrow. I only have .75 BTC coming in unfortunately but maybe next week the Casino will be more forgiving. HEADS UP GENTLEMEN this is just a bump in the road. Good to set up your account with Coinbase and to buy now. Once you get fully verified, you can buy up to $1000 in BTC a week and receive the funds instantaneously. That's what I did two nights ago when the prices were around $440. It is quite surprising how low NOBLE has gotten. NOBLE is still waiting for its bounce back where as many other alts have already taken the upswing from the price of BTC recovering. I guess as you said, it's a good time to get even more NOBLE.

Will say, they could be significantly better off if they tried this with a CPU-only alt. It'd be very interesting how much they could ROI off of that. Of course though, that's an even bigger security risk. I still don't think the risk-based reward is worth it.
|
|
|
That was a very fascinating read.
Admittedly, as with most companies, just taking the risk of security would automatically nix this issue. But interesting that the ROI would be so low even with the fact that they wouldn't have to pay more for electricity (yay contracts!).
All in all, an extra ~$270 just isn't worth it. Hehe.

Coinmarket.io, I know a lot of the people on this thread would prefer you guys getting back up quickly and all those sort of things, but please don't rush if it's going to affect the speed of your service.
I know you won't but just wanted to reiterate for the sake of doing so.
One of the thing that I really like about your site is how quickly a buy order can be placed and how quickly it finishes resolving. Other sites (not mentioning them), have this really annoying lag and delay that makes it very difficult to scan and react to prices. Sure I know a lot of people use bots, but sometimes you just have to use a manual touch (because nothing like going against the grain to gain an additional spread).
I know you guys are working your butts off, so keep doing so and when everything is well and squared away, bring back the site. Thanks!

I...I...I just can't move on. My life is so empty without her. I can't stop thinking about her. She still haunts my dreams!!! Oh, we're talking about Mt. Gox? Yeah, totally over that shit.

I'd say it did, in a similar fashion that pornography bolstered the digital camera industry.
Honestly, nothing tests a technology than a particular set of people with steadfast demands.

Man, for a moment, I thought you were joking.
Oh you weren't? Uh...
Huh...
Well...
I don't know.
[Clearly the hash is high with this one...]

Wow, that is just disgraceful. Some people just have no respect for common human decency.
Best that these lessons are learned now though, so that way, in the future, this type of thing doesn't happen again.

I do find it intriguing how everyone is brazenly bashing even though this is still in a stipulated "beta." This implies two things: 1) Don't put more than you can afford to lose into coinmarket.io and 2) Don't expect the system to be perfect, i.e. expect long downtimes.
I know it also doesn't mean that the site should keep users in the dark especially when there is a trust factor implicitly there, so bad on them too.
But come on, we really need cooler heads to prevail.
To be fair, no-one is really bashing, just asking for an update Coinmarket are only hurting themselves at the moment. People don't mind downtime on a beta, they do mind being kept in the dark when they have actual money invested, regardless if that's $1 or $1000. In the current wild west of crypto currency trust is very, very important as so many people have just gone dark and stolen coins. Completely agree. I take that "bashing" isn't the correct word. More like vitriolic frustration. Hehe. Yes, that's the think that is hurting coinmarket.io. Their aim is to become a go-to exchange. And they aren't doing themselves any favors by not providing updates (even if they are in a "beta"). As you said trust is very important in the crypto-currency scene and this is one of those key make it or break it moments. That said, some of the worst things to do during uncertainty like this is to panic or get aggressive. But it's understandable.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of them are willing to take slight losses for possible long term gains.
Of course, in that case we get into the whole mining vs. buying issue, but that's another topic.
i pay my electric bill with my fiat salary, i view it as the same as putting $ into my 401(k), so yes, i am looking long term. i don't dump my mined coins to pay for my gpu's or electricity Agreed. I do the same thing. I budget out the several hundred I need for electricity from my salary. As for my coins, I save a bunch of them, convert a portion to BTC, of which I convert some back into fiat as play money.
