My suggestion though is to give people "free" balance to test it,,, not a faucet. Faucet and actual coins should only be for proper launch.
Why? Faucet is a good way to help people gamble with real money which is why it is much better than gambling with test balance in this aspect. If op has no problem providing a faucet in this case, he should go right ahead. The owner could try that, like on testnet only of Bitcoin. The owner of the website can use the bitcoin testnet for the BETA only. For me, the better way is to give all users starting free starting balance or a bonus for every first deposit on the website.
