It is unprofessional to say "sucks".
662  Economy / Economics / Re: economics sub-board should be removed on: June 19, 2011, 01:09:32 AM
this section is a joke
most of the posters here (all of them) know very little (absolutely nothing) about economics
even if they did it's not a riveting subject
I do like some of the threads that cause people to sell but they could easily be in the bitcoin discussion

Personally I wish the entire forum could be removed except for technical help. I think it drives down BTC value to see all the people or "noobs" here spouting off their opinions about how flawed Bitcoins are because they are too scared to invest, and want to justify not putting money in.
663  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Safest place to Register domains ? on: June 19, 2011, 01:05:08 AM
You don't need "tons of BTC" to register a .bit domain, just convert around 1 btc to nmcs via the bitparking exchange and you'll have enough nmc to register the domain (approximately).

That's pretty much the whole point of namecoin: to be able to register a domain name without any fear of seizure.

$20 to register a domain nobody will ever use? That's such a rip-off. It can be seized pretty easily by the makers of namecoin.
664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin.org double login? on: June 19, 2011, 01:02:23 AM
affirmative

Why don't you have a persistent login? You don't need to log out/log in every time.

Did you try deleting your cache/cookies?
665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin.org double login? on: June 19, 2011, 12:58:50 AM
Don't forget to read the first post Smiley

Is it Firefox 4.x?
666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin.org double login? on: June 19, 2011, 12:54:49 AM
Probably you are using an obsolete browser like IE6. I would suggest looking into that. Otherwise delete your cookies and cache.
667  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Bitcoins on: June 19, 2011, 12:47:18 AM
I think probably you need to take a keyboarding class.
668  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just an Observation on: June 19, 2011, 12:46:13 AM
This is Aol 3.0.

669  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Use .tar.xz instead of .tar.gz on: June 18, 2011, 08:53:05 PM
This is a terrible idea. Stick with gz.
670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bad news travels fast on: June 18, 2011, 08:36:32 PM
I couldn't stop laughing reading that. I'm thinking more and more that allinvain is a genius with amazing foresight who planned a brilliant attack on all fearmongering factless news reporters. think about what the layman is thinking as they read that story - the only 'proof' that a heist actually occured is an anonymous guy claiming it on a forum and this claimers name is 'allinvain'. yeah, it totally looks like they fell hook line and sinker for a clever joke, they disregarded the whole 'news reports report on facts' thing in the name of an exciting story. If thats the case allinvain, then i salute you  Cheesy i know, i know, if you respond to this then you must, for the sake of the game, insist it was all real, and please do. but like i said, in the event that you are a mastermind with incredible foresight - I salute ye!

There's at least a dozen stories about allinvain, some of which use his name in them. I think you are bad at Internets.
671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just got hacked - any help is welcome! (25,000 BTC stolen) on: June 18, 2011, 05:19:47 PM

Thanks for the guide. So, the wallet.dat file doesn't have to be "connected" to the internet, ever, to deposit money into it?

No, it doesn't.  A user can create a new wallet.dat file on an unconnecte machine (by installing and starting the client, then shutting the client back down safely) copy the receiving address that the client produces onto any medium, copying the wallet.dat file onto a cheap thumbdrive, put the thumbdrive into a safe, and send coins from his mybitcoin.com account to the receiving address into the indefinate future.  This is pretty much what I do for my long term savings, as I have just such a setup.  I have a special address in my mybitcoin.com addressbook called "savings" that I send my overage to, and I don't have to take my thumbdrive out of the safe to do it.

What about withdrawals?

This requires the wallet.dat file.

do u ever worry about consolidating all ur coins onto one address in the blockchain?  what about a collision?

i know this has been discussed a zillion times but what if the gov't decides to brute force the top 10 btc address holders?

You can't brute-force SHA-2 with contemporary technology.
672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to transactions in invalid blocks? on: June 18, 2011, 05:18:40 PM
Similar noobish question; I've noticed after like 6 confirmations, it doesn't say unconfirmed anymore, Is it always going to be that way?

674  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Live BTC Market Prices (Chrome Extension) on: June 18, 2011, 04:57:58 PM
I'd have to browse through the source code in my extensions folder to make sure it doesn't have trojans, but seems cool.
675  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The trollercoaster on: June 18, 2011, 04:53:39 PM
This I know: every single bitcoin I own will be worth exactly 100 bitcents come Monday morning.

Everything you think you know... is a lie!

edit: I thought that meant 100 cents. I got confused. Ignore this post.
676  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Godlikeprocuctions has banned the word Bitcoin! on: June 18, 2011, 04:41:40 PM
Maybe operation "All In Vain" didn't work effectively enough, so this is their backup plan.
677  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Allinvain $500,000 theft & Black Friday related? CIA / Banker Attacks? on: June 18, 2011, 04:26:53 PM
Interesting turn of events, do you think allinvain will return under another username with another damaging story? Maybe he posts under a second and is just waiting for the right time.
678  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has ANYONE got their parents on board the Bitcoin train? on: June 18, 2011, 04:15:04 PM
I've had both my parents mining for over a week now. My dad gets about 180mH/s and my mom gets about 12mH/s on her laptop, LOL.

My brother did for a weekend but then he quit... not sure why because he's unemployed and can do about 250mH/s with his computer.
679  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POLL: Do you use Silk Road? on: June 18, 2011, 04:14:08 PM
I voted yes just to troll. But in a double reversal troll, I didn't actually vote yes. So I voted no.
680  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Do you think lulzsec will target Bitcoin? on: June 18, 2011, 04:11:53 PM
Just wondering since they seem to go after everything else, and apparently the goons hate Bitcoin.
