Thank you for the search Wink

No prob.  Good boards, i would personally recommend them.  I would also personally recommend the GA-970A-UD3P, but its slot arrangement isn't quite as optimal as the original linked ones.
662  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 4x 280x GPU motherboard question on: January 11, 2014, 05:09:45 PM
1500w would definitely be plenty for a 280x.  Each 280x won't exceed 300w in a worst case scenario.

Based on my rig readings with a 90% efficent PSU.

4x 280x @ 1080/1500 1125mv = 1190W from the wall. 750-755khs per card.
4x 280x @ 1030/1500 1075mv = 1050W from the wall. 715-720khs per card.
4x 280x @ 1000/1500 1037mv= 970W from  the wall. 695-705khs per card.

I assume he runs 800khs per card @ around 1160/1800 1120-1125mv. This should pull approximately 1550-1650w from the wall.

1160/1800 exceeds a worst-case scenario.  One doesn't need near those clocks to get ~750khs on a 280x.

Running 1160/1800 to get the extra 50khs to 800khs = I don't care about performance / watt and probably don't pay much if anything for electricity.

1500w would definitely be plenty for 4 280x.  Each 280x won't exceed 300w in a worst case scenario.

AMD (AM3/3+) -Asrock 970 Extreme4

Any idea if you'll need powered risers or not for that one?  I can't remember when you do and do not need them, been way too long since I've GPU mined.

Thanks

I am running 5 Sapphire 7950 reference blower model cards like this one in that board: 3 Sapphire 7950 blower model reference cards inserted into the x16 slots, and 2 up on powered risers.  No issues.

You need powered risers when your pcie pins are overspecced past a reasonable amount due to the absence of the expected 75w from the physical pcie lane.  If you have say 4 290s up on unpowered risers, that would be 75w x 4 = 300w extra being pulled through the pcie pins.  You are virtually guaranteed to blow something up.

OP coin devs, let's see your promo machine in action now and not when the coin launches.

No promo can kill even a well-launched coin.

671  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Development on: January 11, 2014, 01:46:18 PM
hahaha I cannot wait till my scrypt asic raises the difficulty for you poor gpu miners
from my understanding the only thing its going to help is power consumption nothing more and nothing less.

This is true, but the true benefit to a fpga/asic implementation is far greater unit density / farm MHs due to that lower power consumption.

This is why scrypt fpga/asic scams such as Alpha Technologies are so successful.  A 100 MHs fgpa/asic farm would produce a fraction of the heat/power consumption of the same size gpu farm, and the big boys are always keen on things like this.

i did scammed by that guy,i send first.but then he says having no money in wallet, but send to me only 1/10 btc with a cryptsy key.
I will ask u for an escrow  if someone buy coye from me .

Check your PM.

I have also modified my positive review of kelvinliong to reflect a warning about doing business with this person due to your dealings with him.  While my transaction with kelvinliong was ok because he sent first, i added in a warning due to your transaction with him.  I will ofc modify this warning in the event that kelvinliong does come through and pay the remainder of what he owes.  kingimg, if kelvinliong does come through and make good on what he owes, please update your review with him to reflect that he did so and pm me so i can do the same with mine.

kingimg,

You won't get people to send you coin outside of an escrow (unless they are foolish).  Would you agree to use an escrow?

You already have one scam accusation made by a guy i've traded to a few times quite recently and had 0 issues with.

I have never used an escrow before, how to use it ?

Pardon the second thing i said about that one scam accusation.  You sent it about a guy i did a few deals with, whom i had no problems with.  Weird.

Anyhow, the escrow agent is the trusted middleman in the deal.  Both parties send their coins to him/her. Once the coins are received by the escrow person, he/she disburses them to the correct parties.  Escrow ensures noone gets scammed (provided of course that the escrow is no scammer himself/herself).

Escrow.ms is a trusted escrow.  I can also pull an escrow if necessary if you catch me at the right time.

mrugala, some personal favorites:
AMD (AM3/3+) -Asrock 970 Extreme4
AMD (FM2) -> Asrock FM2A85 Extreme6+
Intel -> MSI Z77A-G45

Note that there are lots of intel options in the Z77, Z87 range due to Intel fully embracing PCIE 3.0.

How's this coin going?  Any news back from the RL Colbert?

I would personally go powered risers to provide the extra watts.

680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do I need Powered Risers? on: January 10, 2014, 11:48:14 PM
6970s are solid 220-250w units... You would be safe running them on non-powered until you get some powered.

I would not run them forever on non-powered risers, no.
